Welcome... To Chapter 1 of Season 1!
This is the first ever chapter of AL: CE (Azur Lane: Commander's Expedition) Remastered. I hope you guys will like it, I have planned even better pacing and writing for this story that you don't need to catch up long winded chapters.
Why?
Because I like writing, along watching films, I watch films and their pacing a bunch of times to the point I can detect it.
I wanted to make a tight series that has short amount episodes/chapters but have the heftiness quality within it, not making them filler unless I have to.
With that said, any one know about the Azur Lane Lore?...
Well, this is gonna be my own twist towards the lore, as massive reveals will occur and to show why it is connected to the XZJQ Series...
I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy writing it...
(Heck, I may consider a , those who will see my other work, however still trying to look up how to make the worth available for you guys and along helping me support to making this hobby a potential side-job.)
With that, commence the chapter...
"War... Such a disastrously moment for all of us."
"The Sirens... They come to the very world to destroy all of humanity, but the Azur Lane is created by such remnants of their technology... We've fought hard, and have won the first war..."
"But, your had to die for us to win..."
"Your loss has devastated us, but Akagi's heart, has hurt the most. Akagi would never occur this, despite the knowlegdement of War..."
Thunder roars. Rain falls throughout the crazy ocean as lightning burst out of the grey cloudily sky. Standing on the roaring ocean, multiple islands are there, waves splashes on the rock cliffs and beaches.
Dead trees are being blown by the strong wind, abandoned buildings encase by unknown black metallic materials, covered by rocky hills. Raindrops splashed onto puddles, spread everywhere... A base, located in the middle of the small mountain. A large door is opened, inside are dark shadows with hints of red light glowing over the lines within.
Further in, somewhere underground, two figures are walking onto the smooth floor... Both are in stylish Kimonos, red and blue separate, female, first having long dark brown and the second has short white hair with matching colored fox ears on their heads. And they also have nine tails.
They managed to reached their destination... A large black metallic coffin, as it shines with a tint of dark purple. The first one reached at the coffin, placing her hand as she felt the touch of cold and smoothness.
"We have found it..." The first one, smirked as her crimson red eyes glint at the sight of the coffin. "Kaga, isn't it wonderful, the salvation lies here." She has named out the second one, as Kaga herself walked up near the coffin and gaze at it.
"Agreed, Akagi." Kaga replied, revealing the other's name. And just that, a section of the floor rises up, as that same section transforms into a panel... She then analyze it, as she presses the buttons within the holographic screen.
Then just a moment, the coffin glows, red lines in a symmetrical pattern. The hatch opens, releasing mist that is contained inside.
The two have witness such a figure... Standing over twice as tall than an average human height, easily towers them both. A robot, but as bulky shaped as a human, it's armor contains the same color and design as the coffin itself. Horns onto of its head to impose intimating design, along having a visor and mask, making it less humanized.
"To think, we have what is suppose to be our enemy..." Akagi stated. "Now, we have the weapon to necessary crush the enemies. And Akagi's path of vengeance has been suffice..."
"And what about the others?" Kaga suggested.
"Akagi can convince others, it is the necessity to crush out the enemy by any needs necessary... But for those who stood in Akagi's way..." She glanced at Kaga.
"...Understood." Kaga seemingly acknowledged as she continues on the panel. "Rebooting it's program."
Akagi smiles as she stares at the large robot, as the sound starts up within itself, due to the activation by Kaga. "Thus the path of vengeance will proceed, the goal shall succeed!"
The robot has been activated... A large mechanical hand clenched, a foot stepped out of the coffin. It stepped out, downgazes the two, scanning them. The scan glitches, thanks to the reprogram.
Akagi then giggles... Then cackles, seeing how the very weapon used by the enemies, is now theirs.
"But Shikikan... This is for you... Watch us. Watch Akagi, will find you from these parasites that took you away. Akagi will... Find you. No matter anyone who stand in Akagi's way..."
Azur Lane: Commander's Expedition
"Civil War"
A light shined within the dark room, a man wearing causal clothes is sitting on a chair, near table, cuffed. He is quite tall for an average human. His dark hair and fair skin shines by the lamp above, and notably his silver eyes gazed around the area.
"So... After all this time, we've found you. Xavier." Another voice spoke out, an Admiral dressed in white navy uniform showing his rank and glory. He sits down from the other side as the two stare at each other.
"And what now, Admiral?" Xavier questioned him, his tone shows his lack of impression towards this situation.
"I've looked on your files." The Admiral stated. "You have such a illegal record of cyber crime. Contraband, intellectual property tracking, credit card fraud, account hacking. I am impressed by such talent of yours."
"What is it you're trying to do? Compliment me?" Xavier ridiculed.
"But, you didn't start that route from day 1..." Xavier scowled for a moment, looking away from the Admiral as he speaks, "Your files had shown you used to work with us." A pause of silence occurred as he notices his scowl look, "Don't you think you gotten rid of everything, paper still exists." He smiled.
"What do you want?" Xavier asked.
"An offer, a choice you make." The Admiral cuts the chase, "You will be in prison for the rest of your life, or... You become our new Commander, of the Azur Lane." He announced.
Xavier widen his eyes by hearing the latter, "The Azur Lane? The ones that fight the Sirens head on?" He asked.
Admiral nodded, "As you heard the news, we defeated the Sirens. But it comes a cost, by the loss of our first Commander. You are the second and the replacement of the first, you have the skills and survivability." He listed out. "And be the luckiest man to witness the beauty of Kansens, face to face." He smirked.
"...Is the last one trying to impress me?" Xavier annoyingly groaned as the Admiral chuckled. "You can't just find another one of your lackeys to be lead the force."
"We can, we choose not to. To reveal the role of Commander of the Azur Lane, we used to picked the most expendable person that has the potential skills to lead the force without concerning ourselves." Admiral explained.
"Ah, so both choices lead to a bad end. The illusion of choice, as typical from you." Xavier grunted.
"Hm... However, that was from the old days." The Admiral replied, after hearing what Xavier ahs said about him "After such sacrifice from the first Commander, we cannot leave his actions fade away from it. For this, this choice for the Azur Lane is a redemption." He added. "So think of joining the Azur Lane is long path before your so called bad end will come."
Xavier is silent again. Admiral smiles at the silence and how irritated he is by this.
"You have a choice... And I'm sorry to be a little sensitive... But are you really gonna discard the memory of her?" The Admiral questioned Xavier which leads his fists clenched harder, his expression went annoyance to slight anger. "After the first, this is a chance for you, to become a better person, and you know life you take is a negative one..."
Xavier sighed deeply, "...I'll do it." He accepts the offer.
Admiral nodded, as the guard appeared behind Xavier, uncuffs him. Then Admiral gives out his hand, "Welcome to the Azur Lane." He warmly smiled as Xavier shakes his hand.
A helicopter is flying above, right below is a the harbor base, filled with many ships in different shapes and sizes. Every building is advanced with technology, having turret defenses all around from anti-air to battleship cannons.
Over the distance from the harbor a massive dark wall that towers the tallest building on the harbor. The wall itself have mounted with such impregnable weapons defense, and over the distance a full navy fleet guarding the outside perimeter.
The helicopter landed on the helipad, as it powers down, a door opens, the Admiral leaves followed by Xavier. His outfit has been changed drastically, he is wearing a white navy uniform, signifying himself as the Second Commander. He gaze upon the site they're in, many men and women in Navy personal are doing drills, training, and construction work to some of the building as well.
"I can tell, this ain't your first time being here!" Admiral yells from the loud environment.
"Not much has changed..." Xavier responded, he notices the turret adjustments. "Seemed they are adding more defenses."
"Ever since our last victory, the Sirens haven't attacked us for 3 months." Admiral explains. They continue through the path, reaching at the docks. Xavier watches warships being assembled by engineers. "We've been making extra precautions of their next potential attack."
They arrived at the docks, there's someone standing over here, they stands out compare to the people.
A fair-skinned woman with pure white hair, wearing a white dress and hat, as her blue eyes gazed at the two. She smiled, radiating the innocent aura towards Xavier which makes his stomach twist. He felt uncomfortable looking at her.
"Greetings, Illustrious." The Admiral greeted. "Thank you for arriving here due to the change of our pickup and dropout."
Illustrious nodded, "It is nothing, Admiral. We understand the situation that come to this." Her expression slightly faltered but she maintain her smile, she glanced at Xavier, "And you must be the Second Commander." She gives out a small bow, "HMS Illustrious, Aircraft Carrier of the Royal Navy." She introduced herself.
"Granted." Xavier simply replied. Then he noticed someone behind her, a teenage girl? She is fair-skinned, wears a white dress, has long light purple hair, she is hugging some kind of unicorn doll that has a similar color scheme as her. He mentioned out, "And who is she?" He asked.
Illustrious noticed, "Oh." She smiled. "This is Unicorn, she came here to be with me." She looks at Unicorn, "Come on, introduce yourself." She assured her.
Unicorn shyly steps out, hugging her unicorn doll tightly, "...My name is... Unicorn... Royal Navy!" She quickly blurted out, "And... I am here... To support my big sister Illustrious..." After that, she bowed and steps back to her original spot.
"...Please to meet you." Xavier replied. He heard of those girls... And now in person, witnessing them, to think they are the ones facing the Sirens head on... Unicorn, a light air carrier, is a mere little girl?
"Well..." Admiral claps his hands, "I think this is where your leave has begin." Xavier turns to him as he continues. "These two will take you to their island base, detailed you, and soon you will have the basics done."
"You are essentially throwing me into a blind area." Xavier glared at the Admiral.
"Not really, Commander." Admiral winked. "Your records prove you don't walk in blind, we've given to the island, they know what you are capable of." He stated. "So you're fine, all you need to do is to hold out with the girls. And remember... They aren't just ships, but human, they have feelings." He gestured to Illustrious and Unicorn.
"I am aware they are human." Xavier acknowledged. "...And by my records-"
Admiral leans close to his ear, as others could not hear it, Illustrious and Unicorn recognized this as a private moment between them, "Also, we haven't revealed your 'true' history to them, this is something you have to do it yourself..." He whispered.
Xavier's expression is surprised, but seeing others, he quickly compressed it. Annoyed, but could've been worse... He sighed again, and nodded once more. He walks up to Illustrious and Unicorn while the woman smiled brightly much to his discomfort seeing that. Thus Admiral gives a slight playful salute at them.
Somewhere in the middle of the ocean, an large island base is here. There are people there, but almost all of them are women from adults to teenagers and kids. They are having their daily times within the island itself, there are standing waiting for something coming from the waters.
Some mustered each other, 'something, something, new Commander', then there are little yellow chubby-like birds are besides them, some on the bottom but others on fences and on some of the girls.
There are three people, intriguing, one of them is a male at the docks, awaiting of an arrival coming soon, and not to their surprise, a ship is coming. An aircraft carrier, none other to be Illustrious herself. The ship has docked, as the yellow bird rushed in and secured the spot.
A ramp came down, as Illustrious, Unicorn, and lastly Xavier entered on the harbor platform. There he sees who the three are, a man wearing a white uniform, not navy-like, but some kind of doctor. The other two are women, one is taller with blonde hair and red eyes, and the other has same eye color but her hair is light brown, and is teenage height. They are wearing such variety of colors, red, blue, white, they don't same color formal like the others he has seen.
The man spoke up, "Great to see you two, how was the trip?" He asked.
"Good, Doctor." Illustrious smiled, as Unicorn nodded as a silent response. "Unicorn says the same."
The man nodded, and he sees Xavier, "You must be the second Commander." He stated.
"Yes..." Xavier replied.
"He is very notably silent throughout the entire trip." Illustrious ponder out loud, much to Xavier winced when she mentioned about him from the trip.
"I see..." He replied. "Well, it's time for introductions, my name is Jonathan Gerrard. Call me John for short, I am your new partner and second Doctor of the Azur Lane." He introduced himself.
The taller woman gives slight nod, "HMS King George V-Class Battleship, Prince Of Wales, it's an honor meeting you." She greeted.
The second speaks up with a cheerful attitude, "Sup! Eagle Union, USS Cleveland, just call me Cleveland!" She grinned. "Though... You knew that already." She chuckled.
"...Hi." Xavier responded with an awkward expression. This is already getting bad...
"So..." John spoken out of the awkward silence, "Shall we bring you to the announcement?" He asked, as he guided Xavier first as others waiting till they gained distance.
Wales turns to Illustrious, "How is he?" She asked.
"He seemed troubled..." Illustrious admitted as she wondered, "So far, as I said, he never spoken much during the trip, despite my kindness..." She recalls.
"He's a little scary..." Unicorn nervously added.
"A tough shell?" Cleveland suggested.
"We will find out." Wales stated. "We must hear what the records of him have told us."
"Xavier Reese. A 'sorcerer' of technology, a massive criminal record of low but illegal cyber crime." A woman who looked like a short girl, has light brown hair, notable military-like outfit and hairstyle, such as fake ears, and beside her is a massive sword that's slightly taller than her. Her light violent eyes gazed at the paper records of his profile. She looks up at him.
Behind her, is another short girl, who is sitting on a throne-like chair, her outfit looks some kind of rich royalty as her light blue eyes gazed at Xavier, as he himself is standing in front of the table, though glancing at other girls outside by the room, peeking through the door as only some are here, most notably he assumed the leaders of the factions.
The woman continues reading, "And, he's a Private Rank of US Navy... He's a solider." She concluded as the one on the throne scoffs.
"He does not look like a soldier." She remarked.
"You have ever looked into a mirror, shorty?" Xavier quipped, causing her to be bewildered. "You don't look like the short of person to face an alien watercraft."
"What?! Do you know who I am?!" She exclaimed.
"HMS Battleship, Queen Elizabeth." Xavier instantly responded, causing her to be quiet as he talks, "Trust me, what Warspite's reading, tells you, and I know you." He stated, as his arms crossed.
The one named Warspite read furthermore as she noticed something, "Your history isn't told in much detail..." She reminded.
"And that's gonna stay this way." Xavier interrupts her. "Anything else?"
"None for this matter." John spoke up, "Perhaps you can go, while we discuss further plans alter on." He advised. With that Xavier immediately gets up and leaves the room, as his leave nearly panicked the outside as they quickly back away to let him leave. John sighed as he is gone, "So for everyone, feel free to speak." He stated.
"He's surely has an attitude!" Queen Elizabeth huffed as she crossed her arms. "And you think he's gonna lead us!"
"I can't seemed to fault him, after all, you questioned his profile." Another woman spoke as she has fair skin, blonde hair and red eyes. And she's wearing some kind of holy church aesthetics.
A second woman whose wearing a Chinese outfit, has dark hair and red eyes, "What do you say Richelieu?" She asked the woman.
"Well, Yat Sen..." Richelieu explained as Warspite hands the records to her as she did a quick read. "He seem not to be impure. Despite his criminal record, none what Warspite has provided are consider inhumane." She hands it to Yat Sen who nodded and gives it to the others.
"How about yours, Rossiya?" Yat Sen mentioned.
Sovetskaya Rossiya, a Northern Parliament Battleship speaks her thoughts, "We may need to know more about him." She stated.
Cleveland raised her hand to gain their attention, "As one of the Eagle Union's representation and met the Commander early. I can say, he's like a tough shell kind of guy." She said.
"And what does that have to do with this talk?" Queen Elizabeth questioned.
"I'd say, given him some time and we'll get adjusted well with him. Eventually... Character development!" Cleveland suggested with a positive outlook.
"...That's sounds dumb." Queen Elizabeth puffed, but then sighed, "Okay, we'll get that Commander to at least settle down with us..." She said.
"And eventually, he'll open up." Richelieu smiled, the others nodded.
"This isn't our first time bonding with Commander." Rossiya stated. "He would want us to do it. For us. To be better."
Prince of Wales nodded, "Now, we have nothing to discuss." She stated, as she turns to a maid, "Belfast, make sure you help guide Commander to the office." She instructed.
"Of course." Belfast smiled and take a bow, before heading out. With that, everyone decided to take their leave with only one woman left.
Wales noticed her as she sighed, "So... Hood... How is the other factions?" She asked.
Hood shook her head, "Nothing, I've gotten no response from them. The Sakura Empire, Iron Blood, Members from Vichya Dominion, and Sardegna Empire aren't receiving the announcements or even the calls." She informed.
"...I am deeply concerned for them..." Wales worries. "If only some of us have joined..."
"Not all of us have recovered." Hood noted. "But no one is putting everyone's fault for him. There's nothing you could do, it's not your fault."
"I know... Eventually, we have to move on." Wales nodded as her sadness changes to slight determination. "Till all are one." With that, the two nodded at each other and are the last ones to leave the room.
Xavier is wandering outside, gazing the area around the base, or he is told it is... This looks nothing more like an acadmey, looks all those theories about the Azur Lane are already shutdown.
This place, it reminded him back when everything used to be... Peaceful. He shook his head, as he sees a bench, he goes there and sits down. He took off his hat and place it next to him.
A giggle is what he hears in his mind... A girl giggle, the last thing he ever heard since 2 years ago. He looks around seeing if nobody is making that sound, but what suddenly surprised him is Unicorn's doll... Standing as it is sentient, no it's actually is when it immediately tilted its head like a curious animal.
"U-chan!" Unicorn's voice called out, he turns to see where the voice occur. It's Unicorn herself and she's not alone, two girls are here, one with light purple hair and white hair and has bunny ears.
"Ah! It's the Commander!" The purple hair girl fretted as she did a quick bow. "M-my name is Javelin! And-" She sees the bunny ear girl is dozing off. "Laffey! This isn't the time to sleep!" She panicked.
"You don't need to be formal." Xavier responded.
"Oh... Okay." Javelin replied. "Well... What are you doing here?" She wondered.
"Does not concern you." Xavier replied.
"Oh..." Javelin felt dejected by him. "Well, can you help bring U-chan to Unicorn?" She asked, as Unicorn looks shy since she saw him.
Xavier sighed, as he looks at U-chan whose staring at him, he picks it up like a lost puppy. And walks to the trio, he kneels down to his level and hands out U-chan to Unicorn.
"T-thank you..." Unicorn nervously thanked him as she did a quick bow. Xavier stood up as silence occurs between the four.
"So..." Javelin spoke out to break the silence. "Wanna be friends, Commander?" She asked.
"No." Xavier instantly remarked.
"Eh!?" Javelin exclaimed. "Um... Don't you want to at least get to know us?" She wondered.
"I know enough, you know me enough." Xavier stated in a serious tone. "You have my records and files you can read about me."
"We read... But, we don't want to read..." Laffey muttered loudly.
"Yeah! Like Laffey said... We just wanted to know you, personally..." Javelin added.
Xavier sees the two, tempting these girls, knowing he isn't like the first. He sighed again, annoyed, however, there is something he needs to know...
"The Commander..." Xavier calls out.
"Hm?" Javelin perked up.
"What's the first Commander like, to you?" Xavier asked.
Javelin, Laffey and Unicorn are surprised to hear this, "Well, he is like... Kind, and caring..." Javelin summarized. "But, he's odd... He used to have a bad record like yours..." She added, indicating they've heard of his records.
"But he is like... A brother..." Unicorn mentioned as U-chan nods in agreement.
"I loved first Commander..." Laffey slightly downcast as she said it. "I missed him."
"...We all do." Javelin nodded as she is also sad. "But, he taught us about working together, ever since we were split."
"I know, back then you had tensions due to your history." Xavier acknowledged. The Azur Lane was created by the very same warships who faced war against each other. So of course the manifestations have grudges like Giulio Cesare and Warspite.
"Yep." Javelin nodded. "And since then we've became together for 4 years. Until he..." She closed her eyes as Laffey and Unicorn joined in. Xavier watches them, this sadness... "...And 3 months."
"What made you girls all strong?" Xavier asked.
"A promise..." Laffey stated.
"No matter how we go, we must always stick together." Javelin added. "That's his promise to us. He always say this; Till all are one."
'Till all are one'... Xavier pondered on that statement, they have strong spirit, to remain this for 3 months. "Girls..." Before he can speak...
"Master?" A voice interferes him as he turns around to see Belfast who gives off a curtsy bow. "I would like to guide you to your office." She stated.
"Master?... Oh, okay." Xavier replied, realizing that Belfast is a maid and referring him as Master, he turned to the three girls.
"Well, thank you for listening with us!" Javelin smiled. "We will always support you!" She added.
"Together..." Laffey joined in.
Unicorn smiles, "Thank you for listening..." She nodded. And that the three head off.
Belfast smiles, "Trying to speak with the little ones?" She wondered. "What a kind Master."
"They come to me first." Xavier replied. "I didn't seek out."
"Hm..." Belfast hummed. "Very well, I'll lead you Master."
Xavier and Belfast are at near the office door, the maid opens the door for him as he looks, it looks slightly old fashioned and very clean.
"We completely cleared out everything the previous Commander has made in the office." Belfast explains as Xavier turns to her as she smiles, "His office used to be a massive mess, one of the sections become a forest." She added much to his slight surprise.
"I see..." Xavier nodded awkwardly.
"Is there anything you require Master?" Belfast asked.
"..." Xavier looks around the office, once again, the issue about this place is old-fashioned. "I have item requests." Belfast nodded as she waiting to hear it. "I need computers, and other kinds of analogy machines you aren't using." He requested.
"I will bring up other maids to fulfill your request immediate." Belfast assures as she leaves the room.
Just as she is outside, she smirked, "Morning, Enterprise." She said as she turns around seeing a white haired woman with violent eyes along wearing some navy aspects on her outfit notably her hat and jacket. "I see you're on your own. Not with your sisters."
"I have a visit from Vestal. My sisters are waiting for me there." The woman named Enterprise speaks, "And how is the second Commander?" She asked.
"Hm... Not up to your standards?" Belfast Wondered. "He's seemed to be somewhat like you... Super serious, denying certain moments..."
"I haven't stated that." Enterprise replied showing off her serious expression. "And he's not like me, and second, I haven't deny, I am simply stating what I experienced while you aren't witnessing entire scenario."
"..." Belfast deadpanned stared at her. "You haven't started eating more ration bars. Have you?"
"No." Enterprise respond with a slight harsh response as she immediately walks off, Belfast sighed deeply, as she is one who still stay but isn't the same since Commander... She shook her head, even then, she still feels the sorrow of her previous master, even if he makes a bunch of mess in his office due to his eccentric personality.
She sighed calmly, knowing she needs to bring out the items that Commander requested. She decided to contact the other maids.
For a while, Xavier is back alone in his office, he wanders around looking everywhere. The cabinets, table, chairs, couch, any other furniture. He sees a door, walks up and opens it, a bedroom. A single bed, the room looks small but not to tight. Then another door is here, opens it, a simple bathroom.
He goes back to the office, and he sits on the chair and looks at the desk. He sees desk shelf, opens these drawers, the top one has a massive book that has title of the Azur Lane ships themselves, the middle one is near empty, only non-empty is a single revolver. He placed these items on the desk, the lastly goes for the bottom drawer, he found a button and walkie talkie, the button is attached to the inside, so he only took the walkie talkie.
He looks what he took from the drawers that are on the desk. So far, the first day experience has been tiresome for him, but hearing others, he wondered how mere words can be such a promise. Till all are one? Actions are temporary, and so are words, how could they maintain such promise?
Wait... There's only a few... Xavier noticed something odd about the girls, he quickly opens the book, and reads the table of contents, and saw the title he needed 'factions'. He managed to reached the page number, and see the names.
Eagle Union, Royal Navy, Northern Parliament, Dragon Empery, Iris Orthodoxy, now split by Iris Libre and Vichya Dominion. Found it... And the rest of them, Sakura Empire, Iron Blood, Sardenga Empire. These are the remaining factions he didn't saw during his arrival as he see their picture profiles, Bismarck, Akagi, Kaga, Nagato, Jean Bart, and more, but none of them are even here at the base, nor the meeting...
So where are they?
Outside of the island, on top of the hill, a girl is here. Her red eyes gazed at the base from a distance. She has a sword on her hand, and metal like plate sticking out of her head looking like animal ears. She takes out the binoculars and have sight on Xavier whose still in his office.
She placed her finger on her earpiece communication device. "Ayanami reporting, I have sighted second- I mean fake Shikikan." She informed before quickly adjusted her words on the last part of the sentence.
"...Good job Ayanami, stay in your position until Akagi's command." The voice named Akagi responded as the coms called off. Ayanami remains a stoic expression, but deep down mentally, she is worried... How will her friends see this? No, stay focused! This is for Shikikan!
She then gazed on the ocean and from a distance, multiple massive black futuristic ships as they have red glowing lines. Akagi and Kaga are standing on top of them. As Akagi remains her smirk as they are heading to the Azur Lane Base...
