Standing in Ground Beta and waiting for the students of Class 1-A to arrive, Stygian idly wonders about his meeting with Burnin later in the day. They'd barely spoken when they originally met, despite being paired together during the raid to balance each other's temperatures, and they hadn't really spoken much after the fact, so he's left to wonder why she suddenly approached him and asked to meet up.
Having looked up the address last night, he was brought to a page about a place he knew quite well. It was a 24 hour cafe that catered to both Civilians and Heroes, being able to make good coffee in record times so that it didn't interfere with patrol schedules. Many members of the UA staff, including himself, Aizawa, and even Nezu, frequented the place both on and off duty, so it had quickly become quite popular, but the staff always managed to meet the rising demand without a dip in speed or quality.
Seeing the students arriving, Stygian shakes himself out of his thoughts and focuses on them. Even if he isn't an official teacher, he needs to be ready to help guide them if they need assistance. As such, he observes them to pick up any details that might be useful, be it their personalities, their Hero Costumes, or even the way they interact with their peers.
He frowns to himself when he sees Todoroki. The boy has completely closed himself off from the other students. Not only that, but he's covered his entire left side in ice, seemingly symbolizing a rejection of his fire. While Stygian can understand why he'd do that, he knows that such a thing will only hurt him in the future.
All Might lets out a boisterous laugh, "Welcome students! Today we begin the process of easing you into the realm of Quirked combat! While Aizawa may have tested the limits of how you can use your Quirk yesterday, today we will see how adeptly you can use that Quirk in combat situations!"
Stygian raises an eyebrow at the repetitive explanation, stepping forward to further explain, "We'll be splitting you into teams of two and pairing teams to face off in a round for a total of five rounds. Each team will be given a differing set of objectives that if they can complete they'll be given the victory for the round. Don't worry too much about who wins or loses, as that won't affect your grades, but I recommend you try your hardest because slacking or making your partner do all the work will mean a bad grade for you. And I sincerely doubt any of you want to start the year off like that."
Stygian steps forward while removing his sunglasses, his expression deadly serious, "Let me make one thing clear to all of you. This is sparring, these battles are simulations for training purposes. If I see any of you using excessive, or, gods forbid, lethal force, you're answering to me. Got that?"
The class give their affirmatives, many with shaking voices and jumpy nerves.
An easy smile appears on Stygian's face as he replaces his sunglasses, "Great! Glad we're on the same page!"
Moving forward, the teams are formed. The first combination to undergo the exercise being Midoriya and Uraraka as the Heroes with Bakugou and Iida as the Villains. Their exercise is based on a hostage situation.
Three hostages are hidden in the building and the Heroes need to either free them or capture the Villains while the Villains either need to capture the Heroes or run down the ten minute timer. There are way to stop the exercise early though, such as the Heroes freeing two hostages and capturing one Villain, etc. However, if a hostage is harmed by any side the exercise will stop immediately with the offending team being docked points for doing so.
At the beginning all seems well, even if Bakugou and Iida are having issues with teamwork, but that doesn't last long. Everything starts going downhill the moment Bakugou encounters the opposing team, with him immediately going on the offensive with an aggressive series of attacks.
Seeing the way Bakugou an Midoriya are acting, as well as the fact that all of the attacks are aimed at Midoriya, Stygian can immediately tell there's some bad blood there. Cursing under his breath, he hopes that Bakugou can keep himself under control and not bring the whole building down on top of them.
His hopes are severely misplaced, as Bakugou's explosions only seem to get larger and larger. And then he pulls the worst card he possibly could. As soon as the boy starts explaining his gauntlets Stygian bolts from the room to put a stop to the fight.
On the screen, the class watches in horror as Bakugou pulls the pin and sends a massive blast down the hallway and directly at Midoriya. When the smoke clears, multiple sets of eyebrows go up as they see Midoriya entirely unharmed. The cause is soon made apparent however as Stygian comes into view, visibly pissed.
Before Bakugou can even think to say anything in his own defense, his entire body up to his neck is encased in ice. Without a word, Stygian lifts Bakugou (without so much as breaking a sweat) and begins carrying him back to the viewing room, Midoriya and the others in tow.
Upon returning to the viewing room Stygian unceremoniously drops the teen, the ice coating his body shattering on impact.
The boy grunts in pain, "Hey!-"
Before he can go further Stygian is in his face, eyes almost glowing with rage, "Do you have any idea just how badly that could've gone? How much danger you put yourself and everyone else in? You could've gotten everyone in that building killed. You're going straight to the principal, and he and Aizawa can decide if you'll even be allowed to continue in this course."
Familiar gray strips of cloth surround Bakugou before he's pulled over to Aizawa.
The man glares down at Bakugou, "I couldn't have said it better myself Stygian. He could do with a lesson or two in taking responsibility for his actions."
And with that, they leave. Afterward the lesson continues smoothly with no more life threatening scenarios in sight.
As Stygian makes his way back to the teacher's lounge to gather his things, he takes a moment to wonder if every day will be as shit as this one.
