A/N: Second fic baby! Mister Turquoise "I don't feel so good" Monarch is back!
So, "What the hell is this shit!?" you ask. Well… I, being a straight guy, unironically like shoujo. Be it Manhwa, Manga, Novels, Anime etc.
So I had this Idea: What if… here me out, I put the fate crew in a shoujo oriented world, while retaining their shounen traits?
Sounds good? Heh? No?
So I created my own world to put them to, this was loosely inspired by kfpisnotacult's "A World of Swords" Being that I created my own isekai world, great writer I might say, you should check them out! Without further ado! Let the shitshow start!
6: 00 PM, Emiya Household: 2 years after the Holy Grail War
"O-Onii-chan" the girl called her brother, resting in a futon, barely holding onto life.
"Y-yes Illya?" A red haired individual answered, holding her hands firmly, at the verge of crying.
"Can you please call everyone?" She requested one last time.
"Hm?"
"Rin and Sakura, even Taiga and Grandpa Raiga…" the child of winter elaborated.
"O-of course! Let me call them, they're at the living room." He stands up in a hurry. "Just wait there, okay?" He gets out of the room, not even bothering to close the door.
On his way to the living room, Shirou contemplated what had transpired in this two years following the end of the war. Due to the modifications that the Einzberns did to his sister her lifespan was shortened significantly.
Rin estimates that Illya only has one year left, but due to Saber's residual mana that remained on Avalon, her estimated end was extended by a year. But Shirou knows… no, everyone knows that Avalon will eventually run out of Saber's mana and the healing effect that prevents the deterioration would weaken or cease altogether.
They tried everything to find a solution. Rin enrolled into the Clock tower in order to build connections and eventually find someone that could help Illya. Shirou even took up freelancing as a mage for the same reason. Sakura remained to take care of her, Taiga, being the bundle of chaos that she is, tries to cheer her up every day. Of course she doesn't know that Illya's illness is magical in nature, they explained that it was a hereditary disease that was also the reason of Kiritsugu's late wife's passing.
Old Man Raiga however, was very saddened by the news and sends her gifts, particularly sweets and and video games. One of it was an Otome game that she plays arguably too much. She liked it very much because: "One of the capture targets resembles Onii-chan!"
"heh…" Shirou chuckles at the thought.
'Of course I can't forget about the big thing.' Said big thing was the dismantling of the grail system altogether with the help of Lord El-Melloi II, one of Rin's professors and a victim of the fourth grail war. Using his knowledge at tracking mana residues, they systematically dismembered the grail system, even damaging leylines as a sacrifice.
They had help in actually destroying it of course. One Kishcur Zelretch volunteered for the task saying: "Nagato's project didn't bare any fruit, it certainly caused more harm than benefit. I suppose, I supported them in this endeavour, I might as well end it myself."
After that Sakura suddenly vomited a creature, a worm to be precise. Zelretch recognized the creature immediately. It was Zouken Matou, or Zolgen Makiri as the Old Man of Jewels pointed out.
"Justeaze… Oh Justeaze forgive me, I was distracted… Please, just one more chance, I'll reach you… I'll reach heaven eventually, oh Justeaze, dear Justeaze." The worm muttered as Zelretch crushed it with his walking cane. "That should take care him, the damaged leylines would cut off his access to his specialized familiars and render them useless. Now I have theory on why he came out of the young lady." He approached Sakura and touched her belly, Sakura yelped in response.
"Fassen!" He shouted an aria for structural analysis, he found what he was expecting. "Hmmm, crest worms. Oh how far have you fallen, Zolgen." The Ancestor observed more and was relieved that they were dead. "Now, young lady. Would you care to explain what happened to you?" He daringly asked.
Sakura was reluctant to explain anything at first, but after requesting privacy from Zelretch she explains everything to her senpai and her sister. Oh he forgot to mention that Sakura was actually a Tohsaka, given to the Matou for 'education'.
The things that Sakura explained to them were nothing short of horrific, Rin even broke down at one point and hugged Sakura tightly and never let go for thirty minutes straight. While Shirou was blaming himself for not noticing Sakura's situation and proceeded to stand at the corner of the room, thoughts of regret and self-hate coursing through his head. Eventually everything got back to normal, or at least as normal as the world of magi can be.
Now the time has come to say goodbye to Illya, they knew that she wouldn't last very long and if Lord El-Melloi II's new estimate is to be trusted, this is the exact day that Illya's internal functions would fail.
He finally arrived at the living room, he saw Taiga being as cheerful as ever sitting next to Old Man Raiga, who was amused by his granddaughter's antics. Sitting across the table was Rin, wearing an annoyed expression and Sakura sitting beside her, trying to calm down Taiga.
They stopped and looked at Shirou.
"Emiya-kun? What are you doing here? What about Illyasviel?" Rin spoke first.
Shirou was reluctant to deliver Illya's request at first, knowing the implications of such request. But he eventually gave in and spoke. "T-Tohsaka, it's time. She says that she needs everyone to come to her room." Shirou delivered in a shaky voice.
Rin narrows her eyes. "Then, let's go." She stands up and tidies her skirt. "Come Sakura." She says in a serious tone. "The midget needs us."
"Yes, nee-san." Sakura nods and joins Rin.
Before they took one step to the direction of Illya's room, Shirou stopped them. He then faced Taiga and Raiga. "That includes you Fuji-nee, you as well Raiga."
Raiga stands up while also signalling Taiga to calm down. "Hmmm, it seems that Illyasviel calls for her favourite grandpa…" Raiga says closing his eyes.
Taiga looks at Shirou with a worried expression. "Shirou… are you-"
"I don't know, okay!" Shirou yells, then he looks down with pained expression, not being able to bring himself to look everyone in the eye.
Taiga pursed her lips and nodded.
They walked to Illya's room in total silence. Finally they arrived. Illya looks at them from the futon then smiles.
"So… everyone is here." She says in a somber tone. "Come, sit beside me. Shirou, you hold my hand."
Shirou notices that she did not call him 'Onii-chan' anymore. Shirou sits and holds her hands.
"Illya-"
"Shush! You'll get your turn last." She cuts off Shirou. Shirou lets out a pained chuckle from this.
She then looks at Rin. "Rin Tohsaka, Miss Flatboard."
An angry vein pops up in Rin's head. "Like you're one to talk!"
"Hehe~" This elicits a laugh. "Please take care of my Onii-chan, he's hopeless without the people around him, teach him some self-preservation please."
"Hmph, of course, without me, this suicidal idiot would've been ran over buy a truck or something." Rin says with a smug smile.
Sakura was next. "Illya-chan…"
"Sakura-san… Would you please confess already!?" Illya said in an irritated tone.
"C-c-confess!?" Sakura waves her hands in defence. "I a-already did…"
"And?" Illya asked with a raised eyebrow.
"He said that he would keep searching for Saber, he said that he cannot answer my love." Sakura answered, oddly smiling.
"And you're okay with that?"
"Yes, as long as I'm with Senpai, that is enough." The purple haired girl nodded.
Illya then looks at Taiga. "Taiga…"
"Illya-chan"
"Taiga…"
"Illya-chan"
"Taiga…"
"Illya-chan"
"Taiga…"
"Illya-cha-"
"Stop!"
"Taiga… Please, stop being nuisance to Shirou anymore. Get a boyfriend or something." Illya says with a grin.
Taiga's eyes widen, then she smirks. "Uhm, actually I've got this co-worker at school, we planned a date this Saturday, wait... I can still eat Shirou's food right!?"
Illya's grin was suddenly erased, she lets out a heavy sigh. "Guess I can't stop you, whatever floats your boat I guess." She shrugs.
Now, it's Old Man Raiga's turn.
"Grandpa Raiga…" She tears up.
"Yes, Illya?" Raiga answered.
"Th-thank you, for everything, thank you for being the best grandpa for me, thank you for receiving Kiritsugu when he arrived here, thank you, thank you, thank you!" She repeats herself while crying.
"Now, now, don't cry. Grandpa would be sad if you cry." Raiga says while caressing her head.
"Now, Shirou." She looks at the said person with a smile and tired eyes.
"Hm?"
"I… I had dream last night, I met mama here, and she said something to me, I cannot quite remember." She said at Shirou.
"Uhm, oh! Some say that, i-if people slept while thinking of a specific dream, the dream would continue!" Shirou stutters, trying to cheer up his sister.
"Heh~ Silly Onii-chan, dreams don't work like that. Please practice lying sometimes, that might help you in the future." She yawns loudly. "Shirou, I'm getting sleepy."
"I know Illya, I know." Shirou squeezes her tiny hands gently.
"Goodnight Shirou, big sis is gonna sleep." She closes her eyes, no one but the mages heard her.
"Yes, Illya sweet dreams."
"Thank you, and sorry I lied earlier, I remember what Mama told me. She said that after this we're gonna meet again sometime in the future. I hope it's true."
"It will be Illya, it will be." Shirou spoke, barely holding his tears.
"Can you please call me correctly this time around?" The child of winter said in a sleepy voice.
"Okay, Goodnight… Nee-san." He kissed her forehead…
He holds her cold body as the breath of life leaves it. It took a moment for everyone to process everything.
Then the floodgates opened.
Shirou hugs Illya and cries as the supressed tears are finally released, Taiga hugs Shirou in an attempt to comfort him. Rin and Sakura hug each other as they cry the loss of their friend. Raiga however, stood stoically and spoke. "I will call the funeral services." The old man gets out of the room.
Taiga saw through the apathetic façade, because as soon as he gets out of sight she heard a crack, probably something getting punched. She knew her grandfather, he just can't handle Illya's loss, she is like the second granddaughter of the family.
(Days Later…)
Illya's funeral was over, family and friends attended. Even some of Shirou's former schoolmates were there. Issei Ryoudo, a friend of Shirou gave the last rites, being a Buddhist monk himself. They cremated her body and buried the ashes at the Fuyuki graveyard.
Shirou, Sakura, and Rin prepared to go to London. With Illya gone, no one would hold them back from leaving Fuyuki. Rin declared Sakura her apprentice in order for her to enter the Clock tower. Shirou said that he would continue searching for Avalon, Rin and Sakura supported him at the promise that he would not lose himself in the process.
After saying goodbye to their family and friends, they left Fuyuki with a hopeful smile. Nobody knows what fates await them, but may it be happiness or tragedy they would stand tall and overcome whatever fate throws at them.
10:00 AM, ????, Castle hallway.
Run…
Run…
RUN!
That is all that the young prince could think of at the moment. He ran inside the castle with a baby in hand.
'Why is this happening!?' He thought in a panic, his royal clothes were in tatters as the result of escaping enemy soldiers. His red hair unkempt, yellow eyes trembling in fear. 'A revolt, why?'
He questioned as he ran clutching his little sister, corpses of enemy soldiers and their own lying around them, blood painted the marble like walls of their castle. But suddenly they were blocked by a man. The twelve year old drew his sword. He knew this man, Gruff looking face with a scar on his nose, unkempt black hair running through his shoulders.
'Blue shield, an eagle preying on a snake, that insignia!" He gripped his sword tighter with his, pointing it at the man. "Why are you doing this!?"
"Hehehehehe…" The man approached them with maddened laugh.
"Duke Gremsville!" He asked in a rage-filled tone.
"Red hair, one of his spawns. How lucky of me!" the man swung his sword at the prince.
The prince dodged the swing, his training not failing him. "Ah!"
"Hoho~? You dodged it?" The now identified duke smiled maniacally.
"Hyaaah!" The boy retaliated, stabbing his sword at the duke. "Die-! Hwa!?" the sword was deflected by the duke's own, it was thrown out of his hand.
"Hnn-!" He was lifted through his neck, his grip to his sister weakened, and eventually let go of her. "Y-you!" he glared.
"There is no hope for you boy, your dear father is dead, your soldiers are no match for me, and you are but a mere little boy, too weak to even protect himself." The dark man taunted.
"Father? D…dead? You're lying!" The red haired prince spat barely being able to breath, not believing a single word.
"Oh but I am not." The duke pulled a medallion out of his pocket, it has the king's insignia. A golden lion roaring proudly, with a sun on its back.
"I-it can't be!" The prince stuttered, it has to be a lie he thought.
"Do you believe me now? Surrender now, and I would spare both of your lives." Gremsville offered.
"Over my dead body!"
"Dead body you say?" Duke Gremsville readied his sword. "Then die!"
"Ugh-!" He stabbed the prince through the heart, his sword piercing even the back. The duke let go of the prince, dropping him on the floor.
"Hmmm." The duke looked around. As if searching for something. "Ah." He found what he was searching for. It was the princess, named Elise, a new-born baby with white hair and red eyes. "I might get a use out of you." He lifted the baby, the baby cried, he did not care.
He walked away from the presumed dead prince, into the throne room. Baby in hand.
"No… Elise, let go of her…" The prince whispered, not being heard from such distance.
Then suddenly, the baby's body glowed. "Wha-!?" the duke stumbled. The princess started crying louder, with each octave she glows brighter. "It can't be! They said it was lost!" he threw the baby due to shock. He turned around, he was shocked by what he saw. The prince was… standing, wounds healed as if it were never there to begin with.
"Elise… Elise… El-… ILLYAAAAA!" The boy ran with superhuman speed, cracking the floor in the process.
"Damn you!" The dark haired man yelled, he readies his sword. The prince was approaching him with bare fists he couldn't possibly-
"Trace on!" a sword appeared in his hand, surprising the duke.
"Magic!?"
"Hyaaaaah!!" The boy swung his sword, his opponent tried to deflect the blow. But to the duke's surprise, the boy broke the duke's sword. The prince followed it up with a stab directed at the duke's chest.
Duke Gremsville tried to catch the boy's hand, but he was met with a devastating kick in the jaw. His speed was outstanding, even surpassing the best knights of the kingdom. "Impossi-"
Before he could utter his last words the world suddenly turned upside down. He felt cold, he couldn't feel his body. Just then, he realized, his head was severed, then everything turned black.
The prince however, let go of his sword to pick up the baby. "Oh, thank the Gods you're unharmed." The now exhausted prince picks up the severed head of the duke. "I… need to go to the throne room."
He soon arrived at the throne room minutes later, baby in his right hand and severed head at his left. He saw rebel soldiers and the royal knights fighting, one of the knights, Sir Harold is his name as he remembered, he's the captain of the royal guard.
The knight notices the boy. "Your highness! Are you alright?" the knight inquired.
"Nevermind me, what of my father?" The prince asked with a neutral tone.
The Knight looks down, words won't come out his mouth. The prince then spoke again "I know that he is no more, what I'm asking is, is his body somewhere safe right now?"
"Yes milord… he's at his bed chambers, protected by knights for his proper burial." Sir Harold answered, still looking away from the prince, regret in his tone.
"Then… I'm glad." He replied somberly.
He faced the knights and the rebels. "Hear me!" Heads turned towards him, a shocked expression in their faces. He lifted his left hand and showed… "This! This is the head of the rebel scum that dared to oppose my father! Gaze at its abhorrent face as you realize the futility of this rebellion!"
The rebels were shocked and demoralized, their weapons hit the floor as one by one they surrendered. The royal knights tied them up and sent them to the dungeons.
The prince stood in front of the knights that fought inside and outside the castle, there were over a hundred of them. The prince stood in front of the throne, a regal posture in his being, still holding the Princess Elise. "Knights that serve my great father's kingdom! Do you recognize me as your King!?" He roared, voice as fierce as a lion.
"Yes! Your Majesty!" The whole room roared in affirmation, their voices echoing outside the castle.
"Then, deliver this news to every citizen of the kingdom: "Artorius Isaiah Meriallis III, successor to King Artorius Isaiah Meriallis II, has worn the crown as your new king, and you shall serve him with all your heart and soul!"" He ordered.
"As you order Your Majesty!" They obliged.
Artorius sat at the throne, seeking its comfort. Only to find out that there is none. "Heh, father used to sit on this all day? No wonder his back hurts!" He looked at his sister. "You're a brave girl Elise. You never even cried when I was shouting." He said fondly. "Haaah… I'm gonna cook up something when I get up… why did I say that?" He then lost consciousness due to exhaustion.
7:00 AM, Antaria Royal Castle, 5 years later.
Artorius walks his way to the throne room, he wore blue royal clothes fitting for a king, it donned the symbol of the royal family, the golden lion. It has been years since he remembered his last life as Shirou Emiya, he even started calling himself by the name. The young king has his knights beside him.
As he walks he hears the everyday gossip of the servants. "Hey did you know, the King cooks his own food due to paranoia." A maid whispered to their colleague. "Wait, really? I also heard that he cleans the Princess' bed chambers as a way to find assassins!" The other one answered.
"Heh…" he chuckles at the misunderstanding. No he doesn't cook his own food to avoid poisoning, No, he doesn't clean rooms to find assassins. It was just a hobby, a way to calm his nerves after dealing with pompous nobles offering their daughters and sons as marriage partners for both of him and his sister.
Speaking of his sister, she awaits at the throne room for him.
White hair curled up into twintails, red eyes darker than ruby. She wore a purple dress and a tiara.
"Good morning big brother…" The girl bowed politely.
"Good morning Elise." He replied with a kind smile. He sat at the throne.
"Illya?" He called his sister once more.
"Yes!?" The girl jolted at the name.
"Call me 'Onii-chan'." He said fondly.
"Okay… Onii-chan." She smiles.
A/N: So, what do you think? Great start I might say!
(The name Artorius has some implictaions, hehe)
