"Wait a minute!" a voice cried. "You can't just waltz in here like you own the place! This is a legitimate business, and we're closed! You've no right!"

Jack and his team were well used to such objections; they heard them often enough, not just from the owners of Cardiff's many businesses, but from private citizens, holidaymakers, city officials, and the police. People were entitled to complain, but they were wrong. Torchwood had every right to be wherever they needed to go. Having them show up without warning might be inconvenient, but chances were, if they didn't then people would find themselves with something a lot worse to deal with.

"Torchwood!" Jack snapped out. "Stand aside."

"I know who you are, and I don't have to stand for this! It's an invasion of privacy!"

"You can lodge a complaint later. Right now, if you value your life, you'll do as I say."

"Are you threatening me?"

"No," Ianto said with strained patience. "We're trying to protect you."

"From what?"

Something was moving in the shadows.

"That," said Jack as the team opened fire. The creature howled, then crashed to the floor.

"You're destroying my shop!"

Jack sighed. "Another dissatisfied customer."
