Johnny Cage watched, horrified at the spark of light, caused by when the missile's head collided against the ground. He was consumed by the intense heat that it produced, and then he felt his feet lift high off the ground as a piece of shrapnel propelled itself into his shoulder. His vision became distorted as he felt his entire body flip in mid air. The spinning world came to a sudden halt as he collided hard against a solid layer of bricks. He shouted in agony. He instantly felt blood dripping from his forehead. He ran one of his hands along his hairline, and when he gazed back down at it, it was covered in blood. His eyes then quickly shifted to the traumatic scene before him. Jax had landed closely beside him, and he was screaming at the top of his lungs. Blood was spraying from his wounds like a lawn sprinkler. The impact of the missile had blown both his right, and left arms completely from his body. Sub-Zero had made his way to his feet, and ran to Jax's side. Johnny caught a look at Sub-Zero's face. A deep gash on his face was also leaking blood. It looked like some shrapnel had caught him pretty good as well.
Johnny's attention shifted over to Jarek who was struggling to lift himself from the ground. Johnny then peered over at where Kabal had stood, and the sight was horrible. Kabal's leg, and arm had been blown off from his body. What remained of him was mostly charred, blistered, and smoking. Johnny forced himself up as fast as he could, and moved in to get a closer look. It was horrifying. Most of Kabal's hair had been withered away, and what remained of his face stared up at the hellish sky with a blank expression. One of his eyes had turned a murky, milk colored white.
"No! No!" Johnny heard Jarek cry. Soon they were standing next to each other. Upon getting a closer look at Kabal's roasted corpse, Jarek grabbed his stomach tightly, and immediately turned away to vomit. He collapsed to his knees, and was sobbing. Johnny turned back to Sub-Zero who had layered Jax's wounds in thick sheets of ice in an attempt to cauterize the damage. Johnny then turned back to the terrifying robot in the distance. It was slowly making it's way closer to them through the flames.
"You need to get to Shang Tsung now!" Sub-Zero ordered hotly as his eyes stared down the approaching robot. Johnny pulled the sobbing Jarek to his feet.
"Jackson won't make it if you don't hurry!" Sub-Zero warned. Johnny didn't need to be told twice. Johnny grabbed the now unconscious Jax by his shoulders, and pulled with all his might. He was struggling to move with how heavy Jax's limp body dragged against the floor.
"Jarek c'mon I need you!" Johnny shouted over to Jarek who's eyes were bloodshot. He shook his head, and looked back over at Kabal's body in defeat. Johnny frowned at the sad scene before him.
"Jarek!" Johnny called out again. This time Jarek listened. He slowly came forward, and grabbed Jax by the legs. Together the two hauled him upwards, and started moving away from the destruction.
"Are you coming?" Johnny called out to Sub-Zero. He didn't reply.
Sub-Zero kept his gaze on Sektor as he continued his marching. Sektor had to take him alive. Sub-Zero knew he was no use to the Lin Kuei's cyber initiative dead. Eventually Sektor stood just a few meters away. His soulless gaze met Sub-Zero's icy stare.
"I was wondering when you would find me. Cyrax had tried to capture me, but he failed." Sub-Zero informed.
"You are to come with me to begin your transformation." Sektor's heavily modulated voice echoed out to him.
"Where is Smoke? Did you capture him?" Sub-Zero asked. Sektor didn't react at all to his questions.
"I repeat. You are to come with me to begin your transformation." Sektor said again.
"You are not so different from when you were human." Sub-Zero spoke.
"Final warning. You are to come with me to begin your transformation. Further resistance will result in drastic measures." Sektor warned emotionlessly. Sub-Zero decided he would play along.
"Very well. I submit." He said raising his hands to show his compliance. Sektor moved in closer to apprehend Sub-Zero, and when Kuai felt Sektor's cold, metallic touch he slammed an ice encased fist across his head. Sektor stumbled backwards from the hit as the sound of metal clanked. Kuai saw Sektor's head snap to look at him violently. Sub-Zero charged, and delivered both of his feet to Sektor's chest. The impact sent Sektor flying to the ground. Sub-Zero stood from the drop kick, and saw Sektor reach his arms over his head, lay his palms flat against the ground, bend his arms, and then kick his legs out to spring up to his feet. Before Sektor could move, Sub-Zero lounged for him again, and sent a flurry of continuous kicks to either side of Sektor's abdomen.
Kuai threw a hard swing that Sektor had ducked. Sektor's immediately impacted a hard, solid fist up into Sub-Zero's chin that lifted him from the ground, and planted him on his back. Sektor then attempted a bone crushing stomp, but Kuai had rolled out of the way in the knick of time. Kuai brushed his leg against the ground, and caught Sektor's legs, tripping him. Sub-Zero mounted Sektor's chest, and slammed his icy fist repeatedly against Sektor's head. Sektor eventually was able to duck, and weave the oncoming attacks, and bash a metallic elbow against Sub-Zero's jaw. Kuai was rocked, but tried his best to recover. His shaky vision caught Sektor approaching again with another vicious elbow.
Sub-Zero ducked the attack and planted a stone cold fist into Sektor's metallic chest armor. Sektor showed no effects of the strike, and caught Kuai's face with a quick roundhouse kick. Kuai landed on his back, but instinctively rolled to get to his feet. Kuai saw that his attacks so far had not damaged his foe, and decided that he must use his cyromancy abilities to gain an edge in this fight.
He quickly focused his energy, and shot a blast of ice to encase Sektor into a frozen, cybernetic mass of ice. Thinking the fight was over, Kuai approached his defeated advisory, only to find that the ice was melting slowly. He gazed upon Sektor, and saw that a strange barrel shaped figure had emerged from both of his wrists. Suddenly the ice that held Sektor exploded, and fire was spewing in every direction. Sektor once again stood, and approached Kuai Liang.
Sub-Zero had stumbled back in shock, but did manage to avoid Sektor's next flurry of attacks, but what happened next was quite unexpected. Kuai had charged with a lunging knee strike, only to find that somehow his attack had missed entirely. Sektor had vanished from the scene completely, and Kuai searched the area rapidly with eyes. Those same eyes were soon closed in pain as he felt a brutal, head shaking impact collide with the bottom of his jaw. He flew high into the air, and then thudded against the ground, and Sektor had reemerged standing over him.
Sub-Zero looked up at him dazed. He got a good look into Sektor's lifeless, soulless, cybernetic eyes. He knew him once, but now nothing of the man behind the cybernetics remained. If Smoke had suffered the same fate, Kuai didn't even want to think. A feeling of peace overcame Kuai, As he stared up at Sektor. Sub-Zero noticed something strange. A black, shadowy figure had summoned itself behind Sektor. Kuai couldn't make out any of it's features, but he noticed that whatever essence it was made of was infecting Sektor's body. Eventually the shadowy figure disappeared entirely inside of Sektor. Confused, Kuai watched as Sektor stepped away to distance himself. Sektor had opened a keyboard on his wrist, and began typing frantically, then he began grunting repeatedly, and his cybernetic form began contriving in a malfunctioning fashion. The scene ended with Sektor's body exploding in a combustion of oil, and blood. His metallic parts littered the ground. His helmet rolled upwards beside Kuai. Kuai lifted the helmet up, and looked back as an essence of black streamed away from the impact zone.
