Ch 26 The Resistance and the Next Stage
Eternal Palace
Within the Eternal Palace, Felix walks through the halls of the Palace. He paused his walk and turned around sensing his Servant. "Well, we do have a problem here, master." Foreigner of London approaches the Anomaly master.
"What is it? Was the Spirit Origins from Ryunosuke Akutagawa not enough for the project?" Felix asked the blonde Servant standing before him.
Foreigner chuckles, sipping his wine glass in his hand. "Not exactly, indeed Berserker was defeated but…" His eyes graze to the side, unsure how to tell him. "Let's see, how to say this…Berserker's Spirit Origins wasn't destroyed, it was purged, rewritten."
Felix turned around, wanting to confirm what the Foreigner said. "What do you mean by that, Foreigner?" The blonde master asked the Foreigner Servant.
"I mean the Chaldeans have somehow rewritten Hephaestus's Klironomia and gotten him to join their side." Foreigner simplifies the answer to the master of Patricius of what happened to Akutagawa.
Felix frowns frustrated that the Chaldeans didn't kill the Berserker. "What about Chat Noir? Did he at least take care of that mangy cat?" He asked calmly, wanting to know what happen to his Cousin.
"Unfortunately, Berserker did not. Two Chaldean Servants arrived before he could kill him, even Ladybug and the Chaldean master appeared." Foreigner informed his master, sipping his glass. "After that, the Resistance appeared and wiped out the army that went with Berserker."
Felix was not pleased; in fact, he was beyond pleased. He was pissed, so pissed that it manifested into the power he received from the Eternal Empire.
A dark aura emanates from his body, causing cracks in the walls and the windows. He screamed before punching the wall behind him.
His punch left a dent in the metallic wall, Felix turned back to his Servant still frustrated with their situation. "Have the prison informed that the Resistance and the Chaldeans are next to strike. They most likely plan to have their allies rescued and bring them back with them."
"Of course, I shall inform Lancer of the Eternal Empire. Machiavelli and D'Artagnan are probably still at the prison guarding her." Foreigner paused before asking his master something. "Oh, by the way, shall we dispatch Alter Ego of White too?"
"No, he is guarding the Moon Cell and the Palace. He's the strongest asset we have against the Chaldeans." Felix stated, not wanting to lose the strongest Servant they had on hand.
Foreigner of London chuckles, knowing what his master means. "Your right there, after all…he is a true Lostbelt Servant from a Broken World." He smiles, looking at the White mist floating around the Palace in addition to the Moon Cell.
Patricius, Western District
The group followed the Resistance through the streets of the Eternal Empire, however, they made sure to be hidden from the Watchers roaming in the skies.
But most of the area they were in was lacking in the Empire's Forces other than small squadrons.
Ladybug observes how the leader of the Resistance was taking charge of the members, ordering them to attack certain enemies and when to hide. "It's amazing," the bluenette commented.
"What is, my lady?" Chat asked, finally having the chance to speak to her after their separation.
"That someone from the past is taking charge of a resistance movement with ease," Ladybug said, she then looks at Ritsuka. "How did you ever get used to this?"
Ritsuka looks at the young master, hearing her question. "That's kinda hard to answer, Ladybug. I've been to many places meeting different types of people and Servants." He explains to the Hero of Creation. "You just get used to it the longer you do it."
"Umu, but this is the first time we've ever been to different Dimensions with different Histories." Nero commented, "Am I right, everyone?" She asked the rest of the Chaldean Servants.
"I'm not sure if you count everyone, Saber," BB responded, being the one who was in a different World similar to their own.
Ritsuka chuckles at the Moon Cancer comment, he turns to his Servant and smiles. "Yes, BB we're aware you're from another World." The Magus said, knowing that fact already.
Koyanskaya scoffs, rolling her eyes at what the AI said. "Yeah, you're so damn annoying about it." The Beast of Cherishment said, getting annoyed with the Moon Cancer repeating it every time.
"And I'll keep saying it, Fox." BB retorted to the Alter Ego.
Ritsuka couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at their group's antics. "Seems like you have found yourself in some great company, Fujimaru," Johanna commented, approaching her last master.
"Yeah, I always find myself with many unique people," Ritsuka commented, looking at the female Pope next to him. "Speaking of unique people, it's been a while since we've been together, Ruler." He was happy to see the former Second in Command of the Restoration Realm here.
Johanna nodded, sharing the same feelings as the Chaldean master. "Indeed, Fujimaru. The last time things were like this was when we were charging towards the Revenge Realm Territory." The Ruler Servant commented, "It's nice to be fighting on the same side again."
"Couldn't say it better, Johanna," Constantine added to the white-haired Servant. The Rider's eyes look back at their former Enemy, noticing how the hooded Resistance Soldiers were keeping a close eye on him. "Master, Akutagawa."
Ritsuka heard his Servant motioning his head to their new ally. He nodded, understanding what was going on,
The Magus staggered a bit as the Berserker walked up to him. "So, I noticed that you're keeping your distance from the Resistance, Berserker," Ritsuka spoke to his new Servant. "Why is that?" He asked, even though he knew the answer.
"Hmm? Ah, yes, I'm aware of what I'm doing master." Akutagawa said, looking at his new master. He looks at the many hooded Resistance Soldiers, turning away from his gaze. "Having an enemy that was actively hunting down your friends and family suddenly join your side. I understand that they have some trust issues about this sudden change."
"So for the people whose family I've killed, I have to keep my distance." The Berserker reasoned with his current master, knowing how many people he had hurt under the Empire's influences.
Ritsuka looks at the Soldiers, seeing a few still have their fingers on the trigger of their weapons. "Well, the only way to make them trust you is to do something to gain that trust." The black-haired Magus explained.
Akutagawa ponders a bit, receiving some helpful advice from his new master. "I'll think about it, master."
The group soon arrived at an abandoned park where the fountain wasn't running water. "This place, it's the park we've been to before," Ladybug commented, seeing the sad state of a once lively public space.
"Hold it," Assassin raised his hand as the Resistance members prepared their weapons.
Everyone aimed their weapons at the empty park before firing at it.
"Why are they firing!?" Koyanskaya exclaims, seeing these Soldiers attacking nothing. "It's a waste of ammunition if they continue to do that!"
Bunnyx points to where the bullets landed, appearing out of nowhere Enemy Programs and Vipers fell to the ground, "We've received some intel that the Eternal Empire has developed a way to cloak their Soldiers."
"Good thing our proximity detectors reacted to their presence." A Resistance Member motions to the watch on their wrist.
"Interesting, technology like that shouldn't be accessed by Humans yet given the information we've got from Caster." Koyanskaya looks around at the advanced and familiar technology. "I assume you have a collaborator is someone who gave you the power to fight back?"
The Soldiers paused for a moment, surprised to hear that the Chaldeans knew that their weaponry was from a forager. They all looked at Assassin and Bunnyx, being the few who has the authority to tell them.
"Indeed, the one who gave the power to fight back is someone who opposes this version of Paris," Assassin confirmed that the Beast was right in her assumption.
"But that said, he is busy to even properly introduce himself to you guys," Bunnyx explains, feeling bad to hide their Collaborator from their only allies in their World. "When the time comes then we can confirm that once things are settled then we can start introductions."
Chat shrugs, knowing that trust must be earned before they can do anything. "So it's like that, I get you guys." The Hero of Destruction commented,
Assassin of the Resistance looks up, seeing Watchers and Enforcers heading towards their way. "Let's get in, the enemy will be here soon."
"Right," Ritsuka replied, watching as the Resistance opened another secret entrance to another Facility underground.
The large group went inside, evading the detection of the Watchers and Enforcers.
The group walks through a dimly light hall leading to another door. However, unlike the other Facility the Chaldeans used as a Base, this one was battered like a fierce Battle has taken place here.
Slash marks, burn marks, and large holes like something with destructive power blasted through.
Nero approached the slashes, grazing her fingers on the wall. "A fierce Battle has taken place here." The Red Saber observes the area,
"I can tell too," Constantine commented, taking a look at the large holes which looks like it was slowly disintegrating in a white mist. "Something stills lingers in this hole." The Rider observes the mist eating away the wall.
Ritsuka walks over to where the Emperors were standing, taking a look into the hole. He felt like he recognized this kind of mist. "I recognize this, but where I have seen it before." He commented,
Constantine and Nero looked back at the wall, "I have, but it's just a speculation." Nero asked.
"Master, should we tell the others about this?" Constantine asked his master,
"Not now," Ritsuka said, standing up from the ground. "I have an inkling feeling of what the mist is, but I don't have enough to conclude who was behind this." The Magus stated,
"Fujimaru," The three looks up, seeing Bunnyx standing before them as the others enter the damaged base. "Everyone has entered the base, are you finished with whatever you are doing?" Bunnyx informed the Chaldeans.
Nero smiles, marching forward. "Umu, we're done here Bunnyx! Lead the way in the base, Bunny Hero!" The Emperor of Roses cheerfully said to the Hero of Evolution.
Ritsuka and Constantine sigh, looking at Bunnyx silently apologizing to the maroon-haired Hero. "(Sorry about that Bunnyx,) The Magus apologizes to her.
Bunnyx waved her hand, smiling at the master of Chaldea. "It's fine, Fujimaru. It's nice to have a positive person in this current situation." The Living Hero commented, leading the three into the underground base.
Inside the base, it was like the other bases scattered around the Eternal Empire. The same setup and the same number of rooms except for the many consoles circling around the center.
"Wow, it's the same as the other base the others stayed behind," Ladybug commented, walking around to look around.
Chat was in awe at the underground Facility, he knew this Paris was advanced in technology, but this was something else. "This base wasn't here back in the Present, this is probably the most futuristic place if I have ever seen one." The Hero of Destruction commented.
"What do you expect? With advanced technology overtaking Pairs you should expect something like these bases to appear." A Resistance Soldier explains, placing his weapon down.
"Wait, if these bases came with the Eternal Empire shouldn't they be under their watch!?" Chat asked, worried that they are being watched by the enemy.
"I wouldn't worry about that," Assassin of the Resistance stated, looking at the Heroes. "Our Collaborator back at our main base has complete control over the underground. Our presence is masked due to his work,"
That piqued BB's interest, "Oh? What's this? There's someone who's capable of controlling an entire territory other than Moon Cancers or a Grand?" BB asked with a smile. "I wonder who this all-powerful Collaborator is,"
Assassin scoffs, walking to the console near the center. "It'll be some time before you could meet the Collaborator and the leaders of the Resistance." He turned around and faced the Chaldeans.
"Now, people of Chaldea," Assassin spoke, gaining the Chaldeans' attention, "And allies from other places, welcome to the Resistance's Sixth Facility base. We are the Resistance army that was from by the former Miraculous League, Servants sent by the Counter Force, Servants sent by the Moon Cell, and Humans who wished to stand against the Eternal Empire for all of Paris!"
"I am the Assassin of the Resistance, the one who was task leading the Resistance in my master's place." The white-haired Assassin introduced himself to the Chaldeans.
The Resistance Soldiers stood tall, showing their pride as Parisians trying to save their home.
"So he's the Servant of the other master here." Ritsuka looks around, seeing how determined the people of Paris are in defeating the Empire. Even sacrificing themselves to achieve that goal.
"I have to say, as someone who leads armies against my enemies, this is a decent Resistance movement against an enemy whose powerful than you," Constantine commented, impressed that these Humans still want to fight despite the enemy having a powerful army.
Bunnyx smirks, leaning on the console behind her. "Well, those who are against the Eternal Empire decided to fight back forming the Resistance you see right now." The Hero of Evolution stated, looking at the many people who rebel against the Empire.
"That's right, that Emperor wants us to follow what he says!" A Resistance Solider stated, showing his dislike for the Emperor.
"He's a dictator, a tyrant that wants nothing but to rule over us." A female Resistance Solider growls, thinking of what the Enemy Programs have done to her family. "He had those Machines, and the Inquisitors kill many who protest against the Emperor's rule."
Johanna shut her eyes, clasped her hand, and prayed for the innocents who fell by the tyrant's regime.
Akutagawa looks away, feeling bad for committing many atrocities he did under the Empire's control.
Ladybug gasps at the tyrannical actions that the Eternal Emperor has done to her home and its people.
Chat growls, clutching his fist and hearing what this Resistance Soldier told them. "Why is he like this," He said to himself.
Ritsuka sighs, seeing another Servant trying to be a ruler in a place where they don't need them. "Don't worry, we will help you. Our enemy is your enemy after all,"
Koyanskaya sighs, seeing this is another day in the line of work for Chaldea. "Well, the more allies we have the easier to infiltrate the Palace." The Fox commented,
"I'm glad that you decided to give us your aid, Chaldeans," Assassin of the Resistance smiles, speaking for the Resistance Soldiers currently with them. "Now that we're here, I'll play the me-"
"Assassin, they have just defeated another Berserker. I think the message that the others left can wait until they rested a bit." Bunnyx said to the Servant leading the Resistance. "We can relay the message to them later,"
The white-haired Assassin nodded, "Very well, rest for now. We'll talk when you're ready, Chaldeans." He turns to the Soldiers around them, "Guard the entrance and remain vigilant. This base is compromised, we don't know what might happen."
"Sir!"
"Um, how can we help?" Ladybug asked, watching everyone spread around the facility.
"Yeah, is there anything we can help you with, Bunnyx, Assassin?" Chat asked the two leaders of the Resistance movement.
Bunnyx looks at the two younger versions of her deceased leaders. "There's nothing else for you to do, besides don't your Kwamis need some rest?" The maroon-haired Hero asked the two.
Ladybug and Chat Noir's eyes widen, it's been a while since their Partners has rested. "O-Oh, it's been some time since Plagg and Tikki had something to eat." The bluenette said, realizing they haven't been out lately.
"We've been busy with everything that we've been working them to the bone." Chat Noir looks at his Ring, feeling bad for his Kwami and friend.
"There's a room in that hall that you can use to rest." Bunnyx points to the simply lit hallway to the side. "I have something to speak with Fujimaru and the others, feel free when you two are ready,"
Ladybug nodded, appreciating their friend's help. "Thank you Bunnyx," She walks over to the hallway and turns around waiting for Chat Noir to follow. "Chat?"
"Just a moment," Chat held his hand to his Girlfriend, he looks over to Johanna talking to Constantine and Akutagawa. "Ruler, I'll be in the room over there." He points to the hallway where Ladybug stood.
Johanna nodded, "Of course, master." The Pope smiles, happy to see her master manage to find his lover.
Chat and Ladybug went inside the room, closing it behind them.
Bunnyx turns around and walks to Ritsuka resting on the chair. "Fujimaru, we have something to ask you." She said, "It has to do with the plan to defeat the Eternal Empire,"
Assassin also approaches the master of Humanity, crossing his arms at him. "But first, we need to conceal this base, if you would can you ask your Servant to reactivate it?" The white-haired man asked. "
"Yes, BB if you co-"
"No need Senpai, your trusted Kohai will her thing to get this place up and running." BB pridefully said, materializing her Baton as she approached the terminal. She taps on the console, using her Authority as a Moon Cancer, and hacks into the base.
Ritsuka looks at the two, going into their next topic. "Now that BB is working on getting this base up and running, what is the plan for taking down the Empire?"
Bunnyx chuckles, "Well, we can do that unless we have defeated the entire Inquisitors." She explains to the master of Chaldea. "And we got two left,"
"Alter Ego of White and Lancer of the Eternal Empire," Assassin continues after the Hero. "Since Alter Ego is out of our league, the only option is-"
"The Lancer, got it." Ritsuka nodded, already receiving the task the Resistance set for them.
"We'll talk about it later, for now, rest." Assassin left, heading to the terminal to do something.
Ritsuka nodded as Bunnyx left him to be, "Relax, that's something I didn't do for a while now." He closes his eyes and fell asleep with the small moments he has.
Facility One
"What do you mean I can't see them!?" A blonde boy asked his Grandfather, standing beside Prometheus in the center of their underground home.
Gabriel crossed his arms at his Grandson, looking down at him. "I will not repeat myself, Louis. You are the anchor for Assassin in our World, I can't let you go out when the Eternal Empire is looking for us." The old man said sternly.
Louis remains vigilant, still wanting to meet his Parents' young selves. "But it's Mom and Dad, I want to see them! The Empire has taken them away from me, Hugo, and Emma!" The Eldest of the Siblings stated, "It's unfair that this other master has brought them here only to have you not letting me see them!"
"Caster, help me out here," Gabriel looks at the God of Fire next to him.
The orange eye of Prometheus glowed, speaking to the young blonde boy. "Young Louis, it is dangerous out there like your Grandfather said," Prometheus stated, looking down at the inexperienced master. "Now that Assassin has made contact with the Chaldeans, you'll be able to meet with them soon."
"But-"
"Listen to your Grandfather, Louis. In these desperate times, we need to take precautions if we are to defeat the Eternal Empire." The Machine God stated, advising the blonde boy.
Gabriel kneels to his Son's Son, placing his hand on his shoulders. "I know that your Parents are gone in a snap and that everything changed. But please, you and your Siblings are the only ones left of them." The former Villian said, "You were able to receive help from others, not of this World, you managed to convince the refugees into fighting back, even me. So, Lous, please don't go out where things might go bad,"
"You are the last remaining light Paris needs," Gabriel said before standing up. "Now, it's past your bedtime. Go back to your room and get some sleep."
Louis nodded, "Yes Grandfather." He turns back to the hallway and heads down to his room.
Gabriel sighs, combing his hair through his fingers. "What am I going to do with the boy, Caster? He's like his Father, rebelling with every word I'd say."
"I may not apply to understand, but with the interactions going on in the base with the others," Prometheus stated, looking at the old man. "But I do believe Louis is experiencing what you Humans called guilt."
Gabriel looks at the Ancient God, confused about what he is saying. "Guilt?"
The orange orb nodded, "Yes, guilt, as in watching others go out and doing their part to save Paris while he stays in the base." Prometheus stated, "As you said, he's like his Father and with that, he inherited his sense of justice."
"You should be aware, he's still a master. As such, it'll be a matter of time before he needs to be out there helping." Prometheus explains to the worried Grandfather. "I've seen it before with the Chaldean master. Both he and Louis share the sense of helping people despite the danger."
The former Villian chuckles, looking at the Machine God. "For a Machine, you know how to choose some words," Gabriel stated, appreciating their talk.
"I only observe and take the logical explanations on the lives of Humans," Prometheus commented before receiving a message from their other field group. "Seems like the Second group sees some changes to the prison."
"I'll contact Assassin," Gabriel turns around and heads to the console to inform their ally.
