Improving Day By Day

"Don't worry, Michael," KC said. "I'll ask Dumbledore if we can bring some food in here for you."

"Thanks, KC." Michael said.

Three days after his surgery, Michael's friends gathered around as his dad lined up Michael's wheelchair at one end of a set of parallel bars.

"Are you ready walk, Son?" Doctor Bennett asked.

"As ready as I'll ever be," Michael said. "I can't believe I'm having to go through this again."

"Me either." his father said, he helped Michael stand up between the bars.

Michael began to slowly walk along between the bars as his friends walked along beside him.

When Michael got to the end of the parallel bars, he turned around went back toward the wheelchair, but by the time he got there, he didn't feel like he needed it anymore.

"My legs feel normal now, Dad!" Michael exclaimed, letting go of the bars.

Doctor Bennett pulled out a special scanner that allowed him to scan his son's bionics, "It seems the Nano-tech I added to your system has accelerated your body's adaptation to it's new bionic systems." he said to Michael.

"That's great," Michael said, suddenly he was hit with a wave of dizziness and had to grab the bars again. "Okay, I guess I'm still adapting."

"You still need to rest some more." his dad said.

"Can I take him back to Hufflepuff to rest up?" KC asked Doctor Bennett.

"Yeah," Michael said. "I'm a little tired of camping out in the hospitalwing."

"I suppose that would be okay," his dad said. "we'll continue this tomorrow."

Nathan helped Michael back into the wheelchair and KC pushed him out the door, the others followed along.

They came out of the hospital wing and started to the main atrium outside the great hall.

"Hey guys," Neville called. "you want in on the gobstones tournament?"

That was when they all noticed that there were about ten different games of gobstones going on in every corner of the grand atrium.

"That sounds like fun." Michael said.

"MJ," KC said. "your dad said you were supposed to rest!"

Michael rolled his eyes playfully, "Yes, Mother." he said sarcastically, earning him a playful shove.

Just as they turned the corner and were out of sight of the main atrium, they suddenly realized that Lisa and the others weren't with them anymore.

"I guess they couldn't resist the tournament." KC chuckled.

Michael nodded and smiled, "Yep," he replied.

They hadn't gone very much farther, when suddenly they were confronted by Malfoy.

"You can't throw me across the room now Wheelchair Boy!" Draco jeered.

before KC could react Malfoy threw a Flipendo at Michael.

But to Michael's surprise as well as Draco's, the Flipendo bounced off a forcefield that suddenly emanated from Michael's person and ricocheted back at Malfoy hitting him and knocking backwards end over end.

Malfoy hit the ground with a loud thump as Lisa and the others came running around the corner, attracted by the noise.

"Get out of here, Malfoy," Lisa snapped warningly. "if you cost Slytherin any more points, Snape is going to flip out!"

At the mention of the Slytherin head's name, the fight drained out of Malfoy and he quickly fled back the way he came.

"Was that a forcefield?!" KC asked, turning to Michael.

"I think so," Michael said. "it must be one of those new abilities Dad said I might develop!"

"I wonder what else you'll develop?" Lisa said.

"Who knows," Michael said. "who knows!"
