Marshall and Marceline sat together in a grassy plains at night staring at the stars above.
"Y'know what? You're right. This is pretty nice." Said Marshall with a smile.
"Told you." Replied Marceline cheerfully. "You need to relax more."
"Yeah, it's just hard to with all the crazy stuff in the world." Replied Marshall calmly with a shrug.
"Eh, it's not THAT crazy." Replied Marceline with a chuckle.
"Marcy, some people in Ooo worship Glob." Said Marshall calmly before pointing to the sky. "And they're just over there! Heck! I'm friends with them!"
Marceline paused. "That's...cool." She said raising a brow. "They're in the sky?"
"No. Mars." Replied Marshall calmly. "I can take us there right now and we can meet them. Just a tiny trip."
Marceline stared at her brother as if he was insane. "I think your magic might be messing with your perspective." She deadpanned. "Usually, people wouldn't call the distance to mars a short trip."
Marshall tried to say something but stopped. His sister was right. What kind of person would call the distance between these two planets a tiny trip?
"I guess." Replied Marshall with a shrug.
Marceline frowned. "Man, you're stiff. You need to loosen up a little."
"I thought I was doing that already?" Asked Marshall in confusion.
"Nah. If you were, you'd say a joke like-" said Marceline with a mischievous grin. "-oh, I guess that's just the effect of my awesome magical powers."
Marshall frowned. "But that's mean!" He said causing Marceline to pause.
Suddenly, the vampire queen burst into laughter. "PFFT! You're such a boy scout!" She said in between laughs.
"Hey! I'm not!" Replied Marshall with a deep frown.
"Yes, you are." Marceline teased her brother with a grin.
"Am not!" Retorted the wizard king with a deep frown, crossing his arms. "I'm a certified bad boy."
Marceline burst into laughter. "You look so serious!" She said causing her brother to frown harder.
Looking back at it, it was a great day.

At Marshall's.
Marshall layed on his bed with a blank expression. "That was a good dream." He said as his mouth curled up into a smile despite the quantity of grass and flowers growing out of his bed.
The wizard rubbed his eyes as he got off of his bed and removed the grass and flowers. He hummed cheerfully as he changed his clothes into a blue and black puppy-themed sweater, black pants. He also wore Billy's gem earring.
He floated slightly above the floor before heading downstairs as he thought about what he can do today.
That all stopped when he saw Finn and Jake sitting together in his living room. Did something happen? He quickly got a little worried at that thought before Finn suddenly tackled him on his way down.
"We're here for hero training!" Declared Finn suddenly.
Marshall could only stare at Finn and Jake in confusion before asking. "What are you talking about?"
"We wanna be like you man." Replied Finn cheerfully.
"No, just him." Added Jake calmly.
"That's- Finn, no." Said Marshall tiredly as he made Finn float in the air and off of him before heading to the living room. "I'm retired from all heroic activities."
Marshall made a mug of coffee appear in his hands before heading to the living room as he let Finn down on the ground. The young hero immediately followed the wizard the moment he sat down and Finn stared at him intently.
"Does the coffee give you strength or something?" Asked Finn curiously causing Marshall to sigh. "Can I have a cup?"
"No. I just like coffee." Said the ex hero in frustration. "Plus, you wouldn't like it. It doesn't have any sugar or milk in it."
"Sugar and milk are bad, got it." Replied Finn with a determined nod as he pulled out a notepad and started writing.
"No- I mean- look, can't you just treat me like Marshall again?" Asked Marshall dejectedly. "Just regular old Marshall."
"But- but you're like THE hero!" Exclaimed Finn excitedly. "You were even in the enchiridion!"
"Everything is in the enchiridion, Finn." Replied Marshall pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's an infinite book."
"But-" Finn tried to counter before Marshall froze him in time.
Marshall took a sip of his coffee before turning to Jake and sighing. "Please, don't tell me you're gonna act like him." He said tiredly.
"Nah, I'm good with being in your general vicinity." Said Jake with a smile.
Marshall sighed in relief before turning to the frozen Finn. What can he do to dissuade him from looking up to Nightclad? He turned to OC for an answer before the orb smiled.
"Don't look at me. I'm here to watch the chaos, not stop it." She replied cheerfully causing the wizard to sigh.
Suddenly, an idea struck Marshall. He quickly unfroze Finn and covered the boy's mouth before he could start whatever he was saying.
"Finn, if I was a bad role model would you still look up to me?" Asked Marshall in a serious tone.
Finn, unable to talk because of Marshall's hand on his mouth, shook his head making Marshall smile.
"Alright then, it's decided." Said Marshall cheerfully. "I will show you how much of a bad boy I can be."
It was time to prove both Finn and Marcy wrong.

In a forest.
Finn and Jake stood in a forest surrounded by trees in front of Marshall standing in front of them with a plastic cup in his hand.
"Now, for my first bad boy act-" said Marshall with an evil smile. "I will throw this plastic cup in this forest and leave it there!"
Finn gasped in shock. "But what if some poor animal eats it and chokes on the cup?!" He exclaimed in shock.
Marshall froze. What IF that really happened? Could he really kill an innocent creature just to get Finn off of him? The ex hero gulped as he extended his hand to throw the cup. But he couldn't let go of the cup. What kind of monster would he become if he were to destroy innocent lives like this?
"Yes yes. Let the heroic thoughts win, Nightclad!" Said Finn upon seeing Marshall's hesitance.
Marshall shut his eyes tight before making his decision. He erased the cup from existence before sighing in relief.
"Yes!" Exclaimed Finn happily causing Marshall to frown.
"For the record, that wasn't because I felt bad for any creature that might be harmed by my decision." He said in a serious tone. "I'm just a bad boy with standards."
Finn wasn't even listening as he celebrated alone, leaving Jake to check on Marshall.
"Hey man. Don't sweat it. You're just a nice dude and that's great." Said Jake patting the wizard on the back.
"But I have to be a bad dude to get Finn back to normal!" Replied Marshall dejectedly. "I need to do something that is truly deplorable!"
Jake went silent as Marshall donned a determined expression and teleported all of them away to an alley in the candy kingdom.
"I'm gonna vandalize some walls!" Declared Marshall in a serious tone as a can of spraw paint fell into his hands from nowhere.
He then turned to a wall and wrote "you smell". But as he was finishing it, he realized something. The candy kingdom was mostly composed of idiots. How many of them would read this and actually think they smelled bad? Would he cause a catastrophe where everyone starts showering uncontrollably? Would he cause mass depression to fall upon this kingdom? Would he hurt people?
Marshall quickly panicked and made the wall say "you smell good" instead.
"Yes! Still a hero!" Exclaimed Finn happily causing Marshall to get frustrated.
"Finn, maybe you should tone it down a bit." Said Jake in concern.
In his frustration, Marshall got out of the alley and looked around for any candy citizens. He quickly found a banana guard and got their attention.
"Hey! You!" Said Marshall angrily. "You suck!"
The banana guard turned to him and slumped dejectedly at the insult. "Aww man."
Marshall immediately felt bad for the guard. "Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. I'm just trying to be a little bad." He said scratching the back of his head before creating a plushie of the banana guard. "Here, a plushie of you as an apology."
The banana guard gasped before taking the plushie and hugging it. He cheered happily and thanked Marshall before going on his merry way.
"Ugh, why can't I be just a bit mean to random strangers?" Asked Marshall with a frown. "I don't even know them or things they've gone through. They could be jerks for all I know!...or someone having a really bad day."
Marshall groaned. He couldn't grasp how to be a bad boy no matter how hard he tried. "Marceline was right; I am a boy scout."
As if on que, Finn and Jake arrived on the scene prompting Marshall to turn to them and speak. "I give up. I'll do whatever you want, Finn."
Finn's face immediately brightened. "YES! Make me your student!"
Marshall pinched the bridge of his nose. "You don't need it, but sure."
Finn cheered happily while Jake looked at a tired looking Marshall in concern.
"What's my first lesson?" Asked Finn excitedly.
Marshall went silent. What did Finn need to learn? He was strong enough already, so what could this lesson be.
Marshall smiled as he realized what the lesson should be. A lesson he learned far too late in his life and a lesson that would get Finn to go back to normal. But how could he convey the lesson properly? An idea quickly struck him and the ex hero immediately teleported back to his home with Finn and Jake.
"OC, prepare the kitchen!" Declared Marshall cheerfully. "We'll be cooking a LOT of potatoes!"
Finn and Jake stared at Marshall in confusion as they were both forced to start cooking.

Later.
"Jake, how're the confit potatoes?" Asked Marshall in a panic as he made some tater tots. "
"Pretty good, Marsh!" Exclaimed Jake cheerfully as he cooked his share of potatoes. "Just keep going on the tots, you're doing good!"
"Finn! What's the situation with the waffle fries?" Asked Marshall in a serious tone.
"Almost done!" Replied Finn with a determined expression as he made the waffle fries.
"OC!"
"Baked potatoes done!" Replied OC cheerfully as she held a plate of baked potatoes.
"Waffle fries done!" Added Finn.
"Confit done!" Added Jake cheerfully.
"Mashed potatoes done!" Finished Marshall cheerfully.
"Phew! How many batches was that?" Asked Finn in horror. "We can't eat all of it."
"We're not eating all of them." Said Marshall with a chuckle. "We're giving them out to friends and family. I've even made some completely red potatoes with magic for Marcy."
"So is the lesson to be generous?" Asked Finn raising a brow.
Marshall replied with another question. "Finn, did you have fun cooking with everyone here?"
"I mean, yeah. It was pretty fun." Replied Finn cheerfully.
"I did too and it's a reminder. A reminder that everyone here a person with a life. Someone who can eat, laugh and have fun just like anyone else. We're all a little like potatoes. There are a lot of ways to cook them. You're not just Finn the Hero." Said Marshall with a smile. "You're also Finn the Human, Finn the Brother and sometimes Finn the Lover. I want you to see me as Marshall, not Nightclad because I see you not as Finn the hero or Finn the Student, but as Finn the Friend. And I wanna eat food with my friends and family today."
Finn paused as Marshall pulled out some fries they had made earlier, gesturing for Finn to take one. Finn smiled and took one. Somehow, the knowledge that they were the ones to make it made the fry taste a lot better than it should.
"So what do you say? Friends or mentor and student?" Asked Marshall with a hopeful smile.
Finn paused. "... can't it be both?" He spoke with fries in his mouth.
"*Sigh* at least you've learned something." Deadpanned Marshall causing Jake to laugh behind him. "Which reminds me, There's an alternate universe Lich running around. He should be in the form of a large sentient yellow hand so be careful if you see one."
Everyone went dead silent after Marshall dropped that piece of information so nonchalantly causing the ex hero to clear his throat.
"But today we eat!" Said Marshall cheerfully. "To Marcy's!"
Quickly, they were all teleported to Marceline's with food to share.
"Woah, what's the occasion?" Asked Marceline curiously upon seeing everyone at her house with food and noticing the bright red potatoes that were obviously for her.
And Marshall had one thing to say to that.
"Accepting that I'm forever gonna be a boy scout."
"...are you still hung up about me teasing you with that?" Marceline deadpanned.
"And I will forever be so."
