AN: Yo! Your average writer here. I've decided to return to my roots and kick-start this Fairy Tail fanfiction. I've had one on the site called "Decaying Sun." However, I deleted almost a year and a half ago. I can somehow still find it on another website, but after a while, I never brought it back. The reason is that I wasn't too fond of how I was writing it and how slightly OP I made my MC. I was going to have him utilize about 5 Dragon Slayer magics, and I kind of just wrote that as an experiment, but with my writing improving a bit, I decided to start a fresh story.

Fairy Tail has a lot of unexplored content, such as lost arts, different slayer magics, etc., so this might be a fairly lengthy story as I will be making characters with God and Devil Slayer magic.

Anyway, with that said, I hope you all enjoy this story.

Oh yeah, cliche Dragon Slayer OC but I promise he'll be different from the norm. He won't have an exceed, but he will have something similar to one.

This is a Harem (this isn't new for a Fairy Tail fanfic. The women are hot. (And the men, too, for the women out there.)

Those who are not in the harem are the Fairy Tail ladies. Erza, Lucy, Cana, Mirajane, Juvia etc. Juvia might be, but I already have a few planned anyway.

Open to suggestions. Give a decent reason tho. If you're reading Fairy Tail 100YQ, then Misaki and Kyria are in it.

Fairy Tail: Shattered Bone

Chapter 1

July 6th X777

In a desolate area, nothing but bones could be seen. It looked like a graveyard. No life could exist in such a place; the air was thick with isolation, and the only living thing here was the passing Vultures with occasional cawing.

Yet, despite the eerie silence that filled the graveyard, a large figure was stretching its wings, if they could be called wings. They were made of pure, white bones. It was a large creature that demanded respect and praise.

A Dragon.

Its scales were a pallid shade of white, with no other features besides its bone wings and spear-like tail. It had a cream-colored abdomen and haunted black pupils. Its face was shaped in a rounded fashion, with a sharp snout. Its teeth were chalk white but looked polished as if scrubbed for days.

This was the Bone Dragon, Koros.

Koros has been alive for over six hundred years. He was remarkably old but retained his youth due to bone magic. Despite his bones becoming frail, his bones remained youthful. He is immune to most poisons. However, he can be poisoned by Poison Dragons.

"Hey, Old Man! I've returned," A voice called out to the Bone Dragon. Koros would've reprimanded anyone who would call him "Old Man," but the person who said this was his adopted Son, Akuji.

Akuji was a fifteen-year-old with an air of coolness to him. He had sleek, dark brown skin with a scar across the bridge of his nose. He had jet-black hair tied into a man bun, and the bun part was ivory white. Akuji had thin eyebrows and amber-colored eyes. He sported no shirt wear, only wearing baggy black pants tucked into high-top golden brown boots, with the tip of the boots being steel plated. His lean figure was crafted with years of beguiling training, leaving him with a decent body and a four-pack of abs.

"Akuji, you've returned earlier than expected. I hope your task was successful?"

Koros spoke with an air of class but nonchalance as well. However, His adoptive Son spoke cooly and lax, making some people despise him or fun to be around. It was a matter of opinion and said people. Koros remained in solitude, having waited four hundred years for this very moment. At first, he only trained Akuji due to the abundance of Ethernano within his container. Koros studied Akuji from a very young age, not even four years old., Akuji unknowingly absorbs more Ethernano than necessary, almost becoming an ocean of it.

This caused problems, such as too much power within a basic spell. When Akuji first used "Bone Dragon's Roar!" he overpowered it, causing the land to suffer. This area was the result, becoming a home for both of them. Akuji managed to keep his Ethernano in check after years of training and a strict regiment he followed whenever Koros wished to sleep for a few weeks. Akuji was left with tasks to handle during Koros's long sleep periods.

"It was very easy, pops. Although everyone seems to like calling me Vulture."

Koros raised an invisible brow. Koros always told Akuji to refrain from using his Dragon Slayer Magic mindlessly, but it seems Akuji will always have some faults. Perfect beings don't exist. Even Gods have mistakes, possibly the biggest. However, that is not for Koros to judge. He is not a God.

"You do eat bones like it's a snack. It was inevitable humans would start calling you after an animal that eats bone marrow," Koros spoke calmly.

"I blame you for teaching me your magic. I can't help that bones are grossly delicious now," Akuji responded with a soft chuckle as he scratched his ear.

"Don't blame me for that," Koros said with a shake. "Anyway, my boy, it's time."

Akuji's confident posture morphed into a visibly depressed slant. He knew why Koros trained him, so Akuji had a promise to fulfill. He didn't wish for this day to come by. He'd like today to last forever, but time can't be fiddled with. It can only move forward in one direction.

"I understand, Dad, but do you have to seal yourself within me? Wouldn't your freedom be revoked?"

Koros remained silent for a time, his mouth opened, and a beastly sigh escaped. "It's either that, or you'll have to consume me to become a fifth-generation Dragon Slayer."

Akuji visibly cringed as he remembered the lessons he learned about each generation of Dragon Slayer. Akuji was highly reactive to the fifth generation. Akuji knew if this was being taught, they existed somewhere out there. If Akuji ever met one, he'd probably kill them on the spot. He could only hope that day doesn't come by.

"Right…anyway. It's to stop me from turning into a Dragon. Why would I not want that?"

Koros sat on his rear legs. He brought a hand to his snout and scratched it slowly. Akuji didn't want the Bone Dragon to be sealed away, especially for his sake. If possible, Akuji would reevaluate all his options before picking one off the bat. Koros was grateful that Akuji was a very astute and cool-headed kid. The other Dragon Slayers Koros had the pleasure of meeting were…a funny bunch. The two who seemed level-headed amongst them was the brat that Koros's old friend, Skiadrum, trained and Grandeeney's child.

"It's a painful process, my boy, and I saw firsthand how it happens. It happened to the Queen Of Dragons. You remember her, don't you?"

"Oh right, Irene Belserion? One of my tasks is to find and stop her from helping Zeref."

Koros nodded rigidly. "She's already gone down a path of sorrow. I'm afraid all I can do is pass this burden to you. However, if I recall, she has a daughter who she left somewhere. Her daughter will not know who her mother is, so it's up to you to tell her such information."

"Right. The next task is to help the little brats that'll arrive, right?"

"Correct, they'll all be younger than you, so, as their senior, it's optional to train them. Wendy, for one, was taught support and enchantment spells with some of the basic offensive spells. I'd start with the young maiden."

"What was her last name? Marvell? I think I'll take it as well."

Koros shook his head at the thought of his Son taking someone's last name without their permission or proper documents. Akuji has always been laid back and didn't care about most things. Humans will always judge a book by its cover before reading the story's contents. Dragons were similar, so Koros couldn't fully blame Humans.

"Taking the young maidens name seems a bit too much, don't you think?" Koros asked, trying to gauge why his Son made this decision.

"I believe I would have a deeper connection with the kid if I took her last name. She's the Sky Dragon Slayer. She must be a sweet girl."

Koros could understand now. Akuji has always felt isolated by everyone. Bone Magic was rare and would be seen as unruly and offputting as it was usually associated with Dark Mages. However, despite all that, Akuji would always use his Bone Magic with pride. Otherwise, what would be the point of having it? Why reject it? It would only cause issues in the future.

"I see. Very well then, from here on, you're Akuji Marvell."

Akuji gave a lopsided grin as he tilted his head a bit, a common habit he possessed besides eating bones. To most people, the head tilt was weird. Wouldn't he have neck pain?

If only they knew.

"Any more tasks?"

"None from my end. You'll be on your own now. Get stronger, eat, and rest well. Resting is a key part of training, as with any other training method," Koros began solemnly as his eyes met Akuji's. "Don't forget the Taboo!"

Akuji's gaze hardened, and he responded with a nod to show he understood. The Taboo is related to his magic. His magic is Bone Dragon Slayer Magic. Any bone he consumes will give him added effects in battle. As such, Koros has clarified that human bones should not be eaten at any cost. Akuji heeded these words as law and vowed never to let his resolve die.

"When will you begin the sealing ritual?"

"Right now. The faster we begin, the better chance you get to meet your juniors."

And with that, Koros and Akuji went into a state of silence and unspoken words as they took in the area they call home. They traveled from place to place, but this boneyard was their true definition of home. It didn't matter if it looked dead or the air was thick with dread. As long as its home, it did not matter the state.

July 7th X778

"Hey, you hear about Salamander destroying another town hall?"

"Ha! Kid has some destructive potential but is still green. What guild is he in?"

"Fairy Tail, from what I hear."

"Aren't they the number one guild in Fiore?"

"Shut your trap! Phantom Lord is the best!"

A figure who sat away from all the turbulent shouting looked at everything keenly. Thanks to his increased hearing, he listened in on all the small talk within this Bar—the perfect place to find crucial and hidden information.

They sported no shirt, showing off the dense abs he worked hard to get with matching baggy gray pants, a black belt that weaved through the waist, and black, high-top, steel-toed boots. His hair was a messy-style man bun, with the bun being white and the rest being jet black. The scar across his nose made him a delinquent outlook to some people.

What kept people away from him was what seemed to wrap around his upper body from the waist to his neck. It looked like a snake with pure, snow-white skin. Its glossy emerald eyes sparkled with mischievousness.

The figure was Akuji Marvell, he was now a sixteen-year-old, and for the past year, he's been honing his skills to the best of his abilities. However, he was not in the traditional mage guild but a Mercenary guild. Mercenary Guilds take on the more deadly and immoral jobs. As long as the pay is good, the deed will be done. However, unlike the other guilds, Mercenaries don't utilize magic, so they mostly consist of martial artists and other weapons that counter mages.

'Salamander, eh? He's my next target. Interesting.'

Akuji joined a Mercenary Guild called Dagger Heart. He joined shortly after his father sealed himself within Akuji. The boy contemplated joining the standard mage guild, but he refused. After his father was sealed, Akuji became more of a thrill seeker than anything else. He wondered if he was betraying his father's wishes, but Akuji wasn't given a task timeframe. After all, his tasks will require him to be the strongest.

He had to be strong.

Akuji was expected to handle Dragon Slayers and Dragons themselves. Sure, most Dragons are in hiding since the threat of Acnologia looms on the horizon, but Akuji knew he had to be the one to end Acnologia. Akuji wasn't an idiot. He couldn't just waltz up to the Dragon King and issue a fight. It would be like a chicken trying to hurt a mountain. So, Akuji joined Dagger Heart, hoping to reach the peak of his physical strength.

"Tch, Phantom Lord, from what I hear, has someone called "Black Steel Gajeel."

"Yeah, whatever. Salamander sounds cooler."

Akuji shook his head at the banter but tilted his head with excitement bubbling up from within. Salamander supposedly was a strong fire mage, and a mission from Dagger Heart required his capture. The client wished to dissect and experiment on his body, but Akuji could care less about the small stuff. If Salamander is hyped up like this, he must be strong, right?

Right?

If Salamander were from Fairy Tail, he would have to travel to Magnolia. From Akuji's location, he could reach Magnolia in a day or so. Akuji's body shivered. His head was still tilted, so when he gave a foolish smile, he was unaware of the people who looked at him with a hint of fear and apprehensiveness. Some people here knew who Akuji was and knew he was only here to gather information, so they became silent.

Perhaps Salamander will be the one to cure Akuji's everlasting boredom?

Only days worth of traveling could tell!

Akuji got up from his seat and walked over to the two bickering idiots, unaware of Akuji's approaching form. Akuji's steps were masked with silence. Not a single sound was heard from his steps. It was like he was a soul, unseen and unheard.

"Hey, you two."

"Eh?" The two men arguing over the best guild turned to see Akuji's figure standing behind them. Everyone was on edge as Akuji radiated no ill intent, but the sickly feeling of a predator stalking you was setting everyone's nerves on fire.

"What do you want, pal? Can't you see I'm relaxing?"

"You two are the Storm Brothers, right?"

The two men met each other's gaze, and their demeanor went from drunk to weariness. They didn't know who this punk kid was but felt nothing from him. He was a blank slate. Those tend to be the most dangerous people in Earthland.

"Yeah, what of it? Get lost. You're starting to cause us to sober up!" The man on the left, who had teal color shaggy, medium hair, said with irritation as his eyebrows scrunched. The one on the right had dirt blond hair. They both had scars under their eyes, the man on the left had his under his right, and the one on the right had it on his left.

These were the Storm brothers, Rai and Kai. It was completely unoriginal, but Akuji wasn't one to care about such things. Rai and Kai wore similar outfits: a blue vest with a yellow undershirt, blue shorts above the knees, and sandals. Kai's color was inverted, with his vest yellow with a blue undershirt, yellow shorts, and sandals.

They took the Storm Brother title a little too seriously. A hidden sweatdrop came from Akuji as he inspected the two.

"Being sober will have you fighting at one hundred percent unless being drunk before you're dead is okay."

Everyone in the Bar heard that and immediately ran out. Even the owner of the establishment left. The owner knew of Akuji, and how he came to this Bar to collect information or relax was usually the former.

Rai and Kai wasted no time and shot off from their seats in opposite directions, the screeching from their chairs rattled in the air, echoing the sounds of battle. Rai and Kai looked at Akuji in a new light. They finally figured out why he seemed to carry an eerie sense of dread. Now that they were sober, they knew who this was!

Akuji, The Bone Eater!

They didn't realize that Akuji was a young kid! He was only five and eight inches. They expected someone taller and more mature, not some adolescent. Yet, they couldn't shake off this feeling. It gripped their limbs, plowing them into the dirt like a burial. Akuji looked stumped at the Storm Brothers and scratched his chin absentmindedly.

"Slow down, yeah?"

"What the fuck do you mean by that? We know who you are! If you're here to kill us, you'll have a hard time, kid. We're not the Storm Brothers for a reason," Rai shouted with a burst of vigor, his previous worries vanishing like the passing storm.

"My brother is right, Bone Eater," Kai spoke less enthusiastically than his brother, Rai, but it was filled with the same confidence.

"I see, very well then! MORGAN!"

On the call, the snake on Akuji's shoulder opened its mouth, and a magic circle appeared. Akuji moved his right hand to the circle, and a large trident made entirely of bone appeared from the blaring white magic circle. It had lines of blue within that glowed with power.

Akuji grinned at the choice of weapon Morgan gave him by using her Bone Creation Magic. Akuji also learned how to use the various weapons Morgan spat out to utilize each one efficiently. Even with all these advantages, Akuji was still weaker than his future enemies.

His journey starts now!

END

AN: And done! The first chapters are always hard for me, but everything from here on will get better. I wanted to introduce Akuji Marvell, and yeah, I noticed many people make their OCs Wendy's big brother, so I'm just going along with that, too. He stole her name, and she didn't even give him permission; I enjoyed writing that part.

So, Akuji is the Bone Dragon Slayer. However, I won't have him use it right away. Toji Fushiguro inspired me, so Akuji's character will be similar but, of course, with my twist. This will start the "X778 Arc," a foundation for building up Akuji's character and impact on the world. Only a few people know of Akuji and his reputation as "Bone Eater" Yeah, original, but he does eat a lot of bones, so people just started calling him that within a year.

Akuji's sudden change in a single year isn't for no reason. I have a big reason, which will be revealed later in the story when the time is right. When I start using his Dragon Slayer Magic, I will list his moves as we progress and get new moves so you guys can keep up. Magic Circles are staying in my story. They were so unique at the beginning of the series.
