Chapter six:
Leo tries to figure out where to start in telling their brothers the possible plan. "It's not something we have figured out fully for sure." He admits as he shifts a little.
Raph lets out a slight huff and takes over. "It's my idea. I am thinking about taking Leo to live at the Farmhouse instead." He explains it more bluntly. "It's not for one hundred precent sure it'll be what we do. But it's something I'm seriously considering."
Leo feels worry as these words leave their brothers quiet. He starts to wonder if they're going to be angry at the idea, maybe they'll resent them for even thinking about leaving them. He starts to wonder if this really is a good idea at all.
Mikey is the first to break the silence. "That's a wonderful idea!" His words get a sound of agreement from Donnie.
Leo pauses in surprise at the agreement to the idea. "You think it is?"
"Of course!" Mikey approaches and puts an arm around Leo only making him slightly jump. "Sorry. Anyways, there's not much you can do here. And the two of us were talking about how you'll be stuck in the lair. At the farmhouse however you can have more freedom! We may be ninjas protecting the city. However we're family first. We look out for each other before anything else."
Donnie clears his throat probably noticing that Mikey might end up going on and on. "We can even set up the farmhouse so it'll be easier for you. I read that someone, who travels a lot with her husband since she's mostly blind, has a special wind chimes to be able to find their way back to their camper. Plus there's a few other navigation things I am working on. So it can be made to fit your new situation."
Leo does relax not even having noticed that he had been so tense. "I'm glad to hear that." He mentions and he swears he can feel smiles sent in his direction. He brushes it off as that he knows how his brothers would react to his words.
"Just let us know when you two figure things out for sure. We'll get some things ready in the meantime." Donnie mentions and Leo can hear him head off, probably to his lab.
"Indeed keep us updated!" Mikey hurries off as well though Leo can't even guess where he went.
That leaves Leo and Raph sitting alone together.
"So..." Raph suddenly sounds closer as if he has turned to Leo. "Want to confirm for sure that we're doing this? We can set up a time frame for when we'll go to live there." He offers and Leo can't help casting a smile at him... Or at least he hopes it's in his direction.
"I'd love to." Leo agrees and he can imagine the huge grin on Raphs face right now.
"Alright. How much time do you think you would need to be ready to go to the farmhouse?" Raph inquires and Leo ponders it only for a brief moment.
"A few days probably. Just make sure that we get everything we need or want." Leo tells Raph. "Plus I want to let Donnie make sure we have those things he's gonna make to help us."
"Alright. We can do that." Raph agrees to this. "Do you want help packing up your stuff?"
Leo nods so Raph gently helps him up holding his hand then they head off. He would do it himself though he knows it'd be pretty hard without his sight. So he does appreciate Raphs help.
They get into the room as the door is heard being opened.
"Alright. Tell me where you want to start." Raph tells Leo who nods softly.
"Okay. Could you start with any weapons in here? I think that might be a bit dangerous for me now."
"Sure thing." Raph sounds assuring then he heads to start grabbing any katanas or other weapons.
Leo turns his attention to try to find some boxes he usually hides by his bed. He pulls out one and gently feels the inside to determine which one it is. He feels something soft and he realizes what it is. He hadn't told anyone about this and kept his things hidden in a box instead. He tries to figure out how he can keep this hidden.
"Hey Leo." Raphs voice makes Leo jump. "Huh? What's in there?" He sounds to be right behind Leo.
Leo tries to cover the box a little. "Nothing." He tells the other trying to not blush.
Raph is silent for a moment then he speaks. "Aw come on Leo. You don't need to hide anything." He encourages and Leo hesitates a moment.
"It's stupid." Leo mumbles though he can just tell that Raph still caught it.
"So what? We all know of your obsession with Space Heroes." Raph points out and Leo lets out a breath before backing off.
"Just don't laugh."
"I won't." Raph assures him clearly very curious now.
Leo sits there waiting to see if Raph can see what's in there. He did feel the hoodie on top and the pattern is facing upwards.
There is a pause before Raph speaks again. "Heh. Guess it fits with the fact you like Space Heroes." He barely holds back a tiny chuckle.
"You said you wouldn't laugh!" Leo gets a little defensive out of embarrassment.
"Okay! Okay! I did. Sorry!" Raph lightly punches Leo's shoulder. "You want to love unicorns then that's fine. Oh. Right. Should I put this tiny model katanas with the others?" He must have remembered why he had come over to Leo in the first place.
"Yeah. Just on top. They should be fine." Leo feels a breath of relief that everything is okay.
"Cool. When we're alone in the Farmhouse you gotta show me that sweater. Bet it'll make you look fucking cute." Raph lightly teases as his footsteps move away from Leo.
Leo still can't help a smile and his cheeks heating up at Raphs comment. "Yeah." He agrees a little quietly. "Maybe I'll show you then if you think it'd be possibly cute." He adds that part mainly for himself. He pushes away thoughts of letting Raph know how he feels. He doesn't even know if Raph feels the same, plus it wouldn't be fair for Raph to have a blind mate who can no longer visually appreciate his handsome looks. He feels like Raph is already doing enough, moving away to the farmhouse to help Leo himself have a better life compared to here. He works on trying to find more things to gather. He still has work to do in order to get ready to leave for the farmhouse.
The two work for a good while until Mikey calls that foods ready.
Leo hadn't noticed the time go by.
"Let's get some food." Raph suggests with his footsteps sounding like they're coming closer. "Come on. It'll be a nice break. There isn't a rush to getting it done."
Leo nods his head to this and he gets an idea. "Can I try to follow the sounds of your footsteps?"
Raph makes a small confused noise. "Uh yeah sure." He walks ahead making sure that his footsteps do make plenty of noise. His gaze can be felt by Leo.
Leo focuses on the sound and he walks cautiously following, trying to not trip as he goes.
Raph doesn't go too far ahead and if Leo needs to catch up he stops. He'll stomp his foot so Leo has a reference sound.
Leo keeps following and starts to feel pride as he is getting there. He knows it's a little slower than Raph leading him, but it feels like a victory.
"Raph what are you doing?" Mikey questions as Raph stomps his foot. "Oh." He quickly sounds like he understands as Leo follows the noise.
"Clever." Donnie hums as if a little impressed.
"Heh. He got here just following the sounds I made." Raph chuckles putting an arm around Leo, who did hear him get a little closer, and he clearly must be smiling.
"Yay! That's wonderful!" Mikey cheers happily at hearing this.
"It's also good practice for following sounds. Like the wind chimes I have been working on so they'll have their own unique sound." Donnie mentions as Raph at least helps Leo sit down in a chair.
Leo can smell the delicious smell of Mikey's cooking. "It smells so good." He mentions hearing what's most likely a plate slide closer to him.
"I would hope so. Or I might have to give up my title of the family cook." Mikey mentions causing Raph to snort, while Leo chuckles.
Leo tries to eat having a little trouble before Raph helps him.
"It's okay. It'll be some practice for when we're at the Farmhouse. Plus we can work on you feeding yourself." Raph assures Leo.
Leo hopes that he'll soon be able to feed himself, feeling like a baby as he needs help being fed.
