The two of them left and parted quickly. Lucy apparently had some appointment to get to. She didn't go into specifics, but strangely, for once he didn't feel the need to ask. With their shared oath fresh on his mind, he didn't even hesitate in letting her go without question. Whatever it was would obviously cause an argument if he pried, and he wouldn't be the first to break the promise, silly as it sounded. Lucy seemed happier too, relief instead of anxiety showing when he let her go without a word about it. He even gave a small wave that she returned with a smile. A feeling of ease returned to him. Relief that the easy-going relationship they'd been fostering was back on track, being able to have witty conversations and then leaving before anything too deep was discussed. Just as it should be.

It wasn't until his thoughts started to meander that he realized he'd walked to the front side of the building. He turned around in a panic, horrified at the thought of being caught at the front even more than the back. Mercifully there was still hardly anyone in sight. Frowning, he straightened up and glanced upwards at the sign, grimacing in the process. It was the same ugly sign with ugly drawings. That demon was never going to fix it, was she?

Still staring at the sign, he put a hand to his chin in thought. Maybe he could take it down quick now? Or at least change the letters, or maybe do a small act of kindness and scrub the strange humanoid blob from existence, like it probably prayed for every night.

He was so absorbed in the fantasy of finally doing in the sign that it took him a second to recognize that a wild beast was sneaking up behind him.
