The large beast swung his limb to hit the super sized Akimichi clan head who was trying his best to keep it occupied. Fugaku used his mangekyo Sharingan on the beast and managed to trap it in a genjutsu, making the beast still in its place. Minato finally used this opportunity to jump from the high building he was currently standing on and skewer the beast with a giant rasengan, completely going through the beast, making it fall to the ground, lifeless. The beast had been a summon, this much was clear. But he needed to know who that mysterious man was who had summoned such a massive foe. To summon something this massive would require the chakra reserves rivalling those of the legendary Sannin. Anyone with that level of training was a certain threat to Konoha.
"Hokage-san, the beast had been defeated but the fight is not over yet. The Chuunin Teams have successfully confronted the summoner and are currently fighting him in the fourth sector of the village." Fugaku said to his former teammate.
Minato nodded and started to follow the elder Uchiha to the site of the second battle.
When they arrived they saw a large towering man, surrounded by the Konoha 12, successfully dodging a majority of the attacks but also managing to deal out jutsu after jutsu without showing any fatigue or signs of chakra drainage.
Minato immediately threw his teleportation kunai and closed the distance between the man and himself, and swung his fists which again went right through the man who now switched his attention to the hokage.
"That damned beast was supposed to keep you occupied for much longer, that damned Orochimaru promised me much more destruction."
Minato stepped back and tried to assess the situation. The teams seemed to be exhausted meaning they had been battling for a long time, why would he just stay here and fight chuunins rather than help his summoning in causing more destruction?
"Surprised why I would waste my energy fighting these children rather than fighting you myself?"
Minato's eyes widened. This man read him pretty well.
"The answer is quite simple. Him." The man pointed at Fugaku Uchiha, who had taken a defensive stance behind the hokage, ready for an impending attack.
"Fugaku. Uchiha. Head of the Uchiha clan. One of the founding clans of this godforsaken village, and a pillar to the divide between the civilians and the shinobi in this village. Your clan members took everything from me. Now all I need from you is your audience, as I return the favour."
The man moved at a flickering speed and appeared right in front of Sasuke Uchiha, who had somewhat perceived the attack with the help of the sharingan and raised his hand in defence.
In a speed not imaginable for many except for the fourth hokage himself, the man took out Sasuke's swords from his sheathe and drove it straight through his chest, then kicked him back as he was still processing the shock of being impaled.
Sasuke slid back still managing to keep his balance, but quickly fell to his knees coughing blood from his mouth, the bright part of his onyx eyes slowly losing their shine, as he looked like he was about to lose consciousness at any moment.
"SASUKE" Naruto shouted as he immediately ran to his side, helping him to keep himself upright, the bright red elixir of life flowing from the fresh wound in his chest.
"Slowly I will destroy every single pillar that holds up this village. I will make every shinobi feel the same loss that I felt. This was just a taste of my power, but I expect to see you all very soon." Kizashi said as he slowly faded from the vision of the shinobis, vanishing from the scene entirely.
Sasuke's body was becoming colder and colder by the minute. Fugaku's expressions were as though he had just seen the reaper himself, he was clearly in shock, still trying to process what was happening.
Sakura's mind went into healer mode immediately, assessing the wound on Sasuke's body and started pressing her healing hands to the wound. Suddenly her mind stopped her. What was she doing? Why was she helping the murderers of her mother? The green light on her hand flickered for a moment but she felt the immense guilt of ever letting such thoughts sully her mind. How could she ever think of the boy who had done so much for her, in such a way? How could she ever even think of such a thing, when he was so vulnerable, when he needed her more than ever? She would think of everything else later but no matter what, Sasuke-kun would be Sasuke-kun for her and she would pull together the heaven and earth trying to save him.
With that thought the green light became brighter than ever and Sasuke's body became less pale than before. He still wasn't out of the danger zone but at least now his death was no longer certain.
"GET TSUNADE SENJU HERE, NOW!" The Uchiha Clan head shouted at one of the other chuunins, who flickered away immediately, heeding his order.
Sakura would have to perform an impromptu surgery right on this rooftop if Sasuke was to survive. She needed to join together any vital organs that had been pierced by the blade.
"How is he, Sakura? How is he doing?" Fugaku asked her with panic in his voice.
Sakura didn't know why, but hearing his voice right now made her angry and she could not afford to make mistakes right now.
"I need to focus right now. Please stop talking." Sakura said without turning her head.
Fugaku was stunned by the apathy in her voice but chose to remain silent, letting her do what she would think best for his son right now.
Tsunade arrived on the scene soon after that and immediately began assisting Sakura.
"Have you already started to regrow the tissue damaged by the injury?"
"Yes, Shishou."
"Then, I cannot intervene anymore, if you stop supplementing chakra he will bleed out and die. The best I can do right now is provide you with as much Chakra as you need. I believe in you Sakura. You need to help him."
Sakura nodded and kept healing Sasuke. Naruto, Minato and Fugaku were the only ones left as spectators while Tsunade replenished Sakura's falling Chakra levels.
After a long time, Sakura's hands finally stopped glowing and she retreated her hands from the body of her unconscious teammate, satisfied that he was out of mortal danger long enough to get a proper medical centre.
The underside of her palms were burnt from the constant flow of Chakra and as soon as she got up she immediately felt light headed as she leaned on her master for support. She would soon need medical attention herself for the over exhaustion she had faced.
Naruto and Minato jointly picked up Sasuke as Fugaku followed them and took him to the Konoha Hospital, followed by Tsunade who was helping a half unconscious Sakura. Sakura closed her eyes and let herself be carried by her master completely.
Sakura woke up in a hospital bed, her head still heavy not only from the over exhaustion that came from healing Sasuke but the revelations that she had to face. Knowing her father was still alive, knowing that he probably hated her now and that her mother was left to die because of her civilian status a single tear fell from her eyes as the thoughts of facing her father came back to her mind.
Sakura got up from her bed and walked out of the room they had kept her in. She knew Sasuke's wounds would put him in critical danger so he was probably placed in an intensive care room in another wing of the building.
As she made her way through the halls she had learnt like the back of her palm, the words of her father still rang through her heads. Could she still continue this life, knowing what she knew now? She had been unknowingly waking up and sleeping surrounded by conspirators of her mother's death. Thinking of the Uchiha fan made her feel agitated.
She reached long corridor of the intensive care rooms, the entire hospital was almost empty except for some nurses here and there who knew Sakura already. She peered into the other rooms until she found the one where Sasuke was kept. She walked into the room and noticed that the seats around the bed on which Sasuke lay were looking like they had been recently sat in. His parents or Naruto must have been here recently.
Sakura went by his bed and looked at the monitor beeping constantly. All the things looked in order and he seemed to be relatively safe. A cold wave of relief finally washed over Sakura. Even though everything Uchiha was currently conflicting her right now, everything in her head went silent as soon as she saw Sasuke. He was her teammate, her friend and so much more. He was there for her in her lowest moments and most importantly he was now safe.
Sakura leaned down and kissed his forehead as a final reminder to herself that he was safe and alive. She placed a hand around his face, studying the calm expression he had as he was sleeping.
No matter what else happened, she would always be there for Sasuke and having something to be sure about in such an uncertain time for her, made her feel calm for a moment.
