Baby Commercial

Betty grinned as she looked around the soundstage. "So, this is where the magic happens, huh?"

Bob, the assistant director, nodded his head. "Oh yes, very much so. Though this is going to be a rather easy shoot. Nothing to fancy." He chuckled as he led Betty, who pushed Phil and Lil in their stroller, through the soundstage as the crew set about getting everything in place. "Oh, there is the director…"

Betty frowned, tilting her head as the director walked in talking to a bunch of groupies that hung on his every word. He was dressed like he was some big time Hollywood hotshot and looking down on everyone he saw, condescending laughing at his own jokes.

"Seriously?" Betty said, raising an eyebrow and glancing at Bob… who had turned red with anger.

"Jackie!" he roared. "What the hell?!"

"Ah, hello Buzz-"

"It's Bob you idiot and what are you doing? Who are these people?" He gestured at the crowd.

"Just my admirers here to witness my work and genius. I am about to spin straw into gold!"

Bob just stared blankly at the man.

"Its diaper commercial!" Bob finally snapped. "Are you high right now?"

"A little."

"…what?" Betty said.

"I mean-" Jackie began but Bob cut him off.

"Seriously, this is how you act? I give you a chance to finally direct a commercial and you act like some snotty art house patron? No wonder Terri is thinking of leaving you!"

Jackie started at that, his arrogance dropped. "She… what?"

"You act like an ass, you ass! This is why they fired you from McDonalds!"

"They didn't understand my genius-"

"YOU CLEANED TOILETS!" Bob roared. "That's it, get out of here. I'll direct the commercial myself! We just need some shots of the babies playing around on the clouds and giggling, won't be that hard."

"But I had it all framed out! Step by step instructions for the actors-"

"BABIES! THEY ARE BABIES!"

"Please Bob," Jackie whimpered. "I need this… I paid a lot for these groupies-"

"Not enough!" one of the women said… in a rather deep and gravelly voice.

"Get them off set, this is costing us money!" Bob chopped his hands before turning to Betty, voice soft again. "Please take your kids to makeup. We'll just put a little on them so they look good in the lights and then film them playing around. Stand off to the side and make faces at them, that helps."

Betty gave a salute. "Can do!"

~A WEEK LATER~

"That Bob is a real professional," Betty told Didi. "Ran a crack whip kind of operation… I liked it! And the kids enjoyed it too!"

In the playpen Tommy looked at Phil and Lil.

"But doesn't it feel like you should have gotten into more trouble? And had a lot of silly things happen?"

Phil shrugged. "Not really."

"You keep bringing that up, Tommy. Why?"

Tommy sighed. "I don't know… something feels different, that's all…"
