Monday 25 March 2019, Edinburgh, Scotland
After the traumatic enchanted parade, spring break started in Luna Nova, with two weeks where the students could use their free time to wander around the city or visit their families. Things had calmed down after Daryl had gone to Diana and Hellene, without the constant fear of the witch chasing them, they could walk around without the worries. Laura called her daughter to go to the Cavendish mansion site, which until then was part of the mansion, but it was demolished, she will travel there, with Akko, after the terrible weekend of the enchanted parade, they will start their holiday with new horizons.
POV Diana:
I hardly wait fae that, I even know why mum Laura called me tae go tae Edinburgh, to be honest, I even wanted tae go tae Ireland and live there, but my place is Scotland, I have tae take at least one step tae start my life again as a renewed Cavendish.
I even look at Akko smiling happily, we are arriving there, my sis also came with us, we landed where the part that used tae have the castle, I even have some memories of how it used tae be, instead of a mansion, now there are piles and piles of wood that are thrown here, besides other things fae the construction of the house. Around there was mum, April, Brooke and Holly.
"Alright, you've finally arrived, I've been waiting for you" said my mother.
"Wow, where did ye get all this stuff, Mum?" I ask her.
"I've been 'ere at least a couple of weeks, I've been buying ding by ding, now we'll be able to rebuild de Cavendish house, of course to your liking, exactly like de floor plan we've come to plan to be" Mum said.
"Ye bought everything? But what about... I have money fae that, I sold everything here tae be able tae start again, I dinnae need tae pay" I say shocked, because it's a lot, it's practically everything ye need tae set up a house.
"You need it, you are my daughter, de money left over you use later to enjoy with Akko, spend on more dings, like your wedding, or when you have daughters, or invest in your career, dere are many paths you can take in life, you deserve dis house, mum will help you" she said hugging me.
"And where do we start" Akko said anxiously.
"Now dings are going to get interesting, I got enough material to make a comfortable wooden house, first we are going to bury a basement 'ere, which will connect to dat lake, where we will be able to get water, I even bought equipment to treat de water from de lake, we will start to install de basics of survival for de house, you will bury de basement, I will install de water pumps and make de water treatment station for de house water" said mum.
Me and the lassies were looking at the house plan that I made, we started measuring, following what I wanted tae measure fae the basement of the house, I was already starting tae scratch, using a little fire magic I was burning the grass tae demarcate where the basement of the house would be, everything with the most meticulous work, in the drawing that I wanted fae the basement, in a more efficient way.

"De house will be a good size" said my sister Hellene.
"This is fae future generations, nae sae much fae the current one, but fae those who come after me, my daughter, my granddaughters, each generation the family will get bigger, and there will be enough space fae
the children tae play and when they have any visitors, but I dinnae want tae build a mansion, I just want a quiet little house where I can live peacefully with my new family" I explain tae them
We were already finishing making the hole in the basement, now we just needed tae make the corridor tae where the water is, since I chose an underground path, in case I need tae do some maintenance on the plumbing.

"Look at it already taking shape" Akko said and I was enjoying it.
"Now girls, leave dis part to me, go and set up de structure of de house" said mum.
This part will be fun, there are tree trunks, we are burying a little more in the basement, starting tae sink some in specific points, the less long ones I left fae the parts of the house that have one floor, the bigger ones in the parts that have two floors, sae we were following the plan, it was already gaining a cool shape, the main pillars were placed, the house will have three floors plus a basement and an attic, it will be big enough.
We started to use magic in the trunks, all this tae root them in the ground and this way the house will stay very firm with the structure, the finished pillars were very beautiful, already gaining a form of a real house with some aspects of tree that I wanted.
"Wow, I didn't even think that's what the huge logs were for, we are going to live in a house made out of tree stuff, I thought it was a great idea Diana" Akko said and I smiled at her.
"Nothing more reminiscent of the Cavendish origin than a house with natural aspects, connected tae nature, with branches and roots, but still keeping a bit of modernity and class" I tell her as I put more touches tae the structure.
"Wow dis even gives a reminder of home" said my sis Holly.
"I was inspired by the McLaren house fae this one, but ye will see the final result" I say excitedly.
I was then making arches tae separate each floor sae the tension of the weight can decrease, putting each part connected and the lassies were doing the same, the structure is taking shape and it's getting wonderful, the sky today is sae beautiful, all open, a miracle it's really not raining now, even more that spring started, it's just cold as always.
The arches of each column were made and connected tae the structural reinforcement pillars, this house fae sure will hold a lot of weight and a lot of people in here, I thought a lot about how tae make the structure of this house tae hold, I really just dinnae expect a fire tae happen, it would be disastrous.
"And that's it! The structure of the house is done, now we just need tae implant the boards and prepare the walls, first we are going tae do the external walls where there will be a small gap tae pass the heating and water pipes and also the electric wiring, for the first time we will have a modern electric wiring in this house, the old one was very improvised" I say already excited.
"Wow it's taken on a nice shape, it looks like it's all one whole ding, de structural parts are well fixed" Mum said.
"Well, it was because of what I learned, I had made this house a few times in every application just tae get a notion of how tae assemble it, it will be really beautiful"
"Go ahead and make de external walls, I'll start running de pipes through de basement, I've already finished de water treatment, with magic it's quick to build a house" I agree, without magic it takes much longer, the work is much more complicated.
I look at the lassies and they go on agreeing with the head, we go positioning the boards in the basement walls first, passing until glued where it is the floor and thus reinforcing of nae happening any sliding, on the floor I noticed that mum Laura had already put the stone blocks underneath, it is giving a pleasant sensation of walking underneath here, I see her also installing the pipes, I dinnae know that mum was sae good with these things.
"Where did you learn to build houses, Mama?" I ask her.
"I took magical civil engineering classes before Luna Nova, when I was studying at Victoria McLaren Witchcraft Academy, it wasn't dat in-depth but den I made a point of learning more over the years, de intention your mother Bern and I had was to demolish de castle to make a house" Mum said and I'm kind of impressed and she taught me the basics of everything well.
"Other dan dat mom already done my Chariot museum" Holly said.
"Well remembered de part of de museum, after we've made de house we'll do de part to keep de Cavendish family relics and sacred books, de house will be made of wood, but dis place we'll do with masonry, so we won't run de risk of losing anything in a fire, everything will be safe" said mum.
Wow, I can't wait, I just want to see how this house is going tae look like, and we finished the walls, it was very simple, now the house is taking shape and the boards made everything more beautiful, the relief that the trunk pillars made gave even more visual, with magic we were fixing the trunks joining as if it was one thing and it's even a gradient between the two, holding tight, I'm soon taking the opportunity tae open a part, where the possible entrance door will be, it will be a very big and beautiful door, but fae now it's just a hole.
"The first door" I say all happy.
"Wow, the house is going to be huge, I thought it was just a normal house, there was no need to exaggerate Diana, this here has room for too many people, it is even bigger than the McLaren's house" said my sweet girlfriend.
"That's because it was the intention, I want tae leave it big like this, maybe the family grows a lot and we can use it tae house someone, ye never know, maybe our daughter decides tae have a party and call all her friends tae sleep here, but there are nae enough rooms" I tell her, already thinking ahead.
"Ah only yourself to think like that" Akko said and I even nudged her nose a little.
"Lassies, let's rest a bit, eat and den we will continue de rest of de house, maybe give some time for mommy Laura to leave de things dat matter in de house ready" said my sister Hellene.
"It will take a little while, but I recommend dat you rest, eat a lettle and then I will install de boring part of de house, like electrics, plumbing and heating, besides the internet that arrived these days - said mum.
"We'll just have a quick bite tae eat," I tell her.
"Dey are going out, you dere together as friends, it will take a long time, I don't know, in de mall or something, dere is still a lot to test around 'ere" Mom said.
"Won't that be too much work fae ye mom?" I ask her.
"I don't mind doing too much work, leave it to me and I'll do it in de best way possible, den when you come back I'll show you 'ow everything is working out, in fact leave it to me to do de roofs too" said mum.
We then hugged mum Laura, she is always sae helpful and does everything fae us, we even got the brooms, I think I'll take them tae the mall in town, who knows sae we can eat and have some fun, I can't wait tae come back and see the house more ready, it's really getting wonderful, there's only a few things left tae be fixed.
About three hours later, when they come back from the mall and even spend some time in a nearbypark having fun, the Cavendish house was already with more things ready...
Wow, the holes fae the windows were done, that's cool, I'm really impressed with the sae much work that mum Laura did, she does these things with sae much tranquility, I pass by the hole in the entrance door, where from there there is already a light on, a light bulb all lit, how incredible the electricity was already placed. I notice that the walls have also been put up, nae only the ceiling.
"Our mother ye put everything" I say shocked.
"Ah this is just to leave it protected, more finished, but de threads are quite nice and come and see dis" she said and we followed her.
Wow it's sae good tae walk on this wooden floor, I'm going tae tell everyone tae walk around here barefoot, I dinnaet want tae see anyone dirtying this floor with shoe dust, we followed where we saw the kitchen of the house, there is already a sink there, Mom turns it on and I'm all impressed, who would say that impressed by a sink, I get tae it as Mom asked and put my hand in, the water is cold and fresh.
"You liked it, didn't you? Look at dis" she said turning off de water in de sink and activating de red lever, where hot water starts coming out of it, I was incredulous.
"What? Did ye do the warm-up too? That's wonderful Mum!" I say, all excited.
"Thrilled over a sink kid" She said laughing.
"A sink from my house, it's quite different, that ye built, a house built by my mother Laura" I say all happy and excited.
"Dere's more, come and see" she said taking us tae the basement.
In the basement things were quite ready, there were already the washing machines, another sink, the things tae control the heating, already noticing that the thermostat left the room with twenty degrees, also the other things like the water controller and the circuit breaker box, everything very nice fae when we are going tae move and the best of all is that there is a partition between this part and the rest of the house, even made with stone sae as nae tae cause fire and also sae that the children dinnae get close.
"I put a sign up 'ere so dat when I 'ave my granddaughter she will know dat dis is a dangerous place for 'er to go as a child" Mum said.
"I loved the attention ye gave here Mum, the message was very clear, also the care sae that nae fire would happen because of all these appliances here" I say impressed.
"And all dis took two and a half hours to install, danks to magic too, I can leave de wires where I want dem and well positioned, de whole house was well sealed against rain, now let's do de roof of ds home of yours" Mum said and I really notice how well the work has been done.
She even shows us one of the walls inside, I noticed that the wires are all protected and there are even devices around that detect if there is any strange smoke, I loved the care with everything sae that a fire dinnae happen, the wires are all well protected and covered, they are even in a compartment of them sae they dinnae spread in the wood of the house, as if it was a pipe involving, I thought it was great.
Then we go back up in the house, she takes us tae where one of the bathrooms is and I notice that there's a bathtub and a shower already placed, gee, I can't wait tae use it, she even turns it on, I put my hand in it and I'm impressed, there's hot and cold water, the bathtub I can't wait tae see how it works too, it's one of those I used tae have at home, with whirlpool and everything.
"So, 'ow do you like it? There's still a lot to install in dis house, but it's what we could do in dis time, install de most boring things, now we'll give the finishing touches, I'll help you assemble the roof - she said and I'm already very anxious.
We go to the outside, our house is already so beautiful, but it needs a roof, we start together to make the structures to make the triangular shape of the roof, the roof itself is already done, all that is missing is the various roofs that are scattered around here and we do the most basic one first, which is the one above the entrance that I thought tae receive everyone, there is even a ceiling where a lamp passes, and we did this part very quickly.
"The first roof has already been done, whoever comes in here will already find this part" I say cheerfully.
It will be very pretty when I put chairs and plants on this little balcony on the ground floor, it will also serve tae look at our girl when she goes tae play outside, or just tae enjoy the landscape, just like I wanted, just a little comfortable place, then we started doing the other places.
The bigger roof started tae be made piece by piece, already getting the shapes and with magic we make everything join and also have something tae seal the space between each wood board, this is getting wonderful, really, the house is getting as I wanted, making it very comfortable.
"It's almost ready, the roof of this house matched a lot, I love the choice of wood" I say all impressed.
"I love the house Diana, you and your mother left it very well done, I love every detail you have thought of here, I will love living with you, it will be perfect, it will be wonderful" Akko said as the final details of the roof were put on.
"And 'ere it is almost ready... De Cavendish's new home" Mum said.
I started tae use magic around each one, just tae make it more alive, some of the pieces of the pillars were growing branches, with some leaves passing through the house, getting very uniform in the columns, and thus joining more with the roof, everything was getting a greener, giving more the impression of being natural and soon we were starting the next part.
"Time for windows and doors" Mum said.
"Half of them install the ones inside with Mama Laura, the other half install the ones outside with me" I tell them and that's what we started doing.
Holly. April and Hellene are going with mum Laura, Akko and Brooke are installing the ones outside with me, since there are less and it's also quite simple, I'll start doing the first thing, installing the door, then we'll do the others, I'm loving this, the whole house is lovely with the plants, now with the doors and windows the charm is even bigger, even more here that has a huge window with a door facing the back part of the lake, I can imagine how wonderful it will be here in the summer.
"Wow, the house is really beautiful, I can't wait until I see the furniture" I say in amazement.
"I love it, every second we are going to live here will be wonderful, it's like a new air I breathe, it doesn't have all the grey and brown atmosphere of before, even here it's still very brown, it's not the same as when I was here before the fire" Akko said.
"That's because ye only came here fae two days, I lived my whole life in this place, it was a heavy environment all the time" I say as I look outside and see my mother coming out of the window.
"I lived 'ere for 13 years and I confirm what Diana said, it was like dat even when I was married to Bernadette, it was so 'eavy that we couldn't stay a second without wanting to go somewhere else, we used to go out all the time to relieve ourselves, but dere was no way, it seems that we carry de weight of all those souls killed by The Council" Mum said tae me and it really seems like that.
"Now you 'ave a much lighter place, without dat weight from before, it will be as comfortable as de McLaren's house" Mum says.
"You're pushing it too much, but I believe you can be as comfortable as you were dere, just by having the people you love 'ere and having all the love dat dis place is de cutest thing in the world" said mum, who then returned tae build the rest.
I kept on assembling the rest of the things that are missing, there are few windows left, the good thing about magic is levitating things tae build fast, even more close tae the Cavendish wizard stone, it really gives me a little encouragement tae keep on strengthening things around here, gee, I'm feeling at home fae the first time.
The windows outside are soon tae be ready, now we only lack a little furniture that was brought here, it came in boxes and we're soon taking it inside, I'll see and everyone inside also finished assembling things.
"Well, now all that's left is tae assemble the few furnishings we have made here"
"It's not long now, we'll soon 'ave the extra furniture coming, it will probably arrive tomorrow, then we'll just assemble it around the house and everything will be ready" said my mother, finishing assembling a door in one of the bedrooms.
I went straight away taking the things from the bedroom tae where the Cavendish leader's room is, there was even a door all decorated for that, I entered the room seeing all that empty space, with Akko, we opened everything and started to assemble the bed, looking at the manual a lot.
"Heh, starting with the bed, right? It was expected of you Diana Cavendish" Akko said teasing me.
"Oh don't start with those implications Miss Kagari ye know I just want to set up the bed with my beloved" I tell her with all affection.
And we were doing just that, we were making the bed and also exchanging kisses, even the lassies entered the room and noticed us kissing, it was such a cute moment, I'm really enjoying all this, it dinnae take long and the bed is all ready, screwed and well made, all that's missing is a mattress fae us.
"De couple already starts with de bed" said my mother mocking us tae the point that I blush a little.
"Tis nae at a' whit ye'r thinking " I tell them with embarrassment and shuffling my accent.
"Well I would find a nice way to have a first night 'ere, de mattresses and blankets are arriving today, dere is time for you to enjoy it" my mother said, making me blush even more.
"'Ow cute, oh sis you and Akko are so cute" Holly said.
"Not when you get used to dese two making out in de bedroom and den you hear de sounds of slapping buttocks coming from de bathroom," said my sister Hellene.
"Hellene!" I say with shame.
"I lied? you call us to play and when you go to take a bath de beating session begins" said my sister only making it even more embarrassing.
"It's a family thing" said my mother, still adding.
"How can you do it? Akko's hand turns red, imagine what her ass doesn't look like," said my sister, and I just cover her mouth.
"Diana who likes these things, I love to make her crazy like this" Akko said and I also put my hand in her mouth and everyone is laughing.
POV Narrator:
And soon the mattresses are arriving at the Cavendish house, the delivery man is even impressed with the house appearing so suddenly since until the previous week it had nothing but building material accumulated, already showing that the witches' work is pretty fast when it comes to construction.
So they were giving the final touches with what they had to assemble, like putting wardrobes, assembling some few furniture as beds and the night was falling soon too, which signaled the time to stop building at that stage.
With that the girls order a pizza and together they go there talking and having fun telling some stories of some moments that they spent at the Cavendish old mansion, what everybody is enjoying knowing about Diana's past and Laura's past also at the residence.
With this the first day ends with many things ready and built with extreme ease and use of magic, where the girls are even getting sleepy after so much work they did to build a new house for new times that will come to the Cavendish family
POV Diana:
Everything's ready fae now, now all that's left is tae think about painting here, installing the rest of the furniture, the good thing is that it has internet, it's possible tae stay on the mobile phone, since the TV only arrives here tomorrow, but it already makes a big difference, this whole house will be ready before spring break is over, I can't wait tae spend all the days of my life here when I graduate next year, I can't wait.
"And 'ow did Diana like de result?" my mum asks.
"I loved every detail, this gave a new air tae the Cavendish house, made me feel even more connected tae Beatrix, made me feel like a real Cavendish, without that gaudy and pompous thing of the aristocratic class,
just the experience of a Cavendish like any other, a genuine Cavendish, I'm nae longer a Lady, I'm just myself, this here is what Mama Bernadette always wanted me tae be, I'm sure of it" I say looking at the balcony.
"And 'ow right you are, because dat was it, we wanted to do dings differently, de plan was to rebuild everything, but Daryl was always reluctant, she still wanted to keep 'er reputation and we preferred to tame 'er, because if she was going to be angry, we knew de risk it was, today we know she would do de worst anyway, I regret not having tried before to change dis place, but I don't regret dat today I am here with my daughter - Mom said and I even hug her.
"I loved that I could finally conquer something like that, ye know? After everything that happened tae me, things went tae the bottom of the well, I had nae direction anymore, but little by little with the people around me I was finding this direction, today I already have many options and vision of being a Cavendish in life, I dinnae want tae be forced to give in by patriarchal pressures of the aristocracy tae keep the reputation and name of the Cavendish, I believed in that, even always doubting if it was true" I say even reflexively.
"If your mother were alive she would 'ave shown you long ago what reality was, but well, you found out everything in de end and with me 'ere I can still show you more dings, maybe one day you too can start a new witch revolution" I'm sure we will.

POV Narrator:
Not just a simple house, this time the new Cavendish house will represent what the Cavendish most valued among themselves, things that were forgotten by current generations and distorted in a way that erased everything the past ever had, besides bringing new and more modern things, representing what is also going through the owner of this house, Diana who until then had been carrying these values that were doubtful, changing and revolutionizing herself, rebuilding to improve the person she wants to become.
