I stared in horror as my twin approached Serenity who was some distance away. With her injured leg she could not hope to get away and there was no way that I could reach her in time.
My heart was in my feet.
"Sera," I choked. "No, please."
Nicol laughed: "Now watch Ugin as I take the one thing that you seem to love away from you."
"Nicol!" I roared, as I used all of my strength to get to them.
I watched in horror as Nicol Bolas's hand reached toward the fallen Serenity, and then he touched her head…
"Ugin Ugin!" I heard Serenity's voice calling me as I began to wake.
"No Serenity!" I gasped, arching my back to sit up.
"Ugin, are you okay?" She asked me. I looked at her, she was sitting awkwardly on my chest, her face full of worry.
"You were tossing and turning, are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?"
Yes I did, but I do not care to repeat it," I said pressing her tightly against me. I was afraid to let her go, that even now something would harm her.
Serenity nodded, but her face was full of worry. I lay back down on my back, trying to relax.
"Are you alright?" Sera asked me gently.
"Yes, I am fine, please don't worry yourself, just get some rest with me, but would you do me a favor?"
"Yes, what is it?" Sera asked.
"Just snuggle close to me, and hold me."
Sera nodded, and complied with my wish. I cast a quick spell to help her get to sleep. Once she was asleep I lay trying to calm my heart. Nicol was dead, he was not coming back, but these thoughts were not helping to ease my fears. I just could not ease the fear that something awful was going to happen to Serenity that I could not prevent, and that it had to do with my twin. After a long time I finally was able to rest, but I held Serenity as close as I could to my heart to keep her safe.
I was very worried about Ugin. I have known him for a while. He was my adoptive father. I had never seen him this worried or upset. I wanted to help, but he did not tell me what was going on other than a nightmare, whatever it was it had really upset him. I hoped that my being close to him would help him. When he asked me to, I hugged him as tight as I could. I hoped that it was enough to comfort him as I began to fall asleep from his spell.
