I take a long sip of my drink as I watch the waves gently crash outside the boat.

Fucking hell.

"Attention students, if you look over the bow of the ship, you will see the illustrious duel island. Your new home away from home. Now now. I know you are excited, but please no pushing." A low voice begins over the intercom."

That's a fucking volcano.

Why did they put a school on a volcanic island?!

Ugh. I don't fucking care. Whatever. If I get pompeii'd I get pompeii'd.

The boat docks as I slowly rise from my seat, a bored frown on my face, adjusting my yellow blazer.

Fucking god awful. I honestly would have taken red over this shitty color.

"You look like Mustard." The petite, smug, blue-haired and most importantly see-through girl beside me observes.

My eyebrow twitches, but I don't respond. As there are other people nearby... and I don't want to get the reputation of talking to myself.

I make my way off the boat, ignoring practically everyone as I look down to the little PDA thing they gave me when I got on the boat, we are more or less corralled into a sole absolutely massive almost castle-esque building

We are stood in front of an absolutely massive screen, mutterings of discontent echoing out through those around me as nothing seems to be happening.

Five minutes pass and eventually the screen lights up, showing a balding man with a goatee beard. "Good afternoon and welcome, my students! I'm chancellor Shepard, the headmaster here, and YOU are the best and brightest young duelists in the world!"

The man lets out a hearty laugh as he seems to look over us all. "I know a few of you may be nervous, but you were accepted based on your own merits have a little more confidence in yourselves! Allow me to go over a few of the rules for this school."

I can hear someone faintly snoring... which is utterly ridiculous. What sort of idiot fell asleep standing up?!

"Firstly, if you are unaware, on this island, we do not use simple yen or any other currency from the outside world. As a school created by the illustrious Kaiba Corporation, we have been molded by CEO, Seto Kaiba's desire to have the world revolve around duel monsters! Much like any store, restaurant, or theatre fathered by Kaiba Corp, we use the standard dueling currency known as Duel Points." The man begins. "Here at duelist academy, you will be granted a stipend of Duel Points to make use of the services around the island. Movies, games, food, and more importantly booster packs from our card shop. Anything may be purchased by Duel Points."

"As for how many duel points you receive at the start of each week, well, that is dependent on two factors, the first? Your status in the academy, be it Oblisk Blue, Ra Yellow, or Slifer Red. The next? Your overall school ranking decided through a monthly tournament that spans across your entire year."

"I suppose I should speak on the tournament itself as well. This will be covered more in depth by the head of your dorms. But to put it simply, if you do well, you may have the chance to rise from your current dorm placement to a different one, however, you must keep in mind that you will not just be judged on your placement within the tournament, but your overall skill as a duelist as well."

"You also gain some duel points through dueling your fellow students, do well enough and the algorithm studying your duels may see to giving you some extra points, in addition, you can also wager your duel points on the outcome of your duels as well."

Next, I could talk about some of the less... duel related... rules this academy has, but those can be covered by your dorm heads. I feel as if I have kept you long enough! Now please. Get yourselves settled in at your assigned dorm rooms-" *P-PING-PING PING!* he is cut off by the noise of dozens of chimes and beeps from our little devices. "Which should have just been told to you all via your Duel Academy PDA."

The man smiles. "I see big things in your future. Good luck!"

The screen flashes to black as it turns off.

That lazy motherfucker couldn't even be bothered to come here himself.

I look to my little Duel PDA.

Yep. Ra Yellow. Room thirty nine.

This school is pretty interesting.

Four years. Sixty four students from each year... so that means there's two hundred and fifty-six horny and hormonal teens locked on this island...

I honestly sort of wonder what the class pregnancy rate is like.

Anyways, of those sixty-four, I'd like to say that ten-ish are Oblisk Blue, twenty-five-ish are yellow like myself and the remainder are red.

For the first year, at least. I've got no clue what the composition of the higher years are.

Well, I should probably get to my room.

I try not to look at the smug ghostly girl smirking at me as she floats around behind me on a throne of crystal.

Damn. This school doesn't pull any punches.

I'm only in the middle dorm, yet I've got a room all to myself that has a huge tv in the wall, a nice twin sized bed, desk, personal bathroom, and that welcome dinner we were given had lobster as an option.

Another thing I've realized...

All of the girls are put in Oblisk blue.

That's fuckin weird... and a little sexist.

I quietly skim through the internet as I lay on my bed, school doesn't 'officially' start until tomorrow, so I'm more or less left to my own devices.

"Stop ignoring meee!" The girl pouting at the foot of my bed suddenly exclaims.

"If you keep bothering me I'll swap to the Cyber Dragon deck. Damn the consequences." I reply quietly earning a quiet 'HMPH' from the girl.

She turns away from me as she sits on the bed, her arms crossed.

"Honestly... I probably should anyways." I admit with a small shrug. "At least until I can get enough duel energy to get the rest of your set."

She gives me a slight glare then sighs. "Fine. Whatever. I don't really care."

Or I might go for Red Dragon Archfiend... or I could go and try and make a Galaxy Eyes deck work. That sounds equally as fun.

I tap my finger on the bedpost.

Galaxy eyes.

I wonder how that archetype will change, so far, my Dragulon and Cyber Nova Dragon became fusion cards. There's only one way to find out what may be different.

"Welcome students, to the first class of Duel Theory. I, the illustrious Vellian Crowler will be your teacher for this class. You all may refer to me as Doctor Crowler." A... guy... stands at the front of the classroom, he has a blue coat with pink frills, blonde hair that is cut in a slight bowl cut with a long pony tail, and wears purple lipstick.

"NOW!" He continues in a loud and slightly shrill voice. "We shall be covering the basics of basics for Duel Monsters."

He points to one of the people on the front row. "Tell me. You. What are the basic card types you will face as a duelist."

The person with a red blazer seems caught off guard at being put on the spot, suddenly being the attention of the entire class. "U-Uh-Um-"

"Yes, Yes, hurry up. We haven't got all day." The man mocks.

"M-Monster... Spell... and Trap?" The boy whispers.

"Is that all?" The teacher hums.

"Y-Yes?" The student squeaks.

"Incorrect! One point from Slifer Red!" Crowler stats in a booming voice. "Is there anyone else here who knows the answer."

We are doing Harry Potter-esque 'ten points to Gryffindor' shenanigans?

I find myself lifting a hand.

"Yes. You. The Ra Yellow."

"The only card types I can think of, to add to the earlier three, would be Fusion and ritual monsters, but they are technically still monsters."

"Hn. A fair point I suppose." The man begins. "You are right, however. The fourth type I was thinking of was Ritual Monsters, and the fifth, Fusion Monsters. But it is still the basics of basics, which is why I took away points from Slifer Red for being incorrect and why Ra Yellow shall not be given any for getting this frankly facile question. Even the greatest idiot should be able to look at the cards and see that they are of different color... and while these cards do function like monsters and are called Ritual and Fusion 'Monsters' their applications are vastly different due to the requirements needed to see them in play."

I nod slowly, accepting the answer he has given me.

Well, half accept it.

I fully know that was entirely a way to punch down at Slifer red. If an Obelisk Blue had given said answer he probably would have accepted it and given them a point.

"Since you have answered this first basic question so easily, let's see how well you really know this game. Could you list every monster type?" Professor Crowler smirks smugly.

"Well, beyond Fusion, Ritual, and normal monsters, you have Effect monsters, which, as the name implies, has some sort of effect, be it from dealing direct damage to summoning other monsters, the next categories are simply further classifications of Effect monsters as they are all effect monsters. You have flip monsters, their effect activating when they are flipped from the face down position, be it from a monster attacking it in its set position, or by you the next turn after you had summoned it, the next, would be Union monsters, which typically allow you to 'Equip' them to other monsters sort of like a spell card, then Gemini which are normal monsters on the field until you 'normal summon' them a second time, granting them a card effect. Then, you have Spirit monsters, which return to your hand at the end of your turn, but their effects are typically more powerful than the standard card's due to this downside."

"Is this all of them?" The professor questions slowly.

"There is also Toon monsters which are unable to be summoned without the spell card 'Toon World' and are all able to attack your opponent directly. But I have only heard of one person ever using those cards."

"Hm." The man nods slowly a small ghost of a smile on his lips it seems like while he definitely is biased to Obelisk Blue, he is fair... unless you get on his bad side. "Very good. I would have been happy if you had listed even one of the monsters beyond basic Effect and Flip monsters, as there are barely even a handful of some of these monster types, but you have listed them all and the qualities which differentiate them. You have clearly studied hard, student. Well done. five points to Ra Yellow."

"Now, Trap Cards. A much easier question. Do I have anyone here who knows the answer?" The man questions before suddenly pointing to a Slifer member. "What about you?"

"C-Continuous, Normal, and... counter?"

"Correct." The man notes. "Though, I suppose that one was sort of easy."

"Now. Can anyone tell me the categories for spell cards?" He looks past me as someone behind me raises a hand. "Yes, Alexis."

"Spell cards are divided into six categories. Equip spells, Ritual Spells, Quick-Play Spells, Field Spells, Continuous Spells, and finally Normal Spells."

"Very good. To be expected of my Obelisk Blues. Two points to Obelisk Blue!"

I should really figure out what the point of 'points' are in the school.

Like, what does the winning group get?

What's the point of calculating 'points' if we get shifted around in our placement every month or so?

Both of these are valid questions.

"Now. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between these spell types?" Crowler hums. "What about you, Sirus Truesdale. What defines a field spell?"

The short greenish-teal haired boy lets out a small squeak as he looks around. "U-Uhm. A-a field spell is the things- that uh- effects the thing that is a-"

A heckler in the back of the room lets out a quiet laugh. "Even preschoolers know the answer to this, you Slifer slacker!"

Most of the class laughs at his joke.

"I-I know it!" The boy proclaims.

'how the fuck do you not know what a field spell does?! It's in the fucking NAME!' I rub my temples at the sheer dumbassery that is happening around me, some from our teacher's hate boner for Slifer Red, more from the fact this guy doesn't know what a field spell is, and even a little from that guy's HORRIBLE southern accept that makes him sound like his name is fucking 'skeeter' or something. Like my god. I'm American from said southern places... every part of my very being wants to throttle that guy with barbed wire.

"I think not." The teacher lets out a long sigh. "One point from Slifer Red. Now, can anyone else give me the answer? Preferably not someone wearing red?"

More laughs at the boy's expense echo out from around me.

"You know something, Teach. You shouldn't go around and make fun of us Slifer's like that. I mean, I'm a Slifer, and I beat ya. So it's kind of like insulting yourself, ain't it?" A brown haired boy towards the front of the class hums, causing Crowler to get genuinely infuriated.

"You need to learn RESPECT boy! Ten points from Slifer!"

Ouch.

But I mean, insulting a teacher? What did you expect to happen?

I flip through my Pda.

'AYOOO?! The current dorm with the most points gets a bonus to how much duel points they earn from duels?! Fifty percent!?'

It's also calculated person to person, so your score follows you as you rank up.

Methinks that this system may be the slightest bit biased towards Obelisk Blue. The people who do good are more likely to be ranked up and placed into it, thus their points follow along behind them further increasing Obelisk Blue's skill.

Personally, this first month is like the only time any of the other dorms would get any benefit from this little point boost.

Which means... I need to get some duels in.

Ra Yellow is currently in the lead by two points, just ahead of Obelisk Blue's score of six. It appears that the other years are putting in some work as well, but it is safe to say that I alone scored the largest contribution so far today.

I hope I rank up to Obelisk Blue soon. They said that the winning dorm gets 'unique' card packs at the end of the year... and from the looks of it, Obilisk Blue is going to win.

"Please, pay attention to the duels of your fellow students, Arthur Cross." The duel teacher down below frowns at me as he looks up from his clip board. In front of him are eight dueling platforms. All filled to the brim with students dueling so professor Crowler here can grade their skill.

"Oh, my apologies, Doctor Crowler. I was curious about those 'point' things you kept mentioning in class this morning. They weren't explained to me, and I wanted to know what they were." I reply as I slip my PDA into my bag and adjust the duel disk on my arm.

"Hn. You should have been told about them... perhaps Sartyr forgot to mention them... Very well. Please don't let it happen again." The man scoffs.

In front of me are eight separate duels. In one, the protagonist is utterly destroying another of his Slifer Red compatriots, in another, you have that one waifu girl that everyone seems to like battling another Obelisk Blue. She seems to be readily handing them their ass.

In a third there's some little girl Obelisk student with black hair that looks far too young to be here, but I mean, Syrus exists so I mean, whatever.

A fourth there's-

Hang on...

Obelisk Blue student.

Girl.

Pink hair tied into pig-tails with lighter pink bangs framing her face.

Isn't that... that one girl from the future Yugioh series?

Uh damn. What was its name...

Sevens? No...

Uh.

The pendulum one!

Anyways, why the fuck is she here?

I glance around slowly. 'wasn't she also like... one of four pieces of the same person? Are the other three here? The Synchro one, the XYZ one and the Fusion one?

Is the protagonist from the pendulum one here?

Arc Five! It was called Arc Five...

Or Arc-v?

Was it just a V or was it roman numerals?

My eyes skim the surroundings.

'no... he's not dueling. Nor is he anywhere around me... strange.'

My eyes focus back on her duel.

Clearly, she isn't using Pendulum, as that doesn't really exist yet.

It's something to do with girls riding horses?

"With the spell card, Ancient Rules, I special summon the monster Valkyrie Zweite! Due to her effect, after being summoned, I can choose one monster that you control and destroy it!" She calls out.

Valkyries?

Huh.

Okay.

She proceeds to attack her opponent with her fairly impressive board of horse riding women, now that the foe's Curse of Dragon with two Dragon Treasure played on it is gone, she is able to clean up his monster in defense position and attack directly with the rest of her monsters for game.

"Arthur Cross and Jasmine Makurada."

I rise to my feet and make my way down, off the bleacher as I watch a brown haired Obelisk Blue girl we slowly walk towards the now free dueling platform, not really speaking to each other as we step up onto it.

We both activate our duel disks, causing it to shuffle our decks.

"Oh! I remember you!" The girl across from me exclaims. "You did pretty good at the Entrance Exam!"

"Thanks." I weakly reply.

The girl nods as we both draw five cards. "I take it you have heard of ladies first? I'll be taking my turn!"

She draws a single card, her eyes widening as a slightly devious grin appears on her face.

"From what I've seen of you dueling... your deck isn't that good! You rely on one sole card to defeat your opponents!"

"Every deck should have an ace monster." I reply with a slight shrug.

"But what happens if I take your ace out of battle before it can even appear! I play Prohibition! I can select one monster name and prevent it from being used!"

Huh? There's really a spell card like that?

"And I choose your Witchcrafter Madame Verre! Next, I play MY ace card, Maha Vailo in attack mode!

A man in black clothing sits on the floor in front of her, arms crossed in front of his chest, he has dark skin, mostly obscured by his tattered clothing, on his back are two large... wings? Shaped a little bit like sharp hammers. On his head he wears a wizard's hat that looks like it is part insect, with little red orbs that look like eyes.

Maha Vailo
his card gains 500 ATK for each Equip Card equipped to this card.
Attack: 1550 Defense: 1400

Next... I play the spell Card, Black Pendant and equip it to my monster!

I watch the attack shoot up from fifteen hundred all the way to two thousand five hundred and fifty.

'that is a really good card. I should see about getting that.'

"But I'm not done yet! I play the equip spell 'Axe of Despair' and equip it to my Maha Vailo!"

Maha Vailo
his card gains 500 ATK for each Equip Card equipped to this card.
Attack: 4050 Defense: 1400

Well.

Shit.

That's pretty impressive.

"I set a card face down and I play pot of greed! Allowing me to draw two cards!"

The smile on her face grows as she looks over the cards in her hand. "I set one further card face down and end my turn... now to you."

I draw one card and nod once. "Alright. That's good."

"Are you worried yet? Facing a monster that far surpasses a blue eyes white dragon?"

"Not really." I deadpan. "I'm not even using Madame Verre in this deck, so realistically you sort of wasted a spell."

"W-What?!" The girl gasps. "But- But isn't that your best card?!"

"She is." I nod once. "Debatably..."

"You see, I actually have another card which could arguably compete with her... and today I am using that deck."

"I set two cards face down and set this monster, then I end my turn."

"Hn. Playing defensive? That'll only save you for so long! I draw!" The girl across from me exclaims. "I summon the monster Obnoxious Celtic Guard and use it to attack your face down card!"

"I use the trap Waboku, causing me to take no battle damage or have my monsters destroyed by battle for the entire turn."

"Tch. Lucky." The girl frowns.

The elf with a sword and green helmet attacks my monster, causing it to flip over.

Proto Cyber Dragon
This card's name becomes "Cyber Dragon" while on the field.
Attack: 1100 Defense: 600

"WHAT?!" The girl shrieks.

"What?" I question with a bored frown.

"H-How do you have that! T-that's Zane's Card!"

"Hn? Have you ever heard of 'Spare Cards'? You don't really think there are only three Dark Magicians in the world, right? Three blue eyes? Well, maybe that one was a bad example because I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that Kaiba hunted them all down and ensured that he would be the only person with Blue Eyes White Dragon. Anyways. Is it really so hard to believe that there might be an extra copy of a level three monster with one thousand attack and six hundred defense?" I question. "That there are only three of it in existence ever?"

I let out a quiet yawn. "And can you please stop screaming? You're sort of hurting my ears."

The girl frowns, eyes flicking from my hand of three cards to the cyber dragon and face down card on the field. "I... end my turn..."

"Good Good." I nod slowly as I draw a card.

'Eh. I didn't really need this, but depending on what sort of card she has as a trap, it'll prove very useful.

"First and foremost. I play the Spell Card Power Bond, allowing me to summon a machine fusion monster from my extra deck using the cards on my hand or in on my field. But not only that, its attack will be doubled at the cost of taking damage at the end of the turn equal to the total attack gained by this effect." I begin, causing the girl across from me to pale considerably as she knows what is coming

"I send to the graveyard, Cyber dragon, then I Fusion summon, Cyber Twin Dragon in attack mode. Next I summon Cyber Phoenix."

Cyber Twin Dragon:
"Cyber Dragon" + "Cyber Dragon" A Fusion Summon of this card can only be done with the above Fusion Materials. This card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase.
Attack: 5600 Defense: 2100

Cyber Phoenix:
While this card is in Attack Position, negate any Spell/Trap effects that target 1 Machine monster you control (and no other cards). When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: You can draw 1 card.
Attack: 1200, Defense: 1600

"Crap!" The girl curses.

"I attack your Obnoxious Celtic Guard with Cyber Twin Dragon."

"Oh no!" The girl gasps before smirking. "Oh wait. I activate Magic Cylinder. Good game."

Nothing happens.

"H-Huh? Hello? I activate magic cylinder!" She looks to her face down card.

"Why isn't it working?!"

*BOOM*

The large double headed robotic serpent smashes into the elf and takes her health from full to zero in one single attack.

"Wh- Why didn't Magic Cylinder work!"

"Cyber Phoenix cancels out traps that target one sole machine monster. Magic Cylinder is one of those cards."

"Tch." The girl frowns. "Damn."

I take my cards off my duel disk and place them back into my deck and nod once, walking off the platform.

We seem to have garnered quite a lot of attention.

I walk past the group and take a seat back on the bleachers.

"Mr. Cross. A word after class, if you would." Professor Crowler frowns.

"Yes sir." I nod once as another Ra Yellow student sits next to me.

He offers a hand to me. "That was an incredible play. Bastion Misawa at your service."

"Arthur Cross." I reply as I shake his hand. "And I wouldn't say it was the best. Maha Vailo is an incredibly powerful monster and if I had even a slightly worse starting hand, I doubt I could have taken care of it."

"Yes." The teen with slicked back black hair agrees, he has sharp features, pale skin and grey eyes. "I was caught off guard at how utterly powerful that card was. It has made me want to get a copy for myself. I wonder what sort of combinations I could pull off with the correct equip cards. Mage power would certainly need to have a key part in my deck, but the cost of that card is nearing that of Mirror Force and Monster Reborn."

"Mage Power?"

"oh. An equip spell which grants an equipped monster five hundred attack for each trap or spell you control. So a minimum of five hundred and a maximum of three thousand if you have a field spell in play."

"What about trap cards that become monsters?"

The boy's eyes widen. "In... in that case you could bring the effect of Mage power all the way up to five thousand five hundred... for a single spell card that is ridiculous!"

He cups his chin. "I need to start saving Duel Points. A trap monster focused deck... that is an interesting thought... I would also need to purchase a few copies of Maha Vailo... and considering the sheer power the effect of that card has, it is doubtful those will be cheap either."

"Hn. It appears that we have grown off topic. I wanted to just say that you used your cards well and got out of a situation that would have defeated a majority of the duelists here. It was a truly masterful play."

"It was just luck." I shrug. "Like I said. If I had a hand even slightly worse I would have lost."

"Perhaps." The teen shrugs. "But I don't really believe luck is that big of a factor in duels."

"…"

"Luck is the biggest factor in Duels." I mutter with a raised brow. "I mean, sure, you can learn strategies, yes, and become skilled in using them, but if you have a deck with merely five monsters that are level five or higher... and if you draw them all on your first turn... you are practically screwed. The first thing you must do in a duel is pray that the gods don't fuck you with a really bad opening hand. Sure. With the right deck you can circumvent this, but it is still possible for you opponent to get extremely lucky as well, such as a person playing with Barrel Dragon always getting heads on the coin flip."

"That is a... way to look at it, I suppose... you are correct in a way, but with enough skill and fine tuning of your deck, you can minimize the chance of your opening hand being unlucky."

"That is true." I relent. "But my point still stands. If your opponent is using Exodia, the chance isn't Zero that he starts with all five pieces in his hand."

"Hn. Fair." Bastion agrees. "In this case... I believe both sides are right."

"That seems to be the case." I agree.

The class steadily winds down, it is the last class of the day and most people are eager to return home to their dorms to rest.

"You wanted to see me, Doctor Crowler?" I question.

"Yes yes." The man nods slowly. "Your cards... the Cyber Dragons... where... exactly did you get them?"

"I've sort of just always had them."

"Hrn. Is that so?" The man hums.

"Yeah. I called them spares earlier because that's... practically what they are... I only have one copy of Cyber Dragon and one copy of Proto Cyber Dragon."

"So, you got excruciatingly lucky in your duel with young Jasmine? Being able to summon Cyber Twin Dragon in such a way?"

"Well, I'd like to think that my current deck is quite well built. It's definitely possible that I could have gotten bad luck, but I am confident in my deck's ability to stall long enough to draw the cards I need, or to have things simply take away the monster that was giving me trouble."

The man nods slowly. "You are well spoken and well learned. Your skills in battle are also quite good. If you keep this up, I believe I might be seeing you in Obelisk blue come the end of this month. Keep up the good work."

"Thank you, Sir." I nod once as I turn and walk away.

"Oi. Ghost girl living in my walls. Can I have another pack like the one you gave me last time?"

*THWACK*

A booster pack smacks into my face.

"Thanks." I lazily reply.

She's still pissed that I'm using a viable deck until I get a few more Witchcrafter cards. Why get worked up over something so small. It's not a big deal. I'm still planning on using her... or a Galaxy Eyes deck.

"I can STILL hear your thoughts, you know!" An ethereal voice echoes through the room.

"Please keep out of my brain." I sigh as I open the pack.

'let's see here.'

Another copy of Witchcrafter Schmietta which is useful as it is just in general a decent card with its attack of two thousand, next I've got a copy of 'Infinitrack Harvester'. It's not what I was going for, so I really don't care. It's a level two monster which can target another machine monster and they both become the combined level of the two of them- making it really good for XYZ summoning, I suppose.

Then some cards that actually matter.

Witchcrafter Collaboration:
Target 1 "Witchcrafter" monster you control; it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn, also, if it attacks this turn, your opponent cannot activate Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. During your End Phase, if you control a "Witchcrafter" monster, while this card is in your GY: You can add this card to your hand. You can only use 1 "Witchcrafter Collaboration" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

The next, another witchcrafter spell card.

Witchcrafter Draping:
Target Spells/Traps your opponent controls, up to the number of "Witchcrafter" monsters you control; return those targeted cards to the hand. During your End Phase, if you control a "Witchcrafter" monster, while this card is in your GY: You can add this card to your hand. You can only use 1 "Witchcrafter Draping" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

And finally, a field spell-

Hang on...

What the fuck?

Secret Village of the Spellcasters:
If only you control a Spellcaster monster, your opponent cannot activate Spell Cards. If you control no Spellcaster monsters, you cannot activate Spell Cards.

HOLY FUCK that's good.

This card alone fucks over a LOT of duelists as they don't use spellcasters!

Like, with this card ALONE, and if I get Verre on the field, I could utterly fuck over Zane, the supposed 'number one duelist' here and now!

Mystical Space Typhoon is a spell card, that's most people's go-to for destroying spells or traps.

Harpie's Feather Duster?

Fucked.

Polymerization or Powerbond?

Not a chance.

Good luck getting your Cyber End Dragon out!

I know some monsters might be able to get rid of this effect, but... I don't think Zane has any in particular?

Huh.

If I can get my hands on a copy of 'Mage Power', an apparently incredibly powerful spell that nears Madame Verre's own effect, I don't think anything here could stop me.

I'd be limiting someone's entire deck by like... a third!

That's quite a devious little plan.

I glance to the side as I hear someone knocking on my door. "Hey, Arthur, are you in?"

Ah. Its Bastion.

"Yeah?" I call out. "Need something?"

"There's someone here who is looking to duel you?" The teen begins.

I blink owlishly as I grab my duel disk and deck, placing the cards I just got in a nearby box where they will be safely contained. "Who?"

"One of the top Duelists within this school, Rebecca Hawkins." The stuffy teen explains.

I open the door.

"Who?" I repeat.

"You- you don't know Rebecca Hawkins?!" Bastion whispers.

"Noooo?" I weakly begin.

"Rebecca Hawkins. The best female duelist in the entire school." Bastion tries again.

"Okay? And?" I mutter as we begin walking.

"The girl who regularly bests the Kaiser himself, Zane Truesdale?!"

"Not ringing any bells." I continue.

"The person who became America's Duel Monster's champion at the age of eight?" Bastion begins.

"…" I don't say anything, causing him to promptly continue.

"And then proceeded to come in third place at the Kaiba Corporation Grand Prix not even a year later?!"

"Yeah, I've never heard of her, dude." I state.

"It's said that she traveled with THE King of Games, Yugi Moto!" He attempts.

"Just accept I don't know her and stop trying." I sigh.

I step outside of the Ra Yellow dorm room and come face to face with a girl with long blonde hair, she wears the standard uniform for Obelisk Blue girls, being a white shirt with blue accents and a popped collar and a blue skirt, she has lightly Sunkissed skin, I wouldn't call her pale, but she's not tanned either, she has long blonde hair and wears red rimmed glasses that lack a top edge, being flat and cut off, making the glasses look slightly angular and pointed, her green eyes seem to scan me with slight interest.

She has freckles. that's cute.

"So. I heard you used Cyber Dragon in a duel today." She begins slowly.

"Yeah?" I shrug. "What about it?"

"Duel me. I want to see if you are worthy of that deck."

"Alright. Whatever. Let's do this." I agree as I step out and fold my arms behind my head. "So, where are we doing this?"

She activates her duel disk.

"Here? Huh. Alright. Whatever." I snort as I activate my own. "Let's get this over with."

Hey all. Back again with another snippet of this thing.

Been reading a few GX fics recently and I thought to myself. 'Rebecca Hawkins should be roughly the age of the people in Duelist Academy right now. She really should have been used in the series'.

Also Zuzu is probably best girl in like... all of the series.

Anyways, I'll see you all whenever I get the motivation to finish a chapter!
