The ride to the hospital was fast, Hank rode with Ryan as Hotch was transported in another one. The medics were trying their damndest to keep Ryan alive. Ryan was still in and out of it.
"Stay with us Ryan, think of Sophia. Think of your daughter. She needs you" Hank told the semi-conscious man. "Stay here for her and Adam, you're they're family"
He was starting to pull at the oxygen mask on his nose while trying to talk, Hank and the medic tried to keep the mask on his face.
"Ryan you gotta keep this on bud" Hank told him.
"If… if anything happens to me…. Adam is gonna need…you to help him with So…Sophia" Ryan gasped through the plastic mask, forcing it out of his way.
"They will always have me to protect them. Now keep this on" He was readjusting the mask.
"Wait...what about Aaron?"
"He's fine, he's banged up and is getting looked at, let's just worry about you"
Before Hank knew the back of the ambulance doors opened and soon Ryan was being taken out and rushed inside the hospital. He tried to keep up with him till they got in the elevator going up to the OR. Aaron had arrived with some minor bumps, bruises and scratches but otherwise fine, his main focus was his badly injured cousin.
"Sergeant, how's Ryan?" Was Aaron's first question to Hank once he was inside the ER.
"It looks like I got to him in time, they just rushed him up to surgery" Hank told him.
"Thank you for coming with me, I appreciate it"
"Ryan's family and nobody hurts my family"
Aaron gave a small rare smile. "Thank you, Sergeant"
"Call me Hank"
"Thank you Hank"
"You're welcome Aaron"
Aaron had gone to get looked over for any injury, Hank went back to his team. The others were pissed- highly pissed that Hank had gone off without telling them but at the same time they couldn't be too mad because they would have done the same thing. Sophia was awake and coloring in a coloring book and crayons Bob had gotten her from the gift shop, everyone had seen him but didn't know what to say neither did Bob.
Sophia closed her coloring and ran to Hank, he smiled and bent down to pick her up holding her protectively. "Hey beautiful, how are you doing?"
"I'm good grandpa. Are you ok?"
"I'm good sweetheart" He smiled, smoothing her light brown hair back.
Before anyone had said a word to Hank, Will had come out to the group. Everyone had looked at him, Bob had gone up to the surgeon.
"How's my son, doc?" Bob asked, a bit nervously.
"Adam is going to be just fine, I just checked on him his vitals are good. He's stable, breathing on his own. He's awake now and for the moment I'd recommend two visitors at a time. Hank, he's asking for you" Will told everyone.
Hank, Bob, and all of Intelligence had all let out sighs of relief knowing Adam will be just fine. The older Sergeant had passed Sophia over to Bob and had gone to see his officer.
Adam was in the bed, half awake and very groggy but knew where he was, what happened. Every time he tried to move, pain shot through his body.
"You shouldn't move too much" Hank told him from the door.
"Sarge…Ryan. Where's Ryan?" Adam asked, groaning in pain.
"Relax, he's fine. Aaron and I got to him, he's here in the hospital in surgery"
"What about…the guy…that took him?"
"You don't have to worry about him anymore. He's dead"
"Sophia?"
"She's with your father in the waiting room with the team, she's safe"
"Thank god"
"Do you want your dad to bring her in?"
"Please? I really wanna see her"
"I can do that. Rest and heal up kid" He gently patted his bed softly.
"Thanks Sarge. Can…can you check on Ryan for me?"
"Of course"
Hank had gone out to tell Bob that Adam had wanted to see him and Sophia, the other older man had nodded and took his granddaughter back there. Sophia bounced on her toes to her uncle's room.
Hank went to get some kind of an update on Ryan hoping the younger man will survive from that bloody and brutal ordeal at the hands of Foyet. He went and found Will.
"Hey doc, have you heard anything about Ryan?" Hank asked the older Halstead.
Will glanced up at him and finished a chart he was working on, he closed it then looked at Hank. "I heard a little nothing big but…"
