POV Narrator:
Tuesday 30 April 2002, Edinburgh, Scotland
Laura told in a summarized way a good part of what were the events before Diana was born and how things were in the Cavendish family residence until that moment, as it was already a bomb about to explode, what came to give a good disturbance in those plans of the couple in trying to change the world in the construction of a witches' revolution, but that they didn't succeed since the efforts were always well reduced.
The years were passing, arriving in an important date, after Diana had been conceived, the days, weeks, months of Bernadette's pregnancy were passing, she even got a day off from the hospital due to the state that she was, when she was arriving in the exact day, all were caught by surprise, Laura was starting there alone to accomplish the childbirth, calling her friends to help, even her wife's work partners, since that was a very painful and remarkable moment in the couple's life.
POV Laura:
I can't believe my eldest daughter is going to be born, I am so anxious, 'olding Bern's 'and 'ere, I 'ope de doctor also takes good care of 'er, I see de desperation and pain on my wife's face, de cabbagedish is very weak already, I 'ope she 'as strength, she squeezes my hand again.
"Come on Bernadette, just a little harder" said de doctor.
"Ahhhhhhhhh! Diana! Come on, daughter! Get out of there! Ahhhhhhhh" Bern is all in pain, which after so much pulling, we hear crying, I can't believe we made it, dis is wonderful, I could see Diana coming out of Bern, 'ow cute.
My daughter right in our eyes, we 'eld 'ands still very delighted, she is so fragile, still all dirty from where she came out, what soon de doctor was cutting 'er umbilical cord dat was still crying, den giving a bath in our girl, all 'er file was being filled, de initial care, weighing 2.950 kg 'ow cute, I can not believe I'm seeing dis in my eyes, I am a mother, after so long, seeing de girls having their daughters, my turn came.
Den little Diana is wrapped in a towel and handed over to Bern who goes breathless 'olding our daughter in 'er arms.
"Congratulations Bernadette, Diana is born, wow, that was quite a birth" said de doctor.
"She's beautiful, she freckled like you Freckles, she has my face, she's beautiful" Said de cabbagedish who den went on to put Diana to breastfeed.
"She is our Diana, she is our little cabbagedish, de blue eyes, what a beautiful thing, we are mothers now Bern... We have our little girl finally" I said 'appily kneeling down and standing beside de bed with dem.
"Now the work here is done, let's go back to the hospital, take good care of Diana and don't forget to do the routine tests" said the doctor, then she gave permission for more people to come, both of us on de other 'and were relieved.
I never dought dat a birth would be so easy, Rose said it was quiet, April too, although April was a c-section, den it will be mine, it will be 'ard, I keep looking at dem both, like lettle angels, it's very good to see dat Diana is 'ealthy and well, feeding already, what a cute thing.
To see little Diana like this, so fragile and so newly arrived, will have a whole world to see, full of all de love a mother could give, no doubt, I can't wait for when she gets older, run around the yard, learn to walk, play with 'er, show 'er the dings of de world.
We 'ear knocking on the doors, I let 'er in, when I look dey were April, lettle Megan and de girl dat April takes care of after she ran away from home, a certain Croix.
"Awwwwww, she was born, what a cutie, I'll be 'er godmother" she said and I just nodded my head.
"Mummy Auntie Laura had Diana" Little Megan said, what an adorable lettle ding.
Dey come closer and look at Bern, who was still breastfeeding de lettle Diana, giving 'er some affection, dese dree are very cute, but no doubt April is 'er godmother, since I am Meg's, she is very big, she is four years old too, and by coincidence she was born in April too, Croix is getting cute too, 'er hair is getting beautiful like dis.
"Look at dat cute lettle girl, she's de godmother's sweetheart" April said.
"And it was a job fae her tae leave, but now I'm fine, heh, finally I'm here with my little lassie, next tae the person I also love the most in this world, we're going tae be a very happy family" Bern said passing 'er 'and over my face, very tired and panting.
"Being a mother must be quite painful indeed" Croix said.
"I dedn't 'ave room in my hips to 'ave one, I 'ad to 'ave a cesarean section, it 'ardly 'urt at all, and as for you Laura, are you going to have yours too? You look fuller, or you've been eating like your mother" she said mocking me.
"Fuck you, I'm just fat anyway, boeht I've always been like dis, soon my turn will come too" I tell April.
We stayed dere together admiring Bern, she even finished breastfeeding lettle Diana, wrapping 'erself in de blanket and den we took a picture to register de moment, even with de sheet a little dirty.
Rosemary also arrives with lettle Phoebe and 'er husband, de girl is already 'uge, I don't even know how old she must be now, besides 'er another one arrives, Chariot, which I wave to 'er.
"How cute, Diana is a cutie, congratulations ye two on yer daughter" Rose said.
"Diana's born! Yay!" Said Chariot celebrating and I was just laughing.
"Come and see 'er Chariot, it looks like you're not a bit small"
Dey were all getting together, what I could see was dat Croix's eyes were a little bit turning to Chariot, it seems dat someone is falling in love, after running away from home she is wanting something, April's luck to welcome 'er, she will be a very lucky girl to live as she already is.
Everyone gathered dere, even Anna arrives and takes a picture of all of us together, dat moment will be for de history, all of us gathered dere to make a picture of friends, I can't wait to see what I'll live next to dis lettle girl, what I'll go through, even to change 'er 'appy I'm anxious.
POV Narrator:
Days, weeks, months were passing, Laura and Bernadette were taking care with all the love of their daughter, giving all the necessary care for her, even taking to the places to show the dear people the little Cavendish, going to the residence of the family McLaren and also to the residences of the other friends of the family, besides constant visits to Chariot in Edinburgh.
It was another sabbatical year, Laura was very calm in this time, to the point of revealing one more of the seven words of Arcturus, what it was also the farthest she got to discover the words, having even a certain domain of the staff, with the help of her wife Bernadette that told stories to her daughter still very new born.
Daryl meanwhile was watching everything and just getting ready to accomplish what would be her biggest plan, around a lot of dirt and rottenness.
In the middle of this also, Daryl already started to restrict her daughters' contact with little Diana, but Bernadette and Laura's interference didn't allow anything worse to happen, the two cousins even loved having a younger cousin, especially Merrill who was all happy and excited to see the little one, but the other one was not so excited yet.
Diana was already 6 months old when the couple decides to try once again the fertility stone, this time with the aim of having a second daughter, which is going to work out quite well, after a long night of love. It didn't take long and the signs came, Laura was pregnant with the couple's second daughter, now it was Mclaren's turn, which was already an emotion, Diana was still being breastfed at the time, starting to eat different things at that age, Laura was already pregnant, meanwhile they were both taking a good break and getting organized for the future.
Daryl was getting ready to launch what would be her greatest cruelty, she was just waiting for the right moment to come, for now the two were still very distracted, until then they didn't give a damn about what Daryl was planning, because she was also hiding it very well, as long as they kept going there, there was no way anything would fall, since together, Bernadette and Laura were very solid, getting to the point that finally after so long the Cavendish family was having the chance to go back to the top.
Thursday 7 August 2003, Edinburgh, Scotland
Laura's pregnancy was quite calm, the more with the Irish eating everything that she saw in front of her and gaining a considerable weight, she even ate everything just to leave her daughter very healthy and full, Diana at this time was already showing the first signs of speech and walking, the little girl was already
starting to play more, knowing basic words and trying more things, delighting the couple.
Until the day came when the bag burst for Laura, she was with her daughter playing while Bern had gone out, she was desperate calling her wife, running to one of the rooms, what Diana was even very confused. Bern went to the Cavendish house, bringing with her some other doctors and right there the Laura's delivery started, and the little Diana was under Anna's eyes and care, the little girl that was already very naughty and liked to play, jumping around, doing everything to make fun, but even so everybody still loved her, knowing that she was a little bit of her mother Laura's way.
And hours went by, April, Rosemary, Croix and Chariot arrived at the Cavendish mansion just waiting for the birth of little Hellene, with Laura screaming to the point that the whole mansion heard the despair of the Irish having her daughter and it was a considerable time that they spent there delivering the baby.
POV Laura:
If I could describe 'ell it would be de pain of having a birth, 'oly Mary McLaren of all lesbians, so give me all de strength because I'm going crazy 'ere, it's 'ell 'ere, watching Bern on the other side waiting for Hellene to come is pretty tense, April on my side 'olding my 'and won't let me go crazy.
"Come on Freckles, a little bit more strength, I know ye can do it"
"Ahhhhhhh! Fuck you! Get it over with! Get out of my pussy Hellene! Fuck you! Aghhhhhhh!" I feel it coming out, like a watermelon coming out of a hole that only fits an apple, but it was a sense of relief when I felt it pass and finally 'eard a cry.
"She was born! She was born Laura! Ye can breathe and relieve yerself, she's healthy" Cabbagedish said which gave me such a relief.
"Normal childbirth is really complicated, I guess I'm dankful dat I don't 'ave a wide 'ip like yours" April said and I just stared at 'er with de biggest look on my face.
"Fuck it, now dis shit is out, I swear I never want to give birth again, two daughters is already too good, I almost couldn't take dis one" I say tired.
"Well, ye also ate like a pig Laura, Hellene is heavy even, 3.7 kg, nae bad, a very chubby child" Bern said after weighing de child.
"I was born with 3 kg and my mother is much shorter dan me, it is even ironic to dink dat this girl took more work dan me to be born"
"Childbirth is like that, well now let's give the necessary care" Bern said.
I watched 'er giving Hellene a bath, after removing de umbilical cord, doin de first care, writing everything down with de nurse, it's great dat my wife is a doctor, so she knows 'ow to take care of me, gee I'm exhausted, after dis I just want to eat a whole peperoni pizza, and not know anything else.
Seeing 'er wrapped in de towel was very adorable, I even sat up a lettle, I lowered de blanket and gave Hellene a breast so she could feed 'erself, she must be starving, it is very nice to see when de child is born like dat.
"How cute, we now have our two little lassies" Bern said.
"I swear I don't want any more, it's too good, neither from you nor from me, dis childbirth ding is too painful" I say tired.
She den just keeps laughing, April too, but seriously, dis is already too much, I don't know 'ow I managed to 'old on alive after dat, 'aving a child is something I never dought would be so 'orrible to 'ave, now at least I can be relieved and free of all dis, it was the 'ardest ding I ever did in my life.
"Rest now Freckles, ye did much more than I did when I had Diana, it was really a hard labour tae get that chubby one out" Said the cabbagedish patch.
"Now our lettle farm is done, I 'ave my three cabbages" I say laughing.
And we went together dere taking some photos, I even finished breastfeeding Hellene, which gave me enough to cover myself a little more, still with the little girl in my lap, until de others arrived, Chariot was already all curious, she was de first, even running, right next to me, almost tripping over everything.
"Ohhhhhh, Hellene is a cutie" Chariot said.
"Your goddaughter, she is really cute, isn't she? You will still take care and affection of dis lettle one" I tell 'er all delighted.
"Am I going to be godmother? I'm going to be Hellene's godmother? Really Laura?" she said in surprise and I just nodded.
"You are special to us, and it was an apprenticeship dat I 'ad for now, I could learn a lot of things from you lettle Chariot, you deserve dese 'onours, now seriously I am dead tired" I tell 'er who gets all emotional.
"Look at 'er, godmother of Laura and Bern's youngest daughter, it's really a great honour, she takes good care of Hellene, gives 'er all the love she deserves" April said.
I soon see Diana arriving at de bedroom door, she was walking practically alone, she comes to us, towards Bern already asking for a lap, looking at me and also at Hellene, which I gave de biggest smile, she is wanting to 'old 'er lettle sister, but she is still very fragile at dis stage.
"Look at dat Diana, dat's your lettle sister, she's cute isn't she?" I tell 'er and she keeps trying to hold on.
"She really wants to 'old Hellene" Bern said.
"She is still too 'eavy for you my little baby, but you will soon grow more, and soon you will be able to play together with each other" I tell 'er.
"Mama!" Said de cute Diana, 'ow cute.
"They recognise each other, even Hellene has woken up and is looking at her, they are cute" Bern said.
POV Narrator:
Things were suddenly very magical in the years 2002 and 2003 for Laura and Bernadette, who were living the happiest moments of their lives, already married for 10 years and with two daughters who had just been born, nothing could make this magical moment any worse. The couple was travelling from place to place presenting their two daughters to their loved ones, which was also a huge surprise for the McLaren family who had two little girls there, but there was still one who wanted a child, that was Chelsea, but she could not get a relationship for that.
Daryl was watching everything and already saw that it was time to launch her plan, waiting for the end of that year to close the door and start the hell in Laura and Bernadette's life, with Hellene still having a few days and weeks of life.
Hellene with only four months old and Diana with one year and seven months old, were about to be separated in a moment that nobody expected to happen, but it happened and in the worst way. Daryl invades Diana's room, injecting what would be the curse in the little girl, still a baby, who almost cries for the sting she feels, what could already be the warning for Daryl, but she was lucky that the little girl's sleep was strong, then the injection sting went to Laura, who was sleeping with Bernadette enjoying some warmer nights.
Friday 12 December 2003, Edinburgh, Scotland
The things were too good for the couple, it was the high point of that roller coaster, which was about to collapse, the couple wakes up from a long night of love, Laura notices that there is some blood on the mattress, when she looks at her thigh she notices that it was exactly from there that it came out, but it was already dry and the hole was closed, she then gets up, takes a shower next to her wife, both of them are having a caressing moment in the bathtub.
Then they get the two daughters, about to take them for a walk, this time around the house, since it was cold outside, they are being very affectionate, feeding both daughters, with Laura breastfeeding the little Hellene and Bernadette giving a little food to Diana that as always eats making a mess.
POV Laura:
I love dese moments like dis, I dink I'm becoming de biggest mommy, I can't believe I've become my mum Joanne, I seem to 'ave aged for about 40 years now hahaha, ahhh I love being a mum, it's one of those jobs, but dese two make me happy when I see dem like dis, all cute, we walk with dem to de living room, I put
Hellene in 'er chair, where she plays and bites things, Bern just leaves Diana in the playpen, walking around all cute, even talking more.
"They are a love" Bern said.
"It seems like yesterday dat I was 15 and I met you for de first time in Luna Nova, taking you to play video games in my room"
"Really, it doesn't even seem that next month ye'll be 32 years old, time flies, we've been married fae 11 years, 16 years dating, it's a time that I have nae idea how it passed sae fast, there were sae many things that we lived, I love ye very much Freckles" said the cabbage and soon we heard sarcastic clapping coming from the background.
"All right, all right, look if it's not them celebrating together, if it's not them being cute, too bad this moment is going to end" Daryl said and we're just going tae ignore her.
"The conversation 'as not reached de pigsty" I reply to 'er.
De same one just drows a book in our direction, I take a look at de cover, it was written "The curse of the spheres of Enatite, how to get rid of someone you don't want them to stay away" "By Margaret Ford", I don't know why dis book, what a strange woman, it's not enough dat she's 'ere which is already a lot, now she comes to disturb us with a book written by a murderer.
"A book? Big shit" I tell 'er sarcastically.
"It's not just a book Laura McLaren, this is a warning, you two be bound, because Laura and Diana are cursed by this little thing and if you don't back off now, I think in a week some people are going to die" She said right in de face next to our daughters.
"Daryl! This is nae time fae cockroach threats" Suddenly I was starting to connect with dings, I woke up in de morning and dere were drops of blood on de blanket and sheet, my thigh has a little red mark, she injected something into me.
I don't believe it, de voices were even getting a bit muffled, I could only dink of one thing at de time, my life, my daughters, my hopes, dis means dat Diana... I look at my daughter, de two of dem are still arguing, I see 'er also looking at me, I was already making an expression of someone who was emotionally destroyed, I can't believe dat dis 'appened to me.
"Isn't that right Freckles? Honey? Laura?" Bern asks and I went back to de real world a little.
"Bern... Daryl is not lying, she injected something in my thigh, it must surely be something connected with dose spheres" I tell 'er in a melancholic tone and now dat de cabbage connects with what happened, I look at Daryl and see 'er expression of 'appiness.
"What do you get out of it, Daryl? Why force us into dis separation?" I say to 'er already 'alf crying.
"I don't want you here, or your brat, get them out of here or something worse can happen, your influence in this house will only ruin my life more, I want you out, since you got involved in Bernadette's life, you ruined everything, the Cavendish family plans were supposed to work out, if it wasn't for you, now pay your consequences" She said and I was collapsing, I looked at my 'ands crying.
I looked at Diana, she came walking to me, I see Bernadette she was standing with 'er fists clenched, she was looking on de floor at de lettle drops of tears dripping on the city carpet we bought for de girls to play freely. Cabbage walks over to Daryl, she looks pretty angry, I've never seen 'er like dat, I even feel an aura of fear.
"Awww Got? Bernadette, nobody told her to..." I see Bem furious punching 'er sister in de face and it was with violence even.
"Ye, dinnae, footer, in, mah, lee, ah, wull, mak', ye, swallow, ilka, word! ye, ye pumpin', boot! ye son o' a boot! ye! swallow mah haun!" Bern started punching 'er sister, knocking 'er to de ground, I couldn't react and Diana looked at 'er in shock, I even covered 'er eyes.
But it was already late, de two fall on de floor, all I can see is Bern's 'and moving behind de sofa, I can already see some blood starting to appear, I 'ad never seen Cabbagedish so out of control like dat, I could only 'ear 'er screaming, even covering Diana's vision didn't 'elp, she will be terrified.
"Stay here Diana" I tell de lettle girl, I have to break it up or else Bern will go to jail for killing Daryl.
I get over dere and see Bern already kind of continuing to punch, I could already see Daryl 'alf unconscious, slumped on de floor, 'oly shit I was too late, 'er face all disfigured, I never dought I'd see such violence coming from de most delicate person in de world. Bern den gives a cry and punches with both 'ands on de chest of Daryl who I notice is still breathing, but clearly with 'er eyes closed.
"Because! Why did you do it, Daryl? Why did you do it Daryl?" Bern said while still on top of 'er sister.
I get to 'er dat was still very unstable, I see dat Daryl was alive, but well 'urt, Bern really lacerated 'er sister in de punch, but I won't dink it was wrong, it was lettle dan she deserved to take yet, then I 'ug my wife, she turns to me crying, I see dat all de girls were watching, dat will be in deir minds for the rest of their lives, I see de maids arriving and carrying the 'urt Daryl.
"What did she do this time?" Anna asks.
"Bye Anna, look after Bern and the girls, I can't stay 'ere, she cursed me" I tell 'er who is in shock, as I went to 'elp de others to take Daryl away.
I continue de 'ug, I am crying too, Diana comes to us, she also 'ugs us, she was in shock, but she noticed what it was and I went on feeling all devastated, I am going to see my daughter for de last time, dis is too cruel, 'ow could dis woman do something like this, we were living peacefully.
"I can't believe Daryl was able to do dat..." Bern said.
"Let's have one last day, at least one last time enjoying with Diana, before I don't see 'er anymore, I'll make sure I find a way to 'eal from dis and get back to you girls" I tell Bern comforting 'er.
"I know ye will my love" she said with 'er hand on my chin.
And so they did, the couple was enjoying a day with Diana, giving all the treats and affection, theyeven went out of the house to give toys, presents, including one that they saw as the greatestpreciousness, a teddy bear, for which the little one will not forget, that was won with Laura playingand winning tickets for the daughter who was playing in the ball pool with the other mother.
Until they got home...
I made sure to leave dis teddy bear with my scent, so she will never forget who I am, or at least, it depends on 'ow long it will take for me to come back, I look at Diana who was sitting on de cot, playing, I pick up a picture of me with Bern, which we were together, I decide to give it a rip, leaving it like dat on the table and go to my girl.
"I know you are still a baby and barely know dings, maybe you will even forget de conversation we had, but mommy Laura will have to say goodbye, me and your lettle sister are going on a long trip, and we don't know when we will come back, But I will make a point of watching you and taking care of you even from far away, just like mommy Bern, you are my lettle love, my lettle cabbagedish, I love you Diana, mommy will never forget you, Teddy will also take care of you" I tell 'er that she doesn't understand anything, den I hug my lettle cabbagedish.
"Mama Laura..." She said and I was even letting out a few tears, I kissed my girl's forehead, saying goodbye to Diana.
I get up, going to leave, she holds on to my trousers, not wanting me to go, 'ugging my leg, I go spilling in tears, dat all couldn't be so real, I let go of 'er after my leg, I saw 'er falling sitting on de floor and I go walking out of de room, I couldn't not cry, I close de door looking at 'er room all crying, I look at Bern and 'ug 'er.
"I can't believe we're going to have to leave" I tell 'er.
"I'll take good care of Diana is fine... Take good care of Hellene, I know ye will, we will do our best fae our lassies even though we are far away and even then I will never stop seeing ye Freckles, I love ye Laura" Bern said.
I 'ug 'er, still sinking in tears, she too, we can't keep calm, it's coming to an end, but I swear I'll do everything to change dings, I go to Hellene's room where I start packing, soon I'll 'ave to get out of 'ere, I don't know when de spheres activate, so it's better not to risk it.
Already in the garage with the bags packed...
I close de car, de dings so precious are going with me, Hellene goes in de car seat, I 'ope I can come back soon, I look at Bern, she looks at me, we were still very tearful, we 'ug, then kiss, as if it were a farewell, I just 'ope dat soon I can return to de arms of my wife and my family, I will not give up taking care of dem yet.
"Bye my love, I love ye, dinnae worry I'll visit ye whenever I can, I'll take care of Diana with all my love, I won't let Daryl do anything bad tae her" Bern said.
"I'll also take good care of Hellene, I'll be back soon, you'll see, we'll get 'ere together, put Daryl in jail and end it all, we'll all live in peace again... Goodbye Bern, take good care of our cabbagedish" I say opening de door of my car, taking a deep breath.
I turn de key, start to leave de house, I see Bern in de background, it's all over now, I barely got to enjoy de moments with Diana and even Hellene dedn't 'ave someone to play with all dis time, I just 'ope it doesn't take dem many years to find de cure, Chariot's great grandmother was cursed by de same ding, she was only cured when 'er sister died, dis doesn't 'ave a cure discovered yet, which just makes dings a lot worse, but I will find it and soon I will find it with my dear daughter and 'er family, I will be de one to bring dat cure.
POV Narrator:
Things went from wonderful to a real bottom in a very fast pace, making it much worse, Laura lost a good part of her daughter's life due to this curse launched by Daryl, who purposely wanted to separate the two of them so that they would not be a pair that would influence the decisions of the Cavendish mansion, all in the name of greed. At that moment everybody was crying as Laura told, even McLaren herself, a part of the story that changed the whole course, which starts there a time when Laura cannot live so well, since another event comes to shake her.
