I sighed, pushing my hair back from my face as I waited for the red light to turn green.
Tapping the wheel anxiously, as I watched the windshield wiper wipe away the pounding rain as I stared blankly at the windshield.
"What happened?" Nat asked.
I sighed, trying to blink away the tears in my eyes.
"He's been cheating on me, the entire time I was gone! God, I'm so fucking stupid! I can't even believe all the shit he said!" I cried, smacking the steering wheel as the tears slipped down my face.
"Come on, Ari, you're not stupid. That guy was a total dickhead. Don't be so hard on yourself..." Nat said.
"Please just stop, Nat… don't try to make me feel better. I'll just feel worse." I scoffed, wiping my face again.
"I'm sorry, honey. Look, how about you come over? Clint and I will be home in an hour. You can stay here in our spare room. I'll even make you some of your favorite food..." She suggested.
"No. I—I need to be alone, right now." I whispered.
"No, honey, you can't be alone, not right now." She said,
"Look, Nat, I can't deal with this and your overprotectiveness right now. I-I need to be alone." I sighed, before hanging up.
Just as the right finally turned green, I received another call.
I dropped my head for a second before slamming down on the accelerator, and sighing as I pressed the answer button.
"Bunny."
"Not now, Bucket." I replied, thickly with a soft sigh.
"Hey, wait, you sound sad...What happened? What's wrong, doll face?" He asked, concerned.
"I—I walked in on Spencer fucking Lacy on our couch." I said, causing my voice to tear up.
"What? Are you serious—? I'll kill that bastard! Where are you right now?" He asked, concerned.
I pulled to the side of the road and put my car in park. Before moving my hair from my face, and looking up to look at the streets.
"Oh, erm, 4th and Spruce." I said, thickly.
He sighed, "Great, I'm five minutes away. Stay where you are, doll. I'll be there in five." He said.
"No, Bucky, it's fi—" I managed to say before he cut me off.
"I mean it, Bunny, don't move." He sternly cut me off.
I shook my head. "Buck, I'll be fine, I just need to be alone. I promise I'll be fine." I said, shaking my head.
"I'm not going to argue with you about this, Button. I'm already heading towards you. If you leave, I'll just follow you." He warned.
I rolled my eyes, shaking my head in amusement. "Alright, fine. But I was going to go get something to eat and then to a bar. To drown my sorrows and all that shit..." I said.
"How about I take you to get sushi?" He offered.
I scoffed, "Will it be the place where your ex works? Because if it is, I'll kick your ass. We're not doing this again, James." I threatened.
He scoffed. "That was one time, Button. One. You can calm yourself down, this is a new place that opened up like three weeks ago. Steve, Sam, and I have been wanting to go there but haven't had a chance. It'll be fun." He promised.
"Alright, then you've got yourself a deal, Mr. Man. But what if I just meet you there? My car is pretty full of my things at the moment…" I mumbled, looking around groaning.
"Where are you planning on staying exactly?" He asked, curiously as a truck pulled in behind me.
I sighed, "A hotel for now. Maybe at Nat and Clint's… I don't know. I'll figure it out even if I have to sleep in my car for the night." I replied, chewing on my lip.
"Are you kidding me? Please tell me you are kidding. You know you won't last a week at Clint's house, not with them boinking like animals… and your car? Why don't you just stay at my place? I do have room, you know." He pointed out.
"Bucky." I complained, groaning.
"Oh, Bunny, come on. You know I can't let you do this to yourself." He said.
I groaned knowing he's right. Silently cursing him for knowing me so well.
But that's what I get for becoming best friends with them. He knows me like the back of his hand. Can't hide anything from him.
"He's my brother, and she is like the sister I always wanted… I know you're going to laugh but ugh! I can't bear the thought or love with the fear of possibility of walking again into them fucking the shit out of each other on the couch again. I've seen more of my brother and his wife than I need to in this lifetime…" I muttered, pouting in disgust.
"Yeah, I know, I was there, remember? Anyways, open the hatch." He said tapping on the window, causing me to jump and drop my phone. "Sorry." He mouthed, cringing as I glared at him.
Sam and Steve hopped out of the truck, before making their way towards us.
"What are your friends doing here?" I asked, as I hopped out of the SUV.
"They're here to help." Bucky said as I walked over to him and his friends.
"Help? With what?" I asked frowning as he pulled me into a hug.
"Moving your things, of course." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Aw… Bucky, you don't have to do that… A hotel will be fine for now." I said.
"No, not a chance. I already decided to take you back to my place. I have an extra bedroom there, and I just replaced the bed in there too. So, you can stay until you want to…" he said, giving me a look.
I felt my eyes tear up as I looked at them, before nodding.
"Are you guys going to alright with that?" I asked, looking at them.
"It's his penthouse, Ari. I'm pretty sure we're okay with whatever he says." Steve said.
"I know, but you three do live there… I just don't want to... step on any toes…" I said as I felt Bucky hug me tighter.
"It's fine, Bunny. Don't worry about it." Bucky assured.
I looked at them suspiciously, before sighing in defeat, and nodding.
"We promise to be on our best behavior." Steve said, raising his hand in the air. "Scout's honor." He promised.
"Right… well, my things are in the back and middle seats. The rest I left back at the house because I couldn't fit it." I whispered.
Bucky turned to look at the back of the car before looking back at the guys. "How much more is left?" He asked me.
"Just the rest of my shoes, and coats, and my dog, Howie." I whispered, pouting.
Bucky stared at me before he laughed, shaking his head in response. "What type of dog is he?" He asked, biting his lip to hold back the laughter and amusement.
"A chocolate brown colored, long haired, Labrador. I used to have two but Chloe got sick, and passed away…" I whispered, looking away.
"Oh, Button, don't worry about it. Steve and Sam can go get the rest of you things tomorrow. Come in, let's go get some sushi." He said as he led me back to the SUV's passenger side.
Steve and Sam made quick work of getting my things into the back of the truck before they drove away.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Jamie? You might not like what you see." I teased.
"Can't be any worse than seeing your brother's naked ass or Nat's tw— oh nevermind." He muttered as he turned the SUV around and drove towards the restaurant. "It can't be any worse than what I've seen both Steve and Sam do..." He replied.
"You have no idea, Buck." I replied smirking back.
