Lucy folded both hands together on the table and looked at him. "I'd really rather we didn't argue, you know. It's a lot more fun when we can work together on something like this." Cobra gave a non-committal shrug. Lucy grinned. He sank a little lower into his seat.
A hand stretched out towards him, slowly, cautiously. He peered at it, for a moment unsure of what it meant. Then he looked at her and saw an almost pleading face. Her other head went to her chest, over her heart. "I do by solemnly swear not to cause any more fights with my partner, even if he is being a bastard." Her tongue sticking out made it seem slightly less sincere, but she continued, "kidding, kidding. No matter what. So, what say you?"
The hand so close to him, watching, waiting for a response. He knew he shouldn't keep her waiting. With only a second of hesitation, he reached out one of his own and grabbed it. The hand, not quite as soft as he'd imagined, but firm and full of life, generously shook his own. "Do I solemnly swear to not cause any more fights, even if the other person has really bad opinions?" He teased a ghost of a smile. "I'll think about it."
Lucy smiled back. "Good enough I suppose." But her expression was one of relief; and Cobra would have been lying if he said he didn't feel the same way.
