Man of the House
"How was your doctor's appointment, Pop?" Stu asked as Lou walked in. He was holding Tommy while Didi was cradling Dil, who was busy shaking a small plush ring with beads in it that made a rattling sound. It wasn't as forceful as it normally would be as Dil had learned if he tossed a toy while carried often his mommy and daddy would never get it for him.
"He's glad with the results of that medicine I'm on," Lou said. "I haven't had any sleepin' fits so he says that's a real good sign." His smile turned sour. "Not happy with my cholesterol though…"
"Just need to work on some moderation," Didi said. "Now that you got some energy back maybe begin working out?"
Lou rubbed his chin at that. "Well, suppose that's one thing I could do. He did mention that exercise can really help…" He looked over at Tommy and Dil. "Hey… maybe I could begin takin' these two fellas with me for jogs! Start'em off in a stroller but when Tommy begins learnin' how ta ride a bike…"
"That's a great idea, pop!" Stu said before handing Tommy off to Lou. Tommy, for his part, giggled and laughed at the idea of getting to go ex-prizing with his grandpa. "Alright, I'm off. Tommy, hold down the fort for me, will ya?"
Tommy's little mouth dropped open at that.
Later on him, Chuckie, and Dil were in the playpen, Dil rocking in his little baby sit rocker while Tommy and Chuckie played with blocks.
"What do you think your daddy meant by 'hold down the fort'?"
"Well," Tommy said, "I think he meant that I need to make sure everything remains safe! Just like in that movie we saw last week, Reptar Goes West! We have to protect my house from Nakey Mericans and varmints!"
"How do we do that?" Chuckie asked.
"Well… my Grandpa is gonna take me and Dilly with him when he goes ex-prizing so I can make sure there are no threats!" In his mind the house slowly began to turn into a fort, with the stroller that was sitting in the corner becoming a covered wagon. He looked over at Dil, who was now wearing cowboy gear, before Tommy toddled over to his outside hat and put it on, it morphing his clothing into a sheriff's outfit. "And we make repairs to the walls and ensure the well is workin'…"
"Tommy! Tommy!" Dil gurgled.
"You'll help me keep watch too, Dilly!" Tommy declared. "You are the bestest at watchin'!" Dil giggled at that, delighted that Tommy was finally seeing how amazing he was. "We'll hold down the fort, Chuckie!"
And they did.

"…so he actually got a little adventure," Trixie said with a smile.
"When he's not being an idiot I allow for fun," the creator said.
