A week later, Harry was practically in heaven. The people, who he quickly learned were the Central City Rogues, had not only let him stay, had not only not been mad, but they had even taken him under their wing in a sense.
Leonard Snart was Captain Cold, a man who used cold guns to decrease the temperature of objects and even the air to freeze matter to absolute zero. Mick Rory was Heatwave, a pyrokinetic and a hotheaded pyromaniac that didn't like being a pyromaniac. Like it was a guilty pleasure. Sam Scutter was Mirror Master, an illusionist who utilized mirrors and could access a mirror dimension through ANY reflective surface.
James Jesse was The Trickster, a self made gadgeteer and the world's greatest con-man, he even developed shoes that allowed him to 'walk' on air. Lisa Snart was the Golden Glider and could fly and become intangible. She was also Leonard's brother and was dating Sam, leading Leonard to casually threaten Sam against upsetting her. George Harkness was Captain Boomerang and used several trick boomerangs and used them very well. Finally, Hartley Rathaway, the Pied Piper who used sound and sonic gadgets to pull off crimes.
The Rogues had been impressed not by Harry's powers since they had yet to see them, but rather they were impressed by Harry's morals and ability to stick to them. So the Rogues decided to teach him 'tricks of their trades.'
Leonard taught him how to lead people and implant ideas into people without his powers. Mick taught him about the science of fire, including fire safety and how to safely start one. Sam introduced Harry to light, reflection angles, and what else, mirrors. James taught him about the art of misdirection and gadgetry. Harry didn't really think he needed to use gadgets, but it was fun and interesting to learn regardless. Lisa taught him to ice skate in an open field thanks to her brother's cold guns. George taught him how to throw darts with precision, baseballs with power, and of course boomerangs with accuracy.
But Harry's favorite lessons came from Hartley. The man loved music as much as Harry did, if not more so. Hartley was pleased and impressed that Harry was able to easily play and maintain his flute. Of course Hartley asked Harry to give it back, but Hartley promised to get him a flute of his own.
Harry was initially worried that the Rogues wouldn't let Padfoot stay, but to both his and Padfoot's surprise, they would let Padfoot stay so long as Harry properly cared for the dog and took responsibility for it.
Eventually, the Rogues wanted to know how he managed to steal money so well. So Harry took the group and Padfoot to the junkyard where he practiced his powers. They were impressed by his focused sound beam and Trickster was especially giddy when he learned about Harry's skill at voice imitation. "So many tricks to pull!" he had said. They also liked how he got money on the street. Trickster was impressed with the deception Harry displayed when using his whistle to make people toss their wallets into the alley they were in. "They didn't even look! They just tossed their wallets and kept walking! Hilarious!" But at the same time, Piper looked thoughtful.
When he told them about his magic, they were a little skeptical, but when he sent a swarm of paper clips flying through the air silently, they were much less skeptical. Harry explained that he thinks his magic lets him control people, but then Hartley spoke up.
"Actually, when you speak to control people, I can hear a really low note in your voice. I don't think it's magic. I think your voice can hit a pitch that can carry commands that most don't hear."
"Then how do you hear it?" asked Harry.
"I was born deaf but I eventually got hearing aids that helped me. Eventually I improved them, and now I can hear a wider range of pitches. Some that most people can't hear." Hartley said
Harry knew that Hartley's birthday was coming up and decided to make something special for him. So he went to make a page of sheet music and wrote down the special melody that he had made.
When Piper's birthday came, Harry presented the sheet music for his melody. Hartley was shocked. "Your song? I can't take this. You made it, you should keep it." he said.
"You taught me. I just wanted to thank you. Besides, why would I make my own song and not share it for others to hear?" Harry replied.
Needless to say, Hartley's arguments were rendered pointless and he expressed his thanks with a strong hug. The Rogues were all touched by Harry's gesture of kindness, and asked Hartley to play it. When Hartley played the melody, the Rogues felt weirdly at peace, like there was not a thing to worry about. It gave them a feeling of belonging and completion.
When the song ended, George asked Harry "You really made that on your own?"
"Yeah."
"Kid, you really know your stuff." Lisa complimented.
"Thanks, but I owe a lot of it to all of you." Harry said. "I guess I just want to do more. To make an impact. Like all of you do."
The Rogues all shared a look with each other. In an unspoken agreement, they had all decided that Harry would be ready to join them on their 'jobs'.
The next day, Harry was asked to come down to the living room where the Rogues were all assembled. Harry was a little nervous as they looked very seriously at him. "Is something wrong?" he asked nervously.
Leonard spoke up. "We've been talking, and we need to ask you something."
"What?"
James replied. "Do you want to join us on our jobs?"
Before Harry could say anything, Mick said "Before you answer, you need to know that what we do is dangerous, and while you would start out away from the spotlight, you could still be hurt."
Lisa contributed with "We won't kick you out no matter what you choose. You don't have to do this at all if you don't want to. But we think you're ready."
Hartley finished with "So do you want to join us and become a Rogue?"
Harry had the beginnings of tears in his eyes and without hesitation, responded with a "Yes."
With that, the Rogues prepared to present to Central City their newest member: the Maestro.
Next week, Harry was in his new costume with the Rogues. His costume was like Pied Piper's with dark yellow coloring instead of black and a logo of a sound wave on his belt instead of the eighth note on Piper's belt.
Harry and the Rogues were looking at the bank across the street, the target of tonight's job. Harry would keep a lookout while the Rogues robbed the vault. Harry also had a police radio that Mirror Master managed to 'borrow' from a decommissioned squad car. Harry would be using his skills at voice mimicry to confuse the cops over the radio, sending them to the other side of town, and when the call came from the bank, he would send fake reports of the Rogues escaping through different streets all over the place.
Soon enough, it was time. Harry sent out a call about shots fired at the docks across town using a police officer's voice. Once the police were confirmed to be leaving using Mirror Master's abilities, the Rogues moved in. They busted down the door with Captain Cold yelling out "EVERYONE DOWN, NOW!"
Mirror Master went behind the desk and kept an eye on the cashiers so they didn't try to hit the silent alarm. At the same time, Trickster used his rubber chicken blow torch to burn through the door on one side while Heatwave melted through the door on the other side. Golden Glider went through the door to check inside and came out to confirm the money was in there.
All the while, a man in red with super speed was running to the docks to assist the police. Only when he got there did he realize he wasn't needed, as there was nobody but the police there. After zipping around checking everywhere did he confirm with Captain Singh that no crooks were there.
The captain yelled out to the assembled officers "Who called in the shots fired?" only to receive no response from anyone.
The Flash said "This must be a prank of some kind."
"But it was on the police band." Singh replied.
Flash thought for a moment, then asked "Are you missing any police radios?"
Singh replied "No."
At the same time, the Rogues were almost done with grabbing the cash when one of the cashiers hit the button for the silent alarm. The alert made it to the police as the Rogues were running out of the bank. Mirror Master asked Harry "Anything?"
"The call went out as you ran out here." was Harry's reply.
Captain Cold then told Harry "Then it's time to play some mind games. Kid, make some calls."
While the Rogues prepared for the Flash inevitably showing up, Maestro made false calls for help on the police band for places all over town. Then, as Maestro shut off the radio, the Flash made his entrance.
"Alright guys, we know how this is gonna go, so why don't we skip to the part where you all give up?" and with that, the battle began. Cold started freezing the floor while Trickster went up in the air. When Flash started slipping on the ice, Trickster dropped a 'hot potato bomb' from above him. Flash managed to spin his arms at superspeed and blow the bomb back at trickster, knocking him out of the air. Flash managed to get his grip on the ground back and ran to hit Cold, only to get hit by fire, courtesy of Heatwave.
Maestro looked on in amazement. It was one thing to hear what happened, it's another thing to see it. The Rogues were a true team, showing skill and working together with practiced ease.
Eventually, Captain Cold managed to freeze Flash to the floor long enough for Mirror Master to create a portal to the mirror dimension and get everyone but Maestro through it. Maestro looked in confusion until Mirror Master pulled him through a portal from behind him. The police had finally arrived, but it was to late. The Rogues got away scott free.
Harry looked amazed at the Rogues having finally seen them in action. "You guys were amazing!" he said.
"Glad you liked the show." was James's reply.
They all went into the hideout, tired but very happy, only to be surprised by the shaggy haired man walking out of the bathroom.
All the man could say was "Uhhh… hi?"
Okay, so I really liked the ideas that you all gave me, but I couldn't really find one that really worked. So thank you, all of you, but I'm going with Maestro.
Also I hope that the beginning part if the story clears up any confusion about the characters.
Also I have no idea how to make good fight scenes, so I hope the fight was okay.
Finally the melody is the Harry Potter theme song from the movies.
Keep all criticism constructive and have a wonderful day.
