Mai: I'll take care of the Pokémon that battled for us. And I'll let you have these. You people make all kinds of things with your crafting, don't you? These should prove to be useful materials.
(Mai gives Linka 5 Vivicokes.)
Mai: You and your Pokémon fought well together! You practically acted as one with them. Rather like the legendary hero of old... The one we tell stories of to our children. I think you're indeed the one for the job. You see, I need someone to deal with an alpha Pokémon causing trouble upon Deertrack Heights.
Linka: Alpha pokemon?
Mai: It is a large, fearsome foe—like any alpha—but you'll come, won't you? To Deertrack Heights?
(Linka's Arc Phone started ringing. She picks it up.
Loki: That's odd, How is that thing getting a signal without any satellites around?
Mai: Satellites?
Linka: Uhh...hard to explain.
Rei: Is that strange thingummy of yours telling you where to go?
Linka: I think so. (To Mai) You know anything about this?
Mai: My, my, that is some curious sort of map. Is that one of those Galaxy Team inventions I keep hearing about?
Linka: Not exactly, but it is a very common thing in our world.
Mai: It certainly does seem to show the way to Deertrack Heights, up ahead of us. It seems you're quite the asset to the Survey Corps, new one. Though... Before we continue, I must ask. Do you already know about almighty Sinnoh?
Linka and Loki: Almighty what, now?
Mai: I suppose that's to be expected. Allow me to sketch out the basics...Almighty Sinnoh steers all time. It's said to have created the very universe using its power over time's flow, and this land of Hisui was born in the process. It's by the grace of almighty Sinnoh that Pokémon can live and thrive here. We of the Diamond Clan are descendants of a people who crossed the sea and settled here in the Hisui region to venerate almighty Sinnoh. However, it stole away from the world long ago, hiding itself from our sight... Almighty Sinnoh has only rarely been seen by any human, if the old tales are to be trusted. But there are still Pokémon here today in Hisui with a connection to almighty Sinnoh. And it is the duty of wardens like myself to attend to their needs. The Pokémon that graces Deertrack Heights is one of those honored few. It is directly descended from a Pokémon that was blessed with almighty Sinnoh's protection. Follow me, and you may understand.
(As the group followed Mai, Loki noticed a tumblestone crystal that was moving.)
Loki: Hey, why is that crystal moving?
Linka: Don't know, I'll check it out.
(Linka grabbed Zelbui's pokeball.)
Linka: Time to shine, Zelbui.
(Linka ordered Zelbui to attack it. When it was shattered, a pokemon that resembled a rock with arms popped out.)
Rock with arms: Who interrupted my sleep?
Linka: Zelbui, Aqua jet! Agile Style!
(Zelbui charged at the rock with a headbutt surround by water.
Rock: Owwwww! Water stings!
Linka: That did a lot of damage! So much so that I think it can be caught.
(Linka threw a pokeball at the rock, capturing it.)
Loki: Hey Linka, Could you give me that pokemon? I could use some backup.
Linka: Sure. (Give newly captured pokemon to Loki.) What name would you give it?
Loki: How about...Rockhead?
Linka: Rockhead...For some reason I kinda like that.
(They continue walking up until they came to Deertrack Heights to meet Mai.)
Mai: Oh? So even your professor decided to join us?
(Linka and Loki turned around and saw Laventon running up the stairs)
Laventon: Whew... Thank goodness... I got here in time...(Pulls out his camera) As a Pokémon researcher, I could hardly miss out on a chance to observe an alpha, now, could I?
Mai: I suppose that is your business... Fine—as long as you stay out of the way.
(Laventon puts his camera away.)
Linka: Loki, this is Professor Laventon. He researches pokemon and hopes to create Hisui's first pokedex. Laventon, Loki.
Laventon: A pleasure to meet you, Linka told me about you. Tell me, do you have your arc phone with you?
Loki: Oh you mean this thing? (Pulls out his phone.) it's out of power, so I can't show you how it works.
Laventon: But Linka's seems to be working just fine.
Loki: That's because it's different.
Laventon: Alright, so tell me, what is it like being the oldest of 11 kids?
Loki: It can be exhausting, but if you're strict enough they'll listen to you.
Mai: This is Deertrack Heights... This is where I've long come to pay tribute to a special Pokémon—a Pokémon descended from one of those ancients blessed by almighty Sinnoh.
(A large red cricket pokemon with a maroon nose, black mustache, and resembled a stringed instrument walked up. It also had glowing red eyes.)
Mai: That's not it. That's only a troublemaker, here to disturb the peace with its racket.
Cricket pokemon: Stop hiding and face me, Wyrdeer! Or are you going to admit you're too weak?
Mai: And that's what you're here for, Linka: to drive that interloper from this place. I'll ensure your Pokémon are ready for the battle.
Laventon: Upon my word...what a large specimen! Little wonder alpha Pokémon are feared across the land if they're all as oversized as this one!
Mai: Exactly. They're not only big, though. They are strong and may know moves that others of their kind do not.
Linka: You mean that regular...uhm, what is this pokemon's name?
Laventon: Kricketune.
Linka: Kricketune are smaller than that?
Mai: *nods* They're naught to be trifled with, let me tell you. Nevertheless... (To Linka) I believe you are stronger still than this alpha. So go show it that, beyond any mistaking!
Laventon: Be careful, Linka. Size is a potent weapon in and of itself. No doubt this alpha is a powerful and hardy foe. If you must face it, make sure your Pokémon have some strong moves at their disposal.
Loki: I want to help too. My sister saved me from two pokemon, so I should pay her back.
Mai: Alright but be careful.
(Linka and Loki approached the Alpha Kricketune.)
Alapha Kricketune: Well, at least I have someone to fight. Let's battle!
(Linka send out Quilli while Lokis send out Rockhead.)
Linka: Alright Quilli use Ember!
(Quilli fire a fireball at Kricketune. But the attack misses.)
Alpha Kricketune: Get a load of this! (Uses Aerial Ace on Quilli, She struggles to get up.)
Linka: Oh no! Quilli are you O.K.?
Quilli: Nguh...
Loki: Linka, Let me handle this. Wait, what moves does Rockhead know?
Linka: Let me see. hmmmmm...Oh! I know! try using rollout.
Loki: O.K., use Rollout!
(Rockhead rolled into a ball and charged at Kricketune)
Alpha Kricketune: Owwwww!
(Kricketune used Aerial Ace on Rockhead, but Rockhead resisted it.)
Rockhead: Gnhhhh...
Linka: Quilli use Aerial Ace!
(Quilli creamed a blade of energy and slashed Kricketune.)
Alpha Kricketune: Gnnnnnnrgh!
Linka: Alright, go pokeball! (Linka catches Kricketune.) Alright!
Loki: We did it! (He and Linka hi five)
(The others walk up to them)
Mai: You really are an impressive one, aren't you? Seeing someone best an alpha like that... It truly reminds me of the legendary hero of old!
?: Haha! Good job getting rid of that Kricketune!
Laventon: (Surprised by the unknown pokemon's cry) Wh-what in the world?!
(On a cliff was a white deer with balls on his antlers, and a long white beard.)
Deer Pokemon: Pardon if I caught you by surprise..
Mai: It's the great Wyrdeer!
(Wyrdeer walk to them he looks at Linka)
Wyrdeer: ...
Mai: He looks upon you with kindness, Linka...
Wydeer: No wonder Arceus has choose you to come to this world...
Mai: I'd say the great Wyrdeer has taken a liking to you. That is fortunate. He is an esteemed Pokémon that can dash across the expanses of Hisui while bearing a human on his back—a human he deems worthy, at least. He is a blessing to us all.
Laventon: Remarkable! Truly outstanding stuff! A Pokémon letting someone ride on it... Why, it's just like the Ride Pokémon of Alola!
(Rei then walks up to them.)
Rei: Professor! I take it things went smoothly? I'm here on Captain Cyllene's orders. She said we'd be able to set up a base camp here once Linka took care of her request.
Laventon: Ah, about that. I know this was a joint decision by Adaman and the commander, but still—is it truly fine for us to set up more base camps like this?
Mai: The Hisui region is a land created by almighty Sinnoh for the sake of its Pokémon. As long as your goal is to coexist and thrive together with the Pokémon, then I imagine you should also be allowed to use this land. The great Wyrdeer has taken a liking to Linka as well. This is a good sign. (To Linka) You have my thanks for what you did today. Our clan leader will hear of how you aided us. I'll come to show my appreciation with a proper reward as soon as I can.
Rei: Well, if we're to "coexist and thrive" with Pokémon, we'll need to know them better. And the first step toward that is completing the Pokédex! The Construction Corps should be here soon. They'll have our new base camp pitched in no time!
(Later, the new camp was set up.)
Laventon: Here we have it—our new base camp upon Deertrack Heights! I'll call it...the Heights Camp! From now on, when you set out from the village, you can ask to be escorted to this base camp to start your excursions directly from here.
Rei: Having more base camps oughta make our survey work easier, huh? Well, that's that. How about we head to the Wallflower like usual?
