"Look, Cana, I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone, especially Mira."

"that's a tall order," Cana muttered. "why the secrecy."

"When we were fighting, Natsu's power worked," Happy said as Cana nodded. She had figured that much, but what made them all retreat from Zeref? "Zeref then told Natsu that he was his long-lost brother from four hundred years ago."

"what" Cana muttered, "but didn't Anna tell you guys his brother was dead?"

"Natsu did die, but" Happy looked at Natsu again. "Zeref said he brought him back as E.N.D." Happy looked at Cana, "So that means when Natsu kills Zeref, Natsu dies too."

"no, there," Cana looked at Natsu, her best friend, and her family. "No, there has to be something."

"there is, but I'm not sure how easy it will be; Anna said if she gets the book of E.N.D, she can sever the link between them, allowing Natsu to live off his own life force."

"so, we gotta get that book," Cana looked at Natsu again. "Who else knows about this," she asked.

"Just you, me, and Natsu," Happy said. "and Anna, of course."

"Good," Cana smiled. "No one else should know," she said. ", especially Lucy, Erza, and Wendy. News like that will break their hearts."

"and Gray," Happy added.

"Okay," Cana spoke softly, "Gray has been fixated on E.N.D since Tartaros. We can't predict how he'll react." She let out a sigh and stood up. "I'll inform Mavis about it. Don't worry, Natsu. I'll make sure you come out of this okay. If retrieving that book will help save you, then I'll do it," she reassured Natsu as she held his hand. Looking at Lucy, Cana smiled and said, "Don't fret, Lu. You won't lose anything else." Resting her hand on her friend's shoulder, Cana promised, "I'll make sure of it."

"I'm going to tell Mavis about what you told me," Cana said, "just stay here with Natsu."

"all right"

Alvarez arc: Etherious Natsu Dragneel

Gray growled as he walked across the battlefield. Any soldiers that crossed his paths were instantly taken down. 'I can't believe I was so stupid,' Gray growled.

Flashback

"You'd like that, wouldn't you" Gray whispered as he turned around. "Juvia," Gray shouted. "Come on, talk to me," he screamed as Juvia opened her eyes, smiling at him. "Oh, thank goodness' Gray smiled as he brought her in for a hug.

"Gray," Juvia asked, "now is not the time for cuddles. We need to get to Mavis," she whispered,

"and find Natsu." Gray finished

"you mean Etherious Natsu dragneel."

"what," Gray asked.

"Don't you know?" Invel questioned. "Your most formidable foe has been beside you all along," Invel chuckled. "Etherious Natsu Dragneel, the most powerful demon to ever exist, is the cause of your agony," Invel disclosed, leaving Gray in utter shock. "He's the one. He's the demon you're looking for."

"E.N.D," Invel said.

"what," Gray asked, anger coming from his voice as Juvia looked in fear "The hell you mean, Natsu is E.N.D.," Gray shouted.

"He is the mightiest demon from the books of Zeref," Invel groaned, "brought back to life by his majesty. For the sole purpose of killing him," Gray said nothing looking down, "but once more, E.N.D is the source of all your trouble; the demon was the reason Tartaros was created, the birth of curses, and hells core" Invel looked at him "I think you know the rest" Invel admitted, "if I recall Hell core is the reason Keyes came back to life, the reason Deliroa came to your village, the reason you got Ur killed."

"shut up," Juvia shouted as she knocked him out. "Gray, my darling, don't believe a word from him" She looked back at Gray, who had frozen where he stood. "Gray"

"get somewhere safe," Gray whispered as he walked away.

"Gray, wait, you seriously don't believe it," Juvia tried to move, but she fell to the ground.

"I made a promise," Gray growled out, "to end this," he growled, "I have to kill E.N.D."

Gray said nothing as he closed his father's eyes. His body slowly started to disappear as well. "Goodbye, Dad."

"Gray," Silver's voice rang through the air, "you need to finish my fight," he said. "I am an ice devil slayer," Silver said, "as such, I'm one of the few who can take down E.N.D.," he explained, "a fire demon, that is our legacy," he said, "and now it's yours."

"I understand," Gray said as a symbol appeared on his arm. "I promise, Dad."

"I will destroy E.N.D."

End Flashback

"I can't believe I was so foolish," Gray growled. "Not anymore," he said. "I will find and destroy E.N.D," he said. "I will stop at nothing to destroy that demon.

Mira ran as fast as she could. "Cana, Gildarts," she called as the pair turned to her. "Please tell me you've seen Natsu."

"no, we got separated during all the fighting," Cana said. "What's wrong."

"I fought a member of the spriggan, and he." she looked away, "he said that."

"he is the younger brother of my creator Zeref Dragneel." Larcade explained, "And I am Zeref's son Larcade Dragneel."

"that is Natsu's last name," Lector muttered.

"no, that's not true," Mira muttered 'I know that Natsu from four hundred years past, but for him to be Zeref's younger brother.'

"My father cares more about his little brother than me," Larcade said, "so I looked forward to meeting him during the battle. So, he may die," he screamed as he threw Mira away as she did a backflip, landing on the ground.

"wait, you didn't know," Gildarts asked.

"What," Mira asked. "You knew," she said, anger filling her voice.

"Look, Mira." Cana started,

"Don't bullshit me, Cana," Mira growled out. "Did you know?"

"yes," Cana muttered. "Look, we were going to tell you, but" Cana sighed, "it wasn't too long after you took your team up north" She sighed. "Anna brought Natsu back, and Happy told me about E.N.D."

"E.N.D," Mira asked. "What does that have to do with anything."

"Natsu is E.N.D, and that means when we beat Zeref," she looked away.

"I gotta find him," Mira shouted. "We need to find Natsu now," she called.

"Wait, I'll help," Cana shouted as she ran after her.

"Alvarez still has thousands of soldiers," Gildarts called. "Be careful."

"Natsu," Cana whispered. "Where are you."

Dimaria growled as she walked in circles. 'I can't do anything to the dragonborn,' she muttered as she turned to look at Lucy, a dark grin on her face, 'No, he's too important,' she giggled, the stain of Brandish's blood still on her weapon "but you" Dimaria smiled as she as appeared behind Lucy who was still unconscious "you made me do this" she growled "you took the one thing that I had left" she laughed 'and to think I was starting to understand what the windbag brat was going on about' she laughed 'wait a sec you mean a lot to that girl don't you' she grabbed her head 'and once more you took my Randie from me, you corrupted her, what made you so freaking special, what did you give her that I didn't' she muttered as tears appeared on her face 'Randie would still be here if it weren't for you, so I'm going to kill you slowly and painfully then so I can get the satisfaction of the dragon slayers, I'll present them with your head' Dimaria let out a strange and sinister laugh as she pushed her hair to the side. 'I hope you're ready, blondie; I will put you through hell.'

"Natsu" Sting shouted as he ran across the battlefield, taking down soldiers. "Hey Elfman" he screamed. "Have you seen Natsu?"

"no," Elfman shouted. "Why, what's wrong."

"I'll explain later. Come on, we need to find him," he shouted.

"Natsu" Cana screamed. Turning a corner, she saw three people. "Wait, that's Porlyusica, Kagura, Wendy, and Anna," Cana shouted, getting Cana shouted getting their attention.

"It Cana," Porlyusica said. "Glad to know your all okay."

"Please tell me you've seen Natsu," Cana asked.

"Is something wrong," Wendy asked.

"Not right now. We need to find him." Cana shouted,

"all right," Carla, come on, we can look in the sky," Wendy said.

"Right," Carla said.

"Wait, Wendy, Carla, do you see anything with your clairvoyance," Porlyusica asked.

"I see fire and ice," Carla muttered, "and anger but nothing to help figure out where he is," Carla muttered.

"come on, we're running out of time," Wendy shouted as Carla carried her off. "Please be okay, Natsu."

Anna said nothing, thinking of what this meant as she thought about Zeref looking at the fairy pub sitting high on the mountain. 'I bet you're enjoying this right now, Zeref,' she sighed.

Flashback

"Hey, Zeref," Anna called as she sat on his bed. "I found some information about the celestial world; I think I can build the amount of magic power to control it" Anna laughed as she sat up. "Zeref," Anna called. "Zeref," she shouted, getting the boy's attention.

"Oh, sorry, Anna, what did you say." Zeref smiled.

"geez, always in that head of yours," Anna laughed. "It's a miracle your as smart as you are," she said as she lay down again. "What I said was I think I figured a way to make contact with the celestial world."

"Really," Zeref asked.

"yep," Anna smiled, "you are looking at the girl that's going to break the barrier on celestial and time magic."

"right, you're also researching the arc of time," Zeref laughed as he looked at his picture for the eclipse gate.

"what's wrong," Anna asked.

"It's nothing," Zeref sighed. "Just the academy turned down my research plans again."

"oh, I'm sorry," Anna smiled, "but hey, I'm sure you'll come up with something that'll knock their socks off."

"you think so, huh" Zeref muttered as he played with a locket.

"Speaking of which, what's with that necklace," Anna asked. "I don't think I've ever seen you without it."

"Oh, this," Zeref smiled as he walked over to her. "It's just a picture of me and my little brother, Natsu."

"oh, so that's your little brother," Anna smiled. "You're both so cute."

"thank you," Zeref smiled. "It's sad he probably would have lived a fulfilling life and accomplished such great things," he sighed. "When he was born, our mother looked at me and said, Zeref, you're now a big brother; you just must remember the dragneel creed," he said, "You never leave family behind. Natsu will look up to you, and you must protect and guide him."

"you think me and him would have been friends," Anna asked.

"I'm sure he would have liked you," Zeref smiled.

End Flashback

"the more this war goes on, the more I understand," Anna said as she ran to find Natsu.

Inside the fairy pub, Irene sighed. Mavis had gone quite a while ago, but the process took a while. 'Never before has it taken so long to strip the magic power from someone," she sighed as Zeref appeared behind her. "Oh, do you need something else, majesty? I'm sorry, but I must focus on the task at hand.'

"Irene, please stop for a moment," Zeref said.

"But majesty," Irene asked, confused.

"I wish to speak with Mavis once more," Zeref asked.

"I think she's made her stance clear," Irene said, "and I highly think this will change her mind" She looked him over" Don't tell me you're having second thoughts."

"Irene" Zeref shouted. "That's not me," he screamed as he stood behind another Zeref, who soon vanished.

"what" Irene muttered as she looked at Mavis's body, placing her hand on it, having it go right through. "That little girl tricked me."

"Mavis must have used Larcade's magic to slip away when we were all incapacitated," Zeref muttered. "We must find her at once, but you are not to harm her. Do I make myself clear?"

"as you wish," Irene growled, turning to leave the pub, "but know that I will take her children's heads and lay them at her feet."

"as long as you don't kill the Dragonborn," Zeref smiled. "As you said, we still need them."

"oh, their death will come," Irene muttered, "because the monsters left over when I'm done with them will be true dragons and finally free."

"of their disgusting humanity."

Outside of the pub, Mavis sighed as she slid across the rocks. At the moment, She only had one hand. The book she had was too important to leave behind. Looking down wasn't an option as she slowly tried to get to the battle "damn, this is bad," she looked around. "I need to regroup with everyone else" She looked at the sounds of battle," they're going to need my help."

"so Whatcha doing" Zera called as she looked at her friend.

"Zera, I'm, Climbing," Mavis stopped. "Zera."

"hold on," Zera snapped her fingers as tree branches appeared. "Thanks to this magic, I'm now connected to Fiore," She smiled. "come on, I'll get you to the action. It may take a while."

"All right, let's go," Mavis said as she looked down. In her arms was the book of E.N.D.

"What that," Zera asked.

"unfinished business," Mavis said. "I need you to see something for me, too" Zera nodded as she and Mavis were up on the tree.

"here we go," Zera said.

"There," Porlyusica called as she and Cana ran up to where Brandish lay. Wendy landed next to them. "She's injured," she said as Wendy approached her." she's lost a lot of blood," Wendy muttered. "You got something for that."

"I can handle that. Just close her wounds," Porlyusica said.

"Carla," a voice called.

"Happy," Carla shouted as she ran to her friend. "What happened to you."

"so fast," Happy muttered.

"Hey, take it easy," Porlyusica muttered.

"it all happened so fast," Happy muttered. "We followed Brandish here because she had grabbed Lucy, then out of nowhere Brandish attacked us, she and Lucy got into a fight, then another member of the twelve appeared, she was everywhere," Happy muttered, "with one move she took down Brandish and before we could even register what happened knew Lucy was on the ground."

"Dimaria," Wendy whispered. "Where did she take Natsu and Lucy."

"I don't know," Happy cried.

"I might not be able to find Natsu, but I can smell Dimaria," Wendy growled. "Try not to move too much, Brandish." she sighed. "Happy Carla, come on."

Lucy groaned as she woke up, seeing Natsu still passed out across from her '"Natsu," she tried to move. "Wait, I'm tied up" She looked around. "These are anti-magic, damn it," Lucy muttered.

"you Ishgarians have some nice toys," Dimaria said as she appeared behind Lucy. "In Alvarez, we never thought of ways to keep a wizard in containment," she laughed. "We usually just kill them, but here you have found a way to keep even a member of the powerful spriggan twelve in confinement," she laughed. "Your friend had me in cuffs just like this," she appeared in front of Lucy again, "when she told me to value those I had now," she said as she grabbed Lucy's face.

"you," Lucy growled out, "you killed Brandish" Dimaria froze before slapping Lucy hard across the face, shocking the girl.

"you killed Randie," Dimaria growled. "you corrupted her," she screamed as she slapped Lucy again, this time drawing blood. "you made her question everything; what did you do to her" she shouted. "Did you torture her? Is that it? Why did she start to trust you," she cried. "I want to kill you so bad," Dimaria laughed. "But no," she appeared next to Natsu, "I want you to suffer."

"no, please don't," Lucy begged.

"oh no," Dimaria laughed, "I'm not going to kill him" She lifted Natsu's motionless body "his majesty was clear, and I'm a warrior; I follow orders."

"even if they make you kill your friends," Lucy shouted, which got her another slap as she tried to catch her breath. "You murdered her 'cause you were ordered to do it," Lucy managed out, "Yet you say you were her friend," Lucy managed through struggling breath as Dimaria stabbed her in the leg as Lucy screamed.

"you shut up," Dimaria shouted. "She was perfect before you got to her," she screamed, her voice cracking as she fought back tears, "just when I found the words I wanted to tell her, you had to come in and make her my enemy."

"I did no such thing," Lucy shouted as Dimaria landed on her, the small knife inches from her eye. "Brandish and I were fighting moments before you got there."

"she stuck her neck out for you," Dimaria growled. "she risked her life for you," she growled as she clutched her shoulder. "She even lied to August for you," she growled. "So, I'll ask you again what you did to my Randie."

"Apparently, I was her friend," Lucy admitted. "I was a part of her past that you clearly knew nothing about," Lucy told her. "she wanted to protect me because we were connected long before we even knew each other," Dimaria said nothing as she looked at Lucy, anger, continuing to grow on her face.

"make your peace," Dimaria growled, "and make it fast. First, I'm going to gouge out your eyeballs," Dimaria smiled. "then I'm going to leave your head and your friend's feet. His majesty said nothing about emotional distress," she said as she raised the blade. "go on, scream."

"what so you can get some sick satisfaction for your guilt," Lucy told her. "You're just angry 'cause you went through with it, that, unlike Brandish, you didn't have the heart to stand up for someone you cared about," Lucy shouted as she stared directly at her. "Nothing will change that it will eat away at you," Lucy growled. "So go ahead and stab my eyes out; I don't need them to see my friends cause no matter what you do to me, I know they'll always be there for me," she growled, "do what you want it won't make you feel any better."

"shut up," Dimaria muttered, tears appearing on her face. "Shut up," she screamed. As she stopped in front of her so close to Lucy's eye that her breathing hitched, Dimaria looked at her, tears just flowing from her face "damn it, you don't know anything," she screamed as she raised her hand again.

"wait," Lucy shouted, closing her eyes. Then she felt nothing, a brief period of heat. She was on the ground when she opened her eyes. "what" Lucy whispered. "Am I alone in her" She then heard someone move as Lucy looked to the side and, to her horror, Dimaria lad against the wall, severely burnt blood splattered everywhere, shaking.

"monster, demon, the devil," Dimaria kept repeating as she looked at Lucy. "Your friend is dead," she whispered.

"Natsu did this," Lucy whispered.

"no," Dimaria muttered, "he's awake," She laughed. "he's awake and is now unstoppable, just like his majesty said" She laid back. "The most powerful demon to ever exist, he burnt through my power like it was nothing," she looked at Lucy. "Your friend is dead, and E.N.D. is awake."

"what" Lucy muttered.

"Lucy," Happy cried as he flew in, crashing into her.

"your alive," Carla cried as they both hugged her.

"Happy, Carla," Lucy muttered.

"thank goodness I found you," Wendy shouted as she entered the room. Behind her were Porlyusica and Cana, who was carrying Brandish on her shoulder. "Are you okay" She looked around. "What happened here."

"Natsu's not with you," Cana asked.

"everyone" Lucy then looked at Brandish, who looked away from her. "Brandish."

"your alive," Dimaria muttered.

"who did this" Brandish asked as Wendy went up to Dimaria.

"you need to run," Dimaria muttered. "E.N.D is awake."

"oh no," Cana muttered.

"what is she talking about," Lucy asked.

"that tumor," Porlyusica muttered, "when she enlarged it."

"hold still," Wendy said as she looked Dimaria over. "Fortunately for you, I've seen worse" She smiled. "I'll get you patched up real quick."

"what," Brandish asked. "She's your enemy."

"I know that," Wendy said.

"Is Natsu going to be okay," Happy asked, tears on his face.

"We need to find him first," Wendy whispered.

"you wanna find that monster" Dimaria laughed.

"stop calling him that," Cana shouted. "I'm so sick of people calling him that."

"your friend is dead," Dimaria laughed. "All that's left now." she whispered, "is E.N.D."

"What is that"

"I don't know" All the soldiers looked to see a shadow covered in flames. It stood up, looking them over.

"tell me where he is," it growled out. "Where is Zeref."

"ha, there you are," God Serena laughed. "Now kill him, men."

"fine," the person said as he jumped, creating a sizeable explosive wave of flame, knocking everyone out of the way. "I can smell you, Zeref," he growled. "I will not stop," he screamed. Ash fought through all the soldiers creating large buts of fire with each step he took. "I will kill you, Zeref," he shouted as the flames disappeared, revealing E.N.D., his shirt badly burnt from his flames. Demonic markings appeared on his skin, along with dragon places covering his body, as he unleashed another wave of fire, killing every guard stupid enough to get in his way.

"This guy's unstoppable."

"hold the line."

"get out of my way," E.N.D shouted as he blazed past them. "Where is Zeref" he screamed as he let out a demonic roar.

"well then, I guess I must take you down" God, Serena laughed. "Now face," he was stopped when E.N.D rushed past him, making him cough up blood as he turned around and opened his mouth, letting out a large wave of fire, killing him instantly.

"Fool," E.N.D muttered as he turned; looking around, everything around him started to burn as he continued forward. "Zeref," he whispered. "Where are you, Zeref" he growled as he looked at the fairy pub. "There," a dark grin grew over his face as he slugged forward. Ice appeared before him as he turned, "Who dares."

"found you," Gray muttered.

"You're not Zeref," E.N.D growled out.

E.N.D has been awakened, and the fate of Natsu is left in the air; At the same time, Gray has finally found his greatest foe.
