Ch 28 Resistance Mission

"Karl der Grobe? That's whom we're facing!?" Chat Noir exclaims at the major name that was spoken.

Koyanskaya chuckles, finding this interesting. "My, now this is an interesting change. I wonder how our dear Charlie will react." The Alter Ego commented.

BB scoffs, "Well, that attack and condition he found himself make sense." The Moon Cancer crossed her arms, understanding why the Eternal Empire try to eliminate the Saber. "I bet they didn't expect him to survive Lancer's strike."

Many who know of the name began speaking among themselves, starting to get worried about facing the Eternal Empire now.

Ladybug looks around, seeing the growing worry in the crowd. However, there's one question she wants to ask, "Um, who is Karl der Grobe?" The bluenette Hero asked the people around her.

"How can you not know about Karl der Grobe is?" A Resistance member looks at the Hero of Creation, confused with her knowledge.

"Um, sorry but I'm not that well too versed in History." Ladybug apologizes to the Resistances.

"It's fine, I don't expect anyone to know any Servants here," Ritsuka said, assuring Ladybug that she doesn't have to know anything, "I can tell you the Servants who get revealed."

Ladybug smiles at the Magus, "Okay, if you don't mind Ritsuka." She said.

Ritsuka nodded, figuring out where to start with Karl der Grobe's legend. "Karl der Grobe is considered the Father of Europe. He untied all of Europe under his rule and was crowned as the Holy Roman Emperor," He summarized the legends of the Anomaly Emperor. "Considering that he eliminate the Servants here, it's no wonder Karl wants to get rid of them."

The bluenette was impressed by the enemy's achievements when he was alive. "But why did he eliminate the Paladins?" Ladybug asked the group.

"Isn't it obvious? Karl der Grobe also goes by another name." Nero steps into the conversation, "He's the Historical version of our dear Charlie, King Charlemagne." The Emperor of Roses informed the young Hero.

Ladybug was even now surprised by another version of their happy-go-lucky friend in this World. "B-But how is that possible?" She asked, "How can that be possible!? How can there be two? Is he an Alter like Jeanne and Marie?"

Chat looks at Ladybug, seeing that it must be the reason why there were two. "Maybe that's it,"

"Not entirely," Constantine spoke up from the side. He looks at the Resistance, "I spoke with Charlie before we enter the Lostbelt and talk about the time in Traum. Though he may be different from the one we know, he has vivid memories."

"What's this gotta do with our situation?" A Resistance member asked the black-haired Servant next to her.

The Byzantine Emperor cleared his throat, "Simple, the Servant Charlemagne has two sides in his Legends." Constantine explains to the group. "The one we know; Charlie is the manifestation of his Mythology and the Adventures he has taken. Karl der Grobe is the true Servant that manifests of his historical fact."

"I see," Ladybug nodded, understanding the differences between the two Charlemagne. "Wait, does this mean the one keeping Charlie from vanishing is his counterpart?"

"That depends, remember that a Servant was trying to manifest here. It might be another Paladin." Koyanskaya answered the Hero of Creation.

Assassin looks at the Beast of Cherishment, overhearing the conversation. "If I may, I think I know what you Chaldeans are talking about." The white-haired Servant said,

"You do?" Chat looks over to the Assassin of the Resistance.

"Yes, as you may be aware many Servants were Summoned here to stop the Eternal Empire." The Assassin of the Resistance explains, "However the Paladins were tasked with protecting what Caster believes to be a key figure in our victory." The white-haired Servant continues.

Assassin steps back, showing the Summoning Circle beneath their feet. "Right here, this place is the place where the Servant will be Summon." He stated, looking at Bunnyx.

"Those three protected this base with their lives," The Hero of the Last Chance stated, "Without their sacrifice, our chances of winning are low. But now, we have a fighting chance!" She said optimistically.

Ritsuka steps forward, analyzing the Summon Circle, "Hmm, this is actually great…however, I see a problem with this Summoning Circle." He said.

"What's the problem?" Johanna asked the master of Chaldea.

"There's no Mana," Everyone's faces paled at the mere mention of zero Mana present in the base.

A Resistance member steps forward, "What do you mean no Mana!? Caster said that this Lostbelt is blooming with Mana!" He stated, "How in the hell are we-"

"You misunderstood me," Ritsuka stated, standing up. "I mean there's no Mana here, but I do feel this Summon Circle is connected to a power source to be able to be used." He explains, practically an expert in Summoning. "But something's blocking it."

Nero crossed her arms, finding this situation a breeze to solve. "Umu, it's obvious what we need to do now." The Saber stated,

"Indeed, Emperor Nero," Constantine added, also seeing what their plan is now. "We need to unblock whatever is preventing Mana from flowing to this Base."

Chat steps forward, determined to get this mission done. "Then what are we doing? Let's go out there and unblock whatever it is!"

Assassin of the Resistance joins the group, "Allow me to guide you to where you'll be needing to go." He offered his assistance in the mission they were about to take.

"What about your little platoon? Don't you need to be here to lead them?" Johanna asked the Servant Summoned by the Moon Cell.

"No need to worry, Bunnyx can take over my stead." Assassin of the Resistance looks at the Rabbit-themed Hero standing near the terminal. "She's more than capable of leading and protecting this base."

Bunnyx nodded, looking at the Chaldeans and the Heroes from the Past. "That's right, this Base and the Summoning Circle will be protected." The Foreigner stated.

Ladybug looks at the future version of her friend, "Bunnyx, if the Empire discovers this place, can you really defend yourselves?" She asked, worried if she and the Soldiers can protect themselves.

"We might lose a few people, but we will defend this place to our last person." A Resistance Soldier stated their resolve. The others nodded, agreeing with what the Resistance Soldier announced.

Constantine and Johanna look at Ritsuka, wanting to ensure that these people are safe from the Servants Karl might send to eliminate them while they are gone.

Ritsuka nodded, understanding what the leaders of the Restoration Realm want him to do. "If I may, I can leave a few Servants here to protect this Base." The Magus offered the Resistance his assistance.

Many of the Soldiers looked at each other, hearing that the master of Chaldea leaving his Servants with them.

"Are you sure, master of Chaldea?" Assassin of the Resistance asked the black-haired Magus. "Our weapons are more than capable of-"

"Even though, I can speak for everyone that a few Servants here would be ensuring." Ritsuka looks at both the Heroes of Creation and Destruction who fully agree with him.

The Servants agreed to the lead master's decision.

Bunnyx looks at Assassin of the Resistance, seemingly agreeing with the master. "He does have a point, with your guiding them; that would leave an opportunity for the enemy to strike." She reasons with the Servant.

Assassin ponders on the notion before ultimately agreeing with it. "Very well, you can leave a few of your allies here to aid the others."

"Thank you so much, Assassin!" Ladybug smiles at the Servant aiding their cause.

"Yes, that would leave us to less worry about you all," Chat added, wanting to show their gratitude for allowing a few Servants to stay with them.

The Servant nodded, walking towards the exit. "Get ready, we're departing in a few minutes." Assassin of the Resistance informed the Chaldeans and their allies. "Decide on whoever's staying and who's coming swiftly."

"All right," Ritsuka turns to the group, discussing what their plan was.

A few minutes after discussing, it was decided that Koyanskaya and Constantine would stay while BB, Johanna, Nero, and Akutagawa were coming along with them.

Moriarty, Archer, and Viperion will meet them at the rendezvous and scout the area.

Holmes has opted to stay in contact with the base, working with Bunnyx and the others on a strategy to defeat the Empire.

The group returned to the surface, like before they did their best to evade the Watchers hovering above them and any patrols on the streets.

The white-haired Assassin looks above them, waiting for the perfect moment to move. Once the Watcher travels to the end of the street, he singles the others to follow his lead. "Come on before that Watchers comes back."

They swiftly leave the alleyway and rush through the streets to their destination. "All right, so where are we heading?" Chat asked the Leader of the Resistance.

"To where we get our Mana supply, the place where the Louvre once was." The Assassin of the Resistance informed the group.

Nero smiles, hearing they're heading to one of Paris's famous landmarks. "Oh, I always wanted to visit the Louvre!" She closes her eyes with a smile. "Umu, a place with a name worthy of the name home of cultured arts just like my Domus Arura."

"So Nero Claudius valued arts. The facts from our History books were true." Chat commented, remembering reading about hi-er her.

"I still can't believe that Emperor Nero was actually a female," Ladybug added, looking at the flamboyant Saber Servant. "History is truly not what we originally thought."

"Goes for show, History is filled with mystery." Ritsuka smiles at the two Heroes. They responded with laughter as they continue their way to their destination.

The group was still on their way to the Louvre, however, the Servants paused and step in front of the masters. "Stand back, a Servant is coming!" Assassin sense a powerful Magical Energy coming straight for them.

"Is it the Alter Ego or the Lancer?" Ladybug asked the Servant Summoned by the other master.

Akutagawa frowns, recognizing the Magical Energy Signature. "This is bad, it's the Foreigner!"

"WHAT!?"

A large projectile landed right in front of them forming a dust cloud before them.

The three Humans sensed the familiar Magical Energy emanating in front of them. "You mean that blonde Servant from the moment we enter-"

"My, I'm glad you remember me Hero wielding the Black Cat Ring of Destruction." Foreigner of London stands as the dust cloud cleared.

Everyone frowns, seeing an enemy they don't want to encounter on their trip to the Louvre. The blonde Servant grins at the group of Heroes, "Good day, Chaldeans it's been a moment since we've met."

"Foreigner of London!" Ritsuka exclaims, seeing the second most powerful Servant on the Empire's side here.

"W-What is he doing here? I thought we wouldn't-"

"Meet? My word, Ladybug it seems you're wrong on so many levels." Foreigner of London spoke, smiling at the Heroes before them. He materializes his wine glass, taking a sip from it.

Ritsuka frowns, looking at the enemy Servant. "Then what are you doing here, Foreigner?" The master of Chaldea asked him.

Foreigner's blue eyes gaze over to Ritsuka, "Isn't it obvious? I'm here to retrieve what you have stolen from the Eternal Empire." He stated, looking at the Author beside Ladybug,

Johanna steps in front of their new alley, "We won't let you lay your hands on Akutagawa, Foreigner." The female Pope proclaims.

The Emperor of Roses materializes her flaming Sword. "Umu, Akutagawa is now a Chaldean. We Chaldeans stick together no matter what." Nero stated.

"That's right, Akutagawa is one of us. We will defend him no matter what!" Ladybug added, Chat and Assassin agree with what everyone is saying.

"Personally, I don't really care if that Berserker is on our side or not," BB commented, sharing her thoughts on the situation. "But if my Senpai thinks he's a good ally to keep around then I have to stand by him."

Chat looks at the Moon Cancer, staring at her for what she said. "Really? You're still doing that despite everything?" He asked only receiving a shrug from BB.

"I agree with what they said, I will not return to your side, Foreigner." The Berserker stated, glaring at his former alley. "I now serve as the master of Humanity's Servant. I will no longer play a role in your and Karl der Gorbe's plan for this Lostbelt."

Ritsuka took the front, defending everyone from the enemy. "So, if you want to have Akutagawa back then you have to go through us." He stated, not letting Foreigner have his Servant under their control.

The blonde Servant frowns, seeing how stubborn these people are. "How…disappointing. I guess the only thing to do is…" Foreigner dashed forward, appearing before Ritsuka.

His wine glass burst into many dog heads, ready to kill the black-haired Magus. "TO KILL THE MASTER!" Foreigner laughs, ready to tear this Magus apart.

"RITSUKA!" Both Chat and Ladybug exclaim at the sight of the incoming Servant,

In a flash, Akutagawa retaliated by sending his Mystic Code to counter Foreigner's attack. Once the dog heads were repelled the Berserker went to his master's side. "Master, are you alright?" The Author asked.

"Yeah, thanks Akutagawa." Ritsuka smiles at the Counter Force Servant aiding him.

Nero dashed forward, seeing that the Servant has threaten the life of her master. "You'll pay for attack Preator, Foreigner!" She exclaims, turning to the others. "BB support me!"

"You got it, no hurts Senpai but me!" BB held out her Baton, tapping it on the ground. Three Shadows rose up, proceeding to attack with Nero as their lead.

"HA!" Nero leaps in, slashing her Sword at the blonde Servant while the Shadows keep him from getting some room to use his abilities.

Nero smirks, seeing what BB was doing to help. "Umu, that's more like it BB!" The Emperor laughs, keeping up with her repetitive strikes.

"Just get him, Saber!" BB answered back, commanding the Shadows.

Akutagawa growls, seeing the uneasy expression Foreigner of London was showing to Nero. "Master, Foreigner…he's up to something…"

Ritsuka nodded as Chat and Ladybug joined him. "Do you know what he's going to do, Akutagawa?" He asked the former Servant of the Eternal Empire.

"I do, he's trying to use the same trick as he did when he gain control of the Servants back in the Present!" The Berserker informed the Chaldean master of what he was going to do.

"You mean when Mulan, Illya Mourments, and Catherine Monvoisin were our enemies?" Chat Noir asked, now getting worried for the Saber Servant,

Ladybug stood up, taking out her yo-yo. "We can't let Foreigner gain control of Nero!" The Hero of Creation stated, not wanting to kill an ally.

Assassin of the Resistance loaded his rifle, aiming at the blonde Servant. "I'll make sure he doesn't do anything." The Counter Force Servant stated,

"No, I'll do it. I have a bone to pick with Foreigner for using us in their plans." The black-haired Servant stated, wanting to make up for his actions under the enemy's control.

"But he's a Foreigner Servant. Your Class can't do much damage to him," Ritsuka stated, not sure what the Author was planning. "Are you sure you can defeat him?"

Akutagawa shook his head, "I'm aware that I'm not good when it comes to Foreigners." He looks over to Johanna for her assistance. "But we can drive him away with a little holiness added. The fact is, Foreigner is infused with an Outer God who can dwell in the darkness."

"I see, so that's why you need my help." Johanna understood why she was called upon,

Chat looks over to his Servant, hearing that she can possibly drive this Eldrich Servant away. "If you can help us, Ruler, then you should." The blonde stated,

Ladybug looks at her Boyfriend's Servant, noticing the Religious aspect of her clothing. "How didn't I notice? You're a religious-type Servant!" The bluenette stated, seeing what Akutagawa's plan was.

"Indeed, Ladybug." Johanna nodded to the Hero of Creation before stepping forward. "Master, please lend me your strength." She asked the young master, ready to deploy her Noble Phantasm.

"What do I need to do, Ruler?" Chat asked, standing behind the Servant he'd Summoned.

Ritsuka joined the blonde Hero, guiding him through the way to being a master. "I know the last time you can only Summon. However, you can do more with your Command Seals," He explains to him. "Hold out your hand and say what you want to say to your Servant with their True Name."

Chat nodded, remembering how many times he'd seen Ritsuka commanding Servants back in the Present. He took a deep breath before looking at Johanna, "Pope Johanna, defeat the Foreigner of London!" One of the claw marks on the Hero's hand disappeared and travels to the Ruler Servant.

Johanna felt the surge in Magical Energy that her Summoner provided. She opens her eyes as the halo above her shines brighter than before, and she lifts to the ground like she was ascending to Heaven.

"Without anger, without resentment, things are done solemnly," Johanna said calmly as Akutagawa went into action.

Bullets were knocking away the dogs' heads as Nero swung her Sword and the shadows kept Foreigner at bay. "HAHAHAHA! Is that all you can do, little Saber?"

Nero ignores the Servant's laughs and insults, continuing her assault.

"Ignoring me? How quaint but I believe we're don-"

"I don't think so!" Foreigner gazes up, seeing the Berserker drops down from the sky.

Foreigner grins, seeing how brass the master of Chaldea is when the cards are against him. "Seriously? Is attacking me when our Classes don't work in your favor!" He held out his hands, sending his dog heads at the Author.

"AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH!" Akutagawa roars, releasing his Mystic Code in retaliation of Foreigner's attack.

Both Servants' canine-like heads clashed with each other, giving the Emperor an opening. "Saber! NOW!"

"UMU! I got you!" Nero took the opening, impaling the enemy in the shoulders.

Foreigner frowns, being impaled by the Emperor of Roses. "Really? Is stabbing me really going to bring me down?" The blonde Servant asked the Red Saber.

Nero smirks up at the enemy Servant. "Oh, I know this doesn't do much to you, Foreigner. But my ally can," She stated,

The blonde looks up, seeing Johanna sitting on a throne. "NO!"

"Here the words are delivered, and atonement is sought." Johanna closed her eyes as clouds surrounds the throne and the halo spun behind her.

She opens her eyes as the halo shined brightly.

"Legendum Papa Thronus!"

The halo shines a bright light, spreading throughout the area. "GAH!" Foreigner growls, taking on the damage from the holy light from the Ruler Servant.

"NGH! Damnit!" Foreigner of London growls; can't take much more of the light. "You win this match Chaldeans, next time you won't be so lucky!" He recalls his heads that were clashing with Berserker's and pulls back from Nero's Sword.

The blonde Servant avoided the bullets and Shadows trying to stop him from escaping. But that was avoided as he opens a portal back to the Eternal Palace.

Assassin of the Resistance ceased his firing as the light disappeared.

BB joined back with her master and the others, seeing no point in pursuing the enemy now he's escaped. "Seems like that blondie ran away back to his base." The Moon Cancer stated.

"Should we try and go after him? If we leave him to be then he would cause us more trouble going onward." Ladybug asked, looking around for the opinions of the others.

Ritsuka shook his head, seeing there was no point in going after the enemy. "There's no point, by now he's back at the Eternal Palace."

"Umu, Foreigner of London is not our mission, our mission is to get to the Louvre and unblock the Mana supply," Nero stated, joining up with everyone along with Akutagawa.

Johanna gently floated down to the ground after deploying her Noble Phantasm.

Chat approached his Servant, seeing that their plan in repelling Foreigner worked. "Great job out there, Johanna. You gave Foreigner of London a run for his money." Chat commented with a smile.

"Thank you, mas-er Chat Noir, but I didn't do it alone. I had you backing me." The Ruler Servant smiles at the blonde Hero. "This small victory is yours as well."

Ladybug watches as Chat and Johanna speak causally with each other. She held onto her Command Seals, unsure when was the right time to ask Ritsuka. Deciding now would not be right,

She shook her head before hearing Assassin speak. "Alright, no standing around now. Since Ruler deploy her Noble Phantasm the enemy is bound to find us." Assassin of the Resistance said, "Let's continue with our mission."

"Right!"

"Um…right," Ladybug responded, following them to the Louvre.
