"You shouldn't worry about the new one, just keep going after that first one," Cobra responded. He could sense Lyon tilting his head on the other side.
"And what is your reasoning behind that?" he asked.
"Simple. Change is terrible. There's nothing saying that the one you're going for already will fall for you, but there's even less to say that the one you've only interacted with a couple times will be any better. Just stick with the initial choice and don't rock the boat too much."
"Hmm, well, that is one approach. Although it does feel a little…"
"Simplistic?" Lucy deadpanned. Cobra stopped himself from full-on glaring at her. It would take too long to explain himself via the written word, and he wasn't sure Lucy would accept his decision just because it would be an extra annoyance for him. In fact, it might make her even more gung ho on scoring Meredy a date. He couldn't let that happen. The gears in his brain turned rapidly trying to think up a response that didn't sound completely dismissive.
"Is it though? It might be that he doesn't gain anything, but this way he won't lose anything either. It keeps everything balanced and whatnot."
"I had just been thinking about giving a different answer," Lucy replied, her voice chilly.
