A/N Percy's telling this one, as it's a Percy-centric story.
Hey, it's me, Percy. This is a story about when Daisy was new to Sodor and I got in a predicament.
Daisy the Diesel Rail-car's work in the countryside was full of surprises. But she was frightened of bulls and cows and remained very lazy and stubborn. One day, Toby brought Henrietta up to the station where I was grumpily shunting.
"Hello, Percy. I see Daisy's left the milk van behind again."
"I'll have to make a special journey with it, I suppose. Anyone would think I've nothing to do," I grumbled. I was cross with that lazy Daisy.
"Tell you what?" replied Toby. "I'll take the milk. You fetch my freight cars.".
Our drivers and the stationmaster agreed. I had never been to the quarry before. I began ordering the freight cars about.
"Hurry along," I said.
The freight cars grumbled to each other. "This is Toby's place! Percy's got no right to push his funnel in here and push us around.". They whispered and passed the word, "Pay Percy out! Pay Percy out!".
"Come along," I puffed. "No nonsense."
"We'll give him nonsense," giggled the freight cars. But they followed so quietly I thought they were under control. Suddenly, they saw a notice ahead, All Trains Stop To Pin Down Their Brakes. Those Troublesome Trucks were bothering me when I was already cross.
"Peep peep! Brakes, conductor, please!"
But before he could check them, the freight cars surged ahead.
"On! on!" they cried.
"Help! Help!" I whistled.
The man on duty at the crossing rushed to warn traffic with his red flag, but it was too late to switch me to the runaway sidings. Frantically trying to grip the rails, I slid into the yard. I was quite upset.
"Peep peep! Look out!" I crashed into the brake-van.
The brake van was in smithereens. Driver and my fireman had jumped clear, but I was stranded. Next day, Sir Topham Hatt arrived. Toby and Daisy helped to clear the wreckage, but I remained on my perch of freight cars.
"We must now try," said Sir Topham Hatt. "to run a branch line with Toby and a diesel. You have put us in an awkward predicament."
"I am sorry, sir" I felt bad about what had happened, whether it was my fault or those Troublesome Trucks.
"You must stay here till we are ready," continued Sir Topham Hatt. "And you really must be more careful with freight cars."
I sighed. The cars groaned beneath my wheels. I quite understood about awkward predicaments. Sir Topham Hatt spoked serverely to Daisy, too.
"My engines work hard. I send lazy engines away.".
Daisy was ashamed. I guess, wherever she came from, they didn't teach her how to be a Really Useful Engine.
"However, Toby says you worked hard after Percy's accident. So you shall have another chance.".
"Thank you, sir," said Daisy. I will work hard. Toby says he'll help me."
"Excellent. What Toby doesn't know about branch line problems isn't worth knowing. But our Toby's an experienced engine.". I heard about this later, from my friends.
Next day, Thomas came back, and I was sent to be mended. Annie and Clarabel were delighted to see Thomas again and he took them to a run at once. He told about that after I was mended. All us engines were now friends and Toby has taught Daisy a great deal. She'd shooed a cow the other day all by herself. That shows you, doesn't it?
A/N With a Railway Series story, I may restore the TRS wording, if it was tweaked for my country's dub. Respect my wording. I'm not British, they are.
