Ruby awoke the next day in her new dorm room with her new team at the early hour of five in the morning. Well before any of her teammates, including the secret faunus. With this she grabbed her gym clothes and headed down to the school's gym for her morning workout routine. She was looking forward to Beacon's legendary gym and all the new options that it would hold for her. Though she mainly works on running, legs and core workouts it doesn't hurt to see all the other options. Maybe if they have a good machine she might even do some arm workouts, but with her practice with Crescent Rose after school she doesn't really need to. The weapon itself proves to be the best workout for her entire body but especially her arms.

Arriving there she finds that she is the only one present, which she is quite happy about. Working out alone is quite the best as she could listen to her music and not expect anyone to bother her. She double checked the message from Weiss yesterday stating what time classes started at and decided that she could fit a two hour workout in today. Just as she expected the gym was quite exceptional, but alas it was wasted on the small girl. She used a total of three different types of equipment which could have been found at any regular gym, but they were turned up to levels that normal civilians couldn't do. In fact they were even higher than what Signal offered and Ruby loved that. She felt that she was wasting away at her old school's gym with maxing out the equipment early last year. Now she can finally push her limits again.

As she was finishing up her routine it was just past seven in the morning and her scroll started blaring. Of course it was Weiss, Ruby swears that the heiress is trying to run a military camp with their team since she was appointed leader. Of course since Weiss was the leader of the team Ruby answered her scroll and was immediately blasted with "Where are you, you dunce!?"

Grumbling Ruby replied "I am in the gym. Do I have to let you know every place I go?"

"Of course! How else am I going to plan everything out!?" Weiss's voice rang through the handheld device.

Ruby sighs and says "Ok, I just finished up. Can I take a shower down here now, oh mighty leader?" Of course it was sarcastic, but Weiss actually took it seriously for a moment.

Of course after that moment was over she scowled "Just take your stupid shower. I don't want our room to smell like your dirty sweat. Be back up here by seven thirty, we still have things to plan." At that Weiss hung up and Ruby sighed even more, there was no way that she could get used to this and deal with it for four years. Why did that stupid rule have to exist, while Yang and Blake might be able to squirrel their way out for a different pair of partners Ruby was stuck with Weiss as her partner for the foreseeable future. Of course there is the independent huntsmen exam that you can take at the age of eighteen. It is mainly used for those in the rural portions of the kingdoms that can't afford to go to the academies or aren't skilled enough. Though Ruby would still have to wait three more years and would not have the luxury of being in one of the best institutions on Remnant to learn her trade. That didn't stop her dreaming about the possibility of just leaving and seeing Weiss's face as a mark on her record for losing a partner while at Beacon.

After Ruby's relaxing shower and getting dressed in Beacon's student uniform provided to her she headed back to her dorm. The uniform was something that Ruby liked and hated. She liked that it had a lot of red based colors on it and how it kept her warm. She hated the checkered design of the skirt and the multiple layers of clothing it possessed. It took almost as long to put on as her combat gear, and her combat gear had practicality. Even the combat skirt, though Yang still argues that one. Once Ruby entered her room she was greeted with an odd sight. In front of her was the same room that she fell asleep in last night with the beige walls with fancy inlays on it. The lower wooden portion was the same as well with its gray toned wood topped with an oak molding and gold trim. Though Ruby knew that the fancy paintings on one side of the room were definitely not there before, or the Achieve Men poster hastily slapped on the room on the other side. That one was totally Yang, the paintings though was a toss up between Blake or Weiss in Ruby's book, but she was definitely leaning towards Weiss. They just fit the image perfectly.

Of course there was also the fact that every shelf now was piled with books, and based on how they were series they all came from one person. Ruby remembered seeing Blake reading so she had to guess that they belonged to the black haired girl. Though this all paled in comparison to the fact that all the beds were now in just one giant dogpile in the middle of the room. Ruby chuckled and said "So this is our sleeping argument now?"

Weiss once again scowled like she always does at this point "No you dunce, we were just deciding on how to handle that issue!"

Before Ruby could start up yet another argument with Weiss, Blake cut in "Yang brought up that we could make bunk beds." She then turned towards Wiess and narrowed her eyes before continuing "Though Weiss says that it is a stupid idea."

"It isn't safe! Plus if Beacon wanted us to use bunk beds they would have provided them." Weiss countered.

Ruby just shrugged her head and said "I do not care as long as I have a place to sleep. Though I will say that Signal did use bunk beds, though it was a much smaller school." With that Ruby started to unpack her two duffle bags of items. She packed light as she decided that she really didn't need much of anything at Beacon and she could get anything she might require through the Huntsmen Trust Fund. While Ruby hated relying on it, mainly because the only reason she had it was that her mother died on 'duty', it did come in handy. So all she decided to pack was a week's worth of regular clothes and a few pairs of her combat gear. Never know when it might get damaged in battle and Ruby hates going out in a ripped blouse. The less skin showing the better for her.

The second had more of her personal items in it, not like toiletries. She knew she could buy that at the school's general store, no much more personal items. Items that meant the world to her and she could never depart from. So she asked the question "Which desk is mine?" Weiss pointed at the one just to the left of the window looking out into Beacon's courtyard. With her destination set she pulled out a carefully wrapped glass case that was four feet long on her desk and took off the blanket covering it. It revealed Sundered Rose in all its metallic glory. It literally shined in the light from peaking through the window.

Ruby was admiring it and looking for any imperfections across its body when she heard a huff from behind her. "What are you doing with that? There are no weapons in this room, either put it in your weapons locker or throw it out." Of course it was Weiss's voice, and this was not going to go unnoticed by the redhead.

Yang tried to calm down the situation because she, like Ruby, knew that this was extremely important to Ruby. She also knew that Weiss and Blake had no idea what it was and wanted to try to reason with them. "Weiss, ple-"

That's when Ruby exploded once again and cut Yang off. "Excuse me!" Ruby pointed her finger mere inches away from Weiss's face as the heiress shrunk down in size at her partner's outrage. Ruby continued to yell "You do not get to tell me anything about this weapon! I will never throw it out, and if I find out that you ever do such an atrocious act behind my back I will make sure that you will not survive another minute!" At this point tears started to well up at the edges of Ruby's silver eyes and Yang walked over and comforted her with a gentle hug while rubbing Ruby's back.

While looking at the other two in the room Yang calmly said "That was Ruby's mother's weapon. It will not be touched unless Ruby says so." The other two look at each other and then back at Yang and silently nod along in agreement. They had no idea what they just walked into, but by the looks of it it was an emotional minefield. Weiss was so stunned that when Blaske brought up the bunk bed idea again she just agreed with it, as long as they were stable and it was done after classes that day. Of course that brought up classes and the group silently started to head to their first class of the day, Grimm Studies. They arrived five minutes early and the pairs sat next to each other, much to Ruby's dismay.

She looked over at Yang and whispered "Why do I have to sit next to her?"

Yang whispered back "because she is your partner. I know you two aren't on the best of terms, but you have to do this." Ruby just inwardly signed at this and pulled out a notebook and pencil for the upcoming class. It shortly began right after team JNPR just made it into class. Almost immediately the students found that professor Port's way of teaching was to lace facts about the Grimm in his ever long stories about his heroism when he was younger. It meant you had to listen to them in their entirety to get the small bits of information needed for the class, luckily Ruby already read a lot about Grimm types and abilities. It still didn't deter her from trying her best to take notes on any information that she could get from the pot bellied man.

Just like her partner Weiss who was writing down her notes, though unlike Weiss Ruby was only writing about the facts not the entire story. Unlike either of those two the other pair of their team were not quite paying attention at this point. Yang had actually fallen asleep while listening to the man and had used her hair as an impromptu pillow. What surprised Ruby was that she was openly sleeping and the professor hadn't done anything about it. Blake on the other hand had propped her textbook up and was reading a book behind it. Ruby thinks it was called Ninjas Of Love or something. Based on how she was trying to hide it and its name, Ruby could only think that it must have been a smut book. Of course Blake read smut out in the open, what else could you expect from your teammate. Ruby turned towards Weiss again and saw that Weiss had also picked up on the two slacking off, and she was not happy about it. Great another verbal fight was going to happen after class. It was already giving Ruby a headache, or was it the boring lecture going on?

Eventually professor Port led to a final question at the end of his story. That question was "So who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of the huntsmen traits?"

As if she wanted to show off to the entire class Weiss raised her hand immediately and said "I do sir."

"Well then let's find out." Professor Port said. "Come on down and face your opponent." He continued as he waved his hand towards a shaking crate in the corner. You could easily hear the beast within the room as it tried to escape its captivity. Weiss donned her combat gear and stepped down onto the lowest section of the lecture room with Port and the encaged beast. She got into her fighting stance wielding her rapier at the cage. A few from the room cheered her on, but noticeably none of her own team actually did. Ruby could care less about the fight and her leader trying to show off. Blake still didn't know where she sat with the daughter of one of the worst companies in the world on faunus rights and Yang was actually hoping she would lose to knock her down a peg.

"All right! Let the match begin!" Cried professor Port as he swung his blunderbuss ax down towards the cage and broke its lock. With that gravity took hold and the door to the cage fell forward and slammed onto the ground. It revealed a Boarbatusk that instantly charged the heiress in front of it. Weiss on her part nimbly rolled off to her left as she took a swipe at its armored side, doing little to no damage to it. She faced the beast again when professor Port interjected "Haha, wasn't expecting that were you?" This distracted Weiss for just a second, but in the midst of a battle a second meant a lot. That second meant less time for her to respond to its second attack, forcing her to block. The block stopped the attack outright but got her rapier stuck in between the tusks of the Grimm, who then twisted and launched the rapier across the room.

Weaponless now Weiss was at a major disadvantage against the monster as it came for another attack. She rolled off to the side again and sprinted for her rapier as the Boarbatusk slammed against the desks in the front row of the room, startling the students behind it. She once again got into a stance and prepared herself for the next incoming attack, though this time she decided to use her semblance. As it charged her in a deadly spin she blocked it with a glyph shield, which caused the beast to fall back onto its back. This exposed its vulnerable underbelly, something that Weiss seemed to notice as well, as she propelled herself forward with another glyph to stab it in the gut. With a gutteraly snort the beast died and began to disintegrate there in the room.

With the beast slain the class sat there in silence as professor port began to clap. "Bravo! Bravo! It appears that we are indeed in the presence of a huntress-in-training! I'm afraid that is all the time we have for today. Be sure to cover the assigned readings, and stay vigilant. Class dismissed." With that the class was over and the others began to walk out of the room, other than team WYBR. They just looked down at their team leader who was currently panting from that little fight that she just had. Though even while heavily panting, Weiss had a smug look on her face as she had been praised by the teacher. To her this was just more proof that she was the leader her team needed, even though it was only the first day. Ruby just simply rolled her eyes at the heiress as she felt that the fight was sloppy and Weiss didn't have the endurance for any types of fights yet.

Of course once Weiss had regained a steady breath she grabbed her school supplies and forced her team to follow to their next class. In total they had three classes together today as a team and the final class was an elective, or a team leader class if you unfortunately one. This meant that the team was still together when they arrived into their next class. That was History with a very energetic professor bolting around the room while taking sips of coffee. Though he was quite unprofessionally dressed, and his fast speaking made it quite hard to write notes on his ramblings; but Ruby found some odd form of kinship in the man. He liked to go fast and get to the point just as Ruby was. Of course he also got brownie points for the fact that Weiss was having trouble keeping up in her notes while he was speaking.

Eventually his class ended and the green haired professor was the first to bolt out of the room, leaving his students to themselves as they packed for their third class of today. That was sparring class with professor Goodwitch, and something that Ruby was really looking forward to. True she was doing her best to keep up with the other classes during the day knowing that they all would help her as a huntress, but fighting was the one that she was on equal footing with the rest of the class. She didn't miss two years worth of that as she skipped up to Beacon, though she did wish she had her aura boost that she would get when she turned sixteen. Though she made sure to make up for it with her skill and endurance that was high above others in her class.

Once all the students arrived professor Goodwtich went right into her speech "Hello students, this will be your sparring class. We are to meet everyday and a random pairing will decide who battles in the arena below. Even if you are not currently battling do pay attention. You can always find new techniques or ideas when watching others battle. While you all came here to fight the creatures of Grimm you all must learn that not every huntsmen job revolves around these creatures. So it is imperative that you learn how to fight your fellow man and are able to do it alone or on a team. So for this first week we are going to do the spars with your partners, so you can learn each other's strengths and weaknesses. With that all said, let's see who will be our first spar." With that professor Goodwitch looked up at the holographic screen above the arena with the students to see who the first two to fight that day. Eventually it landed at a pair, Pyrrha against Jaune. Ruby saw professor Goodwitch sigh as she said "Miss Nikos, Mr Ark come on down."

To say the fight between the Mistral four times champion and well probably the worst ever student admitted to Beacon was one sided would have not done this beat down justice. The only thing that even went in Jaune's favor was his rather high amount of aura, and in the case of this fight was actually worse for him. It meant he had to get hit even more by Pyrrha until he finally dropped into the red aura wise. All his swings with his sword were wild and often even messed his footing up. He tripped at times when Pyrrha wasn't even near him. His display got a lot of snickers from the class and a lot of sorrys from Pyrrha herself. He was quite literally the exact opposite of Ruby, no skills but abundance of aura. Ruby did find herself a little jealous of the aura levels he had.

Next up was some random pair that Ruby couldn't even pay a mind to, instead her attention was directed to her partner Weiss as she was still fuming on Pyrrha's battle. "That nitwit couldn't even put up a fight. He is dragging Pyrrha down and worst yet he was made team leader. I do not know what headmaster Ozpin sees in that boy."

Ruby just looks at Weiss with a blank stare as her head is held up by her right hand. She just exhales "The point of being at Beacon is to get better, by the time he graduates he could be on Pyrrha's level. Also headmaster Ozpin picked him for his tactics and ability to send out commands to his team. Just because he lacks skill doesn't mean he can't be a leader."

"Yes it does. To be a leader you must strive for perfection, and be the best. This is why I wanted Pyrrha to be my partner." Weiss retorted. Of course, here she goes again, it hasn't even been one full day and she still laments on how she didn't get the best student as her partner.

"That is only for you princess. Only you strive for such an impossible thing as perfection. Also hate to rain on your parade but you also lack skills, that fight earlier today quite sucked. You shouldn't have been that tired from such a short fight. Plus thanks for reminding me of how unfortunate I am to be stuck with you as a partner." Ruby replied still lacking the energy, she had hoped that more than one fight could go on at once, but alas Beacon would rather you study the fights of others than be constantly fighting.

"How dare you! I am a Schnee and we always strive for perfection." Weiss hissed and crossed her arms with a little hmpth. She then continued "I would rather have anyone else as a partner than a snot nosed brat like yourself… Well, except for Jaune."

Ruby was going to counter that when a loud "Ahem" was heard across the class. That startled the two girls that were currently getting into another argument and lost focus on everything around them. That loss of focus included their volumes, as Weiss's outburst had been heard by their strict combat instructor. "Miss Schnee and Miss Rose, since you so graciously talked in my class it seems the two of you volunteer for a spar now. Please get ready and gett into the arena."

A couple of chuckles could be heard from some of the students at this, but Ruby didn't care. She gets to fight and even better she can show Weiss her place. Without much time wasted the two came down and prepared for combat. They bothe synced up their scrolls to the arena so their aura levels could be monitored while fighting. With that done both took out their weapons, one a rapier, the other a giant scythe. Ruby could hear Yang cheering her on and was glad that her overbearing sister was here with her.

"Let the match begin" Goodwitch called out. Immediately Ruby shot forward towards Weiss, in hopes to catch her off guard. Though Weiss was prepared and immediately rolled out of the way and tried to side swipe Ruby. This didn't work as Ruby's pole blocked the rapier's strike. Ruby then slammed the blade of her scythe into the ground and spun with it so as to not lose momentum in her run. She once again went straight into Weiss, the heiress this time using a glyph to block the attack from hitting her. With a large slam the dull side of the blade crashed into the glyph and allowed the two to stare at each other. Weiss attempted to use another glyph to freeze Ruby but failed as Ruby turned into petals. Confused Weiss looked around her and was caught off guard as the petals reformed into the redhead and Crescent Rose slammed into her from the side.

Weiss was flung up into the air, and before she even started heading back towards the ground Ruby began to fire at her. The first two shots hit the heiress like a freight train as they slammed into her, both rounds were fire dust rounds and proved quite explosive. Though before the third round could hit her, Weiss threw another glyph at the last second to block it. With that she flipped and landed onto her feet on the surface of the arena again. Now though she was quite sore and tired from their fight so far and how much damage it did to her aura. She looked down at the scroll attached to her wrist and saw that she was already in the yellow. Though that did not catch her eye, what really caught it was that Ruby already was missing a portion of her aura. Without Weiss even hitting her once. That made no sense to the white haired girl. Though she did not get to think about it much more as their fight continued.

While Weiss was looking at her scroll for a second Ruby had switched her magazine for a different type of dust rounds. She chose gravity dust for the boosted mobility as she saw that Weiss was already out of breath. Without even waiting for Weiss to be ready she fired the first round behind herself and launched forwards towards the heiress. Weiss heard the shot and looked up to see a red mass hurtling towards her and instinctively put out a glyph. Unfortunately for her she was not able to create it fast enough as Ruby went through it breaking it. Weiss stared helplessly as Ruby came in and slammed the scythe's dull side into her gut and launched her into the wall of the circular arena. With a thud Weiss hit the ground and the match was called. That last hit had dropped her into the red, just like her face was now. She was majorly embarrassed by the younger girl winning the fight. Especially since Yang, one of her teammates was so overenthusiastically applauding her win.

The two went back to their seats, Ruby with pride in her easy victory and Weiss hunched slightly over holding her stomach. The duo did not speak the rest of the class and when it was over they went their separate ways for classes. Weiss had to go to the leadership class, and Ruby got to go to her favorite choice of elective: Weapon Crafting and Upkeep. Ruby entered teh workshop for the class and smelled the metal and oil immediately. She felt that she had been dropped in heaven and a large smile worked its way across her face. She always enjoyed when she was able to be in the workshop working on her sweetheart, or really any other weapon as well. It was something that she took a lot of pride in being able to do. Though judging by the size of her class, not many others did. For she was one of ten students in the class, from across the entirety of all years at Beacon. This class literally was meant for anyone to take whenever at Beacon and all it had was ten students. Weapon maintenance is important, so Ruby would have thought that many others would have taken it too, but she was wrong.

In fact she was one of two students even from her year in it. This was disgraceful in Ruby's eyes and at this moment she made up her mind, until others learned the importance of maintaining their weapons she would not help with maintenance or upgrades. Especially Yang, the girl had basically used Ruby to make those gauntlets for her. Sure she never really asked, but there was no way Ruby was going to let the MK1 be the final product. It was literally some welder's gloves fire dust attached to the knuckles. Yang had theorized that the gloves could handle the heat since they were designed for being next to flames and the dust would give her punches extra power. Even their dad had said no to that idea, but it did give Ruby a basis for an actual weapon. Thus after many hours Ember Celica was born.

Those two hours of class went by too fast for Ruby, and she soon found herself heading back to her dorm room. She was not looking forward to having to see the heiress again, but Ruby hoped with the beat down earlier today she would leave herself alone. That hope was squashed the second she walked into the room.

"Why didn't you tell me that you have the lowest aura in the whole class!" Weiss immediately yelled out as Ruby opened the door. Of course Ruby was the last one back as she had to clean up her station when the bell rang.

"You didn't ask." Ruby spat back at the heiress.

"I thought I didn't have to ask! That is something that you should mention right away! This is why you shouldn't be in Beacon yet! Who was dumb enough to let you in!?" Weiss screeched at the redhead. Loud enough that most likely the entire floor had heard it.

Ruby had enough of this she walked up to the heiress and stopped only inches away from her. Ruby stared into the icy blue eyes and yelled "I did not ask to be here this year! I wanted to wait until after my sixteenth birthday to have higher aura levels, but headmaster Ozpin wanted me this year! That is who had me come this year! So blame him you stuck up rich girl!" With that Ruby spun around and left the room again with a solid slamming of the door. She didn't know where she was going, but she knew that she did not want to be there. To ensure that no one could follow her she used her semblance and sped away from the dorms. Soon she found herself out in a courtyard towards the back of the campus, surrounded by many flowers varying in colors. She sat down on a nearby bench and sighed, Beacon had not been living up to what she had dreamed of it.

After about thirty minutes Ruby realized she was no longer alone in that courtyard. She turned around and found that she was in the presence of the silver haired headmaster as he was sipping his coffee and staring at the sunset. Does he always have coffee? What is it with these professors and their coffee?

"Enjoying the view, Ruby?" Ozpin asked with a small grin.

"Haha, good joke. You know I am not here for the view." Ruby retorted dejectedly.

"I do know. Sometimes humor is needed to lighten the mood. What seems to be troubling you?" Ozpin replied as his small turned into a slight frown.

"I don't think I should be here yet. I mean everything has been going wrong since I arrived. I am partnered with the worst person possible and she is my team leader. I have the lowest aura levels in the entire class and I feel like I do not belong." Ruby ranted to the headmaster.

Ozpin hummed at first to acknowledge her complaints, then he decided to dissect them. "While Weiss may be a little rough around the edges, I do think that she has a warm heart under all that ice.-" Ruby raised her eyebrows at him as if he was just lying at this point, but Ozpin continued on. "She may not be the best leader, but of your team she was the only one to take initiative. Do you think that there would be someone better on your team? Do you think you could fill that role?"

After contemplating it for a moment Ruby relented "No. I don't think I could be a leader at all. I barely like talking to people as it is, let alone order them."

"Ruby, it isn't always about ordering people. Being a team leader is about inspiring in others what is needed for them to grow. Anyone can boss others around, only a true team leader can make their team grow. Do you not think yourself capable of this?" Ozpin replied, his neutral tone coming more of one of defeat.

Ruby just simply shook her head "No I cannot. I can barely inspire myself to get out of my comfort zone, how can I expect myself to inspire others to do the same?"

Ozpin solemnly nodded his head along, "And this is why Weiss was chosen as your team leader. She may be bossy to most, but of your team she has the highest chance of inspiring others. She chose to come to Beacon, instead of going to Atlas. There is much said in that choice alone about her resolve… Tell me Ruby, do you know the importance of the team leader's partner?"

Ruby again shook her head and replied "No, isn't it just another member of the team?"

Ozpin slightly smiled at this "I would have thought that your Uncle would have told you, since he was STRQ's partner to their team leader. A partner of the team leader is a very important role, they are there to help when things get too much. They guide their leader down the path needed for the team, look for the things that their leader might miss. They become a pillar that ensures their leader does not falter. Without them the team can as easily fall apart as if it had no leader. It is just as important as the leader itself. Tell me, are you being that pillar for Weiss?"

"No I am not." Ruby replied softly as she stared at her feet.

Ozpin hummed to that and said "No you are not. How can you expect Weiss to rise to the challenge when you do not back her up, but instead fight her on every occasion? Plus it has been one day Ruby, it took more than one day to raise Atlas into the sky. So why do you think Weiss would be a great leader already? She is learning just as you are, but she has to learn faster. She has to set an example for your team, while trying to figure out herself what that example is."

Ozpin adds "As for your last statement, I do understand that your aura is lower than average. Yet you make up for it with skill, not just in your weapon. You strive to find any weaknesses that you have and try to fix them. You lack endurance, you make a workout regimen around increasing your endurance without relying on aura. That is why I had you come forward. You already have the correct mindset for Beacon, and find yourself on level with the current student body. All the while you have the largest weakness dangling in front of you. You didn't run from it, instead you chose to find ways around it. Plus your weakness is one that will fix itself in time, something that not all others can say for themselves."

Ozpin finishes it up with "So while it may seem difficult now I know you can rise to the challenge and beat it like the others have before you. I have made more mistakes than any man, woman, or child on this planet; but at this moment I do not consider allowing you into Beacon to be one such mistake. Do you?"

Ruby thinks about it for a moment. While she does seem rather weak aura wise compared to the others in her class, she does have the skills to be here. She knows that she had reached the limit of what Signal could provide her, so other than her aura level she wouldn't have changed much waiting two more years. So arriving at Beacon early would help her expand her strengths and help her hone your craft more. She has already seen the improvements in the gym from this morning that allowed her push past the very limits that Signal had, let alone the knowledge of the professor's present here seem to be much larger than those at Signal. She will be fighting tougher opponents too, which will help her find her weaknesses and iron out her own combat style.

So after her moment of thought she shakes her head and finally replies "No, I do not think it is a mistake. I really do need this to become a huntress and I am greatly thankful that you have given me this opportunity." Ozpin nods his head along and the two finish their conversation to gaze upon the waning sunset. After a few moments more Ozpin disappears from the courtyard to leave Ruby alone once more, as her thoughts start to go in a different direction from when she first arrived. Eventually Ruby decided to walk back to her dorm room and try her best to not explode on Weiss. It might be a long road to being Weiss's pillar, but every journey starts with a small step.

Ozpin sighed as he entered the elevator. He had hoped that Ruby would have seen that there was someone better on her team to be team leader. He was hoping that it would be herself, but the redhead seemed to have no drive in that aspect. Ozpin needed a really good reason to switch the roles around and even with the constant bashing of the members could not find one. His biggest obstacle was the pure fact that none of them had what was needed of a team leader. He had hoped that Ruby would have the same spark as her mother, one to bring others together and drive them to achieve new heights. She does not have that. In all his years on Remnant Ruby has been the first silver eyed warrior to lack that spark.

It was a discouraging sign, and Ozpin never let such signs go. The smallest signs now could easily lead to catastrophic issues down the road. While Ozpin was not superstitious he could not take chances, not with all of humanity weighing on his shoulders. So he had to know was this just a broken girl before him, or a sign of a much darker time to come. Was she just never truly able to get over her mother's death, or a sign from the Brother Gods that Salem was growing stronger? So he needed someone to judge the girl, someone that had seen a silver eyed warrior up close before and understood better than most. So with this knowledge he called up a trusted ally to check on the girl and hopefully change the direction that she was currently heading.
