A shorter chapter cause I didn't know what else to do.

In a plains at night.

"You almost got it that time. Keep going." Said Nightclad encouragingly as Finn slashed the air in front of him.

Finn laughed happily as he kept on slashing the air with his sword while Jake watched from the background laughing just like him. A bear also sat with them with some dogs.

Everyone was happy and no trouble could happen...or that was how it should've been. A snail with a book appeared and approached Nightclad causing the hero to go silent and stare at it.

Suddenly as a golden owl reflected off of Finn's sword, The snail began whispering something as the book's pages ruffled in the wind and suddenly, half of Nightclad's armour was blown to bits, showing an empty husk inside.

"Dark times are coming." Said the bear calmly.

The snail began to grow in size and twisting into a hideous form that lunged towards Nightclad without resistance... causing Finn to wake up.

Finn woke up from his dream screaming and flailing about, causing him to fall off his bed.

"You alright, buddy?" Asked Jake in concern. "Another nightmare?"

"Yeah. That dang snail again, man...Muckin' it up again. But...there were other guys this time, too. The bear was there, and some dogs, and Nightclad," Replied Finn tiredly. "he got hurt by something fierce man. Somethin' real fierce!...and the Cosmic Owl was there, to kinda screechin' it up."

"Whoa, the Cosmic Owl?" Asked Jake in surprise. "What if that was a premonition dream, Finn?"

"You think?" Asked Finn as he got off the floor.

"Could be...wish we could ask Nightclad." Said Jake dejectedly. "He'd know what to do."

"Yeah, but the he's pretty strict with his personal info. We don't know where he lives, his phone number not even his face." Replied Finn dejectedly before sighing. "He even stopped passing by a while ago."

"Maybe he has a family." Said Jake with a smile. "And on the noble quest to protect Ooo, he can't afford to let his enemies know of their secret identity."

Finn narrowed his eyes. "But can't he just kick their butts super easy?" Asked Finn in confusion.

Jake shrugged before silence filled the area, prompting him to break it. "I dreamt I was in kindergarten again, but I had really big feet and was also the teacher."

Suddenly, a rock broke through one of the room's windows scaring the duo. Jake, angry and frowning, stretched towards the window to see who did this. But all he found was Nightclad laying on the ground with a black cloak hiding his head and bandages wrapped around one of his arms and one of his legs. He also had a side bag hanging off his shoulder.

Jake immediately freaked out and stretched outside. "I'm coming Nightclad!" He said before grabbing the hero and laying him down in their bedroom.

Finn equally freaked out when he saw the defeated Nightclad. "Nightclad! This is just like my dream." He said in shock before turning to the fallen hero. "Dude, what happened?"

The hero slowly got up and spoke. "Your dream?"

"I had a dream where you got killed by a snail or something." Replied Finn wincing.

Nightclad paused. "Was the cosmic owl there?" He asked in a grave tone, prompting Finn to nod. "Then we need to hurry."

"Hurry? Why?" Asked Finn in confusion.

"To save all life from the Lich, of course! Are you with me?"

"...yes." said Finn with starry eyes.

And so they began their quest. A quest to gather all the gems of power in Ooo.

The trio ran around all of Ooo in the middle of the night snatching every gem from every crown they found...until there were two.

The trio settled down for sandwiches in red rock pass for a rest before their final heist.

"I want candy." Said Finn cheerfully as he checked Nightclad's bag. "You got anything in the saddlebag?"

Before Nightclad could stop the boy, Finn already pulled out whatever was in the bag revealing it to be the Enchiridion.

"The Enchiridion? How'd you get this?!" Asked Finn in shock.

"I found it in the mouth of a bear." Replied Nightclad calmly.

"A bear?" Asked Finn.

"This book is REALLY important." Said Nightclad calmly as he took back the book. "It has magical powers. It can lead to other dimensions like prismo's time room or a reality just like ours but just a tad different. Unfortunately, however, we can't use it without the key."

"Key?" Asked Jake curiously.

"A gem that can unlock the true power of the Enchiridion." Said Nightclad calmly. "Unfortunately, it was stolen a long time ago. But we'll have to get it back."

Finn nodded excitedly. "Alright, who's the jerk who stole it?" He asked with a smile.

Nightclad flinched. "It was the same person who did this to me." He said in a shakey tone gesturing towards his cloak and bandages. "The Wizard King."

It was the first time Finn and Jake saw their hero so...shaken by something. He looked...afraid. Was this wizard king really that scary? And more importantly...

"Wizards have a king?" Asked Jake curiously.

"Yeah, I've never heard of him." Added Finn curiously.

Nightclad paused. "That's not a surprise. He hates associating with other wizards so they rarely speak of him." He said in a shakey tone. "He and I fought and you can see the result."

"Must've been intense." Remarked Finn in awe.

"And at least he's just as hurt as you are, right." Added Jake with a smile causing Nightclad to go silent. "Right?"

"There's no point comparing A wizard with THE KING of wizards." Replied Nightclad calmly. "Luckily, you two seem to be close with him. He might let his guard down enough for us to take the key."

This made Finn and Jake confused. They knew this wizard king jerk? Nightclad saw that and spoke.

"His name is... Marshall Abadeer."

At Princess Bubblegum's castle.

"*Yawn* your last comic book did pretty well, but are you sure about the profit distribution?" Asked PB calmly. "I mean, leaving the whole decision to me is pretty unfair for you."

"*Yawn* I once woke up with a gold bar stuck in my mouth. I'm good on funds." Replied Marshall wearing an open red jacket with a black sweater calmly and black jeans. "Plus, any money I actually earn would go to OC in case I disappear or die or something."

"I'll keep that in mind." Replied PB tiredly with a nod as two figures slithered into the room. "Is there anything else we should discuss?"

But before Marshall could reply, he was smacked on the head with a yellow hammer while PB had a duffel bag put over her head.

By the time the two recovered from the sudden attack, they noticed two items missing. PB's crown's jewel and Marshall's Billy's gem earring.

"No no no no." Exclaimed Marshall angrily as his eyes glowed yellow.

"We need to hurry!" Exclaimed PB in a panic.

The ex hero nodded before carrying PB in his arms and dashing out of the window and sliding over the candy kingdom on a slide of frozen coffee.

"Uhm, is that coffee?" Asked PB raising a brow.

"It's what happens when I have a headache, okay?" Replied Marshall angrily. "It's why I wore a helmet."

PB noted what the ex hero said as they finally made it to the ground where Finn and Jake were running towards a familiar figure with a completed enchiridion. Although it looked like Nightclad, Marshall knew who was under the helmet and it made him mad.

Marshall put PB down and created a spear made of frozen coffee and threw it at the Lich as hard as he possibly could boosted with magic. The spear slammed into the Lich's head before it began ripping apart the cloth hiding his face.

"Marshall, NO!" Exclaimed Finn watching his hero writhe in pain.

"Nightclad!" Exclaimed Jake in shock at Marshall's cruelty.

"That's not Nightclad!" Exclaimed PB in a panic. "It's THE LICH!"

Surprised by what PB said, Finn and Jake turned to their fallen hero to see that his true identity. It was the Lich.

"Give me the book, child." Said the Lich in a hurry, causing Finn to back away.

Before Finn could do anything else, Marshall dashed towards the Lich with a gauntlet made of frozen coffee and slammed it into his chest.

But instead of getting hurt, the Lich laughed. Marshall was confused before noticing WHAT he was punching. It was his armour. It could protect from much more than just a powerful punch and the Lich was wearing it.

The ex hero jumped back and frowned. "I'm gonna rip your spine out and shove it down your throat." Marshall said menacingly, although things weren't looking good.

He was weakened because of his headache and the Lich had powerful armour he couldn't break through. The Lich seemed to laugh upon coming to this same conclusion. If only Jake didn't hit him on the head.

The Lich turned to Finn and spoke. "Child, quickly, give me the book!"

"Lich! You...You messed Nightclad up! You just wanna mess me all up! Mess everyone up! You tricked me!" Exclaimed Finn in a panic.

"No, it's true. The book-" said the Lich before he had to block a whip of liquid coffee using the armour.

"Finn, run away. NOW!" Exclaimed Marshall angrily.

"And let your friends die?" Asked the Lich calmly.

"Oh no no no no no no no NO MORE TRICKS!" Replied Finn slamming the enchiridion into his knee causing it crack. "YOU'LL NEVER GET THIS BOOK!"

"NO!" Exclaimed both Marshall and the Lich in union as Finn continued to slam the book into his knee until it finally broke causing an explosion that knocked Marshall, Finn and Jake away and left in it's place a portal.

The Lich smirked before he started walking towards the portal.

Marshall, unable to properly focus due to a devastating headache, could only watch as the Lich walked forwards. He knew this is what's supposed to happen, but he hated it nonetheless. All he could do now is egg Finn and Jake on.

"JAKE, DON'T LET HIM GO THROUGH THE PORTAL!" Exclaimed Marshall as he slowly got off the ground.

Jake, who was barely able to move from the explosion wrapped his arms around the Lich's legs trying to stop him, but to no avail. The Lich just kept on moving despite Jake.

Soon, Finn managed to get up and latch onto Jake's back, causing Marshall to remember something.

"FINN! THINK BEFORE YOU WISH! THE LICH CAN'T JUST BE ERASED FROM EXISTENCE!"

And the moment the words reached Finn's ears, he, Jake and the Lich made it through the portal before it closed behind them leaving Marshall to wonder if he should've said that.

If everything would be alright.
