Author's Note: I'm not sure why, but I kept picturing Epic Rap Battles of History's Romeo and Juliet vs Bonnie and Clyde video as I was writing this chapter with Eliza and Chubby as Romeo and Juliet and Devon and Ace as Bonnie and Clyde.
"WE OBJECT!"
Everyone who was able to turn to look toward the doors to the cafeteria as they were blown open.
"I know that voice…," Deuce said.
"I'm saved!" Idia cried with a relieved smile.
Ace, Devon, and Grim flew into the cafeteria on the Ramshackle staff as a chorus of affronted gasps echoed from the ghosts in attendance. The guards readied themselves to move in as the trio hopped down to the ground just before reaching Eliza and Idia, Devon's staff reverting to its usual size.
"Phew. Looks like we made it just in the nick of time, huh," Ace said to Devon and Grim. "Good thing Zephyr kicked it into overdrive."
"Speak for yourself," Grim groaned, hiccupping out a small fireball. "Who knew breaking the sound barrier could be so tough on the stomach?"
"Who are you? What do you three want here?" Eliza demanded. She looked them over, her eyebrows knitting together in concern as she recalled the guard's earlier warning. "Wait… A boy with a heart on his face, a girl with blue curly hair, and a fire-breathing cat… You're with that group of wedding crashers, aren't you?" She glared at them, raising her hand as if she was about to try to freeze them with a slap. "How dare you and your cohorts try to ruin my special day!"
"And what's so special about it?!" Ace countered. "All you've been doing is steamrolling over everyone else to get what you want!" He pulled the box containing the Severance Ring from his pocket (each wave of suitors had been given one by Sam). "Look. It's been a very long day and I've had it with you and the rest of your ghost invaders. So shut up and hold still so I can put this dumb ring on your finger and send you packin' to the other side once and for all!"
"You won't lay a single hand on the princess!" Chubby shouted as he and several other guards moved to get between Eliza and Ace, pushing him back with some wind magic.
"Tch," Ace scoffed. "Looks like there's even more retainers in here!" He shared a look with Devon and Grim. "Get ready, guys. Looks like we've got another fight on our hands!"
Devon nodded as she readied her staff while Grim smirked and dropped onto all fours, smoke already curling from his mouth as he stored up his magic.
"We'll fend them off, Your Highness!" one of the attendants told Eliza as several of them moved to bolster the contingent of guards that was still in the room.
"Hurry and get the kiss in while we keep them distracted!" said another.
Eliza nodded. "Right!" She rushed back over to Idia, who let out a frightened squeak and moved his head away from her as best could.
"Take this ghost bitch down, Devon!" Dominic urged.
"Trust me, after everything she's put us through today, it'll be my genuine pleasure. But first…" Devon looked over to Idia as she blew the ghosts closest to her away. "Idia!"
"Eh?" Idia replied, looking over at her with just his eyes as he continued to dodge the princess' attempts to kiss him despite not being able to move.
"We're gonna get you out of here, so just hold on a little longer! We're all here for you!" Devon assured him. She moved as close as the retainers would allow, hoping he could see the purple rings around her irises. "All of us."
Idia's eyes widened as he caught sight of the rings. 'Dom… He's really here…well, kind of. So he really has been watching through Devon this whole time? Oh, he must be exhausted if he's been using his blessing for this long.' Suddenly motivated, he redoubled his efforts to dodge Eliza's attempts to kiss him and part his soul from his body. 'If Dom can push himself for my sake, the least I can do is return the favor. I'm not about to die while he's watching!'
"Grr… This is just like before!" Grim shouted as he blasted more of the guards away with his fire, only to see them reappear a moment later.
"Argh! Lousy ghosts! No matter how many we take down, they just keep coming back!" Ace exclaimed as he hit another one with his bouquet, causing them to vanish in a sea of flower petals.
"At this rate, we'll never get close enough to take Idia back!" Devon agreed as Zephyr's magic pulled a group of guards into a contained tornado.
"Quickly, princess! Get your kiss!" one of Eliza's attendants urged. "We won't be able to keep them back for much longer!"
Behind the wall of ghosts, Devon and Ace could just barely make out Eliza's frustrated expression as Idia dodged her kiss yet again. "Idia, darling, you really must stop this silly display of stubbornness! Why do you insist on evading me like that, anyway? I mean, honestly!"
"W-Well, you see, uh…," Idia stammered as he bobbed his head out of the way of another kiss with a nervous laugh. "Aha ha…hahaha… I just want my first kiss to be special, is all." 'And, you know, not one that'll kill me.'
"Okay, seriously, just look at Idia over there!" Ace said to the ghostly retainers. "There's no way you can possibly interpret the way he's bobbing his head like that as anything but him trying to avoid your princess."
"For real, though," Devon agreed. "Either she's choosing to ignore the fact that he's clearly not into her and definitely doesn't wanna marry her or she's too stupid to see it. Frankly, I'm not sure which one's worse."
The attendants' eyes flashed with anger. "You dare speak to Her Highness-"
"We're not speakin' to your precious princess; there's clearly no reasoning with her," Ace corrected. "We're speakin' to all of you." He crossed his arms and eased out of his fighting stance as he glared up at them challengingly. "There's no way all of you can be this dense, so I'm askin' you to level with me for a minute. It's clear as day that she's in the wrong here and I'm willing to bet most-if not all-of you know it."
The retainers fell silent as Ace's words sunk in. Several of them looked uncomfortable if not outright guilty at being called out, many suddenly finding it difficult to meet Ace's eyes. After a moment, one of them spoke up. "Everything we do is for her sake. We've watched over her since she was a little girl. She was always so kind and hopeful. All of us looked forward to seeing what her future had in store. But it was not to be…"
"A neighboring kingdom attacked us without warning and everything was lost in a single night," another retainer elaborated. "In spite of all the hardship and strife, our princess never lost her smile, nor did she ever blame us for failing to protect her. All she ever says is: "It's fine." "I'm okay." "Don't worry about it." "Surely someday…""
"She might say all those things, but she clearly isn't fine!" the first retainer continued, wiping tears from her eyes. "For 500 years, she's dreamed of meeting her prince, yet that dream remained unfulfilled. I'm certain she lost hope somewhere along the way."
"As her retainers, all we want is to help the princess get the thing she desires most," the second retainer concluded as he looked back at Eliza with a mix of pity and fondness. "Our beloved, tragic princess…"
Devon shared an unimpressed look with Grim and she had a feeling that her brothers were rolling their eyes as well. "That's all well and good, but how does that justify causing this much trouble for all of us?"
"Wh-What?" the two retainers asked in unison, shocked that the humans in the room weren't completely moved to tears after hearing the tragic tale of their dear Princess Eliza.
"In the past twelve-no, you know what, not even twelve hours, Grim and I have been forced out of our dorm, the rest of the students have been forced out of the school, I've had to watch your "kind and loving" princess slap my friends around for pretty much no reason, and Ace and the others had to go through a whole fake proposal thing just to prove they were worthy enough to be in the same room as Her Exalted Highness, only for us to have to fight our way here anyway because whichever one of you was workin' the door has no tact whatsoever. Oh yeah, and that's on top of, ya know, Ms. Thing over there kidnapping Idia and forcing him to marry her against his will!" Devon ranted before glaring at Eliza. "Sorry, not sorry, honey, but he's just not into you."
"Y-You don't know what you're talking about!" Eliza protested angrily. "Idia and I are meant to be together. It's true love!"
Devon quirked a brow. "Really? Is that why you had to take him by force and then paralyze him so he wouldn't run? I'll be honest here; it sounds like what you're actually in love with is this idea of a fairytale romance, but you clearly have no idea what it takes to actually be in a relationship with someone."
"That's… I…," Eliza sputtered before huffing indignantly. "What do you know about love, anyway? I'll bet you've never even experienced love at first sight."
Devon shrugged. "I know enough to know that there's a big difference between infatuation and actual love. Sorry to burst the fantasy bubble you've been livin' in for the last half century, but love at first sight doesn't exist. It's not possible to fall in love the instant you lay eyes on someone. You can absolutely be infatuated with a person at first sight, but true love means taking the time to get to know that person, the good and the bad. I mean, have you had even one proper conversation with Idia? Do you know anything about him that isn't related to his appearance?" She turned her attention back to the retainers. "And as for you all, are you really okay with your princess marrying someone you know doesn't love her? I understand that you wanna help her make her dream come true or whatever overly sappy BS you said before, but don't you think her partner should, y'know, want to be with her?"
The ghosts fell silent again.
"Ha! Dev's got ya there," Ace agreed. "It doesn't matter how tragic her backstory is, it doesn't justify the amount of trouble you all have caused. For one thing, that "perfect prince" she's been barkin' after this whole time? He doesn't exist. Never has, never will."
"What do you mean he doesn't exist?" Eliza asked fretfully.
"No partner's gonna meet your every ideal," Ace replied bluntly. "That's Relationships 101 stuff. And the more "qualifications" they have to have, the harder it'll be for you to find someone!"
"How dare you ignoramuses speak to Her Highness that way!" the first attendant shouted. "Shame on you for trying to shatter her hopes like that!"
"Do not listen to them, princess. You've already found your perfect prince," the second attendant said in a placating tone as he gestured to Idia.
"Wow. Loyalty's one thing, but this is just sad," DJ commented.
Ace immediately rounded on the retainers. "And just so we're clear here, the whole reason she's so hung up on this nonexistent Mr. Right is because all of you keep getting her hopes up!" He sighed. "Look, this isn't my first time dealing with something like this, so I'll break it down for you. I get that you feel sorry for her, but treating her with kid gloves isn't doing anyone any favors. Not you all, not her, and certainly not Idia. If you ask me, you guys are just a bunch of enablers who'd rather take the easy way out than have the tough conversations!"
"Why do I feel like I'm being called out all over again?" Trey muttered, recalling a similar conversation with Ace in the library at the beginning of the term. Cater laughed nervously next to him, but didn't respond otherwise.
"Tell your princess the truth for once!" Ace continued. "Looks aren't everything when it comes to picking a husband!"
"But…how else am I supposed to choose a prince?" Eliza asked.
Ace shook his head exasperatedly. "You're still missing the point. You've gotta let the whole "prince" thing go! As for the perfect partner…" His gaze flicked unconsciously toward Devon for a split second before he continued. "How about someone you can laugh with when things are good and cry with when they aren't? How about someone who'll stand by you, even when the going gets tough? That's the kind of person you should be lookin' for. Ugh, do you have any idea how embarrassing it is that I have to spell this out for you?" He refocused his attention on the retainers. "How is it that none of you ever thought to teach your princess something that should be common sense? You've all spent 500 years with this woman and it never crossed any of your minds to sit her down and say, "Hey, I know you wanna get married, Your Highness, but don't just go grabbin' pretty randos off the street! Make sure you know more about him than just his name, alright?" Pfft. Some retainers you are!"
The ghosts in the room stared at Ace once again, some looking shocked while others looked ashamed, when the sound of approaching footsteps drew everyone's attention to the cafeteria doors once again.
"Ace is absolutely right," Riddle said as he, Rook, and Epel entered the room along with the Wisps Devon had left with each of them. The Wisps all pulsed happily when they saw that Devon and Grim were alright and immediately rushed over to merge with the Ramshackle staff.
"Dorm head!" Ace exclaimed happily.
"Rook and Epel are back too!" Grim added as the trio joined them.
"Are you all okay?" Devon asked, looking them over. Their suits were ripped in places-and scorched, in Riddle's case- but aside from some superficial wounds, the boys seemed none the worse for wear.
"You're late," Vil said, giving Rook and Epel a sharp look.
"My sincerest apologies, Roi de Poison," Rook replied with a flourish. "I became lost in the darkness so many times without your brilliant light to guide the way."
Epel gave Rook a flat look and grumbled, "Sure didn't seem like you were lost when you were chasin' down those ghosts earlier…"
Deuce looked at Riddle with a relieved smile. "Thank you for coming to save us, dorm leader-"
"Cater!" Riddle shouted suddenly, cutting him off. "What time is it?!"
Cater blinked, confused. "Huh? Uhh…" His eyes moved to the cafeteria clock. "11:35, if that clock's right."
"Less than half an hour before the date changes, then," Riddle concluded urgently. "We must dispatch these ghosts posthaste!"
"Wait, what's going on? Why are you asking about the time?" Cater asked.
"Alright! Team Tux is back in business!" Ace cheered as he smirked and rolled his shoulders. "You ghosts might as well just pack it in now. It's way past time you released Idia."
"B-But…," the retainers said, looking conflicted.
"It's not too late to start over, you know," Rook told them. "After all, you wouldn't want you princess to gain a reputation as an evil spirit who steals the souls of innocent men, now would you?"
"An…evil spirit? …Me?" Eliza closed her eyes and shook her head in despair. "I-I'm not trying to be evil! I was just-"
Chubby immediately moved between Eliza and the suitors (plus Devon and Grim) as if trying to shield her from their words. "Don't listen to anything they say, Your Highness. You haven't done anything wrong," he assured her gently.
Eliza opened her eyes, looking at Chubby gratefully. "Chubby…"
"Dude, did you miss that entire TED talk I just gave about enabling?" Ace asked in exasperation.
"Is it really that hard for you to see that what she's doing is wrong?" Epel pressed.
"Y-Yeah! What they said!" Idia agreed softly.
"I don't care if it's wrong!" Chubby said as he turned to face them. "All I want is for Her Highness to be happy. I'll fight the entire world if that's what it takes. That's my lingering attachment! That's my wish!"
"What, is it your ninja way too?" Dominic snarked.
"No time for jokes, Dom," Devon replied as Chubby began to rapidly increase in size.
"Wha-What's goin' on?" Grim asked nervously. "Why's that big ghost gettin' even bigger?"
"It looks like he's manifesting five centuries' worth of attachment at once!" Riddle exclaimed as he recoiled in shock.
"Oh, so it's not just a really bad case of gas?" DJ quipped.
"Guys, seriously!" Devon groaned.
"I'm sensing a power within him that dwarfs all the other ghosts," Rook commented. "It's too dangerous to stay the close. Everyone, get behind us!"
Now it was Vil's turn to give Rook a flat look. "We can't move, Rook."
"Ah, yes, quite," Rook replied as he shook his head. "In that case…" He looked over at Devon and Epel. "Mademoiselle Trickster. Monsieur Crabapple. Can I ask you two to roll these glorified logs to a far corner of the cafeteria?"
"You got it!/Leave it to us!" Epel and Devon replied.
"Oi! Who're you callin' a log?" Leona demanded, glaring at Rook.
"Be mad later, Leona. We gotta go!" Devon said as she started moving him toward the back corner of the room.
"Yeah, yeah," Leona grumbled. He wasn't wild about being rolled across the floor but it wasn't like there was much he could do to stop it. He looked at her once she'd safely tucked him away. "Nice dress, by the way."
Devon smiled before quickly scratching his scalp. "Thanks. I'd love to hang around and chat some more, but I've gotta get back to helping Epel. Talk to you after all this is over, 'kay?" With that, she stood quickly as rushed back to the other frozen students, approaching Sebek next.
"You'd do well to remember that I am a retainer of the great Lord Malleus, Devon!" Sebek reminded her loudly. "I will not suffer the indignity of being rolled around-ack!"
Devon promptly shoved Sebek onto his back before rolling him down the aisle. "Sorry man, but we're kind of in a hurry here."
"She has a point, Sebek," Lilia agreed as he was rolled along next to them by Epel. "You know this is actually kind of fun. Keh heh heh. Wheee!"
'I will never understand that guy, but I love him so much!' Devon thought.
One by one, all the frozen students-aside from Idia since Chubby was blocking the way to him-were moved to the back of the room while Riddle, Rook, Ace, and Grim used their magic to keep Chubby at bay.
"Has everyone been moved to safety?" Riddle asked once Epel and Devon rejoined them.
"Yes! We're good to go," Epel replied.
"Then let's work out a way to clobber this guy!" Ace said. "He's gotta have a weak spot somewhere, but he keeps blocking our attacks before they land!"
"You won't get past me!" Chubby told them. "I'll protect the princess to the very last."
Ace glanced over at Devon to see her looking at Chubby thoughtfully. "What's up, New York? That look on your face says you've got an idea."
"Just thinking about how much this ghost reminds me of that monster we fought in the mines that one time," Devon said.
Grim shuddered. "Ugh, don't remind me."
"Just think about it for a sec," Devon replied. "That determination to protect the princess is just like that monster's determination to keep us from taking the crystal it was guarding, which means we might be able to use it against him."
"How do you mean?" Riddle asked.
"I mean that if one of us makes him angry by insulting the princess, he'll probably focus all of his attention on them. That means the others can focus on finding his weak spot," Devon elaborated. Her staff elongated as she hopped onto it. "Since I'm the only one of us with a means to fly right now, I volunteer to draw his fire." She smirked as she felt Dominic's eagerness to stir the pot through the link. "Something tells me I won't run out of material."
"Aww, heck yeah!" Grim cheered as he hopped onto Devon's shoulder. "Count me in! I'm a pro at makin' people mad!"
"Just so you know, I've got my own blessing charged up too, sis," DJ said. "I won't use it unless you need it, though."
"Thanks, DJ. That makes me feel a little better," Devon replied.
Riddle sighed. "I can't say I like the idea of you two putting yourselves directly in harm's way, but I don't have any better ideas." He looked around at the other boys, all of whom nodded their approval. "Keep him busy for as long as you can, but fall back if you think you're getting overwhelmed, alright?"
"You've got this, guys!" Epel added.
"We'll handle everything here on the ground," Rook assured them.
Ace stepped closer to Devon and touched his forehead to hers, lowering his voice so only she could hear him. "Come back safe, okay, New York? And bring the furball back with ya."
Devon laughed before kicking off into the air. "Will do. Now let's get to it!" Zephyr flew them upward until they were nearly eye-level with Chubby. "Yo, big guy!" Devon called out. "We got a question for ya!"
Chubby glanced at them, but seemed hesitant to take his eyes off of Ace and the others for too long-they were closer to the princess, after all.
"Be honest with us here. Do you guys really love your princess as much as you say or it just the sense of obligation talking?" Grim asked, smirking when Chubby leveled a glare at them and left the others to their own devices. "Hey, hey, no need to look so upset. Henchmen gotta follow that boss; I get that. I'm just sayin' that it's way easier to find loyal henchmen when you've got a certain somethin' about ya that makes people wanna follow. I know I've got that somethin', "he paused to pat Devon's head, "just ask my minion here, but I'm not so sure the ghost lady does."
"He's got a point, ya know," Devon agreed. "Most people with a following like this are really dynamic or charismatic, but she just seems like a preteen girl in an adult not-body. Everything that's happened today has proved that she ain't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer and she doesn't strike me as especially witty. You all keep going on and on about how kind she is, but I'm not really seein' much evidence of that, either."
By now, Chubby's fists were clenched and shaking with barely constrained rage, the others completely forgotten. Grim sent Devon a sly smile and nodded, adjusting his grip in anticipation of the strike they knew was coming.
"And really, if she's so desirable, why did it take her 500 years to find-oh, I mean, kidnap-a partner?" Devon pressed. "Shouldn't she have had suitors linin' up to meet her? I guess all the perfect princes out there weren't lookin' for "vapid and uninteresting"-"
"Hold your tongue!" Chubby shouted as he finally struck out at them. Fortunately, the massive increase in his size meant an equally massive decrease in his moving speed, so dodging out of the way was a simple task. "Cease this treasonous drivel at once!"
"And what are you gonna do if we don't? Throw us in your castle's jail?" Grim challenged. "Oh wait, your castle doesn't exist anymore! Ya know, because your kingdom's as dead as you and Princess What-her-face."
"I don't see why you're gettin' so mad at us, anyway," Devon added. She glanced down to check on the boys' progress. They were all firing magic blasts at various spots on Chubby's body, but most of them just bounced off harmlessly and the ones that did manage to land didn't seem to faze him. "It's not our fault the truth hurts, just like it's not our fault that the princess' whole personality boils down to 'wants to get married'."
Another attempt to grab them resulted in another dodge.
"Doesn't she at least have a hobby? Somethin' that might make her a little more interestin'?"
Dodge.
"At least tell us she had some sort of aspiration for her kingdom. I'm not gonna hold my breath, considering how self-centered she's been to this point but…"
Another dodge, this one punctuated by a rumbling growl from Chubby.
"Oof. Doesn't sound like he can do it, Grim," Devon snarked mockingly as she smirked up at Chubby. "I think it's time you face the music, big guy: your princess isn't the catch you all seem to think she is. I bet she didn't come up with that dumb list of qualifications because her standards are just that high-I bet it's to hide the fact that nobody in their right mind would wanna marry such an entitled spoiled brat!"
"That's enough!" Chubby thundered as he reached for them once again. Flapjack was just about to warp them away when Chubby lurched forward slightly, as if stumbling over his nonexistent feet.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Devon flew around their ghostly adversary until she saw the rest of Team Tux come into view. "What was that?"
"I think I just found his weak spot!" Epel announced breathlessly. "I hit him between where his shoulder blades would be with my magic and he stumbled!"
"Maintaining that large form is probably consuming a considerable amount of magical energy," Riddle added. "He won't be able to hold it for much longer, no matter how strong his lingering attachment is. Which is good, because I'm not sure how much longer our own magic reserves will last. Those previous battles took a lot out of us."
"Okay. If Grim and I can keep his attention on us for a little longer, do you guys think you can manage one last coordinated attack?" Devon asked.
"Certainly, my dear trickster. However, I fear even that might not be enough to fell this foe," Rook replied.
Devon smiled. "No need to worry about that." She pointed to her eyes. "My brothers have been watching and it so happens that my fully magically charged older brother comes equipped with a blessing that packs a serious-and literal-punch."
"And he can use it here despite being in an entirely different world?" Riddle asked.
"Oh yeah he can," Ace replied. "He used it during Azul's Overblot to get him to stop crush Devon in his tentacles. I saw the whole thing and lemme tell ya, DJ's magic punches are nothin' to sneeze at."
"Fine. Seeing as it's the best idea we have, I don't think we've got much of a choi-" Riddle began, only to stop short as Chubby turned and made to grab for them.
"I don't think so!" Grim shouted before blasting a stream of fire directly into the ghost's face, causing him to stagger back as he rubbed at his eyes and nose.
"Nice save, Grim! I think that's our cue to get back in the game," Devon commented. "DJ's ready to go when you guys are, so give me some sort of signal once you've charged up enough magic and we'll get into position." With that, she and Grim took off into the air again. "Ready for one last push, bud?"
"Always," Grim replied with a smirk. "I wanna get this mess over with so we can get our dorm back."
Thankfully, keeping Chubby's attention on them was easy enough; the guy was now angry at Grim for blowing fire into his face on top of Devon's insults toward Eliza. He made a few more attempts to either grab them or charge up a magic attack, but his slowed movements gave Devon and Grim enough time to either dodge him or hit him with an attack of their own.
"Okay guys, we're ready!" Epel called out.
Chubby turned toward the sound of Epel's voice, ready to strike, but Grim sent another blast of fire into his face, causing him to shout in pain and giving Devon and Grim enough of an opening to circle around him to join the rest of the boys.
"Is DJ still good to go?" Ace asked, his magical pen glowing with stored energy.
Devon opened her mouth to answer as she hopped off her staff, but a reassuring crackling noise followed by some small bolts of pink lightning answered for her.
Ace nodded. "Works for me."
"Quickly now! Before he has a chance to turn around!" Riddle ordered.
Several of the Wisps left Devon's staff to fire off blasts of their own magic as Rook, Riddle, Ace, and Epel fired off the energy stored in their pens and Grim blew out some more fire, all of them targeting the weak spot on Chubby's back. The crackling sound coming from Devon grew louder as DJ channeled his blessing through her, a trail of pink lightning showing his power's trajectory as he landed a devastating punch as well.
(Meanwhile Azul, unable to move but able to see the attack from where he and the other frozen suitors had been rolled to safety, grimaced involuntarily. He couldn't remember much from when he was actually Overblotting, but DJ's punches left an impression on him in more ways than one.)
Chubby roared in pain as a blinding flash of light erupted from his body. Those who could shielded their eyes and those who couldn't screwed their eyes shut and waited for the light to dim.
"You think that'll be enough?" Epel asked.
"It better be," Ace replied. "We're all tapped out of magic at this point. I have to think that light's a good sign, though."
"We'll know soon enough," Riddle told them. "The light is beginning to fade."
The group slowly opened their eyes once the light dimmed enough to allow them to see. Chubby was now lying on the cafeteria floor, returned to his normal size. It seemed that he didn't even have the energy to hover as all the other ghosts were and his were closed, his uniform even more tattered than it was before and an expression of pained resignation on his face.
"I think… I think we did it, guys," Devon said softly. Her voice was barely above a whisper, as if she was afraid Chubby would go on another rampage if she was too loud.
Behind them, Eliza's hands flew up to cover her mouth. Her eyes widened in terrified realization as she stared at the scene before her. "Oh no… Please no…"
Ending Notes: Just two more chapters of this arc left. It makes me sad because I really do love this event, but I'm also excited to get started on Scarabia. Jamil finally gets some more focus of course, but Ace also gets some love and Lilia makes good on his promise to Devon. Also, we get some more shenanigans with Devon and the fish mafia which is always a good time. There may or may not be some Azul snuggles as well.
Thank you all so much for reading! As always, feedback and constructive criticism are welcome. Geekinthepink, out!
