-Prologue: The End of Vegeta: Bardock's First and Last Selfless Action-
The year is Age 735. It was at the height of power for the power of Frieza's empire, alongside the height of power for a being of monkey-like humanoids known as the Saiyans. With the simian civilization under Frieza's control growing in power and influence within the empire, especially with the fear and paranoia of a legendary Saiyan whose own power dwarfed his own, the evil emperor resolved to kill all of them by gathering every last Saiyan on Planet Vegeta and vaporizing the planet. While a few Sayians suspected a possible betrayal against their race by the tyrant, the only one who knew of his true plans was Bardock, a powerful Saiyan that had an attempt on his life during a mission that saw his comrades killed by one of his lieutenants. Together with his wife, Gine, they took their one year old son, Kakarot, and placed him inside a Saiyan Pod. The infant son of Bardock was confused, upset, afraid as he bawled within the pod, as Bardock and Gine leapt through the rocky crags of Vegeta to get him out, arguing along the way.
"Bardock, what if Frieza doesn't come as you said he would?" Gine asked, feeling her soul tearing her son cries.
"Then I'll go and recover Kakarot. I've set the coordinates to a planet called "Earth", where he'll be safe if we can't get him," Bardock replied, stoic, yet still feeling his soul rended as Kakarot cried on. However, he continued to a rocky wasteland, facing away from the knowing eye of the tyrant. "It's most likely off radar for Frieza and the other Saiyans, so he'll have a better life there than here." Gine's frown turns as she faces her husband.
"I'd thought I'll never see a Saiyan like you care about his own son!" she half-joked, smiling a little.
Bardock turns to his wife, exasperated, but with a slight smile on his rough face. "You know me, I've always been the destructive type. It guess it would feel good to save someone instead."
He then sets down the pod onto the ground, the red tinted window facing the two Saiyan adults as they look in and see the infant Kakarot in the pod, stopping his crying as he looked at the two, tears still streaming down his eyes. The two then feel emotions: Gine the same tears that her son's feeling, and Bardock a stoic look that is betrayed by his inner turmoil on sending him away from the doomed planet. They set their hands on the pod, the baby setting his own hands on the pod.
"This Pod will be on an auto-pilot to a planet called Earth. If we're still alive, I will come and get you!" Bardock said to his boy, soothing his soul.
"I will miss you. Please be safe and never forget about us, Kakarot!" Gine cried out.
The pod springs to life, the two watching as their child is going off into deep space. And this was time for Bardock to leave, too.
"Gine, go and find a hiding spot. The time has come," he commanded, and before the female Saiyan can even say anything, the only thing left was a white trail going upwards into the atmosphere, his "FRIEZA!" yell heralding his appearance in front of the galactic tyrant. As for Gine, she did as her husband had told and hid away back in her home, the few trinkets allowing her to find peace, whether it'd be in life, or the afterlife. As she last remembered, her other son was off with the Prince and his escort, so he will be safe, at the very least.
On the edge of the ionsphere, the Father of Kakarot and Frieza finally initiate their final standoff. For all their bluster, the only one that looked even remotely there willing to defy the Emperor was the lowly monkey, and he simply clapped slowly, chuckling at this final defiance. And unlike that coward of a king he had disposed of earlier, this one was willing to fight.
"Oh, it's so good to see you! I thought you would simply be in your mud hut as you inevitably await your demise, like the rest of your kind," Frieza said, arrogant as ever as a small smirk shows itself. "However, a small, insignificant monkey such as yourself stands no chance against me, and I shall extinguish you and your world with but a finger."
After Frieza ended his little speech, he simply prepared his attack: a small, sun-like sphere, simply ebbing away at the edge of his index finger, awaiting his opponent's attack.
"Your grip on our world, and our people, ends now, Frieza! And this..." Bardock charges a blue energy sphere in his right arm, a grin creeping on his face. "Will change... Everything. Now DIE!" At the end, the Saiyan renegade launches his Riot Javelin at the galactic emperor.
However, the tyrant simply laughed in a state of manic, his sun-like projectile starting to grow, and grow. What started as a marble-sized sphere soon grew out to a sphere roughly as large as a moon, the Riot Javelin doing nothing. Bardock couldn't move, his mind in disbelief as the giant star-like object soon stopped growing, and with that one finger, the sphere went on a collision course to the planet.
But, before it could land its mark, Bardock was stuck in the giant sphere, rapidly expiring in the overwhelming energy, as his life flashed before his eyes. His younger years, looked down by adults for being a meddling low-class warrior. His rapid rise in power during his adulthood, following his wins against overwhelming odds as he extinguished numerous civilizations, and being reluctantly granted the elite status. He and Gine's first assault on another planet and her eventual banishment to the meat processing plants. His encounters with his sons. His sons, the two in a handful of Sayians that weren't on Planet Vegeta, and the ones that will bear the legacy of their father.
"Ka... Kakarot... You'll be safe... Please... Avenge us..." Bardock whispered to himself.
The final word that exited out of the dying father was a yell.
"KAKAROOOOOOOOT!"
And Gine, seeing a giant glint of light approaching closer, simply sheds a single tear. This was the end, as she closed her eyes and awaited her fate. It was painless, as she was simply incinerated without even another moment to spare.
From the Attack Ball, the final sights of Planet Vegeta was that as it cracked like an egg, before a horrific explosion completely obliterates the rocky sphere, leaving nothing but a dust cloud from where it used to inhabit.
"OOH HOHOHO, OH MY! THIS DISPLAY OF FIREWORKS IS MAGNIFICENT!" Frieza yelled in hysteria as he was cackling. The Super Saiyan... the Super Saiyan God... he had taken the initiative and destroyed that monkey mudball and now there's no way that thing will even come true.
"Lord Frieza!" A grunt-level Frieza Force Soldier, who looked like a blue humanoid with pink hair and two horns, ran into the Emperor's Balcony, interrupting his lord's laughter. The levitating chair that Frieza used as a vehicle lowered, as he glared at the grunt.
"What is so important that you had to interrupt my celebration, Kuran?!" the Emperor asked, his voice dripping with venom.
"We had found a ship not too far traveling away from here! However, it seemed to have been sent off-course by a rogue asteroid. Should we go and get it?" Kuran spoke in an urgent but absolutely panicked tone, his eyes closed as he knows how trigger-happy his Lord is. However, the Emperor was a bit curious and decided to follow the grunt to a radar room. And true to form, a ship vector went from a smooth curve into a violent jut outwards. However, his lips curled into an evil grin as he noted where it went. The sector of space that ship went into is infamous for having truly inhospitable conditions. Black holes, quasars, and whatever small planetoids remained were simple rocks with no atmosphere.
"No, we don't need to take care of that monkey pod. That desolate patch of space will do the job for us," Frieza stated, before turning around. "Now, back to your station! We got a lot to do and a lot of wine to share!"
During the venture into deep space, the pod went off course by colliding with an asteroid, causing it to plummet into a wormhole, engulfing its prize in a grip of utter blackness. It was as if the pod, and its inhabitant, never existed at all.
However, this isn't the end for the son of Bardock, but an unusual new beginning. The pod had escaped the wormhole and went on a collision course to a different Earth, one much different to the one that either Saiyan parents had imagined. With angular buildings, a bustling population numbering in the billions, not very advanced technologies, and with an array of different nationalities and cultures instead of one unified nation under a monarch, it hid one last gimmick underneath the neo-modern era extremities. That being the unusual powers showcased by its population, where superheroes come straight out of the comics for roughly 80% of its populace. In due time, the young Saiyan will start out his adventures on this new Earth, as his Pod starts hurtling towards the planet's surface at re-entry speeds, aiming where its computer cannot identify: the island nation of Japan.
-Part 1: The Childhood of Son Goku. Chapter 1: Enter Son Goku, the Mystery Baby-
Fourteen years ago, Year 2135, a couple from Musutafu were hiking in a remote forest, a few kilometers away to escape from the bustle of the city. While the couple were looking over the sunset, they had noticed a white streak in the sky and marveled at the sight of it. As it grew closer, however, they grew nervous and took cover as the object flew right over their heads, crashing a hundred meters out with a mighty explosion. As they approached, taking a look at the sphere and its large impact crater, they saw it open and inside was an infant, probably no heavier than a couple sacks of flour.
"Why would there be a baby in this thing?" the man, a mid-20's man with a stocky figure, asked, looking confused at the object and inspecting it at all angles. The other person, however, was transfixed on the baby, absolutely concerned about the condition of this poor thing. He had looked starved, and he is only shuffling a little, light mumbles escaping his mouth as he's starting to rise from the stasis slumber.
"I don't know, but I don't want to leave him in this forest, Gohan," the woman, an early 20's woman with a petite figure, said as she swooped the tiny figure into her arms.
"Me neither, Mikai... I'll try to find where he came from and if we can't find where he's from, we'll raise him like he's our own," Gohan affirmed. The infant took an immediate liking to his adoptive parents and his monkey tail wiggles, causing her to smile gently. Though, he still cries a little, needing food soon.
"Aww, he looks so happy seeing us!" she says, as she gives the baby a gentle hug, causing him to start giggling. "Hmm... What should we name him, if we can't find his parents?"
Gohan looks and sees the tail, an idea sprung forth as he recalled a story he read when he was in high school. Specifically, his mind sparked to Journey to the West and its main character.
"I think he should be named 'Goku', because of his monkey-like tail," he said, affirmative in his choice.
"Son Goku... That's kinda like the Chinese character Sun Wukong! But it is a sweet name for such a sweet boy!" The baby responded well to the name "Goku", much to their happiness, as Mikai started to make her way back to Musutafu to get him a proper meal ready.
However, having needed to report this event, Gohan took out a phone, photographed the unidentified object, and sent the picture via text to one of his Hero friends, and they had left the object behind. As the news stated, despite the crash landing of something, there was no trace of it left, indicating to the Hero father that it was extracted.
They had raised the boy as if he was their own child, down to having a false story of his birth whenever the two are asked about him. To officiate their claims, they even received a falsified birth certificate that is identical to a real one by mail addressed to Son Goku, its return address blacked out. However, Gohan knew all too well just who had the authority to send these things out, and felt a bit pale as he noticed the small card, with only these words written on there:
"Raise him well, and reveal to no one his true nature until he is ready. We'll watch from the shadows."
Unlike babies of his age who could get by with formula and soft sauces, the baby, now known as Goku, wanted meat off the bones and bowls of rice and vegetables and all kinds of delectable foods. However, due to his inhuman metabolism, he still looked as light as a human infant. As he grew older, he was starting to recognize the world and its beauties, both natural and artificial, and in particular loved to watch the exploits of Heroes on the television and online, especially with his father telling him stories of his days of Hero duty. This was the first spark within the young boy as he aspired to be a Hero, to make his mother and father proud.
On occasion, the three go to Takoba Municipal Park Beach and watch the turtles come in, engrossing the young Goku in wonderment. Sadly, despite the three Sons trying to keep their piece of paradise clean, the increasingly polluted conditions of the beach that had started with individual trash pieces drove the turtles away, as it turned into an unofficial dumping ground. It didn't sit well for the Son family, the father being especially disgusted at this callous disregard for the life that had lived there.
At age four, he was taken to the doctor's office at the Irumu Clinic Facility for a physical evaluation as kids his age do. As they tested him, they had found an unusual anomaly with him. His fifth toe joint should be non-existent and it isn't, yet he still manifested a monkey's tail, the duo having seen it during his infancy.
"Son Mikai and Son Gohan, your son is unusual, even for a boy with a Quirk." The doctor said, clinically, yet a bit surprised at this seeming miracle child.
"Huh, is there something wrong with him, doctor?" Mikai replied, looking a bit worried at her boy.
"Oh, far from it, he's a very healthy boy! One of the best I've seen in all my years as a physician!" the doctor reassured them. "But normal people with Quirks, they usually wouldn't have their second fifth toe joints. As I had told my last patient, he had bad luck and was born without a Quirk, while his father had a fire-breathing Quirk and his mother a levitation Quirk." He had shown them the X-Rays, first of a normal Quirk person, then of Goku's for his demonstration, finally showing the boy's x-rays and between the two boys, they have the same toe joints the Quirk x-ray doesn't.
"Another abnormality I noticed is that none of your Quirks would reasonably go to making your boy into how he is. However, he likely had a mutation in his Quirk Factor. It's very rare, but not unheard of. And considering he had developed well, there's no risks for any health complications, so I can safely rule out any further testing." The couple sighed.
"That's a relief, doc. I was worried about him being bullied in school, since Quirks are becoming so common that being Quirkless is seen as being handicapped," Gohan mused, the doctor nodding with a morose expression.
"Indeed. However, you shouldn't put him in school, because with this boy, his cognitive development has been stunted from a traumatic event. I don't know how badly this event affected him, but to make sure he'll grow into a fine young man, by my recommendation, you two should home-school him. He responds positively in your presence."
"O-oh... I can help with that," Mikai replies, a bit meek. Internally, she felt remorseful, because she was too distracted with the baby and making sure he was well-fed and safe when they spotted him. The doctor spotted this weakness and gave her a reassuring, if slightly stern, look.
"Don't worry, Son Mikai. I am certain you did what you had to do in the moment. As long as you and your husband can teach him effectively, this event won't hamper his cognitive development. I'll let you three go and I hope you have a good day," the doctor said, bowing in thanks for their time.
The three left the office, Goku looking a bit glum.
"Does this mean I'm stupid, Mom and Dad...?" he asked, looking as if he had failed them.
"No, not at all, Goku." Gohan remarked immediately, putting a hand on his son's head, to the latter's irritation. "He just means that you might have more... difficulty in a standardized school setting."
"But as long as your dad and I can teach you, you'll be as smart and kind-hearted as All Might!" Mikai chimed. The young and ever impressionable Goku smiled brightly, as if he had never been told any bad news at all.
"Yeah! I'll be the world's greatest Hero!" The kid cheered on, the two parents smiling happily as they walked out of the clinic.
The years grew out, as Son Gohan and Son Mikai raised a steadily growing Goku, teaching him in their free time, but they soon felt not only was he getting stronger, enough to even give the adult Gohan a bit of trouble, but he was getting distracted during their lessons, restless as he wants to look around Japan. To help him exhaust his seemingly endless pit of energy, as well as to help motivate him to take his studies seriously, he was allowed to take some martial arts classes on the side, starting with Gohan personally training Goku his martial art style. To their surprise, Goku took to fighting immediately, and in addition, he's an absolute savant in the realm of martial arts, easily becoming a star pupil in many martial arts schools!
And thankfully, their promise to give him more martial arts training training paid off in dividends, as Goku was able to learn efficiently and in due time, overcome the initial handicap his head injury had left him. And with Mikai and Gohan's support in helping him develop socially, the young boy became kind and respectful towards his peers, even if they were bullying him about his tail, as Mutation Quirks are seen negatively within some sectors of society. While money was always a bit on the tight end, Gohan's day job as Mochi-Mochi the Rice Hero, in addition to Mikai's part-time stint as a chef, had allowed them to stay afloat even when the boy eats a lot of their money away with his giant appetite.
By Goku's 7th birthday, the boy's initial growth spurt sputtered out, and for a while, even as he aged, his growth could only be measured in inches every few years.
However, one night, in the year 2142, the three were out on a walk in the forest, with the three having sunglasses just above their eyes. As the sun came down and the full moon was rising, they all looked at it in awe, but when Goku saw it, he stood still like a stone statue.
"Goku? What's wrong?" Mikai asked.
No reply. Just a vacant stare at the full moon. Soon, his irises flashed to a ruby red as he started to growl like a gorilla, startling the adults.
"Goku!" Gohan yelled in worry, but it was too late. The otherwise small boy started to grow to a colossal beast, a giant gorilla with an equally impressive, large tail. The beast roars and beats its chest to the moon, the sound echoing for miles on end. Gohan activated his Quirk on instinct, his skin turning white.
"Mikai, run!" he yelled, as they started to run, though the giant ape doesn't even respond to the noise.
It's rampage was limited to the forest they were walking through, the trees being flattened under its feet, and whatever forest creatures lived there, either forced to flee or unfortunately squashed underneath the ape's feet.
But it wasn't too long before a Hero arrived. The man looked like a Samurai of old, complete with a katana to his left hip. The beast looked into his eye, and he looks back into it, as he saw the figure of a child with a tail in the beast's eye. Knowing whatever this thing is isn't destroying on purpose, he closes in on it at astonishing speeds.
The ape tries to slam its hand onto the samurai figure and breathe a blue beam of fire, roaring the entire "fight", but he was too nimble for its attacks to connect, looking as if there was two of him. As soon as he got to the back side, a single slash at the beast's tail was enough to stop its rampage, it roars for one last time as it becomes groggy, before falling over and morphing back into a small boy, with no clothes to speak of. The Samurai puts away his katana and scooped the boy into his arms as he started to approach Gohan and Mikai.
They got out of their hiding spots, shaken by this sudden event. Gohan, for seeing how destructive that thing was, and Mikai, seeing the tailless Goku and assuming the worst-case scenario.
"D-Did you kill him...?" Mikai said, shaking as she saw the unconscious and naked form of Goku in his hands.
"No. He is still alive. However, I am sorry. I had no choice, but to cut off his tail. Otherwise he would have been a threat to Japan," the Hero remarked, looking down at the unconscious child, getting a cloth out to wrap him in.
"W-wait, you wouldn't happen to be Yokoi Musha, right?" Gohan asked, still running on the dissipating fear.
"Indeed I am. However, please don't let this happen again. It will reflect badly on your ranking, Mochi-Mochi." Yokoi said, before he escorted the couple and Goku back to Musutafu.
Despite the incident that would be dubbed The Great Ape Incident, Goku still doted and loved his parents, and they loved him back. However, that incident awakened a well of energy within Goku. He felt it ebb and flow everywhere, especially within himself, but he cannot call upon it freely. It frustrates him to no end, but he'll just have to bite his tongue until he can feel that energy come to him, if he can ever call it back.
More years come and go, as inspired by Yokoi's heroics, Goku moonlit as a Vigilante and stopped petty Villains when his parents were off in bed, as Gohan was only active during the day hours. His speed and strength were enough that the most he would get are bruises, and that no one would know it was him. The only truly hairy encounter the young boy had was with a man in black with goggles on, and yet he felt the Hero's glare on him, though before the man could capture him with his scarf, Goku was able to dodge the cloth-like tendrils and flee. Another encounter saw him getting a close call from being spotted by an absolutely giant man with blubber akin to an elephant walrus. Throughout the Underground Hero and Vigilante scenes, tall tales popped up about the Vigilante, Kid Kong: a super strong and fast kid who had a Quirk resembling that of the No. 1 Hero: All Might.
Gohan, finally having caught wind of the Vigilante tales and realizing just who "Kid Kong" was, Gohan was angry.
"This kind of behavior is unacceptable, Son Goku. Now, I will give you a choice. Either you will disregard your vigilantism entirely and focus on the martial arts, or you can continue on this needlessly dangerous path and completely disregard your martial arts training. Permanently." Gohan said in a restrained tone.
"Y-Yikes! I'll stop being a vigilante!" Goku responded quickly, scared out of his wits as his father glared. He sighed in relief.
"Good. However, I'll give you something so that you won't go behind my back again. It'll make you much stronger than being a Vigilante, I know it."
HIFL has no fury like a calm person being forced to act. Gohan used his Hero connections to gift Goku his first set of weighted wristbands and anklets. They weighed in at 20kg each, and despite the initial struggle to walk around in that get-up, the young boy took it well. The challenge was to keep it on 24/7, except during baths.
At the age of 11, the young Goku's tail mysteriously came back one night. To the two parents, this was weird, but to the young boy, he had realized what this meant. He cannot grow as a Hero if he transforms into that monster and loses control again. That brown, bushy tail and the moonlight was why he almost killed his parents by accident, and he refuses to allow it to happen again.
"Dad, can we go to the forest?" Goku asked.
"That's not a problem, my son. Though I have to ask, why is your tail back?" Gohan replied, Goku looking a bit glum.
"I need to train myself to control that giant monster," Goku said, a bit bleak. "Without that tail, I haven't turned into it, even when my eyes hit the full moon. More over, my tail is super sensitive. If there's enough pressure on my tail, I can't move at all, which could be enough to stop my transformation! And I have no doubt you're strong enough, Dad!"
"...That is incredibly risky, Goku. Not only for you, but for my career. However, if there's a chance you can control that giant form, then I will help you however I can." Gohan spoke, patting his son on the back reassuringly. The monkey boy smiled gently, his tail swaying gently.
With Mikai being told of the situation, she allowed the two to train on the condition Goku comes back alive, unsure if Yokoi will be merciful towards Goku this time around.
And so began the hardest training the young Goku had to endure started over the course of three years. With Gohan nearby, Goku started to meditate. He had felt as if everything was breathing, everything had a gentle sway, he even was able to start feeling the presence of other people with extreme focus. Experimentally, Goku had open his eyes up to the full-moon, shining brilliantly. Of course, he was still as a statue at first, and his coarse breathing returned.
"Goku, remember to keep calm. Empty your mind and don't let your rage consume you," Gohan reassured his son. However, his breathing got more rapid and he started to growl.
But before he could start his transformation, he felt a sharp tinge in his tail. His father gripped the tail, weakening his boy as he fell face-first. While a bit saddened about this failure, the duo continued to train.
Compared to Martial Arts, this was an absolute nightmare. Not only was his tail growing stronger, but the progress made to control the Great Ape Form itself was barely enough, though the initial transformation gave the boy a roadmap towards where he can eventually find himself even by an accidental transformation. However, to the pair's relief, when Goku did fully transform into a Great Ape, the giant form had started to retain enough of Goku's personality to where he doesn't even growl or roar when he transforms. There's now enough control within the boy that the ape is now safe to come out, given it's in a forest and not a city and there's a Gohan near him to calm him down.
"Dad! I did it! I'm a giant ape and I'm not mindless!" Goku whooped in excitement, his booming voice echoing, stomping in excitement, though Gohan had to dodge the stomping.
"Shh, sh sh sh... I'm proud of you, Goku, but please be quiet," Gohan whispered, the giant ape scratching the back of his head and chuckling. "That is great progress, Goku. I am so proud of you, for everything that you've done!"
It took nearly three years of constant meditation, moon gazing, and emergency grabs, but at the end of it, Goku had enough control over the Ape form to where he is able to not mindlessly destroy everything around him. It was still far from true control, however, he is not going to be destroying cities and killing anyone recklessly, and with that, the two stared at the moon for the night.
During the daytime, Goku still lived as the little boy with the monkey's tail. By his 14th birthday, he was absolutely doll-sized compared to actual twelve year olds, even tiny compared to the nine year olds. But it was then that Goku started to experience another growth spurt. Instead of a few inches per year, he started to grow a few inches per month, as his body started to mature into that of an adult over the coming years.
By the age of 13, it was impossible for him to learn any new martial arts that he doesn't already know involving hand-to-hand on the island nation. To make up for it, he started taking bojutsu classes, an interesting character being a girl roughly his age with a ponytail, eyes as sharp as a hawk's and height dwarfing the monkey boy.
"Alright. Yaoyorozu, you are up against Son. Keep steady and wait for my signal," the bojitsu sensei ordered, as the two faced off. "First one to be knocked out of the ring or pinned down will be declared the winner."
As they gazed into one another, her looking downwards and he looking upwards, they both concentrated.
"Begin!"
The action started immediately. With Goku, he was acrobatic and had the strength to back up his strikes, but the girl, who he simply remembered as "Yaoyorozu", was more analytical, more steady in her posture and movement. However, the difference was that the Saiyan only had a few weeks of bojitsu training. The girl? More than two years. He was prodigious, for certain, but those years of refinement over her classmate made all the difference as Yaoyorozu was able to pin Goku down with her bo with no attacks against her landing.
"Great job as usual, Yaoyorozu," The sensei said, pleased, then he looked over to Goku. "You still have much to learn, Son. However, you're definitely something different."
"Apologies, Son, but you need to be more focused if you want to beat me," Yaoyorozu said as she offered a hand to her downed opponent. However, she was weirded out by seeing how much Goku was laughing, before he grabbed her hand and got pulled up.
"That was awesome! I got to learn more bojitsu if I'm going to spar with you again!" the Saiyan was jovial.
What a weird kid, she thought to herself. Though at least the kid was spirited enough about it. In a few weeks, however, the boy had disappeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Considering how expensive bojitsu training is, she shrugged and continued her path of training. That jovial vibe he had, however, stuck with her.
Around the time of his 15th birthday, Goku had grown up enough that he barely resembled the pint-sized child his parents had seen, but instead was startlingly close to his adult form, maybe a few more years and he'll become truly grown up! He and his parents soon went to UA to register their child in the Hero Course, as Goku started training more intensely, or as much as he can without arousing too much attention. One more visit to Takobah revealed to the boy the No. 1 Hero, alongside a lean boy with green hair doing community service on the beach. However, he did not want to disturb either of them, despite all the endurance training the trash would have provided him and left. His accidental interlope had not escaped the buff Hero's vision, having felt a presence nearly like his own from the boy, but it was neither here nor there. What was important was that his protégé would train himself up into the position where he could become the next in line, the next No. 1 Hero when he eventually will not be there for Japan. A new beacon of hope, a new Hero for a new age.
Author's Notes: I do actually have quite a bit of writing in this entire fanfic, though I'm editing it on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Also, reading through other fanfics and seeing exactly how they do their styles is something I am doing. Mostly because it gives me a different perspective and biases. If there are things I can improve upon, please let me know. By the time this is out, I'll likely have Chapter 2 out.
Original The Characters Introduced:
Son Gohan. Age: 24. (39 in the Present Day) Profession: Pro Hero. Alias: The Rice Hero Mochi-Mochi. Quirk: Sticky Rice. Standing at 1.82m and weighing 95.5kg, Gohan is a small-time Pro Hero, known for his sticky rice skin Quirk allowing him to easily apprehend melee specialists, granted they don't pack knives or guns on their person. In order for the Quirk to work, Gohan requires a kilogram of rice over the course of three days, having trained it from needing a kilogram of rice every day. On his off-time, he's a bookworm, reading about old stories from millennia ago. While homeschooling Goku, Gohan was responsible for teaching him about the basic Hero protocols, physical education, and literature.
Son Mikai. Age: 21. (36 in the Present Day) Profession: Chef. Quirk: Citrus Oils. At 1.72m and weighing in at 70.2kg, Mikai met Gohan while he was on lunch break. Later that day, she was being mugged by a knife-wielding Quirk user. Despite the chest slashes against him, Gohan had rescued Mikai, and from there, they started to date and form their relationship. A year later, they officially married, a certain Bakugou was the bridesmaid at the wedding. Her citrus oils embed within anything she wills, calming the nerves of anyone who consumes foodstuffs with said oils in their foods. She was in charge of teaching mathematics, social cues, and science to her adoptive son.
And yes, I don't know if there's an official name for the place the four year old Midoriya went to, but in case there's no suitable name, I gave it the name of Irumu, after the planet Ilum, famous in Star Wars lore for being a place where the new Jedi are born by grabbing their kyber crystals. And I'd imagine it would be a bog standard clinic more than a hospital.
