Monday, 2 April 2018, Luna Nova
After a few days at the Du Nord's house, the three girls returned to Luna Nova, where in a few days the classes would return, this time it would be a new course that they could take in the mean time since the classes had a restart and in the mean time it was very obvious a clear change that was the complete abandon of all the technology that Croix had brought to the witch academy under the reason that they didn't want to have any connection with the witch and also as a lesson for all of them to have a notion that technology shouldn't be mixed with magic, in a very dirty excuse given by the direction and the teachers, what ended up making everything go back again to the old system, being applied even in the workers, what was generating a good general dissatisfaction by all the students, since the technology had made things much easier in a way that even the studies were less complicated.
POV Akko:
Waking up to have a school day again, I get up, brush my teeth, looking in the mirror at my face all tired, then I do my basic hygiene, leaving the bathroom and seeing that Lotte was waiting, as I leave I go to get my clothes and start ironing my uniform.
"Hey Sucy it sucks not having mobile phones right now, I could talk to the girls just fine" I tell her.
"Tell me about it, I still don't know why they took us out, they could renew these classes with another teacher, it even seems that it was just a way to show us that it's wrong" she said and I had been thinking the same thing.
"I'm sure, just because Croix was malicious doesn't mean that teachers who teach tech magic are the same, imagine how cool it would be with a teacher who didn't end up like Croix, it was the only class I could get anything done, now I'm honestly scared of where it's going"
"Me too, I'm already predicting that we're going back to the days when you used to blow up the classroom" said Sucy teasingly, and I got my cheeks all inflated.
Lotte then comes out of the bathroom and who enters is precisely Sucy, which I go to finish ironing my clothes before Professor Finnelan comes to complain about my crumpled shirt and doesn't let me into her classroom for such nonsense.
In the first class...
Could the day have started worse? At the very first class it's going to be with teacher Finnelan, right away of magical etiquette, she complains about every piece that stays on my clothes as if it was the most vulgar thing in the world, by the nine lesbian witches, I swear I feel like sending the middle finger to this old woman, but if I do that I'll go to detention right away, I see Diana too, I wave to her, remembering how nice the days at the Du Nord family house were, I just want to see now if I can get along.

I see the girls' wand lighting up, mine does too, they keep getting it and I concentrate, I think I can do it, I concentrate, I remember all the tips Diana gave me, which suddenly I see the cup floating, just as I get it with the other goals and in this way I get the tea ready.

I even look at Diana and she smiles at me, giving a nod which is a sign that I'm doing well, after so much practice and going through the worst I think I might finally be able to do at least one class right. I'm going to make the best tea this witch has ever seen, she's going to have to give me an A after this, by the nine witches, I can't believe I'm managing to do the spell right, without failing or anything, I even get a big smile on my face relieved that it's working out, I'm working with the greatest delicacy in the world and I see that the wand responds to all my commands, that means I'm finally free of the magic that was stolen from me, what a fuck.
"Very well time is up, let's see how your tea is, first I want to see Miss Kagari's, as she is so confident of herself then she will have to bring the tea to my table, only with etiquette and using magic to lift the cup" Said the teacher barely giving time as she always did, but I managed to do something.
I am taking the saucer with the cup levitating with the greatest care, even getting nervous, the whole room is looking at me, they must be expecting the slightest failure to my side, but I will not fail, I managed to put the cup down masterfully and soon the teacher holds it with her hand instead of holding it, without using the magic, now she makes sure we use it all the time, isn't she, what a hypocrite woman, I notice by her expression that Mrs. Finnelan seems to have liked it, so much that she keeps drinking the tea at a point that she must have taken it all.

"Behaviour yourself Miss Kagari, if you remain in this classless manner, I will ask you to write a thousand times, hold that low person manner, this is only one of many to come" She said and I stopped to avoid getting in trouble, but finally I managed and this time much better
And so Akko spent the rest of teacher Finnelan's class surprised by her impressive growth, what before was a denial, came this time showing a new and different potential, with all the form, until lunch time arrives and then starts the afternoon classes, which would be the broomstick flying class, where she would have one more ordeal...
I'm ready for anything, I took the broom excitedly, we went to the Luna Nova courtyard, I'm anxious to show everyone that I can fly normally, we were all lined up and then the teacher Nelson arrived, being charismatic as always, she is one of the teachers who was the nicest with me, she never disapproved me for my lack of flying ability, in fact she even let me use a special broom.
"And now here we are, going back to the last term before summer comes and we're going to start in style, going back to flying, but first I want to know how you're doing, so you'll go through a small obstacle course! Whoever succeeds we will advance to a more advanced part of broomstick control, these last days I want to see everyone flying with precision, a witch who will be able to fly even in the worst conditions" she said and with that each one went in rows to the stage where the track begins.
I was walking there too, but the teacher took my shoulder, she even gave me a smile, about to go and give me a special broom that flies by itself, but I denied it with my head.
"I can fly on my own Professor Nelson - I tell her.
"Oh yeah so try it, I want to see if you really can Miss Kagari - She said and I take a deep breath, get into position on the broom.
"Tia Freyre! - I say the words, I feel the broom lift me off the ground, I've made it for the first time, I haven't flown on a broom since the missile incident, I've really awakened my flying ability, I don't believe it, it's really true.
"Hmmmm, look how amazing, you finally awakened your Kagari magic, so you can go in line, any difficulty with control just call me, I'll be watching you all - She said patting me on the back and I never felt as excited as I did now.
I'm going to get in line behind Diana, it has to be right in front of the best one... There was no one worse to be the one to stay at this time, but anyway, at least I want to see if I'm going to do well in this, the line is going and the track is very simple, it's the kind of thing that I was already used to do when I used to use the broom that was of help, the girls are going fast, Next goes Diana, she as always shoots ahead, it surprises me how well she controls the broom, it's not for nothing that she is the best, but to think that some day she already had difficulties flying with a broom is too ironic, it's comical, now my turn will come.

It's not that hard, it's very manageable, even too much, I can't believe that flying on a real broomstick is so ridiculously easy? By the nine witches, I'm managing to balance myself here with great ease, how nice, the whole balance is helping me to hold on, the obstacles don't seem like nothing, so much that I get to the other side and even get weird.
"Did I pass?" I say confused.
"Akko ye flew very well and on yer own, that's very good" Diana said.
"I passed! I know how to fly a broom!" I say celebrating and jumping for joy and I even see teacher Nelson clapping and even giving me a thumbs up sign.
I looked at the others and they did really well too, I was in disbelief, looking at my hands, seeing that I'm just doing well in magic class, I'm no longer a disaster, I'm just getting things done, they're coming out exactly as my head wants them to come out, for the nine witches this is just too cool.
Soon the others finish, we line up again, I just want to see what Miss Nelson is going to do now, she leaves the broom floating and jumps on it standing up, I thought that was forbidden to do, it's just like Chariot.
"In this lesson you're going to learn how to fly by standing up, just like Chariot Du Nord used to do in his presentations, we will too, this is also a balance training for you to be able to cast spells at targets, since you'll have an extra position to train your precision, since you might not fall sitting on a broomstick, so let's go, it's very simple, I've been thinking about it for a while now"
I look at my broom on the floor, then I speak the words and the broom goes floating in front of me, exactly as she said, with that I jump and I go feeling a little lack of balance, I go seeing the girls flying as I go trying to balance and I see simply Amanda literally using the broom as a skateboard, I wish I was good like that, I go looking on the floor and focus.

Now I manage to keep my posture, bend my knees and start flying, it's really cool to do it this way, I manage to control the broom like a skateboard, which I manage to gain speed, brake, keep the position, doing everything in an easier way than I thought it would be, I never even skateboarded in my life and I'm managing to do things with precision and also with finesse, by the nine witches, that's very good.
"Look at Akko, managing to fly, but she's still no match for me," said Amanda, who stood on her tiptoes, leaning on the broomstick with her lap of her foot and with her arms crossed.
"Amanda your panties are going to be showing and you want to go for a run?" I say half looking up and seeing that she was wearing shorts underneath, then everything really improves, it's harder to see this way, I never thought of wearing shorts underneath, so much that she jumps again.
"You looked, didn't you? Anyway let's go then" she said and we both sort of lined up.
We start to fly, she's going at a fast pace, but I'm able to keep up with her, so confidently I decide to pass Amanda and we both reach a tree where I stop in the air and return to where the girls are.
"Not bad Akko, but you got lucky, it was merely luck, I wasn't warm enough" She said already putting in some excuses, but she lost and it was ugly hahaha.
"You say that because you lost, you don't vouch for O'Neill anymore" I say in a teasing tone and she just stands with her arms crossed trying to ignore it.
"It's not filling" said the frustrated little girl.
"Very well, you are all flying as expected, now we will do a test, this time you will have targets, you will shoot spells towards them while flying with the broomstick upright, it will be a test of accuracy aimed at the worst position to aim at" said teacher Nelson.
The targets were appearing, we were lined up, this time floating upright on the broomstick, it's a very strange sensation, the feet going from one side to the other while floating in the air, as if gravity didn't exist underneath, it even seems like a jet pack, it's a skateboard where the wheels are invisible, so it was soon going one by one of the girls.
"Now let's see if you can do as well as me" said Amanda, who was looking very showy and I just shrugged.

Amanda was full of confidence, she was practically dancing on the broomstick, doing flips and everything else, taking the time to pass and shoot each target with precision, I was looking more in the position of each one, then came Diana, she simply shot several spells in a single shot and managed to pass straight with the greatest class, without even changing the broomstick, with her feet staying almost static, unlike many that the foot moved all the time trying to find balance.
Until arriving my turn, I go managing to pass and I am looking at the targets, managing to hit them with nicely, showing that I know something, it is very good to see that I am managing to do well, I took a little longer than the others, but I could have a notion that the spells shot in the broom kind of kick, what can make me fall a little, until I finish the course landing with security, seeing palm of the teacher.
"Well done Akko, you are doing excellently, that is how I want to see your improvement, you managed to show that you have balance and precision, it was only your magic awakened that you managed to fly excellently" Said the teacher.
"I thought it was pretty good too, but ye still have tae improve the balance when the broom ends up kicking from the firing of the spells" Diana said.
"I noticed that, I'll try to practice more" I say already excited.
"I certainly know it will" Cavendish smiles at me.
This class has been the coolest so far, even as cool as the ones with Ms. Croix, it's a shame they are gone, they were the best ones here in Luna Nova, there was no need to take away our mobile phones, that's what I used to talk to the girls, that's also what I called them to go out, anyway, I'm trying as I can, but it's hard, holding the broom is complicated, it's strange.
The broomstick flying lessons, ended up going by much quicker than Akko thought they were lasting which was quite clear to her how things were flowing better, it being a miracle how Akko managed to improve, as the lessons came to an end, the girls were gathering on the grass and the Japanese girl was getting all excited and confident...
"You see? I finally can do magic and spells with ease, without any more problems... I'm not falling behind anymore, I'll finally get the basics out of it" I say all happy and the girls just roll their eyes.
"Akko you have been saying that since this morning, it is the seventh time that I have heard you say that, we have already noticed that you have improved" said Sucy.
"Ah but this is rare, it's not every day you see me able to do spells, you see how I can be like you? I'm happy to know that I'm no longer a mere mundane who is not made for magic, I'm happy because I'm a witch, because I have magic, I can do the basics of magic, which not even this I could do, from now on it will only get better, I'm sure" I say all delighted.
POV Diana:
I could listen tae it a thousand times, it's simply wonderful tae see how she has been getting excited and getting all happy fae being able tae do spells, Akko like this gives me a warmth in my heart, sae much sae that I am looking at her all in love and I notice how I can't hide it, but it's because... She's simply enchanting, she can do that tae me, my emotions go tae a thousand looking at Kagari's happiness.
"It seems Cavendish is the only one who's not bothered by it hahaha" O'Neill said and I try to keep my composure, not showing it, I even adjust my hair so it doesn't end up flopping.
- Look, I dinnae see anything wrong, it's just Akko getting excited, I've been there at least, I just have empathy, when I was a kid I was the same way, I remember how my cousin Andrew got sick of listening tae me screaming to the whole world that I was a witch, all this for later my cousins tae show themselves as horrible people as ever" I say trying tae hide, but obviously they were buying more and more the idea that I have a crush on Akko, by the nine lesbian witches, where did they get that from.
"I know, anyway, she talked too much don't you think" Sucy said and I just shrug.
"I dinnae think sae, she's just excited" I say until I'm pushed towards Akko.
"Ah so listen to the many times Akko has repeated that" Manbavaran said.
With that I even blush, seeing her pairs of reddish eyes, Akko's unique beauty and her beautiful face, ahhhh, I'm going to have a gay panic here, by the nine lesbian witches, why did they do this, I try to hide my face, but it looks worse, until Akko turns her face to me with a little smile and I try to keep my form.
"Ah akko, a clocked that ye hae improved a lot, a'm glad" Shit why these times this happens, I shuffled on the words.
"Ohhh Diana, I only made it thanks to your great help, you've always been motivating me and everything else, by the way I know April is your birthday month, is there anything ready for you?" She said, and I was kind of shuffling my curls and I could relieve myself when she changed the subject a little.
"Oh yeah sure, I dinnae have anything, I dinnae usually commemorate this date, I think it's useless tae commemorate even more because I've never been presented, I've never been treated with respect, nae with love, the only I've been through nice things that I remember was my 5 years old birthday when I won the ticket fae the Chariot's concert and stood next tae my mother Bernadette" I tell her that she goes smiling.
"For yours of 16 is going to be really special, you deserve it Diana" she said stroking my head and I'm honestly going tae have a gay panic here, by the nine lesbian witches, why is this girl sae affectionate? She's too good fae me.
Then I go watching her balancing herself standing on the broomstick still trying tae do a trick she saw Amanda trying tae do, it's very cute to see how she always tries, many times she falls down, but in the most she always ends up coming back and coming back better, it's amazing Akko's motivation, I feel happy that she improved a lot.
Later in the blue team's room...
This way I think I'm going tae lose track of time, after admiring Akko's beauty sae much, I dinnae even know how tae act, how tae do, why was I the most inexperienced and stupid person in relation tae love? How could fate have given me this, well I lay down on the bed and put my face on the pillow, where I gave a little cry, kind of still enchanted with Akko's beauty and the moment she passed her hand on my face, it was all very magical for me, too perfect, ahhhhh, how I love this lassie.
"Akko again?" Hannah said.
"Ahhh ye know, I can't not think, it's something out of my control, how can this girl is everything I dinnae expect and yet she warms my heart" I tell her who sits down next to me on the bed.

What are you going to do Diana? You have a whole new future ahead of you, you know that two witches can make one, so why don't you take advantage of it, ask her out, find out more things, interact with her, try to provoke her to kiss you, make it happen, I'm sure that cultivating it will work out," she said, and even so, I know, it's a challenge aside, it's nae like it's the easiest thing in the world, it's complicated.
"I wish it was easy just by talking, I even think about doing it, but I can't get up the courage, it's stronger than me" I say tae her half standing up and Hannah goes kind of passing her hand on my face while I try tae smile.
"So you're going to need a little push, how do you think your mothers met? They sort of talked and dated, like any couple does, there was an attitude there, I don't know how it was, but I'm sure that's how it was, anyway... Your front teeth..."said England who noticed.
"I stopped using some dental implants tae pretend I had nothing, they were always like that... But that's because I want tae get rid of them, before it was an imposition, now I want to show the world that I am like this, I think it must be a genetic thing" I tell her.
"Look I don't know about you, but it's made you much more attractive, it gives you a unique beauty, but anyway, like I told you, try to be brave, call her for a date, just the two of you, go to the cinema, go out to eat, show her a bit of Edinburgh too, walk around together, call her here to play some PS3" Hannah said and I smiled, I really wanted to be brave.

Which brings me back tae the other candidates, I've kind of made a list, I'll try tae contact them one by one over the summer and see how far I can get"

I take the list and go on to show her the different names Alissa Holyrod, Daniela Gomez, Janice Harlow, Laura McLaren, Kimberly Hunter, Lianna Lacroix, Eliana Canavarro, Heather Hill, Brenda Campos, Sasha Ivanov, Naomi Volkov, Lena Nowak, Scarlet Taylor Giulia Bianchini and those were the names of all the red-headed students that I am hugely suspicious of being the possible mothers, which I went on tae get full of the suspicions anyway.
"Wow, they are many and of various nationalities, they are really beautiful, yourr mother had good taste and her daughter is a clear example of that hahaha" Hannah said and I was also impressed they are all beautiful, but in body ye dinnae know how she look like.
"Ye have nae idea how hard it was tae gather information" I even took information from previous years tae see if there was anyone older, I was trying to get as much information as I could - I tell her.
"I don't know about you, but I think this Russian girl here looks a lot like you, she looks serious and tall" England said
"Sasha Ivanov, she is a very intelligent student, she is two years older than my mother, they say she is the best witch who studied here in the times of the Soviet Union, but I dinnae know how my family would react tae my mother dating a girl from a communist country"
"Your grandmother would dislike any woman with her mother regardless of where she came from, hmmm and this one here, the eyes are identical Diana, look at the smile with split teeth" Hannah pointed at Laura McLaren.
"Very unlikely, I would go fae the last of the choices, an Irish girl known for bad behaviour here in Luna Nova, I asked the headmistress about each one and that's what I heard about this Laura, outside she is the smallest of them all, look at my size... My mother was shorter than me, fae sure she was a tall woman, outside Laura is a game developer and is everything against what the Cavendish family preached, my mother Bernadette wouldn't end up with someone like that, she is quite pretty, but I dinnae think she can be my mother, the others have a reputation of being more behaved" I tell her and really it would be very strange.
POV Narrator:
And the school day after spring break was better than Akko expected, with Kagari this time being able to perform spells with incredible ease, as well as fly on a broomstick, being a milestone in consideration of her magical abilities that had previously seemed non-existent, but finally come to the fore.
