PART 1: The City Of Gold

CHAPTER 9: Entering The Enemies Base

The werewolf, whose name was Geri proved to be incredibly deceitful. While he was leading Percy and Artemis to their final destination, he succeeded in provoking a grizzly into fighting the goddess, who was thrown to the ground unprepared. Artemis had risen quickly and was visibly unhappy when she saw it was a bear. Thankfully she was capable of calming it down, and they continued on their journey without much of a pause.

When Geri announced that they were less than 20 minutes from their destination, Percy internally let out a whoop of joy, the journey had been harrowing and he felt more comfortable in a city than in forests and in nature.

The son of Poseidon grinned widely when they walked into a clearing, and a large cloud of mist blocked a shimmering wall. The trio made their way towards the entrance and Geri talked to the guards quickly "These are people whom I found on my journey, they are interested in joining Erubus's forces."

The lie probably wasn't very convincing, but nevertheless, the tired guards let them pass without an issue. Geri led them through the streets of the city as countless people wandered around, going to perform their daily tasks. The entire place was filled with preparations for war. Smoke climbing from forges, weapons clanging, and food being packaged for the journey. Without a doubt, Percy knew this was the most prepared enemy they had ever faced.

As they approached the palace, the air seemed to be permeated with darkness, a feeling of dread. Geri showed his crow charm to the guards and they parted before following Percy and Artemis into a hallway. As the turned, and began approaching the throne room, the son of Poseidon pulled out riptide from his pocket and uncapped it, straight into the stomach of one of the guards, before the other guard could react, Artemis drew a knife from her belt and stabbed him. They both collapsed to the ground simultaneously.

The pair grinned at each other before Artemis turned on Geri and threw her knife at him. The werewolf stared at her in shock, his eyes wide, before he fell to the ground, however not before letting out a howl, indicating the attack to all guards in the vicinity. Artemis quickly grabbed Geri's crow charm and Percy's hand. They sprinted through the halls, completely aware of the trouble they would soon be fighting their way through.

Guards began appearing from all sides as the goddess pulled out her bow and fired at them while running. The son of Poseidon attacked his enemies mercilessly as countless guards went crashing into walls. At the end of the corridor they were running through, appeared a man in pitch black armor, a trident held in his right hand and a helmet covering his head, horns protruding from the top.

"You are surrounded boy. There is nowhere to run, so lay down your weapons and your life will be spared." The man said, his voice deep. Artemis scowled and grabbed the son of Poseidon, before leaping into the nearest window, the glass shattered as they collided into it, before they fall down into the city.

Annabeth glanced around the ping-pong table, her eyes examining all of the cabin counselors. Jason Grace stood in the corner of the room, staring at the ceiling. Piper was by his side, their hands interlocked. Katie Gardner was keeping the Stoll brother's away from the snack supply, through the use of force. There were various children from the minor god's cabins who sat near the other end of the table, playing a game of poker with Dionysus. Clarisse seemed ready for the discussion to begin, and she glared contemptuously at the table. Once everyone had arrived Annabeth cleared her throat and began to speak "Thank you everyone for coming, I am unsure if you are all aware, but we have been called to war once again, that attack a few days ago was just the beginning. In 2 days we are going to be leaving here and heading into New York to defend Olympus. The gods will be fighting our enemy, so it is our duty to defend their thrones. I am going to need the Hermes cabin to collaborate with the Hephaestus cabin in order to line the area around Olympus with traps to stop any forces that make their way toward it. Obviously made out of celestial bronze. The Ares cabin will need to be guarding 34th Street, We'll have the Demeter cabin joining them. The Apollo cabin will be behind them, so you can fire safely. Can we get the Aphrodite cabin to block 5th Avenue with the help of the Hecate cabin?" The daughter of Athena continued assigning roles and tasks to the different cabins, all to make sure Olympus would be completely defended.

At last when she finally dismissed everyone she tapped Jason on the shoulder. He stopped and looked at her "Yes?"

Annabeth glanced around the room, ensuring no one else was there, before speaking "I'm going to need you to keep an eye on the Hecate cabin, I sense an issue brewing there."

The son of Jupiter nodded "A spy?"

Annabeth shook her head "I am not entirely sure, there was a girl there who threatened me. For good measure can you tail most of the counselors of the minor god cabins? They are the ones who have been picking the most fights here."

Jason nodded "So you want me to be doing that throughout the battle?"

Annabeth smiled "That and dealing with as many monsters as you can, without Percy here, you and Nico are going to have to do a lot more."

Jason frowned "Oh well, I guess it could be worse."
