After the trial of Bucky Barnes, public opinion of both Steve and Tony has declined drastically. Tony hires a savvy publicist to boost their image, also calling up an old friend to help spin a tale that will win back America's heart. Meanwhile, Steve struggles with his depression and with the notion that the American people are rallying against him and actively planning attacks.

Sometimes, after a hard, long mission, the Winter Soldier starts remembering. Most often, he remembers Steve. Rumlow happens to be there when he does. Slight spoilers for Civil War.

So our favourite winter soldier gets an impetus towards remembering and runs off to a foreign country to hide with no specific plan. He manages to meet a number of nice and genial people but ends up living with a not-so-nice and caring person. Opening the door to his dorm room, seeing a walking stick-figure drawing on the walls with a sharpie marker, and finding that he'd been left with the bed on the right, had him less than pleased. His roommate, however, smiled and said, "dia duit." Bucky ignored him, dropped his stuff onto the bed, and texted Nat. "Hello?" His roommate tried, accent mangling the word.

Sometimes he has dreams where he is not The Winter Soldier (feared assassin) nor is he James Barnes (historical sidekick). First, before all of the others, he is a woman who kneels at Death's feet and fights to save her husband's life. (BB/SR, Post CA:TWS, Reincarnation fic, WIP)

It seemed that not one woman noticed Steve until after the miracle serum... Except one exceptional doctor that was one huge mystery to him. She had only talked with him for a few minutes at an enlistment office she happened to be at and ever since that day, Steve's life was never the same again... The story about how Bucky and his best girl got together along with helping Steve getting the one he wants to notice him. There is also a mentioning of Loki's attack on Manhattan Island. There is also a lot of humor thrown in just to get everyone's goat.

Sam's not exactly sure how his life turned out this way, but he can't say he minds.
