Teddy

I looked at the picture of Daddy and me on my nightstand.

"Hey, Teddy Bear." It was Mommy.

I looked up at her.

"Time for bed, buddy."

Mommy flipped my blanket aside.

"Here we go."

I laid down in bed.

"Want me to, uh... Read you a story?" She questioned.

Mommy put my blanket over me.

"How about "Go, Dog. Go!" You like that one, right?"

"Where is Daddy?"

"Mommy and Daddy are just having a little... Bit of a rough time right now. He's staying with Uncle Eli."

"Is Daddy gonna be sad again? Like last time?"

"I don't think so. I hope not."

"Daddy stopped being sad when Nanny Caroline came to live with us. He liked Nanny Caroline."

"I know this is probably really hard for you to understand cause you're... So little."

She beeped my nose.

"Nanny Caroline wasn't a very nice lady... And she needed to go away."

"I wish Nanny Caroline was my Mama."

Ana

I stared down at Teddy.

Christian

I knocked on our front door.

Ana opened the door.

She let me in the house.

"Ana, I'm sorry, okay?"

Ana shut the door.

We headed into the Kitchen.

"And I'm sorry for the way this looks. But before you say anything, just know that it's my fault."

I wrapped my arms around Ana.

"I should have done something earlier."

I stroked her back.

"I should have... I should have said something to you from the start."

Ana sobbed.

"She said that you kissed her."

She stepped back.

Ana sighed.

"Did you?"

"Daddy's home!" It was Teddy.

"Hey, buddy. What's up?"

I picked him up.

"Um... Mommy and I need to talk right now, okay? So, why don't you go out back and shoot around?" I suggested.

"You know what?"

I put Teddy on the floor.

"Try to make five free throws in a row." I told him.

"And I'll be out there in a sec, okay?" I questioned Teddy.

He nodded his head.

Teddy went out back.

"It's a simple question, Christian."

I stared at Ana.

"Did you kiss her?" She repeated.

"No."

Ana sighed.

"But... She kissed me."

"You looked me in the eye and you said that there's nothing else. You said there's nothing more. And I have been through a lot with you, Christian. I've been through better and worse, in sickness and health but I will not do infidelity."

"It wasn't like that, okay?" I inquired.

"I wasn't into her." I pointed out.

"You call kissing Caroline and watching her swim naked not being into her?"

"I didn't kiss her!" I told her.

"How many times do I have to tell you that?" I questioned.

"It wasn't me. It was Caroline."

Teddy

I made a free throw.

It went into the basket.

Christian

"No, it's you! It's always you! When are you gonna learn?"

Teddy

The ball fell into the pool.

Christian

"When are you gonna stop making bad choices that threaten everything that we've built?"

"Everything I've ever done was for this family, Ana!"

"Well, excuse us for being such a weight around your neck."

"I didn't say that, okay. And you know I didn't mean that. Don't put words in my mouth."

"Well, somebody needs to because you have a really nasty habit of neglecting to mention important details."

Teddy

I was trying to get the ball.

Christian

"Ana, you know what?"

Ana had her hands on her hips.

"I'm really trying hard to be honest about all this right now. But sometimes, for you, it's just never enough, okay?"

She stared at me.

"And I can't take it anymore!"

Teddy

I fell into the pool.

I was coughing as I was drowning.

I was gasping.

I went underwater.

Christian

"And it's- And it's my fault because I put so much pressure on you. And the best part is, you screw the nanny and Teddy ends up hating me!"

"I did not screw her! What?"

Ana looked out the window in the Kitchen.

"Where is he?"

I didn't see Teddy either.

"Teddy!" She called his name.

"Oh!"

"Teddy."

I ran outside in front of Ana.

I opened the backdoor.

"Teddy!" I called.

"Teddy!" She called.

I jumped in the pool.

"Hey!"

I grabbed Teddy.

"Oh, God! Please! Please!"

"Wake up." I told him.

"Teddy!"

"He'll be good."

"He's breathing, right?" Ana questioned.

She was sitting on the cement around the pool.

"I don't know!"

"Come here! Come here!"

Ana was holding Teddy in her arms.

"Teddy!"

I sat next to her.

"Teddy, open your eyes! Honey, wake up."

Teddy coughed up water.

"Wake up."

"Okay. Okay."

Ana leaned her head on his.

"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry." I apologized.

"No, you stay away from us! This Marriage is over!" She told me, moving Teddy away from me.

"Ana!"

"Please go."

Ana was crying.

"I want... I want a divorce."

She sobbed.

Ana kissed Teddy on the head.
