Rey had given her conference schedule to Ben ahead of time so he would know when she would be arriving home. Looking through her emails, she is delighted to discover she now only has one closing conference and can leave home early. Leave to see her plant babies and her Ben. Her Ben who will soon know all her feelings for him and hopefully confirm how he feels about her. She can't let any more time slip away.
The last conference is over quicker than Rey had expected. She says her goodbyes and quickly calls for a taxi. Once she's inside, Rey sends a picture of herself smiling in the backseat to Ben.
Knowing Rey would be arriving home today, Ben can't help but be thrilled to have her return. The week went by as speedily as it could but it still wasn't fast enough for Ben. He decided to surprise her and help spruce up her house and even had dinner cooking ahead in anticipation of her arrival this evening. A nice pot roast to welcome her home. As he finishes setting the pot roast in the pressure cooker and attends to more house cleaning, he is surprised when he hears his phone ding. Ben picks it up and is shocked by her marvelous selfie and the caption, "See you soon," with a heart emoji.
The excitement Ben feels is unlike anything he's ever felt in his life. He dances about the home and sings to all the plants. Beforelong, he hears keys in the lock of the front door. Ben rushes over and stands at the door just as it opens up. Before he can say anything, he is pushed back slightly and feels small but strong arms wrap around his waist. He chuckles and is about to voice his welcome home words to Rey when she does something which shocks them both. She reaches up on her tiptoes, grabs his face in her hands, and pulls him in for a kiss.
Rey breaks the kiss too soon and blushes a deep crimson read. Her apologetic words come out in shy mumbles but stop when she feels Ben's fingers tuck some loose strands of hair behind her ear. She looks up at him and feels her heart race from how he looks at her. Ben smiles down at her warmly and steps towards her, closing the gap as his hand cups her cheek lovingly. Rey nuzzles into his hand and smiles back. He leans down and tenderly kisses her lips, melting into it as she kisses him back. His hands slide around her waist and he lifts her gently up into the air.
When he sets her back down, they whisper the three little words they've said for so many years through touches, looks, and now these pictures but never out loud. They grin at each other and kiss again. Their love for each other has been growing for years but now it has finally bloomed to show a perfect, beautiful blossom: Rey and Ben.
