The Deepening Mystery
Rafael, Lisa, Fred, and George crept out of Gryffindor Tower, they were headed right for Dumbledore's office.
When they had a run in with Professor McGonagall.
"Mister Fred Weasley, Mister George Weasley, Miss Atwood, and Mister Moondance," Professor McGonagall scolded sharply. "you shouldn't be roaming the corridors this late at night!"
"We know, Professor Mchonagall," Lisa said. "but we need to see Professor Dumbledore, right away!"
"I will take you to him." Professor McGonagall said to the foursome.
Upon arrival in his office, Dumblebore looked over his glasses at Lisa, a grave expression was on his face.
"This is troubling to say the least, Miss Atwood," Dumbledore stated. "I assure you that this school frowns upon any invasion of privacy and every effort will be made to find your diary and punish the culprit, or culprits as the case may be."
"Thank you, Professor Dumbledore," Lisa said. "I'm sure that whoever stole my diary is the same person or persons who trashed my bedroom."
"As am I," Dumbledore replied. "and I'm also sure that Fred and George will keep me apprised of any information their black market contact gives them."
Fred and George looked stunned, "Whoa!" the two sixth years exclaimed.
Dumbledore's eyes twinkled in amusement, "Don't look so surprised, gentleman, this school's black market has existed since long before your time." he said.
"That diary holds a really painful memory of mine, Headmaster." Lisa protested.
"I'm sure it does, Miss Atwood," Dumbledore said. "best not to worry about in anymore tonight, you've all got classes in the morning."
"Yes, Professor." Rafael yawned, stretching to the ceiling.
"Good night." Fred and George yawned.
"Good night, Headmaster." Lisa yawned.
The four weary Gryffindor students left the headmaster's office to retire to their dormitories.
That night after putting his pajamas on, Rafael donned his romani crystal and fell asleep instantly.
Fred and George didn't heed the headmaster, for they were meeting their contact, Malcom Preece, one of Hufflepuff's chasers down in the dungeons near the door to the dueling club room.
The twins both had their arms folded across their chests and were glaring at Malcom.
Malcom looked nervous he suspected why they were there.
Even though George and Fred were pranksters, there were lines even they wouldn't cross and stealing someone's diary was one of them.
"Start talking Malcom," George growled, "and don't try to play dumb!"
"'Yeah," Fred said. "Lisa's diary was stolen by someone using polyjuice potion, and I'll just bet you can name names."
Fred grabbed Malcom by his shirt and slammed him against the stone wall of the dank dungeon.
"Guys," Malcom started. "I get so many customers every day that I can't be expected to remember..."
"Don't try to hand us that," Fred snapped angrily. "you make more money selling one batch of Polyjuice ingredients that you do from a months worth of selling regular ingredients!"
"Yeah," George said. "so we know full well that is one sale that you're not likely to forget! So knock off the con job and come across with those names!"
"But my clients trust me to keep the sales confidential!" Malcom whined.
"Oh you're breaking my heart," Fred snapped, losing even more of his patience. "either you come across with those names or we'll tell Professor Sprout who's been swiping the rare healing herbs out of her personal greenhouse!"
The color drained out of Malcom's face leaving nothing but fear, "You knew about that?" he said fearfully.
Fred and George nodded.
"Yes, we do." George told Malcom.
"And you know that if Professor Sprout finds out that you're the herb thief, you'll get expelled and Hufflepuff would lose so many points that there's not way they would win the house cup! Not to mention Cedric will kick you off the Hufflepuff Quiddich team!" Fred added.
"Okay, okay," Malcom said. "it was Crabb and Goyle! They then handed Lisa's diary off to Pansy and Malfoy, who took a dive into Lisa's most painful memory!"
Fred let Malcom go and Malcom raced back to the Hufflepuff common room.
Fred and George decided to do the same before Professor McGonagall gave them detention.
In Rafael's bedroom, he was having a dream.
Within his dream, Rafael, Lisa, and Carmen were talking, the conversation was one that Rafael felt he should have had with her already.
"Don't worry, Raf," Carmen said smiling, "I liked Lisa from the moment you described her, if I didn't I wouldn't have sabotaged your relationship with Romina!"
"What," Rafael exclaimed. "you mean you didn't squeal about my dreams just to annoy me!"
"Course not," Carmen smirked. "I always have a plan."
Rafael just shook his head in disbelief and smiled at Lisa.
"She is a sneaky one." Lisa said of Carmen.
Before Rafael could respond to his sister, he was jarred awake by a pounding on his door, he rubbed sleep out of his eyes and looked at his pocket watch, it was three in the morning.
"Who could that be this time of night?" Rafael muttered, getting up and opening the door.
Fred and George were there.
"Rafael," the twins said. "we've got some information!"
"Can't this wait until morning?" Rafael groaned irritably.
"But we know who bought the ingredients and made the Polyjuice potion," Fred said. "Malcom talked!"
"It was Crabbe and Goyle! They then handed Lisa's diary off to Pansy and Malfoy, who took a dive into Lisa's most painful memory!" George added.
"I can't say that I'm surprised," Rafael said, shaking his head. "but I don't know that there's anything that we can do about it at three o'clock in the morning!"
"Yeah, I guess it is kind of late," Fred agreed.
"You think," Rafael said. "I'll tell Lisa at breakfast and you two had better get some sleep too, tomorrow is Potions class and you two won't get away with sleeping in the back row of Snape's class!"
The twins left Rafael's bedroom to go to their own dormitory.
The next morning, Rafael sat next to Lisa at breakfast at the Gryffindor table and he was getting nervous.
"Lisa, I-I know who stole your diary." Rafael said nervously.
"You do?" Lisa asked.
"It was Crabbe and Goyle, they then handed your diary off to Pansy and Malfoy, who took a dive into your most painful memory!" Rafael answered.
Now, Lisa was determined, "I am going to squash Malfoy and his gang like the cockroaches that they are!" she exclaimed.
