Grandpa's Bad Bug

"Hey Tommy," Chuckie said as the babies played with a firefly that had gotten into the house, "are you sure about this? Your mommy seemed really set on us going to bed soon."

"I sure am, Chuckie!" Tommy declared. "Big kids don't go to sleep all the time! That's for babies! We're gonna stay up all night!"

"But we're already in our pajamas," Lil said. "And theys really comfy."

"…maybe but we can still wear our jammies and be comfy and NOT go to sleep!"

"Alright sprouts, hope ya have a good sleepover!" Lou said as he entered the living room, bending down and gave Tommy a kiss on the forehead, making that baby giggle as his mustache tickled his bald little head, and patted the rest of the kids. "I'm off to my all-nighter pinochle tournament! Don't wait up!"

"Hey pop?" Stu called out as his father moved towards the door. "I thought we agreed that you wouldn't stay up late doing these all nighters. Its not healthy for a man your age!"

"Don't worry, I took a nap beforehand."

"Pop…" Stu said, still worried.

"It will be fine," Lou assured him. "That was before I got on this new medicine."

"I'm just worried, pop. You promised you'd babysit tomorrow, remember? Tommy is really looking forward to it."

"That is a low blow," Lou grumbled as looked down at Tommy who was beaming at him before letting out a sigh. "Fine, I promise ta be back by midnight, how's that sound? That way even if I sleep in I'll be good for when you and Didi go on your date."

"Thank you, Lou," Didi said. "And besides, maybe you'll win and get to head back early."

"Heheh, maybe! I'll use that as encouragement! Win it quick and use the money to take me and Tommy and a spendin' spree!" He waved and headed out.

"Wow guys!" Tommy exclaimed, watching his grandpa leave. "I always thought that bedtimes and naps were things mommies and daddies forced babies to do because wes were little. But if my grandpa has a bedtime… and he takes naps… that must mean we can be big kids and still gos to sleep!"

"Good," Chuckie said before letting out a yawn. "Because I wasn't looking forward to tryin' ta stay up all night."

"Well, I still think we should try and stay up later," Tommy said, looking out to see the sun was still out. "There is still a lot of adventuring to have!" He waved for his friends to follow him! Come on, we need to, uh, crawl through this tunnel!" He grabbed some pillows and piled them up. "We do that and we'll make it to the land of always Sunny!" He plopped down and began to crawl through the pillows.

"Okay," Phil said. "But only if there are yummy worms!" But when he went to crawl through the tunnel he found Tommy's butt blocking the way. "Uh… Tommy?"

"zzzzzzzzz"
