At first it is just another star, a pinprick of light, albeit a new one, in the night sky of LV-491 that is dominated by the looming, ringed, gas giant neighbour planet. Sitting on the lawn outside his home amid the forested mountains, Ian feels the breath catch in his throat, his heart begin to beat faster, as the 'star' grows and grows, brighter and brighter, assuming a form like that of a whale born of a supernova as it descends. The distant thrum of powerful engines built by no human hand reaches him as the star-craft disappears behind the deeper blackness of the nearby forest. Without hesitation, Ian rises, rushes inside his house and into the room where his two and a half-year old twin children sleep. "Paul, Erin," he says gently, "don't be scared. We're going for a walk..."
OOOOOOOOOOOO
When she was born, her name was Mina. That is, until she was nine years old. Until she heard the name xenomorph. Until the creatures called that appeared and slaughtered her parents, her friends, everyone she knew at the colony where she had grown up.
By the time the Hunters, the Predators - they who called themselves Yautja - appeared and killed all the Kiande Amedha - 'Hard Meat', what they called the bugs, the xenomorphs - Mina was the only colonist still living and uninfected by the Hard Meat's spawn. It was Tha'ytap, the Leader of this Yautja pack, who found this lost, lonely little Ooman girl who had managed to survive against horrific odds; Tha'ytap who had adopted her into his clan, protected her, given her a new name befitting her new status...
Ta'si-An.
