Director Costa-Brown

Sometimes you'rE fucked, no matter what you do you will be stuck with a crappy outcome. Brockton Bay left me in one of those situation. We had a cape a powerful one who wanted to play ball.

Not only that he had the power to create more capes that could play ball. In fact we would have control over what power the new capes would have. Sure there were only five options but one of those options was a proven ability to heal injuries and cure illnesses.

The down side is we don't know if it's permanent yet, if ther's a limit or if it's another Teacher situation. Thing is, it's worth the risk except we have one problem. He hates the local director and says she's corrupt.

Ok, that's why we have transfers right? Nope, he wants her behind bars. Then it gets worse he shows me exactly why he has a problem with the director and its damning. Video after video of her accepting bribes, of her giving away protectorate secrets.

The evidence on the three girls he also wanted behind bars?

A ward killed a six year old girl and taped herself doing it. That's just the worst of it there was a mountain of evidence and it was damning. I can't ignore this. We have Master/Stranger protocols, but this, this was bad. Really bad. The tape of the director murdering civilians to save herself was a PR nightmare.

Which is why I'm having this meeting. It's a collection of directors, Public Relations people and legal and right now we need to figure out what to do.

"Nail her to the wall."

You can always trust Tagg to say what every one is thinking.

"Search her home."

Director Samhiem Fresno PRT director.

"We are currently doing that."

The director was called to Boston while that process was going through.

"What if Compass is trying to frame her?"

I stared at the man in the corner, he was from billings Montana.

"Why go through all of this effort to destroy her when he's willing to join us? If he wants to destroy the local PRT then why did he clear the protectorate. The only cape implicated was shadow stalker. Every one else is clean."

I looked at my phone.

'We found some thing.'

The PRT agents, people I trusted from outside the city said they found some thing.

'Bring it in.'

"The search of the Directors house has concluded."

With that we waited, I continued looking over the potential that Compass offered us and I weighed it against the PR nightmare that would happen if we went public with this.

It would go public.

The PRT agents came and poured gold, jewelry, cash on our table, an incredible amount of wealth.

"We're still finding more."

I looked at the man from Montana, he shook his head.

"Fuck."

I nodded.

"We have two possibilities."

The room was silent.

"The first one is that Director Emily Piggot has been framed by Compass."

I could smell the gold I felt some of it with my hands it was very real.

"The second one is that he is telling the truth Director Emily Piggot has betrayed us. She really did kill her fellow PRT agents to save herself. She really did lie about it to get her job. She really does accept bribes from the gangs in brockton bay. She really has given out our secrets to enrich herself. She really did accept a psychopath into the wards to use as her personal enforcer."

We looked at the mountain of gold.

"We have all heard the audio tapes, we have all seen the video footage, we have all read the reports from that little girl's diary. This was found at the directors home today."

I let that sink in.

Director Tagg got out of his seat and walked up to the guard.

"What's in the suit case?"

There were several of them.

"We don't know all we know is that their heavy."

Tagg nodded and asked for a crowbar, the suit case was jimmied over when it was finished he looked at the insides of the case and then looked away with disgust.

"Nail... Her.. To... The... Wall..."

One by one we looked inside, and saw bars of gold marked with tiny swastikas. Nazi gold, she had actual Nazi gold. I looked at the other people I had called from their duties.

"All in favor of sacking Director Piggot say Aye."

It was unanimous.

"All in favor of pressing charges."

Again it was unanimous.

"So what do we do?"

I looked to Glen, hoping he would have an answer.

"NAIL HER TO THE WALL!"

Glen frowned.

"I hate to say this but he's right, we have no choice but to own this. Does Compass care about who gets credit?"

I gave him a text to find out.

'No.'

"I got my reply he doesn't care."

Glen shuffled some paper.

"In a way this is a good thing, the city of Brockton Bay has an increasingly large problem with crime. The director makes for quite a scapegoat, and since the evidence is rather large."

I nodded.

"We use her as an example then? If you betray us, if you become corrupt we will go after you."

"Correct, this will hurt in the short tern but if we make an example of her we can show that the PRT does not tolerate corruption."

I sat down.

"Well it's the best we can do."
