Gabby turned and walked down the hall to her room. She was reaching in her purse for her room key when she heard footsteps coming down the hall behind her. She turned to see who it was. "Kelly, what-" she started, but he silenced her by leaning down and kissing her.

Gabby didn't respond at first, her brain still trying to register what the hell had just happened, but then, almost by instinct, she kissed him back. Kelly responded by deepening the kiss, wrapping one arm around her waist while bracing the other against the wall and pulling her against him.

Kelly pulled his lips away slightly. "I wasn't ready to say goodbye yet," he murmured, looking into her eyes, his faces inches from hers. "Please, Gabby." Gabby nodded, knowing exactly what he was asking. She fumbled in her bag for her room key, finally finding it and unlocking the door.

As soon as they were inside, Kelly was pushing her against the door and kissing her, hard. Gabby's hands were tangled in his hair, and, remembering how he'd responded the previous night, she pushed herself against him and wiggled her hips, ever so slightly. She grinned when she felt him harden against her, so she repeated the movement, and he moaned into her mouth in response.

He pulled his mouth away from hers and began kissing down her neck. She gasped when he hit a certain spot at the base of her neck, and she felt him grin.

"You looked beautiful tonight," he whispered against her skin as he made his way back up her neck.

Gabby chuckled breathlessly. "Now you decide to be eloquent?"

"Mhmm," Kelly murmured, nuzzling her neck, searching for that spot again.

"Kelly," Gabby breathed as he found it and started kissing her there. She bit back a moan as he began sucking on the spot. She shifted against him, causing him to let out his own moan, vibrating her neck. She repeated the motion and he growled, lifting her up and onto his hips and kissing her while walking over to the bed, where he gently set her down without breaking the kiss.

Gabby's hands immediately flew to his belt, fumbling with the buckle until she finally got it off. Before she could do anything else, Kelly's arms were around her, pressing her into himself. "Kelly," she gasped, "are you sure?"

Kelly pulled back and looked at her, wearing his trademark Severide smirk. "I told you I wouldn't mind making it a two time thing, didn't I?" He gently spun Gabby around and lifted her hair off of her back so he could access her zipper. Once he'd unzipped her dress, he turned her back around and began to slide it down her body. "Are you sure?" he asked, searching her eyes for even the slightest hesitation.

Gabby nodded. "Yes," she replied, then laughed. "I don't remember the last time I had a one-night stand, much less a two night stand." She needed something to take her mind off of the news Kelly had given her earlier, and mindless sex seemed like the best option right now. She stepped out of her dress and unbuttoned and unzipped his pants, letting them fall to the ground.

Kelly took a step towards her. "I'm glad you were here," he whispered before taking her into his arms and kissing her. The two quickly rid each other of their remaining clothes before falling into bed, their bodies tangling together.

Kelly woke up first the next morning and stretched before rolling over to look at the clock. Nine AM. He only had two more hours before he had to leave for the airport to head back to Chicago, where he would be greeted by an empty apartment and plenty of questions from his shiftmates.

He rolled back over, watching Gabby sleep next to him. He didn't know what he would have done without her these past two nights. She'd been a godsend; a welcome distraction from having to think about the breakup. He still wasn't entirely sure what had possessed him to sleep with her, but in a way, it had been exactly what he'd needed: mind-blowingly good, no strings attached sex with someone that he wouldn't have to worry about wanting something more.

"Stop watching me sleep. It's creepy," Gabby muttered, making Kelly laugh. She opened her eyes just enough to glare at him before shutting them again. "What time is it?" she asked.

"Nine," Kelly replied.

Gabby groaned. "I leave for the airport in a little over an hour."

"I have to be there in two hours; want to share a cab?" Kelly suggested.

Gabby rolled over to look at him. "Sure," she replied simply, knowing how much Kelly didn't want to be alone right now. To be honest, neither did she.

"What's next for you? Are you heading back to Puerto Rico?" Kelly questioned.

Gabby nodded. "At least for now. Things are wrapping up there, so we'll be moving on soon, but I don't know where." She sighed. "Or even if I'll be going there. The way Angela keeps pushing me to become a permanent part of the corporate team so I can attend more fundraisers…" she trailed off. "What about you?" she asked after a few minutes. "What are you going to do once you get back to Chicago? Are you going to be okay?"

Kelly shrugged. "I'll be fine. I have the firehouse to keep me busy. Plus I've been helping out OFI with some arson cases. I just have to get through packing up Stella's things first. And dealing with all of the questions coming my way. I'm sure by now Boden's told everyone that Stella's not coming back."

An hour later, Kelly and Gabby had just finished unloading their bags from their cab and were walking inside the airport.

Kelly chuckled, and Gabby looked at him, confused. "What's so funny?" she asked.

"Nothing; it's just that out of all of the hotels in New York City, we ended up at the same one, and we're flying out of the same airport on the same day. I spent a whole day trying to track Stella down and chose my hotel at random simply because I needed somewhere to stay," Kelly replied.

"I honestly wasn't sure it was you at first when I saw you sitting at that bar," Gabby informed him. "I thought there was no way Kelly Severide was in New York, much less at the same hotel as me. I almost kept walking, but I just couldn't leave without knowing." She laughed. "What a crazy coincidence."

Before long they were through security, and it was time for them to part ways to go to their different gates. Kelly pulled Gabby into a hug. "Thank you for everything," he told her.

Gabby smiled, looking up at him. "Of course. Take care of yourself, Kelly. Stella may not have been the one for you, but that woman is out there, somewhere. I promise."
