A collection of drabbles about the childhoods of Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin, mostly from the POV of minor hobbit characters. Where possible I try to stick to Tolkien's canon, but obviously much is my own invention. After all, we know very little about hobbits!

Merry watches over Pippin at Cormallen on Pippin's birthday. This actually takes place during chapter 1 of my story "Kingly Gifts", and expands on the day. I suppose you could call it a gap-filler for a gap-filler. (Written in 2005, as a special request from Marigold.)

Not being human has its advantages. The improve sight; hearing and smell are handy, making my prey easier to catch and kill. Being an apex predator removes the feeling of guilt for killing. I'm strong, female, on a dangerous quest and in love. Legolas OC

In Back to Middle-earth Month 2011, I wrote a sestina about Merry at Cormallen; that sestina was written first, and then I decided to make a series of it, so I did one for Pippin in the LOTR challenge a month later. I plan to do one for Sam and for Frodo as well at some point.
