PART 1: The City Of Gold

CHAPTER 10: Too Deep Too Leave

Percy crashed into a rose bush, thorns grating his armor. The goddess of the hunt fell to the ground beside him. They both quickly got to their feet and sprinted away from the window. The man armored man climbed out, and followed them, his trident glistening in the sun.

"Stop running boy, let me take you to Erebus." He said, lifting his hand to his helmet. He paused for a moment before removing it, revealing the face of a man slightly older than Percy. He had pitch-black hair and glowing red eyes.

Percy stopped for a moment "Who are you? Whose your godly parent?" he asked.

"My name is Melchon, and my father is Tartarus." the man revealed.

Percy gulped and turned to Artemis who nodded slightly "My apologies, the guard who I cut down, as well as the werewolf antagonized me, in fact, that guard had attacked me first. I naturally assumed my only option was to run because I was worried I would be killed."

The man stared at him skeptically, before nodding "What is your name? And who is your godly parent."

Percy glanced at Artemis who made slight waves in the air with her hands. "My name is Luke, and I am a son of Poseidon."

Melchon nodded and then looked at Artemis "And you fair lady?"

Artemis replied slowly "Zoe, daughter of Apollo."

Melchon glanced at her bow before nodding "Very well, I will take you to Erebus, he will decide what to do with you."

The son of Tartarus led them toward the nearest entrance to the castle and took them to the throne room. Percy looked around in awe, while Olympus was nicer, the room they were in was cool in a dark way. Weapons lined the walls, and tapestries depicted various exploits of the Protogenoi.

There was at the back of the room, a dark-haired man sat on it, beside it there was a chair where an elderly man with white hair was seated.

The aura radiating from the dark-haired man was powerful and Percy knelt before the throne, Artemis quickly followed suit. Melchon bowed his head down before speaking "These are two new recruits, they also killed two guards as well as a werewolf. A son of Poseidon and a daughter of Apollo."

A savage smirk spread across Erebus's face, as he rose from his throne. He walked towards the two kneeling immortals, stopping directly in front of them. "You seek to join my forces?"

Percy spared a glance up at the primordial deity, "Y-yes."

"What value do you provide to me?" Erebus asked, circling the two immortals.

Artemis looked at Erebus, "We are both powerful demigods, the gods punished us for actions that we took, and we come here seeking revenge."

Erebus smiled "That's lovely, but that is not what I asked, I said what value do you provide me with, that I will allow you to join my army, instead of finding other demigods."

Percy paused before responding "We are both immortals."

Erebus raised his eyebrows "The Olympians made you immortals and you deserted them after that?"

Percy dropped his head down, "Yes, yes we did."

Annabeth stared in shock as a horde of monsters appeared over the Brooklyn Bridge, with mortals awake, the Godly world was at risk of exposure, and yet Annabeth had no way to deal with that, not while she had to fight for her life.

All the demigods that Camp Half-Blood had were stationed around Olympus, Camp Jupiter's cohorts too had arrived, mere hours before. Joint they had 143 demigods, meaning they were still severely outnumbered by the monsters, the fact made worse as Percy was absent, as too was Artemis. Nevertheless, a smile made its way onto Annabeth's face as Thalia appeared beside her, "I hope I'm not too late, we'll be joining you."

"Thank you for coming, can we keep your archers back near the tower, so we can stop as many of them without putting ourselves in the forefront of the battle? This is like the battle with Kronos all over again."

Thalia nodded before turning around to the hunt, beckoning a few of them to come forward. "Join me, my sisters, your skills are too great to leave you with the archers."

Within a minute, 20 demigods began marching towards the bridge, to take on the onslaught of monsters.

At the forefront of the monster army was a large group of hellhounds followed by countless cyclopses and Lastrygonian giants. At the rear of the attack were two tall, armor-clad Titans. The first one held a double-edged sword, his aura was powerful, it was one that filled his enemies with fear. The second one held a long spear in one hand, and a shield in his other.

The group of demigods cut their way through the hellhounds, with only a single scratch being landed on one of the huntresses. The cyclopses thundered their way across the bridge, picking up mortals off the road and hurling them at the demigods, the terrain becoming even more challenging to navigate. Thankfully arrows rained down periodically on the monsters, cutting their numbers down slowly.

Annabeth jammed her dagger into the leg of a cyclops, before sliding under a hellhound, cutting its stomach open. Two demigods walked towards her, Annabeth smiled up at them before getting punched in the head. The daughter of Athena collapsed backward, clutching her nose. One of the demigods drew and sword, but before he could strike, was struck by a bolt of lightning and was thrown several meters back. The other demigod turned his attention towards Thalia, who was a few meters from him, with her spear drawn, and a murderous glare on her face.

Annabeth crawled to her feet, as Thalia traded blows with the demigod. As she stood up, one of the titan's advanced towards her. His head didn't have a helmet, but it was definitely out of reach unless Annabeth decided to throw her knife. He smiled viciously at her "Hello daughter of Athena,"

Annabeth snarled "Who are you."

The Titan grinned at her. "Pallas"

Acrisias trudged through a marsh, his destination on the other side of a nearby hill. He had attempted to Shadow travel to his destination but there were powerful wards guarding it. He hummed a tune, as he twirled his sword around in his hand. Any animals nearby, darted away as he approached.

As he made his way to the top of the hill, he gasped when he saw what lay on the other side. Countless springs and ponds, surrounded by lush green scenery, a stark contrast to what lay on the side he had just traversed.

He made his way around the springs before stopping in front of the small lake in the middle of the land. Acrisias took a deep breath before slamming his sword on the grass three times before throwing the blade into the lake.

He waited for a minute, as nothing happened and his sword continued to sink into the water. Acrisias snarled in frustration but remained standing there. After three more minutes of waiting, the water finally rippled, and a dark form appeared to be making its way to the surface. Within a few seconds, a man burst through the water and landed in front of Acrisias.

"Son of Erebus, why have you disturbed my peace?"

Acrisias looked him directly in the eye "Lord Pontus, there is an upstart son of Poseidon, my father does not wish to kill him, merely to detain him. He sent me here to ask what you think we ought to do."

Pontus summoned a trident from out of the water and slammed it hard on the grass. "Erebus wants me to capture this son of Poseidon?"

Acrisias nodded slightly, concentrating to summon his sword back to him.

"Tell your father that if I go through with this, even if he fails to usurp Olympus, he will aid me in destroying Poseidon. For years my attempts have been thwarted by Hydros who has been adamant to leave Poseidon in power, and even when Thalassa finally helped me, Hydros received aid from Nesoi, who brought great ruin upon my forces." Pontus hissed.

Acrisias nodded again "Could you come with me back to my father's city? He can talk to you directly there."

Pontus seemed to be conflicted for a moment before he nodded "Yes."
