A/N:

OOOOOOOOOOOOO

Kurayami tested the restraints holding her hands apart and above her head. It was no use. They were too strong to break. Just as they had been the last several times she had tested them.

Ibiki takes no chances with his prisoners, she thought, relaxing as much as she could. I can't say that I blame him…

The ninja sighed. Images that were unwelcome flashed before her mind's eyes, making her flinch.

How could I be so easily brainwashed into a sleeper cell? That doesn't make sense! Someone would have to be really powerful to brainwash a Houka clan member…

A tear slid down her cheek. "You are the weakest member of the Houka clan…" she whispered to herself.

Something rustled outside of her cell. Kurayami stiffened, expecting to see a guard. One that would harass her again.

Kakashi slipped into the light and Kurayami stared at him in surprise. Then horror.

"You're not supposed to be here," she whispered. "You're going to get in so much trouble!"

Kakashi shrugged. "Trouble's bound to0 happen to us all." He stepped closer. "I had to see you, Ami-chan."

Kurayami flinched at the familiarity of his words. She forced herself to look away. "You don't need me to be your Ami-chan anymore, Kakashi-san. You need to stay away from me. Especially after the monster I've turned out to be has been discovered."

"No. I'm not leaving you."

"I almost killed people you care about!"

"But you didn't."

"I almost killed you!"

"I'm not worried about that." Kakashi stepped up really close to her. "I'm worried about my best friend, thinking that she's a monster that needs to be broken."

Kurayami shook her head. "I'm not good enough for you. Or your friendship, Kakashi-san! Please, leave!"

Kakashi didn't move away. He put his hand to her cheek and slowly caressed her face. Kurayami blinked as her body tried to lean into his touch. He had to see reason.

"Go!" she cried.

"Did you mean what you said?" Kakashi asked, looking into her eyes. "When we were alone at the training grounds?"

"Yes, but why does that even matter? I'm not going to be free again until they can say words in the order that triggers me without triggering me into that sleeper cell mode! It doesn't matter!"

Kakashi shook his head. "It matters, Ami-chan. You matter. To me." He reached up and pulled down his mask. "Because I love you too."

Tears slid down Kurayami's face and she closed her eyes. Kakashi's lips found hers and he kissed her deeply. Kurayami kissed him back and felt him slide his hand around her waist.

This is wrong,, she thought, opening her eyes slightly when he pulled back enough to let her breathe. He shouldn't be here with me…

"Kakashi, please…go…"

Kakashi kissed her again and Kurayami tried to resist. But her heart overwhelmed her brain and she knew that she needed Kakashi. She needed his company, his touch, his everything.

"Please…" she whispered between kisses.

Kakashi undid her top and pressed his lips to her chest, feasting on her flesh. Kurayami quivered as he undid her shorts and slid himself inside her…

OOOOOOOOOOO

Kurayami hung limply in the air, her legs wrapped around Kakashi's hips hours later. She wanted to soothe him, to love him as they both shook from the remnants of their joint climax. But her restraints kept her hands locked up above her head, away from him.

"Ami-chan," Kakashi murmured, brushing his lips against hers.

Kurayami sighed. "You need to go, Kakashi-san. Fix our mess and…go."

Kakashi looked at her. "You don't mean that. Let me stay. Let me talk to Ibiki, the Hokage."

"What good will it do? I'm a danger. I'm a threat to the village," Kurayami muttered, feeling the bitterness on her tongue. "Until I'm safe and trusted enough…there's no point in talking."

"You have to let me try."

"I don't have to let you do anything. I have to make you go. I need you to leave me behind and focus on those students of yours. Forget me."

"You were gone for six years, I never forgot you then. Why would you expect me to forget you now? When we both said that we love each other?"

"Because."

"That's not good enough."

"Because you have people counting on you to lead them to be better ninja than they ever thought possible. Who do I have counting on me besides my grandmother?"

Kakashi put his hand to his chest. "You have me." He stepped forward and fixed their clothes. "Let me talk to them. I'll get you out of this prison and back where you belong."

"The people won't forget…or forgive what I have done."

"They don't know you like I do."

Kurayami rolled her eyes. "Shouldn't because that's weird. But that's not the point…"

"Just trust me," Kakashi said with a smile.

In a flash, he was gone, leaving Kurayami alone once more. She sighed and closed her eyes against a wave of tears.

"I wish that I could…"

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Kurayami was startled out of a doze when Ibiki stepped into her cell, holding a set of keys. Kurayami tensed, waiting.

"You're too weak," Ibiki said, his eyes focused hard on hers.

Kurayami blinked, but her mind remained unclouded. She frowned at Ibiki.

"You would be weak too if you were half-starved for a month. Try it sometime. See how you like it."

Ibiki shook his head and moved closer to her. "Be glad that you have friends in low places, Houka. There's a lot of people who would see you kept in chains."

"Are you one of them?"

Ibiki said nothing as he released her from her restraints. Kurayami's arms fell limply to her sides. She looked at Ibiki.

"What now?"

"You're free to go. Someone is waiting outside for you."

Kurayami lifted a brow and then took off. No one stopped her as she ran though the building and out into the light.

Someone's waiting for me. Who? Where?

Her eyes landed on Kakashi, standing off to one side. A smile lit up her face and Kurayami ran over to him. He collected her in his arms and kissed her repeatedly.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, you incredible idiot!" she exclaimed between kisses. "You are the best!"

Kakashi smiled and squeezed her tightly. "I know."

So modest, thought before letting him carry her away from the prison. "I'm starving! Let's go eat!"

"Anything for you," Kakashi said and she knew that he meant it.

OOOOOOOOOOOO
