The day ended rather uneventfully. The rest of Crime Sorciere came back several hours after Macbeth and Cobra returned. Most of them were mildly tired and only gave short greetings before settling down for the night. Cobra braced himself for a formal accusation, but even Jellal didn't question him when he saw him again.

So the sun set and night came upon the camp. Cobra and Macbeth weren't up for the night watch, so he could theoretically enjoy a full eight or so hours of sleep…purely theoretical of course. Macbeth would probably get half that, although that wasn't entirely his fault.

Eventually, despite thoughts of the day, the days to come, and related thoughts, Cobra fell asleep early into the night. He perhaps wasn't giving himself enough credit on how tired he was, as it was a deeper sleep than normal for him.

To that end, he didn't so much as turn over when Macbeth got up during the midnight hour and slipped off. He wasn't awake to see the nervousness on his guild mate's face as he left, looking over his shoulder at his sleeping form before taking a deep breath and shuffling away. And he certainly wasn't awake to see him come back and settle down again, only this time, his face awash with a joyous smile. Cobra wouldn't have let him rest if he had.

No, Cobra didn't even dream that night. His mind as empty and still as when he listened to the strange man's soul right before he disappeared.

A/N: And that's a wrap on Day 2! Check back tomorrow for the two interludes. I plan on having two interludes at the end of each Day. Please enjoy them!
