EPISODE 2
The Interview
Lois stood on the balcony at the top of the daily planet in the cold, regretting that she didn't bring her jacket to work with her today. "Lois Lane of the daily planet invites Superman to an interview on top of the daily planet tonight" she read off the newspaper she held. "Yes Lois, he was definitely going to accept an invitation like this… I'm going to look like such an idiot tomorrow when the headline reads, Superman ghosts daily planet reporter…"
"Good evening, Miss Lane." Said Superman while floating down from the sky and landing on the balcony across from Lois.
"You're here," she said, trying to hide the amazement in her voice and throwing the newspaper to the ground so she could grab her voice recorder.
"Oh, I'm sorry if I am running late, there was a situation that required my attention," Superman said with a slight smile and blushed cheeks.
Lois's eyes widened at the sight of Superman's friendly facial expression "Well, I certainly hope that I have your attention now."
"Of course, Miss Lane" Superman agreed with an expanding grin.
"Call me Lois," said Lois, now the one blushing.
Superman's smile turned back to a cheeky smirk Are you sure? We haven't even properly introduced ourselves" he said.
"Alright then, Lois Lane, daily planet," Lois said and changed the hand she held the voice recorder with and then held out her hand for a handshake.
Superman shook her hand "It's great to finally meet you, Lois, I'm Superman, that's what you called me in your invitation, right?"
"Yes," Lois said, captivated and at a loss for more words.
"I gotta say, I like the name, you don't appear to be speaking much. Strange as I took you for being quite an outspoken and powerful woman" Superman said as he let go of her hand.
Lois snapped herself out of the trance she was in and got back to her reporter instinct. "Yes, that's the name I came up with. It goes well with the s of your chest, don't you think?"
"It's not an S. From where I'm from, it means hope" Superman clarified and placed his hand on his chest on top of the symbol.
Lois held out the voice recorder closer to Superman "And where is that exactly?"
"Far from here" Superman replied.
"You're not going to tell me?" Lois questioned.
"Go, go!" shouted a voice that Superman heard from afar.
"This is only the first time we've met Lois, perhaps that can wait for another time" Superman answered while now keeping an ear on what might become another situation.
Lois couldn't hide her disappointment "Alright… why are you doing this, what do you want?" she asked as her next question.
"Really trying to dig deep, aren't you Lois," Superman said with a smirk, playing with her.
"Well, I am a reporter, digging for things to report on is my life."
"I'm just your next news headline then, is that it?" Superman questioned.
"Stop toying with me, you're the biggest news there is. I want to know everything about you, as a reporter as well as for my own curiosity. You saved my life on the plane; I want to know everything about you" Lois stated.
Superman nodded as he felt Lois's sincerity come through her reporter persona. "Well, Lois there's still much about me that I'm trying to understand. I was sent here as a baby and growing up I was taught by my adoptive parents the value of giving and helping those in need. and I choose to use my powers for the benefit of humanity, fighting for truth, justice, and a better tomorrow."
Lois laughed and then hid her smile as well as her blushed cheeks. "I'm sorry to laugh, that sounds great and very wholesome but you can't be serious and if you are, do you really think that the world needs a Savior? Sure, the world has its problems but are we that bad?"
"Lois. You may not imagine people calling for a Savior to help them, to know they have someone fighting for them. But I hear them calling, I hear everything" Superman said calmly and passionately.
"Don't move or we'll open fire!" shouted the voice again and just as he heard that Superman then heard a gunshot and Lois became frozen as he began to use his speed.
Superman jumped from the rooftop and raced toward where he heard the gunfire and came to the first bank of Metropolis. He burst through the doors where everyone was frozen the same as Lois, Superman surveyed the bank and saw the robbers and the Bullets had been shot mid-air. The hostages were in the line of fire and Superman slapped the bullets out of the air and then shifted a couple of the hostages out of the way. Once the civilians were safe, he then turned his sights to the bank robbers, pushing one which would send him flying into the wall behind him once time catches up with him. The next two robber's Superman hit, with only enough force to knock them out.
With all the robbers subdued once time starts flowing again Superman sped back through the door to the bank and off back toward the daily planet to continue his interview with Lois. As he flew back up to the rooftop Superman took his spot back where was standing, in front of Lois who was still frozen with her voice recorder held out in front of her.
Everything began flowing again as if Superman never left and Lois turned her voice recorder off. "I think you're amazing. But You can't force the world to change, no matter how powerful you are.
Superman relaxed his stance and shifted his feet before he responded. "I'd never force change upon anybody Lois, I can only hope to inspire," he said with an open-handed gesture.
"You certainly live up to that symbol then," said Lois.
"That's all anyone can ever hope for. Just as my symbol winds around like an S, it winds like a river, hope comes and goes. Just as long as you don't give up, it always comes back around" said Superman and then gently touched off the ground with his feet and floated upwards "I'm sorry Lois but I'm afraid we've run out of time tonight, there's another situation that has come up"
Lois nodded her head and waved goodbye. "that's okay Superman, go inspire hope, just make sure you're available for another interview ASAP!"
"You're a force of nature, miss lane. I'll always make time for you when I can" said Superman and waited for one more moment to see if Lois blushed and then took off into the twilight sky.
Lois stood there and watched Superman fly until he disappeared from her eyesight and then kept watching the horizon, knowing that he is still out there. "Lois!" shouted Clark as he burst through the exit door to the balcony.
"What is it, Clark?" Lois asked, not even taking her eyes away from the sky.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry if I interrupted Lois but I thought you'd like to know that the one you call Superman just stopped a bank robbery"
Lois turned to Clark finally "When? She asked.
"Only a couple of minutes ago, Jimmy and I just heard it over the radio" Clark replied.
"That's impossible, he was just here in the middle of an interview with me…" Lois said with disbelief.
"I'm not sure how somebody could be in two places at once Lois. But jeepers how could someone on the radio be wrong?" Clark questioned Lois with a confused tone in his voice.
Lois laughed "Don't strain yourself, Clark" she said and brushed past him through the door. Clark smiled as he walked past seeing how in her mind she was.
