In the Naval

"Angelica, what is THAT?" Tommy said from his stroller, eyes wide as he stared at the biggest bath tub he'd ever seen. It was so big he couldn't even see the edges of the tub!

"That's the ocean, silly," Angelica said. "It's a big body of water! Almost as big as my house! Almost!"

"WOW!" Tommy said, amazed. "And we're gonna go on the boat? And play on the ocean?" Tommy was practically vibrating with excitement. He wanted to go right now! He saw the boat which was much bigger than the one he played with in the bathtub at home and his daddy and his Uncle Drew were already getting on it with his grandpa and he couldn't wait till he got on it and got to play all sorts of ocean games!

"Nope!" Angelica said, snapping him out of his thoughts. "I get to go with mommy… we're taking a pleasure croons. But you are just a dinky little baby, remember? And dinky little babies don't get to play in the ocean because they're too little!"

"That's not true, Angelica!" Tommy exclaimed. "I can so play on the ocean!"

"Nu uh," Angelica taunted him. "Your mommy and daddy don't trust you."

"They do too!"

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah!"

Angelica smirked and waved her hand, getting Didi's attention. "Aunt Didi, Uncle Stu and daddy and grandpa are going on that boat, right?"

"That's right."

"And me and mommy are going on a pleasure croons?"

"Cruise, Angelica." In truth it was a glass bottom boat that would tour the harbor.

"And what about… Tommy?" she glanced at her cousin. "What boat is he getting on?"

"Oh, Tommy isn't going out today," Didi said, Tommy's eyes going wide at that.

"Why not?" Angelica asked innocently. "It is because he's a baby and you can't trust a baby on a boat."

"Well… yes," Didi admitted. "Tommy might get hurt and I want to keep him safe."

"Because he's a baby," Angelica repeated.

"That's right." With that Didi turned back to talk to Charlotte.

"See, baldy?" Angelica said with a grin. "You don't get to go on the boat." She leaned in. "In fact… its your fault your mommy doesn't get to go on the boat. She has to stay and have no fun because someone has to watch YOU."

"I… that isn't true, Angelica!"

"It is," she taunted. "You stopped your mommy from having an adventure."

Tommy narrowed his eyes at that and worked to get out of the stroller. Plopping onto the pier he toddled forward. He'd prove everyone wrong! He'd sneak onto the boat and-

"Aunt Didi!" Angelica shouted. "Tommy is head towards the water!"

"Oh my!" Didi exclaimed, grabbing Tommy despite his attempts to escape. Once he was in her arms he began to fuss and cry, trying to get her to understand. "Hmmm… I guess we need to leave early and get him a nap."

"Because he's a baby," Angelica said as Didi carried Tommy away.
