"Soooo, what's my job as wizard king exactly?" Asked Marshall raising a brow as he sat on a giant floating throne.
Grandmaster wizard, who was bowing in front of Marshall, turned to his king and spoke. "Other than the yearly duel. Whatever you want it to be."
"I don't think that counts as a job." Replied Marshall awkwardly.
"We don't care, you're the Wizard King. The pinnacle of all wizards." Replied Grandmaster wizard in a dead serious tone. "Any and all wizards will do and accept everything and anything you say or ask of them."
Marshall sweat dropped as he stared at Grandmaster Wizard. He was serious. There was not a hint of hesitation or wavering in his tone or expression.
"So, if I, like, asked you to jump into...uhh... a pool of sprinkles-" asked Marshall before Grandmaster Wizard cut him off.
"THE WIZARD KING REQUESTS SPRINKLES! A WHOLE POOL OF THEM!" Yelled Grandmaster Wizard prompting a few wizards inside the room to try and leave to get the pool.
"No, NO! All of you, stop!" Yelled Marshall in a panic causing the wizards and GM wizard to go as stiff as a brick. "It was a hypothetical question."
No one replied, they all just stared at Marshall frozen in place causing the half demon much confusion. It wasn't until one of the wizards' faces turned purplish that Marshall realized what happened.
"You can breathe and move!" He yelled angrily at the wizards causing them all to start breathing again. "Just don't leave the room."
Marshall glared at the wizards in silence for a minute before sighing.
"I already have enough things trying to give me a god complex." He muttered pinching the bridge of his nose. "GM Wiz, let's say I hypothetically lose to someone in a duel. Would you treat that person like this? Also, you can speak in case that wasn't obvious."
"They'd only get as much authority and respect as the level of their magic." Replied GM Wiz with a shrug.
"If they suck, we'll just kick them out and beg you to come back." Added a wizard happily.
"Wizards rule and therefore the wizard king must rule EVEN HARDER!" Added another wizard excitedly.
Marshall stared at GM Wizard in disbelief. "So the whole duel for the throne thing is just a scam to get me specifically to show off my magic?"
GM wizard paused. "Pretty much." He said with a shrug.
Marshall took a deep breath. "I'm going home." He deadpanned with extreme disappointment. "Only call me if it's important."
The wizards could only watch in silence as Marshall opened a portal out of wizard city and back to his home and left through it.

At Marshall's.
Marshall, who was wearing a grey button up shirt with black jeans and Billy's nose gem earring, hummed as he flipped pancakes in a pan while cooking them. He knew he could just create them with magic, but he enjoyed flipping pancakes.
"OC! Come get your pancakes!" Exclaimed Marshall with a smile.
"Can't! I'm watching my favorite couple right now!" Replied OC from the living room.
Marshall went silent as turned off the stove and put the last pancake on one of two plates holding small pancake towers. Marshall put a knife and a fork on each plate before taking them to the living room.
The wizard king placed a plate on the table in front of OC and sat next to the omniscient orb with a plate of pancakes in hand before snapping his fingers to create a bottle of maple syrup from nothing.
"Y'know? I had a dream about my first day as Wizard King." Said Marshall with a smile as he poured the syrup onto his pancakes and onto OC's.
"Tell me about it." Replied OC as she split her focus between the romance she was watching and Marshall.
"They really were ready to do ANYTHING I said." Continued Marshall calmly.
"You could've changed sprinkles to lava and he still would've agreed." Replied OC calmly as she watched her favorite couple.
"Crazy, right?" Asked Marshall calmly as he cut a bit out of his plate of pancakes. "Wizards are weird."
OC hummed in agreement as Marshall enjoyed his pancakes before the wizard decided to start working on his comic book series.
The two enjoyed their hobbies in silence until they heard a phone ringing that interrupted them. Marshall, without a word, snapped his fingers causing a floating hologram of the caller to appear in front of him. It was GM Wizard.
"Your magicness!" Exclaimed Grandmaster Wizard cheerfully. "How's your day?"
Marshall took a deep breath. "Don't call me that." He deadpanned. "Why are you calling anyways?"
"Oh, well. Today's the end of the current semester at wizard school and I thought it'd be nice to reward the kids and stuff." Replied GM wizard cheerfully.
"You just wanna see my magic, don't you?" Asked Marshall glaring at GM wizard.
"Me? No!" Exclaimed GM wizard shaking his head. "I mean, I wouldn't mind."
Marshall went silent. As he was about to end the call abruptly, GM wizard started to panic.
"Wait wait wait!" Exclaimed GM wizard in a panic. "Please reconsider! I won't ever ask anything of you ever again!"
Marshall sighed at GM wizard's begging. "Ever again?"
"You can block my number if I do it."
And so, Marshall's plans for the day were derailed in an unexpected direction.

In Wizard city, Grandmaster Wizard's home.
"Alright, so I just have to do some spells and you'll leave me alone?" Asked Marshall raising a brow. "Like, maybe 3?"
Grandmaster Wizard nodded cheerfully before Marshall sighed.
"What spell should I start with?" Muttered Marshall as he thought about his next move. "How about cat magic? You like cats, right?"
GM wizard nodded with a happy expression prompting Marshall to give the walls living cat faces with only a thought. The cat faces purred and meowed causing GM wizard to giggle as he played with the cat walls.
"That's one. Two, a blast." Said Marshall pointing his finger at a wall before blasting the wall with a ball of energy that destroyed the wall completely. "Three, fixing the wall."
Marshall snapped his fingers and the wall returned to how it was before he destroyed it.
"And that's it. Bye." Said Marshall with a shrug as he opened a portal home.
"Wait-" said GM wizard, stopping Marshall in his tracks as an old purple skinned lady in a suit entered the room and tapped his robes. Was she his secretary or something? Marshall stared at the lady as she told GM wizard about Princess Bubblegum in wizard city. The lady looked very familiar to the wizard king, but before Marshall could put his finger on who she was, GM wizard spoke dejectedly as she ran far far away. "You can go."
Marshall suddenly remembered something. The plot of an episode. PB, Finn and Jake enter wizard city to get Starchy some magical solution to his sickness and they get into trouble.
"Nah, I'll stay a bit longer." Said Marshall calmly causing Grandmaster Wizard to become nervous, not wanting to disappoint his king.
Soon enough, Finn, Jake, PB and Abracadaniel entered GM wizard's palace as Marshall hid himself in the background.
"Princess Bubblegum! For shame. And I'm very disappointed in you, Abracadaniel!" Said GM wizard sternly as Abracadaniel started crying. "However, Princess, since you have always been a dear friend to the wizard community, just say 'Wizards Rule' and you're all free to go."
"Wha- really?" Asked Abracadaniel stopping his crying.
But much to Abracadaniel's dismay, PB refused. Finn immediately held back PB from attacking GM wizard as she snapped at him.
"All magic is science! You just don't know what you're doing, so you call it magic! And, well,...it's...ridiculous."
Marshall snorted unintentionally. Knowing the truth about magic made PB's claim look very silly to him. The sound of his snort was enough to alert Finn, Jake, PB and Abracadaniel to his presence.
"Marshall?" Asked Finn in confusion at the Abadeer's presence.
"No. The wizard king. We're doomed!" Abracadaniel quickly fell into panic and curled into a ball.
"Hey, guys." Said Marshall calmly as PB glared at him.
"What are you doing here, man?" Asked Jake in confusion.
"Stuff. Plus, I rule this place." Said Marshall cheerfully. "And as ruler of wizard city, I say you're free to go."
"Really?" Asked Abracadaniel cheerfully prompting Marshall to nod.
"But before you go, what were you doing with that frost spell?" Asked Marshall faking curiousity as he pointed at Jake.
"It's a cold potion." Jake corrected with a smile. "For Starchy. He has a cold."
"Wouldn't a spell that produces cold air and snow just make it worse?" Asked Marshall raising a brow, prompting Jake to open the spell bottle only for it to spew out cold air.
"Oh, come on!" Yelled Jake angrily.
Marshall smiled. "I could probably kill all the cold in his body, but you can also get Abracadaniel to fake it then give Starchy a cure. He won't notice."
"Hey, that's a great idea." Said Finn cheerfully. "C'mon, PB. Let's g-'
"What's so funny?" Asked PB glaring at Marshall making him confused. "You laughed at what I said earlier. Why?"
"Because it's wrong." Replied Marshall nervously at Bonnie's aggressive glare.
"Oh, and you know more about magic than these guys?" Asked PB gesturing towards Abracadaniel and GM wizard expecting Marshall to not know the answer.
"Yeah, actually." Replied Marshall innocently. "I'm not the wizard king for show...well, I am. But I'm still very good at magic."
"Then tell me what IS it?" Asked PB angrily as Finn and Jake winced at her attitude.
"It's hard to explain when there are things that you have to know first, but the simplest, most bare bones answer would be...nonsense."
The wizards in the room were confused by the statement, but didn't dwell much on it as they didn't understand what he meant. Princess Bubblegum, however, was angry.
"What do you mean nonsense?" Asked PB angrily. "That doesn't make any sense!"
"Exactly." Replied Marshall calmly making PB speechless. "It's not meant to make sense, it's meant to make nonsense. And science is, at it's core, is sense making sense from that nonsense. Meaning nonsense created sense and nonsense is meaningless without sense. But how was sense born when sense itself is needed to make sense? That is also nonsense. Magic and science are opposites linked in an infinite and paradoxical loop of sense and nonsense that drive the multiverse forwards. Without sense we wouldn't exist and without nonsense we wouldn't have sense. In the end, it's all just nonsense. Does that make any sense?"
Everyone stared at Marshall silently in confusion including the wizards in the room. Even PB, who asked the question in the first place, could only gape in confusion at what Marshall just said.
"Y-... you're just saying a bunch of nonsense!" Exclaimed PB angrily in frustration.
"Correct." Replied Marshall with a proud smile.
PB tried to say something, but the words betrayed her. And so, she did the only sane thing she could do in this situation. She gave up and stomped her way out of the room in frustration.
After PB was far away enough, Finn turned to Marshall and asked. "Was that your plan? To make her frustrated enough to leave?"
"What? No!" Said Marshall in with a frown. "Magic is like a wise madman with a long white beard. Even when you get all the answers, he'll always give you more questions. Bonnie wants a clear answer, but magic won't ever let that happen."
"Huh? Magic is weird." Replied Jake calmly.
"You get it." Replied Marshall with a smile. "Now go after her before she kills someone. You too, Abracadaniel."
Abracadaniel nodded vigorously before he, Finn and Jake and followed after PB into Wizard City. Seeing this, Marshall opened a portal back to his home before freezing in place. He remembered something.
"Hey, GM Wiz," Asked Marshall calmly turning to the giant bearded wizard. "Who was that old lady that was talking with you before?"
"Oh, her? She's working as my assistant." Said GM wizard calmly. "I've never seen her before, but she can do a mean pile of paperwork."
"Hmm, keep an eye on her for me. She feels familiar and I don't trust anyone like that." Said Marshall calmly.
GM wizard immediately nodded as Marshall left the building through his portal. But the giant bearded wizard never noticed a pair of glowing purple eyes glaring at him from far far away.
