p class="x1qodse3" dir="auto""You need to work on your social skills." Aislin grumbled to the Angel as she turned to her companion. "And why did you ask if she had visions?" br /br /"Because he did." br /br /"DUDE." br /br /Castiel was overstepping again. Since being granted more power in Heaven he'd lost all the personal qualities he'd gained in his time on Earth. He remembered things, like how he considered Sam Winchester his friend, but the words had no meaning. Castiel didn't understand Aislin's concern when asking Sam that question, nor did he grasp why Sam would want to explain it himself. Someone asked a question. That was reason enough for him to answer it. br /br /"My apologies Sam." br /br /Castiel took a few paces back and stood closer to the corner of the room, away from the action taking place center stage. br /br /"I had visions. They stopped a few years ago. It's a long story for another day. Is your sister going to be okay?" br /br /Aislin ignored the angel in the corner and concentrated on the Winchester in front of her. br /br /"I hope so. That really was like, the worst thing you could have said." br /br /Sam heaved a sigh and Aislin quickly continued, holding him closer. br /br /"I know you didn't know. I don't think she'll hold it against you. It was... you came up with it pretty fast. It was just kinda scary. Scared me a bit too." br /br /Sam wrapped his arms tight around the tiny girl, kissing the top of her head gently, and breathing in the scent of lavender that seemed to consume her. br /br /"Sorry Linney." br /br /She gently shook her head against him. br /br /"No, it's fine. I think scared was the wrong word. Startled. Like maybe you knew more about us than you let on." br /br /"No more than what you told me." br /br /"Which actually brings up something." Aislin turned to Cas, pulling away from Sam. br /br /"You said Vala had to go for her ability and Dean was the bait. You said Sam couldn't go because of the demon seals, but you never said why I couldn't go." br /br /Castiel remained in the shadows, answering the question in his even, unemotional tones. br /"I never said you couldn't because you never couldn't." br /br /Aislin stood with a bemused look on her face. Sam didn't get it either. br /br /Castiel rolled his eyes and unlurked from the corner he'd stuffed himself in, appearing in the light of the room to better explain his explanation. br /br /"You could have gone, but it would have been unwise. Vala and Dean are essential to retrieving Bobby. You, young Aislin, are not." br /br /br /~ ~ ~ ~ ~ br /br /br /Dean pulled off the highway onto the main road leading into Beaver Creek as Vala began to shiver. It was starting to cool off, drastically fast. br /br /The winter-like breeze blew into the Impala and Vala rolled her window up. She felt a jolt of cold shoot through her spine. Vala rubbed her palms over her arms rapidly, hoping the friction generated would help keep her blood pumping. br /br /Dean noticed Vala trying to keep warm and shrugged out of his green jacket, taking one hand off the wheel at a time to free the sleeves from his arms. br /br /Vala lifted her feet to the seat and hugged her legs, rubbing them as well, in an effort to warm up as it cooled off outside. br /br /Dean passed the jacket to her, resting it over her legs for her to take it, brushing her thigh with his hand in the process. br /br /Teeth chattering, she offered a thank you as she draped it over herself like a blanket. Vala wrapped it over her knees and shoulders, pressing her face into the collar and snuggling in. It carried his scent well, smelling of sandalwood and fabric softener, and it was still warm with his body heat. br /br /She smiled and shook at the same time, drawing her companion's attention for a short moment as he cranked the wheel to turn down Millberry Avenue, the street where the warehouse was located. Vala had her head down, breathing in the jacket, when Dean piped up. br /br /"Holy shit." br /br /Vala attention was drawn to the window and her face dropped with his. br /br /The flakes sputtered down sporadically, coloring the clear air with silver as they made their way to the ground. It was snowing. br /br /"Holy shit." Vala mimicked, gazing at the incredible sight. br /br /The wind outside the Impala picked up speed as the car pulled into its location. br /br /The white stuff barrelled down from the sky around the warehouse, resting a foot thick on the ground beneath their feet. br /br /They exited the Impala, Vala putting the green jacket on as she closed the door, and met at the trunk of the car. Dean flipped the lid open to reveal his impressive collection of weapons. Vala stared for a second before speaking. br /br /"I am so turned on right now." br /br /Dean smirked while handing her Ruby's knife and a revolver loaded with silver bullets. She stuck the gun in the back of her pants and tied the knife to the inside of her right arm with elastic bands. Dean smiled at the ingenious idea as he began to explain needlessly. br /br /"Gun's full of silver bullets-" br /br /"-in case of vampires. Got it." br /br /"And the knife –" br /br /"-is the infamous demon-slaying knife." br /br /Dean gave Vala a look, indicating he wasn't happy about being cut off at every turn. Vala shrugged in his warm jacket, throwing her arms half up, her hands buried somewhere within the sleeves. br /"What? You want me to apologise for being smarter than you?" br /br /"You are NOT smarter than me." Dean enforced with a chuckle, turning back to the trunk to load up on weapons for himself. br /br /"Actually, she is." br /br /Dean jumped, banging his head on the car in the process. Vala crossed her arms and smiled. He was adorable when he was hurting himself. br /br /"DAMMIT CAS!" br /br /Dean hid his weapons on his body where he could and rubbed the back of his head. Castiel continued as if nothing had happened. br /br /"We believe they are holding Bobby in the far corner of the building. There is a high concentration of demon activity there." Castiel indicated, pointing a finger in the direction he meant. br /br /"Do you know how many demons we're talking about?" Vala asked the angel, taking the words right from Dean's mouth. br /br /"Fifteen." br /br /"Seriously?" br /br /"Yes Dean. I counted." br /br /Vala smiled at Castiel's continued monotonous tones. He was becoming almost impatient as the snow flitted around him, miraculously, never coming into contact with any part of him. br /br /"There's just one last thing." The angel began. "Vala?" br /br /She turned to look at him and for the first time she could sense Castiel and his true presence. She felt his warmth glowing from within her as they stared wordlessly at each other. Castiel was the one to break the silence that was frustrating Dean with one word. br /br /"Instinct." br /br /And with that last word of wisdom, the Angel of Thursday vanished, leaving Dean and Vala to enter the warehouse in peace and terror. br /br /Things only seemed to get worse for Vala once they entered the warehouse. Dean had gently closed the door behind them and stopped when he saw his partner wasn't moving. He didn't say a word, but watched as she looked left, then right, then left again. br /br /'What?' he shrugged, afraid to make a noise and be found. br /br /"Bobby's this way." Vala whispered, pointing in the opposite direction Cas had given them. br /br /"You sure?" br /br /Vala nodded enthusiastically, the grimace still on her face. br /br /"There are lots of demons down there," Vala pointed "but I think it's a trap." br /br /Dean tilted his head, looking down at her now. br /br /"You THINK." br /br /"I KNOW Bobby's down there. I THINK that's a trap. YES, I am smarter than you." Vala reminded him, taking the opportunity to slink past him and head down the hallway in the direction Bobby was in. br /br /br /Vala continued to follow her gut while Dean followed her. He kept his mind focused on finding Bobby and getting out of the warehouse alive, but he couldn't keep his eyes from drifting to the shorts Vala had chosen to wear. It was as though she did in intentionally, knowing he couldn't resist a sweet, full – br /br /Vala stopped short as they reached an archway and Dean ran straight into her. She turned to him and he offered a look of apology. Vala poked her head around the corner and indicated to her crime buddy that there were 2 black-eyed demons guarding the door on the other side. br /br /Dean tried to think of a way to tell her his plan without speaking and drawing attention to them, but he failed miserably. br /br /As a last resort, he leaned into her, whispering with his warm breath and husky voice. br /br /"Call out for help like you're being attacked. It should draw at least one of them out here so we can gank it. I don't have a second demon killing knife." br /br /Vala let the shiver of lust roll down her spine, reminding herself how close they were to saving Bobby as Dean pulled back from her reluctantly. Vala nodded and Dean counted to three. br /br /"NO! HELP ME, SOMEBODY HELP. I SAID NO, STOP IT. HELP!" br /br /Vala smiled as the commotion she'd stirred caused one of the guards to cross out into the hallway. She slit its throat within a millisecond of it appearing and the vessel it was possessing collapsed onto the floor. br /br /The second demon, probably the dumber of the two, hesitated a second. Vala held a finger up to tell Dean to hold on a minute. Just as she did the footsteps started and grew closer quickly. The second demon stopped at the entrance to the tiny foyer and Vala counted to two in her head. He stuck his out and promptly lost it, Vala digging the knife deep into side of his neck. br /br /Dean was more than impressed by Vala ability to control the situation, no matter what situation. She didn't blink twice at the two lumps of human beneath her feet as she crossed over their bodies to enter the entrance to the entrance. br /br /He followed her, like he had been doing, without a sound and stopped when she did. Vala pressed an ear to the door in the hopes that she'd be able to hear something or someone on the other side, but it was quieter than a mouse. br /br /She shrugged to Dean. He mouthed 'Bobby in there?' and Vala nodded a yes. That much she was sure of. Dean thought for a moment, as did Vala. Then he leaned in to whisper again. br /br /"Can you use... your sense thing to tell if there's anyone else in there?" br /br /Vala closed her eyes and concentrated, but Dean was emitting too much to feel on the other side of the door. She opened her eyes and stood on her tip toes, pulling his face down to meet hers. She whispered to him. br /br /"You need to back up. I can't feel past you." br /br /Dean hesitantly backed away to the other side of the room while Vala tried again. She could feel Bobby strongly, and pushed that sensation to the back of her mind. She was still a moment before she opened her eyes to face Dean again. She shook her head and frowned. Nothing. br /br /Dean moved back, sliding in front of her to face the door, coming within millimetres of it. He wrapped his right hand around the doorknob before turning to Vala once more. He sighed, slowing turning the knob and counting to three before flinging the door open. br /br /Both Dean and Vala took a defensive stance as they gazed around the room, brandishing their weapons. They neglected to see anything, except Bobby chained to the wall on their left with steel restraints. br /br /"Bobby." Vala's heart raced. br /br /As soon as Dean moved in Bobby's direction, he was flung off his feet to his right, crashing into the hastily built wooden table in the center of the room. br /br /Vala entered the room and rushed to Dean's aid, attempting to help him to his feet. br /br /But she froze when she reached him, feeling a tingle trickle down her spine. Dean's expression was the same he wore at the vampire house and the hospital when Vala had tried to leave him on his own. The look of sheer terror. There was the sensation of another ticklish tremor as she stood up, bringing Dean with her. br /br /"Quit it. That tickles." Vala grumbled, turning around to see who was assaulting them when Dean made mention of his name, his voice creeking with emotion. br /br /"Alastair." /p
