Twin Piques

Tommy looked at Phil and Lil, the two of them very upset. "Don't you see, Chuckie? Phil and Lil are tired of people not being able to tell'em apart!"

"Uh huh," the twins said.

"And I know how to fixes it!" Tommy proclaimed. "If you two act like different people then you won't be acting like each other!" He smiled; internally he thought they should act like him, so they would agree to go on more adventures.

"Tommy," Chuckie said, shaking his head, "that's not gonna work."

"Yes it will!" Tommy said with a grin. "If Phil picks someone different from Lil and they act like those people then we won't confuse'em!"

"I guess that could work," Lil said.

Phil pondered that. "But who should we act like-"

"But we aren't the ones that mix'em up, Tommy!" Chuckie pointed out. "It's the big people that do! And they won't notice them acting different because adults don't notice babies bein' different unless they are crying or screaming."

Tommy looked at Phil and Lil, getting a bit frustrated that they weren't jumping on his brilliant idea. He looked at Chuckie, his smile falling into a frown. "Okay then what do you think they should do then?" he demanded.

Chuckie, not realizing Tommy was mad at him, tapped his chin while Lil went over to get her bottle. "Well… the adults confuse you two because you look the same, right?"

"Uh huh," Phil said, bobbing his head.

"So why not wear something different?" Chuckie suggested. "If you wear different clothing then you two won't look the same."

Tommy laughed at that, walking over and putting his hand on Chuckie's shoulder. "Oh Chuckie, Chuckie, Chuckie. That will never work. The adults like putting Phil and Lil in the same outfit. They won't-"

"Oops," Lil said, having sprayed milk all over her dress.

"Oh Lil, look what ya did!" her mother declared, having spotted the mess. "Don't worry, sweetie, mommy packed an extra set of clothing for just this occasion!" It took only about 10 minutes but when Betty returned Lil was wearing a pale green shirt with a pink skirt that just barely hid her diapee. "There we go… all set!"

Phil and Lil looked at each other before Lil tossed off her bow and the two quickly ran about before coming to a stop, looking up at their mom. Betty merely smiled and gave them each a kiss on the forehead… and called both by the right name.

"Great job, Chuckie!" Phil declared.

"Yeah, this is perfect! We'll just switch who makes a mess each day so we get different clothing!" Lil grinned. "And maybe eventually our mommy will realize we like wearing different things."

"Aw, it was nothing."

Tommy, for his part, pouted that everyone wasn't going with his ideas… only to blink and wonder why he was so upset. Phil and Lil were happy… why did it always have to be him who came up with stuff?
